Brìghde grit her teeth in total fustration as she topped the ridge and looked back down along the bottom of it, her green eyes searching for that annoying brown and tan figure that was starting to become all to familer to her.

What part of when a girl says no she means no does he not GET! she growled to herself in irritation as she hopped back down from the ridge and into the long grass that lead toward the leafy and dense undergrowth of the jungle. Catching one of the broad branches, she pulled herself up onto it, and began to trot along its huge length, hoping to lose herself inside the thick under growth.

She just had to be very careful not to get anywhere near the border of the secretive and very, very grumpy clan that made their home here. They did not tolerate strangers and tended to attack first and ask questions to your corpse afterwards, or so the word on the plains was. Brighde tended to listen to the word on the plain. It kept her alive.

Though it was tempting to get just close enough and have them deal with her annoying shadow.

Lucivar hummed softly under his breath as he wadded through the tall grass. The weather was delightful, the never ending sunshine gave everything a golden glow and the warmth had sunk deep into his mountain bones and filled them with a thick warmth like honey. Old aches he had never realised he possessed eased up and his walk was that of a juvenile again, free and full of energy. Hunting was interesting here, requiring different tactics for sure, but he had learned a variety of skills in his wanderings and as yet, he had not truly struggled to find enough to eat.

But the real joy of his day was watching the fiery red and black lioness as she went about her regular tasks, most of which seemed to be hunting and stalking. Grinning wide as he watched her creep up the ridge only to stand outlined by the vibrant cerulean of the sky behind her. So beautiful, like the sunset, and just as violent. Grinning he continued on, following her as she crept through the thick dry grass.

What in the name of all the Gods had she done to deserve this? Brìghde asked herself for hundredth or more so time as she looked over her shoulder to see him still there!

Growling low under her breath she decided she had enough of his none sense and turned around to wait for him under the leafy canopy of the huge branched tree she had been walking on. Normally she would be awed at the size of the trees and the beauty of the jungle around her as it began to change into something more then just umbrella plants, but right now her temper was surely getting the better of her.

When he came into view under her, she snapped down at him, " For the love of meerkats, why do you keep stalking me!"

Pausing at her snarling voice above he looked up to where he was perched on a branch, expression lazy yet that infuriating smile curled across his maw. "Waiting for you to see sense." He chuckled, pale sky-blue eyes regarding her with a surprisingly warm expression, though he was certainly well aware of her prowess and skills, staying just beyond leaping distance from her branch.

" Seeing sense? Seeing sense of what? You've been following me for the God's know how long, messing up my hunting, messing up my routine, messing up everything! Do you know how hard it is to survive out here alone with out someone to muck it all up? Especially when you are female?"

She huffed at him, " You told me yourself you're pride born, you've never been hungry in your life, or scared, or cold and alone...which when you have someone following you doubles all that. So do me a favor..go away!" The sunset lioness hissed at him."

Those blue eyes just kept on watching her, yet that warm, cocky grin faded away, leaving his expression cold, the power and strength of him suddenly very much in evidence simply by the lack of friendliness his expression had held until now.

"Being part of a pride does not automatically guarantee any of those things. You can be alone in the middle of a crowd. Cold without friends beside you. Hungry when you are so low in the pecking order you are never allowed to eat." He gazed at her for a long time, something in his expression she had never seen before. Then, without explanation, a word or any hint as to what he thought, he turned and suddenly vanished into the long grass. Where as before she had always been able to see him, this time, he simply disappeared into thin air.

" Finally," she muttered, and laid down on the branch. If she'd known all it would have taken was to insult him and what ever Pride he'd come from, she'd have done it awhile ago.

Suddenly her stomach let her know it was hungry, and that with the male following her she'd not been able to hunt properly in several days, but night was coming, so it would be another night of hunger and maybe a hunt in the morning.

Sighing, she laid her head on her paws, and closed her eyes to try and sleep around her complaining stomach.

It wasn't that long until a faint noise near by disturbed the growing shadows of night as they crept across the land. Almost lost under the tiny sounds of the small nocturnal creatures that were just waking up, the sound was from something far heavier sliding to the ground with a muffled thud.

Brìghde lifted her head, and sat up, slipping a little further back into the umbrella leaves. Well, so much for a nights sleep she thought as she lifted her lip, what had she done to deserve the past week,

Yet after a moment, the wind shifted and the thick, warm scent of fresh blood, a fresh kill, wafted past where the female sat. The scent was most assuredly from a buffalo, a young male. The faintest trace of the lion that had been following her accompanied the mouth-watering scent of dinner, for he stood beside it, but his musk was well covered by the meat he had brought for her.

Brìghde thought about refusing the offering, but her stomach told her if she did it would crawl out of her and choke her dead. So with another sigh, she came out of her hiding and looked down at him.

" You really are not going to give up are you?" Why? I'm just a female, with no ties, no family, a coat that makes it impossible to hunt, skinny as all hell, and a temper to match its color. Why would you even want to bother with me?

Lucivar laid beside the carcass, his powerful, muscular frame relaxed, forelimbs crossed causally as he licked at one paw. Looking up as she finally emerged his expression seemed both calm and yet open, inviting her to join him without putting any pressure on her to actually do so.

At her question he tilted his head, looking thoughtful, actually spending the time to analyze his feelings and give her an honest answer. "I admire your pride and tenacity, you are tough to survive out here on your own. I enjoy that you don't hide your feelings, but are honest in how you think and thus, how you live. You try your hardest rather than sit back and let the world push you around."

Finally he offered a smile, expression softening just a little. "I guess I am simply drawn to you, and I don't want to leave without you by my side."

Brìghde arched and eyebrow at his words, and flowed down the branch with a predator's grace, even if she was overly thin, when she filled out with the right weight on her, and a healthy shine on her coat, she was going to be beautiful.

She eyed him and the food, and sat down opposite from where he lay, " Alright, lets say I go with you, what can your Pride offer me, and if I do go..what do I go as to you. Becasue no Pride I know EVER lets a rouge, certainly not a female, just walk into it."

Something spiked through his chest as she finally came down out of the tree, apparently to accept his offering. Yet he knew she would retreat from him at the slightest mistake on his part. For the first time he worried about making that mistake, that he might scare her off completely and loose this fragile new feeling slowly growing within him.

Listening to her question he flicked an ear thoughtfully, remaining laying down so he didn't seem threatening as she approached. "You would be my thrall." He finally replied, deciding frank honesty was the best option in this case. "That is... you would hunt for me and me alone, as opposed to a thrall who provides for everyone in the pride.. " Pausing he looked down, weirdly shy all of a sudden. ".. if agreeable, may one day bare my cubs." He continued in a rush, wanting to get the rest out before she had the chance to interrupt and flat out refuse him. "In return I will protect you and provide for you in all other ways. And if anyone hurt you in any way, they would answer to me." Taking a breath he looked up, almost dreading her reaction to his words.

Brìghde eyed him, thinking he was leaving something out, because the word he used, Thrall, sounded like a title of some kind that was below that of what she had now, that being freedom. To give herself time to think about what he said, she bent her muzzle down to take a neat bite out of the meat in front of her, despite her stomach's want to just rip into it.

" So, what you are saying is that I hunt, you eat, and in turn you protect me? Brother, that sounds an awful lot like what I already got here. Only I get to protect myself, and this Thrall word..yeah..explain that to me, because that sure don't sound like its a title that is overly desirable. It almost sounds like you are saying pet, or cub making pet."

If anything Brìghde was sharp, and her green eyes watched him intently as she took another neat bite of meat, reminding him she owned her own set of wicked teeth.
