Silence, one of things Kismet was most familiar and comfortable with, now had a eerie aura to it. She could feel as it tried to pry underneath her skin, try to squirm its darkened ways into her heart. Without a doubt, Kismet already knew that there was something about this area of the woodlands that she had wandered into within one short day's worth of time. Silence had never before felt like an actual person, and actual spirit just as it was like this. There was obviously something that was soon to happen, ticking away with her heart beat like a time bomb. "Bum, ba-bum; bum, ba-bum~" Away it pulsed steadily, her hooves pressing against the soil and pebbles below as each beat thudded heavily under her ribs. What could possibly be stirring up nature in such a dark way? What sort of powerful presence could this possibly be?
Although it was still just before sunset, the woods had become so thick that no sunlight passed through the cover of the tree's canopy; only enough light got through to give off a light hue of bronze against the monotone backdrop of the shadows that stretched off of the monotone gray trees. Every stride that she took deeper into the forest only put her more on edge, starting to feel unusually anxious about her enviornment. Such a thing had not happened to her before; what was going on within her? She continued to walk on, closing her eyes and breathing in deeply into her lungs; she had learned that times like these she should remember her mentor and her teachings, and she soon began to entrance herself into a calmer state, banishing such odd feelings out and away from her body. After what she learned as well as her life experiences, she knew better than to let such an oddity control and manipulate her, for it was merely her senses giving her a fair warning and alertness to the enviornment, and that was all...

Frostbite walked low to the ground, her heartbeat was slow and controlled. it was the calm before the storm, the feeling of absolute peace before the chase. before her was a dark colored mare that happened to walk into the woods right as Frostbite was waking up. in fact is was the mares heart beat that caught her attention. it was loud and fast. the sound of an excited and fearful heart was one of Frostbite's favorite noises. a devilish idea crept into her mind. she was going to have a bit of fun with this mare. her plan involved making the mare think that she was a familiar. Frostbite shifted into her coyote form and stepped out of the bushes. The mare was a ways infront of Frostbite, but she caught up quickly, her coyote paws making a soft patter sound on the ground. she slowed down as she got closer and barked to get the mares attention. "hey, hey, who are you?" her voice was cheery and playful, her tail wagged like a puppy that wanted to play.

Although she didn't show other signs of shock towards the sudden back, her eyes widened and her legs stiffened up a bit. That was odd; barking? It sounded a bit too highly pitched to be a wolf, so what other canine creature could live this deeply into the woods? She turned around halfway, unwilling to leave her back exposed, but yet not wanting to turn away from the direction she was traveling in. There was a coyote with a beautiful blue coat simply standing there, tail wagging and eyes alight. Such a brightly colored coat was a relief, in its own way, against the darkness that these trees and shadows bore. It looked old enough to be on its own, but yet again, what was such a creature doing out here? As she continued to observe it in the brief moment of which she turned around, she noticed an unnatural glint hidden in its eyes, something dark and mysterious unlike the body language it was portraying. How unusual.
She felt as even though she placed a dainty, gentle smile in welcome across her muzzle, her eyes reflected some of her caution. However, there was never a reason for her to run away or not interact with any creature that belonged to this earth. "Why, hello there, little one," she began, eyes and body relaxed and steadily positioned. "I am merely a wanderer, young Coyote'. I hope I am not intruding on any pre-claimed territory. Are you familiar with these woods, perchance?"

Frostbite giggled and walked right up the the mare, tail still wagging. "nope, its not mine, im just heading out of here, this place kinda gives me the creeps." she gave a little shiver to emphasize her point. everything was going well, the mare was falling into her trap. she just had to play dumb a bit longer then the real fun would start. Frostbite was never one to enjoy excessive violence, but just killing something from behind was way to mundane. there had to be at least some challenge, some sort of excitement.
Frostbite curiously sniffed at the mare, her little pink nose scrunching at the unfamiliar smell. she looked up and cocked her head. "my name is Frostbite, can i know your name?" it was always polite to ask, because not everyone was willing to give out their name to strangers. Frostbite gave out her name to everyone she met, it is a courtesy to know the name of your killer. not saying that shes killed everyone who as ever crossed her path, but that dosent mean she hasent tried.

Even as the distance between the two creatures had closed, and the height difference seeming so great, Kismet had never once broke her eye contact; the most she did was examine the rest of the coyote's head and ears. Not only was this simply a courtesy she was taught to have with others, but there was most definitely something strange with this one. Yet again, there was just something about the way its eyes glinted and smiled at her; there was something being concealed behind them, and she just knew it. Still, here she was, simply beaming and smiling down warmly at this beautiful little coyote. "Oh, so I see. A big forest such as this one wouldn't suit a coyote, also, I would think. I would not blame you at all if you wished to leave such a place."
It was a bit odd to be suddenly sniffed by the small coyote, but Kismet was still accustom to it from other creatures, nonetheless. She even spoke with some courtesy, something very familiar for Kismet, yet confusing in such a situation all the same. "That's a lovely name, and it matches your coat so nicely! I go by the name Kismet. It's a pleasure to meet you, young coyote." Even with such wonderful formalities, Kismet felt a shiver within her heart and kept her eyes solely on the coyote, Frostbite. There was just something off about this situation she found herself in, and it caused a frost to coarse through her veins; yet still she stood here, knees firmly locked, with a ever bright and welcoming smile on her face, just as her mentor had always told her to do.

Frostbite nodded and said the mares name several times, letting the word roll off her tongue. "Kismet, Kismet, yup i like it, well it was nice to meet you kismet, but i really want to get going. its almost night time and this forest is bound to have bigger things than me in it." Frostbite turned and began to walk away. there was no reason to rush things. she had already checked the area, no one was near by to interfere. also she had spent all of last night memorizing the surrounding forest so that if something were to escape from her it would be easy to track. this mare was as good as hers.
Frostbite turned and walked in the direction that lead deeper into the forest. she took a few steps then looked back at Kismet. "um, ok well this is embarrassing but i dont know how to get out of this forest. do you think you could walk me to the edge?" she gave a nervous chuckle. "or if you want we go further in and try and find a nice safe place to spend the night, then i bet i could find my own way out in the morning." she did not care which option the mare chose, but for some reason people liked having options. Frostbite always made sure that she gave her prey options, like should she break the front or back legs first, and such. the real game was about to begin.

(( I apologize for the delay! Thanksgiving was very hectic for me for the past few days~ D: ))
Kismet's ears swiveled slightly with each word Frostbite was speaking, nodding and flaring her nostrils at her in gratitude after hearing her words. "I am glad for that; thank you, Frostbite. You have an unusual, yet beautiful, name, yourself. It sound's so harsh, yet so delicate on the inside; it's very interesting." Kismet patiently listened as the coyote continued her dialogue, and although feeling like there was some sort of hidden underlying secret that this forest was delivering to her, she understood why such a creature would want to leave these woods. This was even apart of her original suspicions, for a forest such as this one was no true place for a coyote to be found exploring, even for those who may be adventuresome. "Ah, so I see. I, too, would suggest that you be on your way, especially if you have such suspicions, for even I have such a feeling that this forest has more dangers in it that is beyond what we can see."
The Coyote made such a fuss about now leaving the forest, yet it continued off on its own way toward the heart of it. Was this small coyote truly lost? Was this one of the sources for her suspicions? Feelings of anxiety and conflict began to fill in her stomach, yet Kismet refused to show any signs of such feelings externally. To further her outer appearance of being calm, she even created a realistic yawn, swishing her tail around like a cow would on a lazy day. Soon enough, Frostbite turned around, asking her another question. Aaah~ So is that how it is? Kismet thought calmly to herself, in a way that was almost like saying "I'm feeling rather hungry today" or "the sky is a wonderful shade of blue this afternoon". She listened carefully, just as she would with any other, before finally creating a response. "Oh, my. I'm sorry, but I'm new to this forest, myself. I'm afraid I would be unable to bring you back to the entrance, I would assume. Yet, I wouldn't wish to bring you further into the forest if you wish to leave it. The choice is ultimately yours, for I don't mind either way." This seemed very suspicious to her. So, the coyote was unable to find her way out now, but she could easily enough find such a route when morning came? How was this?

Frostbite turned and looked at the mare. she hated people who could not make up their mind. or to better clarify, she hated people who did not appreciate the choice that she gave them and just told her that they did not care and that she could pick. that was basically telling her that they did not care about her generosity and would rather just die on the spot. so Frostbite growled at the mare, "fine, if you dont want to choose then i will. so you are going to stay there and not move while i eat off your flesh to fill my empty belly." her hackles raised as she continued to growl.

Kismet's nostrils quivered from the sudden chill that stirred in her blood, in the sudden realization of the present danger she now faced. The fire that suddenly flared beyond their barriers and scorched her skin when the coyote turned around was horrifying, full of power beyond her range of comprehension. Where did such a passion come from? Regardless, Kismet sensed immediately from the moment this creature had shown up that there was something out of place, something to catch her suspicions. Yet, with the exception over her quivering nostrils, and perhaps the slightest movement of her upper lip, Kismet's body and face remained calm and stony. "Excuse me? I dare not consider myself to be a simple piece of prey. I support others with words and perhaps my body for their futures and their minds, but not for an empty stomach." She stared at the small body, now raising and trembling with its own inner strength. "And perhaps, you may show me your true form. If anything, I am always honest and will respect your words and actions of honesty, as well." Thinking further within the brief moment, she added in quickly, "If this is, what I believe, your game to play with me, perhaps being on more even ground more inciting for you. The honesty will certainly do such for me, at least."

Frost bite growled, anger beginning to stir in her heart. this mare had no right to address her in such a manner. the name Kismet meant nothing to her except that she would whisper it in her preys ears as it died so that it would remember that it used to be something, but died as prey. Frostbite shirted into her true form. her blue pelt now stark against her dark coat, her claws extended and her teeth bared. she was a sight for anyone to fear. she was the creature that everyone feared, and that mothers taught foals to avoid. "how dare you speak to me like that. you are nothing but food for my stomach. you were born that so you would one day die and that your body would bring nutrition to others. you should be honored that your flesh will be nutrition to me." she tensed as her body got ready for the hunt. muscles flexing, claws extending, pupils dilating. "now i will once again ask that you hold still. im not into hunting games like my brothers, i simply just want to eat. so i will make this quick and you will die without pain." Frostbite walked towards the mare. if Kismet was smart then she would hold still and let death come.

So, Frostbite was in fact a Purewalker. She should have predicted such a thing much sooner than this, but since she did not act upon it, now she was stuck in this particular situation. Of course she had known about their existence, every horse knew about such creatures, but had only ever encountered one previously at a distance. She was well educated on just how powerful these beings were, and knew that they were to be rightfully feared. She could feel as her heart accelerated, feeling as her composure began to slowly decay from the inside-out. Sukui, my dear mentor, where are you when I truly need your light? What would you suggest me do? Kismet loved her dear, past mentor, for it was she who taught her everything she had learned, especially for situations that nature had threw upon her quite like this one. What would she suggest to her, now?
The only thing she could think about was to stay calm, stay silent. Let her body feel as still as stone, and to not back down with her words, without going overboard with being assertive. Although she could feel the Purewalker's eyes burning through her skin, Kismet daintily closed her eyes, finding the inner strength to stop her quivering and began to find words from somewhere beyond. "It is true that when I shall die, my body will take part in the circle of life in such a way. But as of tonight, where I die and when I die shall be up to me, for I am the only one to choose my own destiny. My body is merely my vessel for my soul; it shall do what I will it to do. If I will it to run, swiftly shall my hooves take me, but if I stand still my knees will be like the roots of trees on my accord, not yours." Kismet, quite honestly, did not choose these words for herself, but a voice from deep within her body had passed them along for her. These words may have been a bit out of her bounds, while in the paws of the Purewalker, but with these kinds of people and creatures, she was taught to not back down with such things, for that was what drove them per getting their own way.

Frostbite spat at the mares feet. "such brave words for such a small horse, lets hear you say them again, but this time to my face." Frostbite was now right in the mare's face, foreheads almost touching. she was slightly peeved that the mare showed no reaction to her being a purewalker. it kinda stung her pride, but it made things more interesting. this mare thought she was so brave, it made frostbite sneer. in the end bravery is nothing but prey that dosent know how to die. "lets se if you are so brave after i tear off a limb." sure she had promised to make it quick, but she was peeved now and wanted the mare to feel fear in her final moments.

"But I have been speaking towards your face," she began dimly, nearly forgetting to mind her words before they were spoken, "or are you referring to the proximity?" She swished her tail and bit her tongue, aware that she was merely digging herself deeper into a scenario that she truly wished to be avoiding. Honestly, she was utterly terrified, and she could feel how the chills that clawed underneath her skin so desperately tried to cry out and show themselves upon the surface. But Kismet knew better, or at least this much, that she could not for any reason show her fear towards such a person. "Brave? I know not such a thing of bravery, I am only being honest and trying to be a bit diplomatic, that is all. There is no need for such threats; I can understand your desires loud and clear without such words." That's it, all she had to do is stay as firm as possible for now, assuming the body and soul of a great tree. Fleeing now would only heighten the predator's thrills, yet even if she stood still at least any harm would deliver itself swiftly unto her.

Frostbite backed off and started to circle the mare while growling. she could almost smell it. the slightest bit of fear, but it was so faint that it could very possibly be a rabbit farting somewere in the bushes. "are you saying that you do not fear death? or do you not fear me? it does not matter because the two are intertwined. i will be your death." she whispered the last sentence in the mare's ear. she was going to make this mare shake and tremble. she wanted to see fear streaming from the mares eyes.

Although she was being circled by the Purewalker, Kismet kept her head firmly directed straight ahead of her, only letting her eyes to trace the movements for the little glances they were worth. Sukui, surely there is a point where I must give in? You never fully taught me how to handle such a predator, and my fear is beginning to bind be with each coming second, she thought in a hurry to herself, nearly trying to beg and will for her mentor's voice to call out to her even though she knew this could be impossible. It honestly wasn't death that she feared, nor technically the Purewalker, but perhaps it was being fearful of not controlling the situation she was now stuck in. Being the ever-so-keen to gain as much knowledge of the world as possible, it was important to her to know what to do and to understand what was happening, and this kind of "hands-on" experience was too intense to start off in.
Her jaw hung open momentarily as her inner fear gripped her throat, closing off any access for her words to crawl out of her lungs. Once again, the aura of fear that clung around her heart caused her nostrils to quiver, flaring in order to depress the total amount of shaking they showed off. How much longer could she keep her composure for? This was the singular greatest time in her life where she felt more fear than even before, and more of a sense of danger. No, not even that time in the storm could compare to this moment now...
"I can see that my words are reaching deaf ears, but it truly isn't death that I fear, nor you. If anything were to happen to my body, my body would be the object sensing the pain, but not my mind or soul. If I were to die, it shall be my body that will no longer move but my soul shall travel onwards, and I shall still live within the flickering memories of those which I have encountered." Kismet flicked her ears and eyes in the direction of her opposition's face, trying to give Frostbite a feeling of respect, before attempting to give a sort of praise, a sort of honesty, "but nonetheless, I can easily see that such a fate and decision over my bodily harm is entirely up to you, held within your paws."
