Custom guidelines

  • We don't officially allow cosplays (you may not use cosplay names or reserve non-OCs). That said, you can use a full custom to have your guardian colored any way you want, even after a character, as long as it follows the color/edit rules.

  • Guardians are mostly natural in coloration with the exception of their eyes, which can be any color. Muted, semi-natural coat colors such as lavender-tinted gray or pink-tinted brown are acceptable, but rare. More unnatural and vivid colors tend to be restricted to smaller markings or accents and shouldn't be too bright or clashing.

  • Markings can be unnatural in shape (ex, swirls) but are still organic in feel (no perfectly-formed circles, straight lines, etc). We do not allow symbols as markings.

  • Human clothing is not available as edits; cloth and armor items should look similar to something that would be worn on a horse IRL. Things that might be put onto a guardian by their chosen like necklaces and scarves are also acceptable. Currently we do not allow wings, non-deer horns, or different tail or hoof styles as edits.

  • All customs come with a totem, even if they are adult-stage only. You may pick your totem pose with a full custom.

Custom types

Mini Custom
  • 50k non-growing adult (includes totem) / 75k growing (all stages through buck/doe)
  • You may specify the guardian's gender and ONE color or color-related adjective, but everything else is up to the colorist!
  • Due to their low price, mini customs will generally be fairly simple in appearance.
  • Example 1: Male, golden-brown
  • Example 2: Female, pale

Semi-custom
  • 100k non-growing adult (includes totem) / 150k growing (all stages through buck/doe)
  • You may pick one simple marking/marking location and up to three colors for a semi-custom (the color of the markings and eyes, if specified, count toward the limit).
  • Keep in mind that a semi-custom leaves room for colorist interpretation. If you have a very specific appearance in mind, you should try for a full custom instead.
  • Example 1: A dark brownish-gray and black buck with white dapples on his flank.
  • Example 2: A cream-colored doe with blue eyes and soft ginger accents.

Full Custom
  • 200k non-growing adult (includes totem) / 300k growing (all stages through buck/doe)
  • You have complete control over your guardian's appearance as long as it adheres to the appearance and color rules listed above. You may also pick your totem shape and purchase both premade and custom edits with a full custom (please see edit rates in the third post for more details).
  • You will receive a preview of your custom before it is finalized to give you an opportunity to make adjustments; more if your custom has edits.

Familiar/companion customs

  • Companions/familiars are natural in coloration except for their eyes, which may be any color. When we refer to natural colors, we generally mean colors that appear on mammals in nature. Rooks may have slightly more diverse color options, but they should still look loosely native to Sunderland — no tropical colors, please!

  • Markings can be unlike those that appear on the species IRL, but they should still have a relatively natural overall feel.

  • Only familiars can have glowing eyes.

Custom types

Semi-custom: 50k
  • Please see guardian semi-customs for rules and examples

Full Custom: 100k
  • Please see guardian full customs for rules and examples

Edit information

  • You must purchase a full custom to add edits (custom and/or premade) to your order.
  • We currently only offer minor edits. Minor custom edits cost 50k - 150k, depending on the complexity of the order; your colorist will give you a quote.
  • Not all colorists are approved for custom edits. It is your responsibility to check before submitting an order! However, all colorists can do premades.
  • If desired, you can purchase both custom edits and premade edits for the same guardian, mixing and matching your look.
  • Edits currently only apply to adult guardians. If you purchase a growing guardian with edits, its edits won't appear until it reaches adulthood.

Custom edit pricing examples

This isn't an exhaustive list of the kinds of edits you can custom, just examples to help you predict where your request might land on the pricing continuum. Keep in mind that different colorists are better at drawing different things, and pricing will vary somewhat depending on who's doing your custom. Please respect your colorist's quote as final. Colorists have the right to turn down edits that they judge too large/complex to count as minor, or edits that they think they wouldn't be able to do a good job on for any reason.

  • 50k: 1-2 extremely small, simple accessories (example, example)
  • 75k: 1 small, somewhat detailed accessory (example, example)
  • 100k: 1 small, somewhat detailed accessory + 1 small, simple accessory (example)
  • 125k: 1 modestly sized, fairly complex item (example, example)
  • 150k: 1 modestly sized, fairly complex item + 1 small, simple accessory
