With a heavy grunt, his hooves pounded the grass below. He had a rough landing, but then again he had a hard flight. It was part of his training really. D'mitri would fly as high as he could and then plummet downward always trying to do his best to catch himself at the proper moments and points that he set himself. One with wings was no good unless he knew how to control and properly use them. His body was beaded with sweat as he panted, his heart pounding against his ribs, and his musk heavy in the air. It was quite obvious that he had tired himself out, and after much consideration thought it best to take a little break. He shook his head to keep the mane from his eyes. They scanned the horizon as he trotted over toward a small pool. He dipped his head in the cool waters then held his head up shaking the water from his face. Droplets flew from his neck and head before relaxing, mane and bangs still spiked naturally. D'mitri took a cool drink for a while. Things were quiet for the most part, and naturally he hadn't seen much of anyone all day. In reality, he had indeed met a few other azrein - mostly females - and was wondering why he had yet to meet any males. Was this Isle nothing but females? If so, they would be dreadfully disappointed in him. D'mitri had yet to think of finding a partner let alone mate and continue his lineage. He had no time for such a thing. "Maybe I flew to the wrong place." The draco-azrein snorted to himself. Then again, where was another floating piece of rock like this? D'mitri highly doubted he was on the wrong isle, but it was possible that he was in an area that was heavily populated by mares. And here he was complaining. Damn. The stallion really needed to re-think his life if he was complaining about mares. His tail flicked behind him as he stretched his body before deciding whether or not to call it a day on the training. There was always tomorrow and sometimes a little leisure was never a bad thing. He stood next to the pool drinking his hearts content for the while enjoying himself for a time.

What was that? Something overhead, a thumping kind of noise, most distracting. Nyx knew she was in some kind of alcove, because she heard the sound of wind rustling in the leaves overhead, thick and sluggish...That, and that she'd run into no less than six different trees, and now her front hooves were in the pool before her. She frowned a bit, wondering why she was here. Oh yeah. Seru. Her Chosen had wandered off again, and left her behind, sleeping standing in a cavern, her blindfold snug around her head. She had awakened to dozens, no, hundreds of bats flying out, shrieking overhead, startling her and making her scream like a little filly again. She hated bats... They freaked her out a bit. There was somebody nearby, and he mentioned flying. He was another Azrein, and his scent was strong- he had probably been working hard someplace nearby. She lifted her head, and... Thunked it into a low branch. "Ow~! Stupid...Stupid trees..." she grumbled, and then shook herself, and walked out of the shelter quietly, careful about the depth of the water. It was fairly shallow, but she couldn't see, and there could be dropoffs at any point... "Hello, there, stranger..."

His ears perked forward hearing the loud footfalls and sounds of an approaching azrein. He lifted his head to take a good whiff of the wind to see if it scent him any scent. He smelled something brief for a moment before seeing the mare come from the trees. He tilted his head wondering why she ran into the branch. Strange? Was she blind?
His question was answered as she came forward a little closer revealing her whole body. Her face had some sort of thing on it which covered her eyes. Strange. He took another breath of scent in an attempt to figure out whether or not she stank of human. There was mostly cave, wood scent, and bat on her. His nose wasn't that good to detect human stink. At her greeting, he gave a gentle snort. "Hello to you. Disadvantaged much?" He tilted his head then bent down again to lap up some more of the water. His tail flicked and wings shuffled as he watched her carefully. She was strange standing still like that. Then again she was blind.

"Not when I'm not wearing this godsawful thing..." Nyx smirked, and stepped closer, ears straining forward as she moved towards him, and stopped a good three feet away. She could smell him quite strongly now, and offered him a smile.
"Did you have a long run or something? You should take a dip in the pool, cool off...If my friend were here, she could rub you down, if you didn't mind, and I could get this thing off my eyes...And maybe bum an apple off of her..." she muttered, the last part more to herself. She lifted her leg, lovering her head, and tried to paw off the blindfold. No luck- it was tucked under her halter. Fine then- it would stay on, she supposed.
She paused, and then spoke up again. "M'name's Nyx... and you are?" she asked, tilting her head. She was looking off to his left shoulder a bit, off by a foot or so.

D'mitri paused to consider what she said. The mare seemed confident even though one of her vital senses had been currently hindered. He snorted a little. "I'm sure." The draco-azrein's head tilted watching her come closer toward him and then stop. For a blind one, she sure was comfortable in open space. He hadn't really been this close to someone who couldn't see him...and he wasn't sure why the experience was making him nervous. It could be a possibly that if she fell, he'd feel obligated to help her which meant touching another being - a female - and it was something he still wasn't sure about.
His head and ears perked forward as she spoke again. He felt like he was being lectured to by one who shouldn't be doing any such thing. She didn't know who and what he was. He couldn't help but glare at her even though she couldn't see it. "I train to be stronger. Not running, but flying. Pool water for drinking, not bathing. Strong scent warn others I am here." The part about the friend was slightly lost to him. It only occurred to him that she meant human and he couldn't help but growl in disgust. "Not one for human touch and stink." He growled low baring teeth as more of a habit rather than anything else. But he calmed as he watched her try to take off her blindfold. He pitied her a little, but it was all the sympathy she would receive. It was her own fault that she would allow a human to do such a thing to her eyes. Idiocy really.
D'mitri lowered his head to steal a little bit more water. He felt his body cool down from standing there and taking a break. He stretched his wings again to try and keep them limber. There was no telling when he had to take off at a moment's notice. His ears flicked forward as she spoke again. This mare was a little chatty. But then again she had to know her surroundings. The question was one D'mitri was used to encountering, but still not comfortable with. "Name? If must have, it is Drax." D'mitri knew that wasn't entire true. It was a name he was called by a group of humans one day as he traveled. He didn't think much of it until he was asked his name a while back by another female. One that was slightly crazy and all too flirty and nice. He kept the name in order to hide his true self. It often worked. "Why out here blind?" He suddenly asked a little confused that she would be wandering out here without her human anyway. She was clearly at a disadvantage against the elements and nature. No telling what might happen really.

"My human was with me, and then... well, I dozed off, and she vanished on me... Happens to me a lot...She sleep steps, you see..." she shrugs a bit, and rolls her shoulders. She stepped out of the water, and onto shore, shaking herself a bit, and then frowned a bit at his name. "Drax, hm? And you can fly? So that's what I heard... interesting..."
At his comment on humans, their touch and stench, she wrinkled her nose. "Honestly, my Chosen smells sweet, and she's gentle...A lot like those big apples, as big as my hoof, and red and orange, like a peach..." she chuckled, tilting her head up peacefully, and making an odd noise, like a pleasured sound. "Mmm...Apples..." she muttered, and then turned her head to his direction. "Sorry... I just... really, really love apples... Do you like them?" Stupid, stupid question to ask. Most horses did, but still...Rude to ask.
Nyx yawned a bit, and turned away, and offered him a small smile. "Want to go for a trot? It's a nice day out, and I need to keep on moving...Gotta find my Chosen, before she gets into trouble... or worse...If she finds one of those people that...don't appreciate humans for their simplistic minds... she is truly blind. She wouldn't stand a chance..."

The fact that a human would leave her 'chosen' as Nyx put it while she was sleeping with a blindfold was quite...selfish. D'mitri was equally surprised to find out that this had happened on more than one occasion. "Sleep steps? Strangeness." He shook his head with another annoyed snort lowering his head to take another drink of water. He watched her carefully, holding up a wing to shield him from her water droplets. The draco-azrein noticed her frown and gave a low growl of his own. "Yes. And yes." There were those who were quite interested in his flight it seemed, but he couldn't really understand why. Then again, he couldn't imagine himself without his wings.
D'mitri watched her as she spoke about her human with affection it seemed. But her mind quickly went on to food - apples in particular. They tasted all right to him, but it appeared that this female was simply enraptured with the damn things. "I can hear." He commented as she apologized, flicking his ears back a little. At her question, he couldn't help but cough an annoyance. "No. Not for me." He shook his head. At her invitation of a walk, he eyed her a little. It still surprised him how she was so devoted to this human that seemed like a total ding bat. D'mitri didn't know anything about the bonding process save it was permanent. He wondered if he could even handle being involved in such a thing if he were to go that way anyhow.
"Not sure. But nothing else to do. So yes." He decided that he would follow more out of curiosity than anything else really. He was curious about her human as well as what she would think of him once she got her blindfold off. D'mitri secretly hoped she would get scared of his appearance like most did. But a part of him didn't want that as well. He didn't meet a lot of azrein that seemed to accept him which was his one true desire. He failed at that so many times it was a bit of an expected venture. The stallion couldn't help but scoff. Did he hear right? "Blind calling blind? Ha. All humans simplistic." His ears flicked as he kept a decent pace and distance from her. "Lead on." D'mitri laughed now. Strange how he allowed a blind one to lead their way. But then he realized how sad it was - a metaphor for his life.

"Hey, now...I am not blind underneath this fold...I have eyes that work just fine, better, in fact, than most..." Nyx snorted, and then started herself to trotting, after a brief pause. She took a moment to see which part of her body was warmed most by the sun, and smiled before setting off east, in a nearly straight line.
"Seru tends to be much more so than most, save when it comes to her dancing. Humans may be a bit... daft at times, but they move as gracefully as one of our own kind... Fluidly. Sometimes I wonder if they have bones in their bodies..." Nyx commented to herself, more than to him. She had, rarely enough, watched Seru dance in the streets and clearings, never for anybody else, just because she felt like it.
"She is blind, too, in the sense that she is naive... she trusts her own kind too much... and she is moreso the fool, but... I sometimes envy her her friendliness. I once caught her trying to feed a Bayrel...and he seemed to be enjoying it. I think, because of her blindness, she has no fear of appearance..." Nyx murmured softly, and then paused, ears flicking forward. Then she sighed, and relaxed again. "So, you travel alone?"

He chuckled at her all the same. Sure she had working eyes under the blindfold, but they were no use to her as of right now, hence, she was blind. D'mitri snorted watching her choose her direction. his head tilted watching her trot toward the sun. Strange. He began following her keeping the rear.
As Nyx spoke of her chosen being graceful, D'mitri had his doubts. He simply refused to think that this human could be like one of their kind. Or hers rather. D'mitri considered himself something of an off-shoot. He flicked his tail a little flicking his ears forward. "Humans have bones." D'mitri had crushed enough of them to know. Survival was a disgusting thing sometimes. As she continued on about this Seru, D'mitri began to wonder what this bonding process really did to an azrein. It was as if she couldn't imagine a life without her human. The stallion simply wondered why on the isle would this be a good thing and why the king of this land would promote it.
At the question, he snorted. "Yes. Keep my own pace. Not tied down." His wings flexed a little keeping easy stride with the mare. He thought a moment before risking to ask a question. "Your human...that important?"

"Yes...To me, she is very important..." Nyx murmured softly, and then paused, rolling her shoulders again, before tilting her head back and turning it as if to look at him. "I know that, no matter what happens today, tomorrow, or in the past, that I'll always have a friend. Always."
"And I know humans have bones. I once got into a spot of trouble when I was younger, just a filly... and Seru kicked a male so hard, his ribs caved in. That was the day I chose her. We have been together ever since, although..." she murmured softly, continuing on her way, "She tends to wander when I sleep, and vice versa... and I prefer my space sometimes... That's the way of it..."

He had to value her loyalty, that much he gave the mare. He flicked his ears more so in thought. It was also strange to him that she was so sure in her heart that she would have a friend - no matter what. It held a certain appeal...to have someone be with you no matter what. But what's to stop the so called chosen from leaving? He snorted still not trusting himself to anyone or anything.
D'mitri couldn't help but cough. "If know, why ask?" This female was all but confusing to him sometimes. The next part was even stranger for him. How could her human be a warrior and yet quite naive? He shook his head a little still unsure of how to place Nyx and her human. "Strange. You two need yet not need one another." His head tilted watching her closely. "Correct?" His hooves kicked up the ground a little as they continued on, eyes watching out for anything that might come in the way.

"I did not ask if humans had bones... I merely commented on their seeming bonelessness when they dance..." Nyx offered him a small grin, and closed her eyes beneath the fold. She paused, and flicked her ears forward. "You'll see for yourself in a few moments. I'd recognize that voice anywhere..." she smiled, and then set herself into a steady, fast gait. She moved well, and smoothly...Until she crashed into a tree. "OW!" she cried out, and shook herself off, angrily. "Stupid tree..."
"Hey, Nyx, is that you, darling?" a soft, human voice speaks quietly. She approaches quietly, and goes towards the noise, tapping around with a travelers staff. She did smell nice, not like most humans.
"Yes, Chosen, I'm here...GET THIS DAMN BLINDFOLD OFF OF ME!" she shouted, stomping her forehooves down angrily. Seru laughed, and trotted towards the impatiently standing mare. She felt her way up to the mare's neck, and gently tugged her blindfold off.

Confusion. This mare was complete confusion. And yet she seemed so confident of her confusion and self. D'mitri gave a small grunt simply keeping quiet for now. His ears flicked forward as he too heard something, but it was a strange something. D'mitri watched her as she went a little faster to which he adapted pace. The tree came too fast for her to notice as well as too fast for him to call out to her. For some reason, the draco-azrein actually thought she'd step out of the way.
It was then that his nostrils caught a faint smell. He took a large whiff and noticed that it didn't stink. It was actually quiet pleasant. The source of the smell came into view as he saw the human that Nyx must have said to be her chosen. And yet this chosen was actually blind. He tilted his head as he watched her move with an unnatural grace toward her bonded. Nyx was correct it seemed about this human. D'mitri should have given her the benefit of the doubt really. He watched in silence trying not to intrude this slightly intimate moment between them. It was apparent to him that they certainly were right for each other it seemed.
Strange...how he seemed to want something like that too.

Nyx smiled lightly, and shook out her mane, and waited for her eyes to adjust, while nuzzling her Chosen lightly, affectionately... before biting and tugging on her hair.
"Don't you EVER leave me in a cave asleep again! You know how hard it is for me to find my way around without you taking the blindfold off of me..." Nyx growled, still chomping on her hair. Seru was squirming, and standing on her tiptoes, whimpering a bit, and hugging the mare's neck, patting her soothingly- no, a little too hard to be soothing, actually, more like trying not to hurt the mare, but still make her let go.
"OWOWOW~! Nyx, lemme go, please~!" Seru wailed, wincing and trying to free herself without losing any hair. After a few more seconds, Nyx sighed, and lowered her head, letting go of Seru's hair. The young human immediately started rubbing her scalp, grumbling a bit about Nyx under her breath.
"Seru, stop it... You deserve that for ditching me in my sleep. Anyway... Meet Drax... He's a rather interesting stallion..." Nyx smirked, offering a small smile before turning towards D'metri quietly. "Drax, she can't hear you exactly, but I can relay, if you'd like..." Nyx spoke softly, and Nosed Seru towards him gently.
"May I touch you, Drax? I'm curious as to what has Nyx so interested..." Seru murmured softly, head tilted slightly, and a small smile, a little pained still, since she was still rubbing her head.

The intimate moment soon turned quite violent - and comical - as Nyx extracted revenge upon her chosen. He tilted his head with a snort wondering if this type of thing happened constantly and if it did, how did Seru still have a head full of hair? The draco-azrein backed away a little to avoid the flailing human and her angry azrein mare.
D'mitri was a little baffled at how these two could get along without killing each other. It was definitely something special between them that made them seem all the more unreal as a duo. Nyx's rage soon calmed as she let go a very hurt and startled Seru. The stallion gave a cough looking away as if trying to be distracted and not intrude though his ears kept betraying him by flicking forward.
As he was introduced, D'mitri kept quite still watching the blue-haired human carefully. His tail flicked behind him and wings shuffled for a moment as he tried to calm himself. Truthfully, he had never been this close to a human that didn't want to kill or maim him in some ungodly way. It was different..welcoming, but different. At Nyx's offer, he simply nodded in understanding before keeping his gaze on Seru. She seemed helpless enough...
He came forward giving a bit of a cough. "Fine." His tone was quiet and surprisingly calm. He took in deep breaths slightly raising and stretching his wings as if to form a bit of a curved hood. He lowered his head to the human eyes closing as if not baring to look. He slightly flicked his head before keeping still again as if psyching himself up for this experience of being touched by something alive. D'mitri hadn't really been touched before. This was new to him. The feeling of something warm against his body was...unfathomable. And to think a human no less! At her comment, he coughed. "Mare no interested. Much trust in that." He growled a little baring teeth more out of a habit than anything else before quickly letting his lips fall back into place.
