“He went this way! Let’s get him!” A man shouted inside the settlement, but had quickly been making his way towards the gate.

“Is it the same one as before?” JB asked, his striped female mokai in tow.

“Yes sir. Dark fur, white feet and that horn like Ai’s. We are positive.”

“…Good. I want that mokai.” JB growled, tugging Ai has he ran after the shadow creature. “Ai.”

His mokai looked up from her position beside him. Yes?

“Go after him.” Reaching down, JB unleashed the clip on the collar. Without a second though, Ai quickly sped up, past the running men, and down the street. The feral’s scent still lingered in the air greatly, she knew he was around.

“I know you are around here,” Ai snarled. Normally, when humans were not around, her demeanor was not as hostile. She was putting on an act, though it was very believable. “You can’t hide from me.”

“Wanna bet,” the voice was gruff. It was heaving slightly from being chased, but held a tone as it still had so more fight let in it. The mokai stepped out from the shadows, presented himself to the female fighter. “Get out of my way, little girl or else I’ll move you myself.”

“You know I can’t do that.” Ai said calmly, her golden gaze flickering away from the male for just a moment, trying to get inside his mind for an escape route he may go for. “Who are you, anyways?”

“And why can’t you?” Light eyes fell upon the collar and the little tag that gleamed from it. “Because you are a pet? Doing your bidding of the humans? Pathetic.” The mokai stated.

“How would you know? You have never even lived inside here!” Ai snapped.

“Oh, ho. On the contrary my dear little pet. I too use to live inside here too, when I was much younger.” The stranger wasn’t adept to speaking his whole life story to others. He just left it at that.

“Let me guess, ‘the wild was calling you’.” Now it was her turn to sound sarcastic. This mokai was the one that had been returning on a nightly basis lately, so much that is had attracted the attention of JB. After Ai had her pups, and Leticia had told her husband she wanted the little girl, JB had made it so he would find a male suitable to enter into his fighting regime and possibly stud out.

The feral shrugged. “You could say that. But enough chit-chat. Those humans are coming, and I’ll be damned if I am caught by them. So, I tell you again. Move aside.”

“No.”

“Then you leave me no choice.” With quick speed, the black and white male rushed after Ai, his head downward so his horn was facing her. In the wild, you learned how to protect yourself right from the start. Him being born with this appendage meant he had the extra advantage while others only had their claws and fangs for it.

Though, whatever was going through the stranger’s mind, Ai was curious if he had noticed that she too held a similar horn. She assumed that this mokai must have been of fighter nature at one time, as he had the larger build. He almost toppled over her. However, Ai was determined. She would prove to her owner that she could do this! The last time she had met a mokai out in the wild, it had been a flop. Maybe the fact it had been Cellen, someone she knew, that deterred her away from bringing him back to the settlement, but whatever the reason, JB had been quite disappointed with her, and hadn’t taken her anywhere other than the training pits when he had time when not fussing with his new baby.

He had only just started letting her out for a bit, spending the time with her as he once had. Ai would make sure she would not disappoint him again.

Bracing herself for the oncoming attack, Ai waited for horns to clash, but they never did. Somehow, the male had gone around her, jumping or sidestepping up the side of the wall briefly as he flew past. That wouldn’t do! “…Hey!” Ai growled, quickly following the male. He must be heading for the gate….Taking a chance; she swung down an alleyway, maneuvering through the skinny street, exiting just by walls of the compound. Speeding off towards the gate, Ai slid to a stop, watching, waiting, hoping, that the feral would just make it this way.

Luckily for her, that chance paid off. “How…did…you?” The strange mokai looked around, as if the striped mokai had appeared from nowhere. “Cheap pet tricks.” He growled, turning on the offensive again.

Ai could see the human shadows in the distant. Hurry up already. she watched them, before making her first move on the dark mokai. “Why can’t you understand I can’t let you go!” She snarled, crashing her body into the larger feral.

“Why can’t you understand I can’t be caught again!” Growls and snarls filled the air, just like that had done in the compound. It was something Ai was use to, but at the same time wasn’t. She was brought up to fight inside the compound only, yet here she was, intertwined with this feral, lashing out at him as if he were just another battle opponent.

“There they are!” JB shouted, the rope in his hand. The other men, (and some mokai that had been brought as well), quickly surrounded the two fighting mokai.

At the mass of people that came near them, the feral mokai froze, holding onto Ai’s now broken collar in his maw. The female lay underneath him, small trickles of blood riveting from cuts gleaming in the moonlight. Good timing, she scoffed in her head, kicking her back feet up into the feral’s gut.

Being taken aback, one of the scrawny men was the first to jump onto the distracted mokai, throwing his hands around his neck. Another followed, and another after that, until it was a giant dog pile on the bucking feral mokai. With the slip lead in his hand, JB quickly through it over the dark male’s neck, pulling it so it tightened quickly. Cheers from the men atop the mokai arouse as they got off the defeated creature one by one.

Ai rolled onto her belly, lifting herself to her feet as she grabbed her broken collar, bringing it to JB. He broke it. she said to the male, glaring at the mokai who was glaring at the people.

“Good job, Ai.” Taking the collar from the small female’s mouth, JB gave a big smile. “Gentlemen! Victory is ours! Let me get down to the compound and in a cage for quarantine, and then I’ll meet you all at the tavern. First rounds on me!” This caused the group of men to cheer again.

“Come on, creature. I have many things planned for you.” JB smirked, tugging on the resisting mokai’s neck.

“I’d just walk with him if I were you.” The scaly female spoke quietly, following next to her master. “He’ll drag you if he has too.”

The feral, now caught, told the female with a wicked glare. “Just because you are some kind of pet, doesn’t mean I will be.” Another tug at his neck, and paws being dragged in the dirt caused the mokai to sneer.

“…Just wait. You'll see.”
