Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxHer • first arrival on the island was met with craziness. The place had ended up being booby trapped and that was a hole experience on its own. Her bags were packed full and slung over each shoulder, hiding her thin frame. Her easel was tucked under one arm and all her paints were stored away in her luggage. As she walked slowly up to the building, the sun shinned brightly behind her. This was lucky for her because her eyes were sensitive to the bright rays. She was trudging along and not really paying attention to anyone else, she was on a mission to find her room. The large doors swung open with some force and she shyly stuck her head in and peaked around before fully stepping into the building. How could she be sure that this was the right place? The area she stepped into was wide and open, very grand compared to what she was use to. If it had not been for all her luggage, she would have slinked into her clothing from all the open space. Gulping and gazing at the roof of the building, she walked.

This was a mistake since she was already clumsy, but Avalbane was not watching where she was going and just walked, looking up ahead of her and behind her. At one point she bumped into a wall and dropped her easel. Bending at the knees, she picked it back up and tucked it under her arm again. This, all of this, it was new to her. Upon walking around, she got caught staring up at the cieling again and at how much room she felt she had. Her thoughts started to run while as she walked around Oi cannot believe dis 'ill be me new h'um. wat 'ill oi do 'ere? wat aboyt me auld pair, do yer tink they 'ill miss me? Since learning to speak some English, her thoughts in her head were now in that language. It would be for the best, she might be able to lose a bit of her accent if she kept practicing.

Just as she was breaking her neck to look at something to the left, she tripped over her own feet and started stumbling around. Her shoulder bags dropped from their position and fell on the ground. Her easel clanged on the ground along with one of her other bags. The last bag hit the ground and spewed open, knocking some of her sketches across the ground. Her eyes saw the floor that she was heading for and there was no time for her hands to stop her. Avalbane was about to smack her face down on the ground and make her grand entrance into Sidekick Academy.

((I don't know what building she's walking around in, I'm just going to assume it's the check-in/registration offices and what not. xD;; )

Juno had been wandering around the registrar for quite some time now, hoping to catch a glimpse of Dr. Flo. He knew she had a lot of paperwork and things to take care of and visited it often enough. And perhaps today would be one of those days she would be stopping in for one reason or another.

While loitering around, staring at the random decor, Juno noticed a new student carrying a load of things in her arms. The first thing he seemed to notice about her though was that she was missing shoes. How odd indeed.

Juno wandered himself over a little to get a closer look at the student. She was carrying an easel and art supplies, an artist! He watched as she clumsily struggled and dropped things and attempted to pick them up. At this point, Juno decided it was time to walk over and help. Thank goodness he'd made that decision because right as he walked up behind her, she seemed to trip over her own feet!

With one quick reflex and motion, Juno slid in just in time to catch her princess-style.
"Woah! Hey there, you alright?" He said with a smile and raised eyebrows and he slowly propped the girl upright. "You've got quite a bit of stuff there." He laughed cheerfully, proceeding to help pick up the girl's belongings.

((Bleh. Sorry. I'm a little rusty and knew I was forgetting something important. But yes, that is what I was going for. XD ))

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxx Clenching • her eyes tightly, she was prepared to hurt herself when she smacked into the ground, instead something else happened. She could feel someone else's warm presence against her and hands rapped around her body. This of course was what prevented her from hitting the ground. Slowly her left eyelid started to raise from his closed position. At first the vision in front of her was a tad bit blurry, but she opened her right eye as well to see a blonde haired male. She did not say anything, forgetting completely her fears about her powers and others being near her. She just stared at him, her peachish pink eyes staring straight up into his.

She felt his hands push her up onto her feet and she was able to get her balance. Her mind was still racing with what had just happened. Some stranger had appeared out of nowhere and rescued her in her time of need. This was exactly how some of the movies Avalbane loved to watch went. This must be her Prince Charming, who else catches people the way he did? A small pink tint started to appear over her cheeks as he spoke to her. At first she ignored what he was saying, still caught up in her mind about her rescuer. He saved me. av al' de things dat cud 'av 'appened, oi wus saved. ah dis is jist loike 'oy so'tiz suppose ter 'appen. oi tink Ah've foun' me true love. Oi wonder wat 'is name is. 'oy auld is he? does he 'av feelings for me? oi bet he does. oi'm in love. Similar things like this kept running through her mind as he opened his mouth and spoke. The last word in his last sentence finally broke through to her and Avalbane stopped her dream world and came back to reality. She was pretty sure he had asked if she was ok earlier too.

At first she just watched him start to pick up her stuff, but then she finally spoke to him. "O-oh. oi'm gran', tanks." She blushed a little more about the fact she had a lot. "Did oi pack too much? oi wasn't sure wat it wus loike 'ere." She really wasn't. None of this was what she expected so far. Kneeling down she started to pick up all her papers and such too. There was a little bit of melting frost on the ground of her previous position. "Tanks for 'elpin'. umm, do yer tink yer cud tell me wher' or wat oi'm suppose ter do nigh?" She was lost and never really got directions on what to do after she managed to get to the school. Maybe she was not supposed to and was in the wrong area. She stepped back from him a little bit, trying to keep him from feeling the cold emanating from her body. All she really knew is that the man in front of her saved her life, was taller then herself, had pretty boss glasses on, and probably knew more than she did at the moment.

((Nah, it's cool Lay. xD))

The first thing, aside from the girl's interesting taste and style, that Juno was able to notice was her accent. It was so very intriguing for him, and the delight showed in his face. He was entirely interested in this youngster, hopefully she would be one of his students so he would be able to learn more about her and befriend her eventually.

Though granted, Juno had slight difficult understanding her strong accent. He took a moment to completely grasp what she was saying and make out her words.

He seemed not to notice though that she was blushing because he'd saved her and took her embarrassment in relation to her being clumsy and with all this stuff.

"Oh no, I think an artist like yourself would make use of all these supplies. Am I right?" He said cheerfully, continuing to help her pick up all her artsy things.

"No problem. And hm. New student. You should check in at the front desk and let them know you're here. Then I think they give you a room number for you dorm and all that. You eventually have to see a counselor for your classes too. Then you're set...?" It was certainly a lot to grasp if you were new. "Your name should be on their lists though, so it should be quick." He smiled reassuringly. She looked pretty lost and nervous.

"If you like, I can help you..?" He offered because well. To be frank, he was having no luck today with bumping into Dr. Flo. Drats. But at least now he was meeting a cool new student. Literally cool. He only just realized how cool to the touch she had been and that there was frost developing on the ground where she stood. So she was an elemental type. Juno alway felt a little envious of those who could manipulate elements (at least when he was younger, not so much these days), he only had light. And that never quite seem as cool as ice or fire. Nor could he manipulate it.

But anyway. For someone like him who got hot easily, this was rather accommodating. He could feel the slight cool drifting off the girl, and it felt good.

((Random, but do I decide her classes? XD; ))

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxShe • was a bit surprised when he said something about her being an artist. She did not think about how obvious it was with all these items sprawled across the ground. She nodded after he had said that and gathered all her items up in her arms again with his help. She had already thanked him, so she did not think about it again.

Avalbane just stared at him as he spoke about what to do. It was almost like you could see the confusion and fear develop on her face the longer he talked. She wasn't sure she would remember what to do, or what if she wasn't on the list? She had never really sent in things to reply back and let them know she was coming. He spoke of classes as well. Aw naw, classes. oi'm nervous aboyt dis. oi wonder 'oy many other students are at dis school. 'ill be classes be 'uge? oi wonder if he 'ill be in any av me classes? Since the two had just met, she was unaware of the fact that he is one of the teachers. To her, he did not look old enough to be a teacher, then again, she had no idea how old he was. Or his name for that matter.

Glancing over at the sign in area, she heard him speak again and turned back to him. He was offering to help her, which came as a huge relief. "Ah, oi wud be most grateful, but oi do not want ter take up yer time." Of course she really wanted his help. She would always try several times to make sure the person really wanted to, then would happily accept their help. It was how she was. She tried to smile at him, but it made her nervous and she quickly turned her face to try and hide it. Making sure all her supplies and luggage was in her hold, she started to walk over to the sign in area. As she approached the area, she realized something, she could not read. Ah Bejasus, i'll never fend me name on 'ere. oi 'ill naught even be able ter read me classes. oi don't nu wat ter do. i-i'll try ter fake it oi guess... Since she believed this man to be her destined Prince Charming, it was obvious she did not want him to find out that she was illiterate to the English language. She was use to being made fun of for not being able to read or write and she did not want that to happen now.

Reaching the sign in table, she looked down at the list and all the scribbled letters on it. This was going to be the hardest part of the day, at least for now. Her eyes scanned each line, trying her best to take in what it was actually saying, but to no avail. She gave up. Looking up at him, her eyes seem to be watery from her anger and fear, and when she spoke, her voice shook. "Oi canny fend it... She was almost ready to drop everything and just run away and hide in a small corner.

"Ah, oi wud be most grateful, but oi do not want ter take up yer time."

Juno again took a few extra seconds to try to grasp the girl's accent. But then shook his head and managed to put all the things he was holding for her in one arm and put his other arm around her and shake her a little. Smiling he said, "Don't worry, I've really got nothing else better to do."

Boy was this girl shy or what? She couldn't even look at him. But maybe it was first day jitters, she seemed nervous all around.

Juno walked him and his new acquaintance over to the sign in table. Where there behind it sat a nice looking woman who promptly gave them a clipboard to find her name and check her in.

"Oi canny fend it..."

Oh dear. Juno just realized that he didn't even know what this girl's name was. "Oh how silly of me! I don't even know your name. Mind telling me? Then I can help you find it." Again his sparkling smile shining on his face at the youngster, without even realizing the possible damage he was causing. She was looking so terrified, he was hoping that his high spirits would help make her feel a little better. SA couldn't possibly be that scary to newcomers, could it? He wanted to reassure her everything was going to be okay. "And if it's not here, don't worry. We'll figure it out." He said, gently rubbing her shoulder with his arm still around her.

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxAvalbane • had only become red int he face when he had first put his arm around her. She did not want to cause him to think she was rude or anything for pulling away from him, so she stayed. Right next to his body.

When he spoke and then smiled at her, her poor heart seemed to flutter and she just stared at him in awe. If only the man knew what was going on in her mind, then he would probably slack off on showing his dazzling smile to her. Feeling his hand rub her arm, she squeaked slightly and then started to stutter before she could even try to get any words out. Finally after saying 'Uhh' a few times, she managed to actually speak to the young man. "O-oh. Me name is Avalbane. Avalbane McCarthy." Her accent was not as bad when she spoke her name, it was actually one of the first words she had learned to say in English.

Trying her best, she slightly smiled up at him, not wanting to see as shy and timid as she really was. Though the thoughts of her name not actually being on the list started frantically buzzing in her mind. If 'tis not dare do yer tink they 'ill threw me oyt? Oi couldn't go back 'um. wat if....wat if.. She forced the thoughts out of her head and tried to focus on the situation at had. Not to let her imagination get ahead of her and cause her to freak out and burst out into tears in front of...at that moment she realized she did not know his name either. It would be hard to ask, she wasn't sure if she should, but she did. "Wat. Wat is yisser name sir?" Avalbane wasn't really aware if that was the proper way to ask or if it sounded rude, but she would soon find out.

She couldn't help but stare up at him, looking into his eyes and feeling slightly safe. Her heart was beating fast and for the first time, she was realizing her knees felt weak. Well one of them. The other was metal and wouldn't get weak unless put through a lot and not kept clean and well taken care of.

"O-oh. Me name is Avalbane. Avalbane McCarthy."

Juno smiled. "That's a lovely name, Avalbane." It was really unique, he'd never heard of someone named Avalbane before.

So without further ado, Juno looked down at the list and began to search for such a name on the long list of children that would supposedly make it to the academy at one time or another. It wasn't on the first page, so Juno flipped to the next. And then the next. And then the next again. Gosh this list was so darn confusing, it wasn't even in alphabetical order! Who organized it?

But finally on the next page flip... Juno was distracted by,
"Wat. Wat is yisser name sir?"

Juno smiled again, this girl had such a cute accent! He was laughing on the inside. "Oh right! Forgot to tell you who I am. Haha. You can call me SS. I teach Target Practice," he said with a glow. "I wonder if you'll be in my class..." he added thoughtfully with a tilt of his head and then promptly returned to looking for her name.

"Ah HAH!" He said, and pointed to her name at the top of the list on the fifth page. "There it is, you just have to sign your name on the line next to where it's printed." He said cheerfully, still entirely clueless to the fact that this girl could not read or write.

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxShe • blushed and her whole face slowly turned bright red when he told her that her name was lovely. She look away, trying to think of random things to get his compliment and smile out of her mind. Puppies, kitties, whales. Nothing seemed to be working, but then she stared at the wall and thought of lizards. Lizards did it. For some reason that helped to remove SS from her mind, she started to think on the different types, the differences in their faces. What a Princess Lizard would look like. Anything.

But the sudden sound of paper flipping had brought her back to reality. Quickly jerking her head to the place the sign in sheet was and watched Juno flip it. Then again, and two other times. Her heart started to beat quickly and she wide eyed the paper. Until he pointed to her name. It was almost like a sudden rush of relaxation. She did not have to worry anymore, Juno had pointed out her name and she could calm down.

Knowing his name was the first step in a relationship, or at least that is what her mother would say. Now she knew his name and all they needed now was to pick out a wedding date. That is what she thought until he said the word class. He wasn't a student like she had thought. Which meant she was too young for him. Which meant this would be complicated. But then again, the Princesses never knew the age of their Prince Charmings, so she didn't have to either. It wouldn't matter, he was her soul mate and everything would work out fine. Avalbane was getting ready to ask about his class, but she got scared and nervous, plus that and she needed to -sign- her name.

As she took a step toward the table to sign in, all her jitters and emotion changes would show. Her knees were weak and as she took a step one of them gave out. She almost slapped her face into the table but managed to catch herself with both of her hands. Raising up and laughing nervously she turned to Juno. "Oi slipped." In the process she had managed to drop all of the stuff she was carrying, but it wasn't too bad. They just fell to the floor near her feet. She gripped the pen that was on the desk and stared down at her name. Ah it looks so preitty wrote oyt loike dat. This was one of the only times she had actually seen her name spelled out in front of her. So'tiz so long though. Du oi 'av ter write al' av it? She gripped the pen tighter and pressed it straight against the paper above the line. Lucky for her that her name was right next to it or she wouldn't know how to spell it. Slowly and carefully she wrote each individual line. It was almost like if she messed up a line, she would be killed. Her hand motions were very hard and planned. She wanted it to be perfect. As she finished her last name, she dropped the pen, which had developed some slight frost on it. "Dare. n-now oi'm done." Turning to him again, she forgot what he looked like and started to turn slightly red when her eyes locked onto his face. He was just so dreamy to her.

Even through his shades, Juno could tell that the girl was blushing. Was it his smile? Was he smiling too much again? Maybe he should cut down on the smiling around her, it seemed to make her uncomfortable of sorts. But then again, she seemed to be just very shy. It reminded him of Anemone, she was a little like this too. However in different ways. He sighed lightly.

Oh dear! She was so nervous that she was falling again! Oh wait, but she caught herself. Phew... Juno was in mid-surprise with his arms out when she said,
"Oi slipped."

He nodded with a meek smile and sigh of relief. "Please be more careful." He said as he began to pick up the several things that had fallen while she'd saved herself by letting go of everything.

"Dare. n-now oi'm done."

Juno looked up from being half bent over trying to pick up her things, "Oh cool! Well I guess it's time to get you settled in then, right?" He said cheerfully, trying to cut down on the smiling but it was such a natural reflex to him that it seemed impossible to refrain.

He spoke briefly with the person at the desk about which dorm room Avalbane would be staying, once he'd gotten the room number, he thanked the receptionist and turned his attention back to his new acquaintance. "So looks like you're in room (number here)." He was all smiles as usual. But then remembering that she was new and rather clumsy that he should probably help her get there, especially with all the things she was carrying... "Would you like me to help you get there?" He added. "It's no trouble at all," he said reassuring her. "It's not far."

----
((Is there anything else you think they should do after Ava gets settle? o__o ))

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxAvalbane • felt slightly bad about slipping again. Of course it was nothing she could help, but he asked her to be more careful and she just looked away. Some things were easier to be more careful on. Things like cooking, sewing, drawing, running. Those active type of things. But this, this was just moving and standing. The only way she could possibly be more careful would be to stay perfectly still. That couldn't have been what he meant. Who would want someone to just stand there, forever? That did not make sense to her, and without meaning to she shook her head side to side slightly.

Sometimes her actions were those from her inner thoughts. It would seem random to people just watching her but they were part of something. Once she ended up waving at the wall because she was thinking of something. Although shaking her head was the one she did most often. She was thinking all this while writing her name.

If only Juno had known that it did not matter how much he smiled. Of course that added to it. Having the love of your life be so warm and inviting towards you and smiling, that did add to it a whole lot. But also just being in their presence made things so much more difficult. She had only nodded to his question about getting settled in. "Tanks for 'elpin' me thus far." She did not want to force him to help her anymore, but he seemed like he wanted to. Maybe it was only because he had already seen how clumsy she was and wanted to prevent her from climbing the stairs and falling back down them. Although she wanted to tell him not to worry about it just to be nice and let him have his free time, she always wanted him to stay near her. It was a hard decision, but finally her selfish reasons won in the end. He had already reassured her he was fine with it. Plus if it wasn't far, he could still have his free time.

"Well, um, if it isn't too much, dat wud umm, dat wud be nice." She grabbed up most of her stuff, shoving it up under her arms or in a pocket. If there was an open space in her bags, things were being shoved in them. She wanted to have at least one free hand. That would make travel easier. Now she just had to follow behind Sharp Shooter to reach her new home away from home. This was a new chapter in her life and, hopefully, an enjoyable adventure.

Juno watched the girl as she shook her head for no apparent reason, needless to say she was very interesting indeed.

"Tanks for 'elpin' me thus far."

"Oh, it's no problem at all." Juno cheerfully said. It was without a doubt completely within reason for him to want to help out anyone who crossed his path. He was a hero after all with genuine curious interest. He waved towards the receptionist before he turned with the new student to leave in the direction of the dorms.

"Well, um, if it isn't too much, dat wud umm, dat wud be nice."

"Why don't I take some things off your hands?" Granted this was a question, but Juno didn't wait to be invited to it. He simply took a few of the heavier things off the girl's hands to carry them for her making her load much easier in the process. "That's much better." He sighed as though he were taking a load off rather than the other way around. He took a deep breath of fresh air as though they were off for an adventure while turning his head to directly face her. "Ready?"

And whether Avalbane was ready or not, Juno began to trudge off in the direction of the dorms leaving the office building behind. On the way towards the place, which was a rather short trek, Juno made sure to point out to Avalbane the vague distant main buildings of the SA campus telling her that she would certainly get used to the setup and she could get a closer look after getting settled in at the dorms. After they'd walked a good ten to fifteen minutes and mindless Juno blathering, they arrived in front of Avalbane's dorm room.

"So here we are." He said triumphantly. "Let's see if anyone's inside..." He knocked a couple times on the door and when there was no response, he shrugged and allowed himself in to look around a rather empty looking double. "Hm, guess you don't have a roommate yet."

Avalbane McCarthy

xxxxxxxxxxxAvalbane • felt better about putting her burdens on him, especially since he kept reassuring her that he did not mind. It helped. She was taken back a bit when he started to grab items from her hands just after asking. Ava did not really get a chance to react, but that was fine. She would have just told him no, tried to hold it all, caused an accident and hurt herself. That would probably be how things would have went. It would have been awesome.

"A-Ah..um, t-tanks." What else was she to say? Although Ava didn't really mind, she did feel slightly bad for having him carry her stuff too. Maybe next time she wouldn't bring so much. Well, if there was a next time. "R-Ready." As soon as those words left her mouth she was already walking. It seemed Sharp Shooter didn't like to wait around. It was fine, she was trying to stay on his heels the whole time they walked. All she needed was to site see and get lost because he went on ahead. She would look the ways he gestured or talked about and take note of the building. It would most likely take her some time to remember which way was which and how to get there but that would be another adventure all in itself. Maybe another new student would like to go exploring the grounds with her.

Avalbane had listened to him talk the whole time, only throwing in a yah, or uh-huh every so often when she felt she needed to. Most of it seemed to be stuff about the school, nothing about himself, which of course, was what she wanted to know. How else were they suppose to become significant others without learning anything about one another. Suddenly her guide had slowed and stopped at a door. Luckily Avalbane was paying attention or she would have slammed into him. When she stopped, she did slide a little, but that was normal for her bare feet on these hard floors.

When Sharp Shooter pushed open the door, Avalbane slide her way in and looked around. It was a little gray and dull, but nothing some pink and art couldn't make homey. This wouldn't be too bad. Also, not having a roommate wasn't so bad either. This would give her plenty of time to get use to the room and set her stuff up. Which bed should she take? That was one of the important questions going through her mind. Oh well. She would figure this out after thanking Sharp Shooter.

"Tanks. if yer wouldn't mind...umm..yer can umm, jist put me stuff on de bed." She of course was saying this as she was laying all the stuff she had on top of the bed as well. Of course she didn't want him to go just yet, so Avalbane forced herself to talk to him. It didn't really matter what she said, well it did, but she was going to say something. Ask a question! That would do it. "So ye a student 'ere too? Du al' de other students 'av powers?" This information would help her. Hopefully he didn't mind or have other important things to take care of. Which brought up another question. "Are they loike mine?" She was referring to her powers of course, but he probably didn't even know what her powers were exactly.

Juno was glad to see that Avalbane hadn't fallen or tripped up nearly at all on the way there, and seeing how clumsy she'd been in the first few moments of meeting he imagined it was quite a feat for her. Doing just as she asked, he gently plopped down her things on the bed she'd chosen. He'd forgotten what it was like living in the dorms, lack of privacy. And sharing a room with Hack was certainly.... Interesting. As he was taking a nostalgic glance around the room, he turned to look at her as she asked him a few questions.

Taken aback with a little surprise, although not too much considering it had been happening quite a few times since being back, that she didn't seem to notice that he was a teacher. He chuckled. "Oh no, I'm not a student. I watch over target practice, so I guess that technically makes me a teacher." He winked at the youth. "And yes, I do believe that most students have powers. However, I have not met one yet with ones similar to yours." He added thoughtfully. "Yours have something to do with cold, right?" Recalling the fact that when he had rescued her, she felt surprisingly chill.

Waltzing over to the door, he leaned on the handle. "Would you like me to show you where the cafeteria is? I'm sure that'll be something you want to know." He smirked. It was definitely one of his favorite places on campus. Food. Who didn't like that?
