The young queen stretched her wings, eyes going skyward. Not for the first time either. With the way things were currently, Cepheith was not able to stretch her wings as much as she would have liked. Flying around the Weyr didn't cut it. But she wasn't stupid. Not at all. The gold knew and understood why they could not venture out like some of the other dragons might. She snorted up at the sky before returning to watching the activities of the other dragons and riders.

It almost doesn't seem fair. Cepheith mused softly to her bonded.

Narisa sat on a rock by the edge of the lake while she watched the golden one, a feeling of unrest slithering through her. Here. It had been here that Abigail was attacked. The man that had done it had been killed. But she couldn't say for sure she felt 'safe'. And Abigail...what would happen if she didn't wake up?

There was a snort of warm breath against her, startling Narisa out of her thoughts. She flailed, having jumped enough to unbalance herself. With a small yip like sound, Narisa fell off the rock.

"Cepheith!" She shot a look at the gold dragon, who was standing there the perfect statue of innocence. With a groan, Narisa got back to her feet, brushing off her pants. A part of her was really hoping no one saw that.

Your mind was in chaos, Narisamine. I felt you needed something to jar you out of it. Cepheith lowered her head to nudge her rider, eyes hooding over as Narisa sighed and rubbed her snout.

"You're right. Sorry. Guess I'm still trying to...cope. Or maybe it's fear that I'm still not ready for our role?" Or that she was thinking too much and needed to find something more active to do.

You are ready. We both are. Have a little faith in yourself, Mine. And besides, I think we may have company joining us! With a warm rumble of affection, Cepheith nuzzled her rider before twisting her head around to see who it was venturing their way.

Optheli had been busily, and happily, cleaning for most of the day. Dynith and Ismay had their baths and oil. It had started with just a little dusting of the top shelves of her weyr. Then the dust had fallen down to the next level, and the next, and the next. Deciding that there was no help for it, the greenrider went to the kitchens and had the drudges bring up enough cleaning supplies for her. After that she spend quite a bit of time going through her rooms and rooting out the dust. Sure she could have gotten the drudges to do it for her, but she was use to doing it herself.

Just then she felt Dynith shift her body for the seventh or eigth time. She peered around the wall at the green. "What is it?" she asked. Optheli only got a funny feeling from her dragon. She grinned. "Well what you have is restlessness. C'mon all this dust can't be good for us. We can take a walk while it settles." She laughed and tossed down her rags. A quick change into a blouse and skirts and she was ready to go.

She went to meet Dynith at the entrance and her flit fluttered over to her shoulder. With her hand resting softly on the right foreleg of her dragon, the pair ambled off. At first the green tended to jump at anything. Optheli would patiently and calmly reassure her; trying to boost the green's confidence. It was particularly bad with bronzes or silvers around. She changed direction to head away from them. Though it wasn't long before the green had other worries.

Dynith quivered a little and half paused. Mine..... Mine the Gold is up ahead. Her eyes whirled quickly with yellow. Oh she did not want to disturb a gold. Optheli grinned. "No worries love. Lets go meet them and say hi." The young woman 'pulled' her dragon along with her. She knew Dynith wouldn't leave her side if she didn't have to.

Cepheith regarded the pair coming towards them with a slightly forced cheerful air about her. She was still feeling that longing to stretch her wings to their max, but that had nothing to do with the green pair. And she did not recognize them, which meant new person and dragon to meet! Greetings! She spoke to both of the approaching duo.

Narisa regained some of her composure, placing a hand against Cepheith's foreleg. She smiled and gave the green and her rider a small wave in greeting.

"As Cepheith says, greetings. How are the two of you today?" She politely inquired.

The gold seemed to catch some of the hesitancy in the green. Careful of her rider, Cepheith settled herself back down, crossing her forelegs. She trilled softly yet pleasantly towards the green, not wanting her to fear her. Hello, friend. I do not believe I've had the pleasure of meeting your or yours. I am Cepheith. This is Narisamine.

Optheli had not been expecting a personal greeting from the gold and started a bit in surprise at the unfamiliar voice. She laughed and headed closer. "Good day! I fear your beauty got the jump on us," she said as she got within speaking range. "It certainly makes for a pleasant surprise. Good day to you too young gold." Her eyes crinkled in good humor.

"We're doing excellent. Getting out and stretching our legs while the dust settles." Her grin encouraged Narisa to join in. "I'm Optheli, and my green is Dynith."
The gold's trill brought her head up and slowed the speed of her eyes, but the yellow still remained. Dynith bobbed her head slightly to the gold's rider. Mine is Optheli. After that, the green tried to duck her head behind her rider.

Feeling a muzzle against the back of her legs, Optheli reached around and stroked the end softly. A soft trill in her ear brought her back. "Oh I forgot one. My flit is Ismay."

Narisa couldn't help but laugh a little. "Aye, she does tend to do that. Loves greeting everyone herself. Sorry if she surprised you at all." She added the last after a quick thought on the fact not all dragons were known to speaking to someone else besides their bonded. Something Narisa occasionally forget since it was just something normal about Cepheith. Said gold dragon hummed appreciatively at the greeting and dipped her head in silent response to the Optheli.

A pleasure, to meet you, Dynith. The gold tried to send her green counterpart warmth and friendliness. A shy thing. That's what the older dragon was. Cepheith crooned again, lowering her head and nudging her bonded.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet both of you, Optheli. Dynith." She gave the dragon trying to hide behind her rider a sweet look. "Stretching your legs, huh? Well would you both enjoy some extra company?" Her hand reached out to stroke the gold snout that nudged her. A grin sprang forth at mention of the flit. "Hello to you too, Ismay!" Huh, it dawned on Narisa to wonder where her two flitters were at this time. Hopefully sleeping back in their weyr.

Yes! May we join the both of you? Cepheith asked in an attempt to hopefully make Dynith feel less shy or uneasy around her.

Optheli giggled and waved aside her apology. "Think nothing of it. It's a pleasure and delight to speak to her." She was delighted that the gold was so friendly. Perhaps Dynith might warm up to her. This had turned out to be an excellent idea.

"Indeed, its a lovely day for a walk. We'd be pleased to have your company. Company is always preferrable. Any direction your preference?" Ismay sat up as her voice climbed in a high trill at being greeted. Optheli laughed and patted the green. "She says hello back."

Dynith blinked and lifted her head slightly from behind her rider. A gold was happy to meet her? She shifted uncomfortably for a moment. Then her eyes widened as said gold asked, asked, to join them. I.... oh.... I mean of course Cepheith. That is if you want to... to walk with a green.

"I'm glad to hear that. I often forget that not every dragon is so willing to speak to everyone like Cepheith is." Narisa said a little sheepishly, taking just a step away from her lifemate while the gold got to her feet. Cepheith, of course, privately informed Narisa that she would never step on her! To which the auburn-haired girl snickered softly. <I know, dear heart. I was just being polite!>

Cepheith shook herself slightly, wings ruffling and stretching before settling against her back. Even she would admit that Optheli and Dynith had the right idea in a walk. It gave them something to do and a small distraction from the things lurking in the gold pairs minds. She waited for Narisa to take the first steps before she moved to walk behind Hers. Of course this still meant she could lower her head and be mostly level with her rider. But for the moment, she gave Dynith her attention.

Splendid! And of course I want to walk with a green! Why would I not? You are a dragon just as I am and I would be delighted to walk with you.

Narisa smiled at Optheli. "No real preference, so long as it's away from the lake." She didn't voice how the lake made her uneasy, making her think of Abigail. The flitter gained a soft chuckle from her. "If....you don't mind my asking, are you a wingrider?" She asked curious and could honestly say she hadn't met hardly any of the wingriders yet. Names she had started to learn (especially of wingleaders and wingseconds), but it was her goal to know as many faces in the Weyr as she could.

"There's nothing wrong with that Narisa. I think it's excellent and will work in your favor." Optheli had never been spoken to by another dragon. Not even her brother's dragon had bespoken her in the Turns since they'd Impressed. A friendly, out-spoken gold made her feel comfortable around the Junio Weyrwoman. Someone she could come to with her troubles. They would be a potient pair some day.

Since she hadn't been planning any certain direction she nodded when Narisa said not to the lake. It still was much too fresh. The golds had to be careful. "Sure, why don't we walk through the fields and look for flowers? I can make you a lovely flower crown with any type you'd like." She gave a grin, "Even one for Cepheith if we can find enough." It had been so long since she'd spare time to play with the flowers like she'd done in the caravan.

"Yup, sure am."
Dynith followed behind Hers as she started walking. Being sure to give the gold enough room to follow Hers. She glanced nervously at the gold, not wanting to upset her. I just.... you're so big and pretty. I'm just a little green. Dynith did perk up a bit at Cepheith's reassurance.

The goldrider found herself smiling in appreciation at hearing that. "Thanks." She added a little shyly. "And you're right. I bet it would work in my favor. It definitely saves a little time with Cepheith bespeaking others herself." And if she was being quite honest, Narisa knew that it would come in very handy when Cepheith was fully matured and ready to assist the Weyrwoman.

Narisa lightly folded her arms across her middle as they walked, smiling at the Dynith behind Optheli. "She's very sweet. I hope Cepheith isn't making her too nervous." She glanced over her shoulder at the gold one trailing along behind her. Or along with her. It was hard to say the dragon trailed behind when all she had to do was lower her head and be pacing her rider.

"Flowers?" A feminine gleam crept into her eyes. Shards when was the last time she actually saw flowers? Not since she'd been back with the vintners, she thought. "That sounds lovely!" She grinned and laughed at the nudge from behind her. "If we find enough flowers, dear heart. Otherwise maybe a bracelet?" Narisa offered.

Either one sounds wonderful. And flowers will help you relax. The last was added in as an afterthought as Cepheith still picked up the wary thoughts of her rider. She crooned encouragingly before turning to Dynith. Warm amusement was directed to the green. Thank you. And you are not just a 'little green'. Cepheith gently lowered her head to nuzzle Dynith. You are a darling green.

"Your welcome," she responded pleasantly. Optheli felt the pair needed to get out and unwind. The stress on the gold pairs from recent events had been outstanding. She couldn't be sure how they handled it. Her and Dynith would do their best to protect them while giving much needed down time. If anything so much as twitched wrong, Optheli knew her brother and his bronze would be there in a flash. She grinned.

Pleased by Narisa's comment on her green, the teen laughed and looked back at Dynith. "Yes she is, thank you. No, not at all. It will do her much good to social with Cepheith." Her hand reached back to rest a moment on the green muzzle that never went ahead of her, and was never far away.

Optheli was pleased when her suggestion of flowers was well received. They could go out and just be a girls for a time. "Great, I'm glad you think so. Don't worry Cepheith, we'll get enough for you too. What kinds do you like?" She looked at the gold with a smile. Something that matched or stood out with her hide perhaps.

Dynith kept her head close to her rider as they walked. She was still very nervous walking with the gold. For a moment she couldn't believe Cepheith said she wasn't little. How wasn't she little? Her head came up as the gold called her darling. I am? She gave a soft, but pleased croon. Hesitantly Dynith returned the gold's nuzzle.

Narisa felt her shoulders lose more of their tension, little by little. It was nice being out here, socializing with someone other than her dragon. Not that she didn't love the times she and Cepheith just sat talking with one another! But both of them had been suffering from the harsh reality of the danger they could potentially be in. Look at what had happened to their Weyrwoman! Stuck with just themselves, the gold pair found it hard to relax and not slowly lose their minds.

I am not scary. Am I, mine? So many do seem intimidated by the color of my hide. But I do like seeing other dragons! Cepheith crooned softly towards her rider, snout rubbing along her arm briefly.

She smiled, knowing that Cepheith tried not to intimidate any of her fellow dragons. "I'm glad that she isn't. And hope Dynith has a good time with Cepheith at least." Narisa offered the other girl a smile before considering her question, as did her gold lifemate. "I think any flower is nice and am not too picky. What about you? Do you have a flower you really like?" It felt so nice just being...well herself mixed with a dash of girly.

Cepheith's tail flicked behind her as she tilted her head towards Optheli. I would like anything that has a soft smell to it. Her honey warm tones replied pleasantly before she turned back towards Dynith. Yes. You are. She said firmly yet gently. It was truth, as far as the gold was concerned. The green was darling. A soft, sweet rumble that was almost a purr followed the hesitant return nuzzle.

Optheli was really enjoying herself. She hadn't had too much play time since taking over the wagon for herself and her brother. The thought of S'kor doing his own laundry made her giggle. Her attention turned back to the gold pair.

"My little green just worries her head over everything. She'll look back upon this meeting with relish." Or at least as long as she remembered it. Optheli gave a broad grin. "How can I pick just one? They all are so pretty." She laughed at her indecisiveness. The teen turned her attention to Cepheith as she answer. "Soft smell. I'm sure we can find a nice bouque of them."

"Oh look! There's the field Narisa." Optheli lifted her skirts and skipped ahead. A worried croon from her dragon followed her. "Don't worry Dynith we'll be fine. Why not find a sunny spot to lay with Cepheith where you can watch us hunt flowers? If you follow us you might trample the flowers love." She smiled and mentally reassured the dragon. "If anything seems wrong, call Scarath and S'kor."

She was slightly surprised by the adamant reply from the gold. A gold had said it, so it must be true. She was encouraged by the happy rumble Cepheith gave at her nudge. It gave her the strength to do as her rider asked.

Dynith reluctantly agreed. Mine wishes us to lay out of the way Cepheith. Where would you like to go? She could accomidate herself to the gold.

Narisa glanced over at the green warmly as Optheli spoke. She really was pretty adorable, as Cepheith had said. "We're glad to give her something nice to look back on! And we really do both appreciate the company." Especially someone that was (at least in her eyes) at ease around them. Or more specifically Cepheith. It hadn't escaped Narisa's notice that some people - and dragons - seemed to get uneasy or more formal when around them. Really though, the two of them didn't bite!

Very often anyways. The gold added on to her rider's thought with amusement.

"I agree! It's so hard to find just one that is prettier than the others. Back home, whenever I did find some free time to buy flowers from the market, I usually just got something that had several different kinds and colors." Home. She'd have to write her family again soon. They were worried and she'd done her best to assure them she and Cepheith were alright. Not that that would ease her families fears. Or our own.

The gold gave Optheli a dip of her head in understanding, turning to Dynith. Why not just over there? She pointed with her snout and added an image of the area she spoke of. It was in the sun, had no flowers (or very little), and would allow them both to watch their persons easily. Does that spot look alright to you?

"S'kor and Scarath?" Narisa asked curiously. The names didn't ring a bell very much. She was sure she'd probably heard them before, but never met the pair personally.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2011 11:56 am

"Thank you so much. I've been trying to show her that she doesn't need to worry. I'll just keep showing her however long it takes." Optheli smiled fondly at her green. Dynith was a dear and she loved her with all her heart. "I'm sure you do." Poor Narisa, she thought. Surrounded by all those bronze riders with only one thought in their puny little heads. Well maybe two. Protect the queen, and Flights. Silly boys.

The teen gave Narisa a wide grin. "Traveling with the caravan I got to pick wild flowers when we stopped. Personally I think they're better than cultivated ones. You can get all kinds growing wild, so when you pick some you never quite know what you'll be getting." It was part of the surprise too that she liked so much. Quickly she bent down and carefully selected a number of flowers. She had them tied together in a loop in no time, and then popped it over Ismay's green head.

Ismay twittered and preened with her flowers. She was a pretty flit! Optheli giggled and petted her. "Yes you are lovely. Go join Dynith now and keep her company." A quick cheek nuzzle from the green, then she left her shoulder. Flitting over to catch up with the dragons.

"Oh I thought for sure you would know him. S'kor is my brother. We Impressed at the same Hatching. You should have seen the look on his face when the little bronze climbed up into the Stands and sat beside him." Optheli was having trouble holding back giggles at the memory. "Or you might have heard rumors about a bronze getting stuck in the tunnel to the kitchen? Yup that was Scarath."

Dynith lifted her head to see where the gold indicated. Matching it up with the picture in her mind til she got the right place. Yes. Yes I think that will make Mine happy. Thank you, and after you. She gave a shy little bow to let the gold lead the way.

"Well, you two are both more than welcome to come join us whenever we're out here for some 'free' time." Not that they really got much of that. For all that they were confined and not really allowed to go do anything - for good reason - they did get some time to wander out of their weyr and to the lake. Just with ever watchful eyes on them. Someone to share the time with was nice and more enjoyable.

A smile lit her face. "You were in a traveling caravan? What was that like?" She had never ventured much past her home. And life revolved around cultivating the wines, caring for the ingredients that went into them, brewing new things to appease the clientele. In fact, Narisa only really left home when they went to the market. Otherwise, she didn't get out much.

"Forgive me for asking." She added. "I never left the vintner crafthall much."

Her brows furrowed as she tried to draw up the name and maybe a face. Which was doubled when Optheli mentioned he was her brother. Narisa felt slightly embarrassed that she couldn't pick out the bronze rider's face. And she'd been working hard to learn everyone! Especially the bronzes as they would hold some importance when Cepheith was fully matured.

"Actually...I think I have heard something about that! About the kitchen incident, I mean." Narisa giggled a little. "He actually tried to get into the kitchen?" She asked, feeling much more light-hearted and like herself for once. "Wait, he climbed up in the stands?!" That must have been one determined little bronze!

I believe we've seen him before, as we've seen all the bronzes at least once. Cepheith said, sifting through what she could remember as well as her rider's thoughts. If not, we shall make an effort to meet him now! The gold reassured her rider. Hers did try very hard to succeed in what was expected of her. Cepheith had endless faith in her rider. She knew she could do it!

Cepheith stretched her wings out before settling them comfortably against her back and sending Dynith a warm acknowledgement of agreement. It would make both Theirs happy indeed. And they could soak up the warmth from the sun. Perfect. The gold moved towards the location in mind and carefully settled herself down, head twisting around to watch her green companion. How are you and yours holding up with the recent events? Cepheith inquired. Contrary to popular belief, she cared about all the dragons of the Weyr. Color did not matter to her.
