It was around midday when Deryk was just wandering about outside. Right now he had no duties and the lack of electronics was starting to get to him. It was making him antsy. Oh would he kill right now to have a laptop or something along those lines.
Well, sure there was the hunter technology but he hadn't really been able to get a good look at the things they had outside of the cellphone he received. Back at home he would never be without some sort of tech for too long. If this kept up, he might go a little crazy. Or maybe he'd adapt.
But for now, he just paced around outside, trying to figure out what to do. Maybe he should try doing one of those training courses.. That might help kill some time. Or maybe sign up for some pod duty. Get a better look at the machinery in there. Actually, maybe not for that second bit. Might be kinda creepy having all the comatoses surrounding him.

Ariane needed more victims - uh, interviewees - to talk to. She was sure that a majority of the new recruits had been slotted into the same faction as her, but most of them must be... Social recluses or something.
She wandered around the campus, the clipboard and pen Caelius had given to her tucked away in her room; she wasn't about to let anyone know that she was gathering information on them! That would probably make them uncomfortable and more unwilling to talk, and make her appear like a creep. It would also defeat the purpose of this mission - after all, she was taking Caelius' little 'request' as training.
As if those Halloween creatures would just answer all her questions if she walked up to them as a hunter.
Humming to herself, she spotted a figure up ahead, his uniform rather... Tailored. However, there was no mistaking the double scythe on the back of his jacket - they were from the same faction, and since she had never seen him before? He must be new.
"Hey," She walked right up to him, "Nice coat."

Still pacing around, Deryk didn't stop until he heard an unfamiliar voice address him from behind. Turning around, he saw one of the trainees he had kind of seen around.. but never really actually met. She must be one of the ones that had been awake before his group, seeing how he didn't recall seeing her among them.
"Thanks," he grinned, "Got the hood on myself."
It was a little thing, but he was proud of it. Now he could look badass while having a badass weapon too!
"Oh. By the way. I'm Bond. Deryk Bond," he introduced, rather smugly.

"Oh?" She eyed the hood with a thoughtful expression, stroking her chin, "Are you a fan of video games by any chance?" She was not - okay, maybe a little, but she thought that the hood reminded her of a game she had seen once, being played on the television at a video game store.
She stared at him for a long time before bursting into laughter, her lips splitting into a grin as she put her hands on her hips, "Deryk Bond, huh? Well then, Mr Bond, you may call me Ariane."

"I am. At least when I had the time to play. Even before the Hunters I was busy a lot, but they were still fun to get into when I had the chance. Gonna miss those. Well. Tech in general. Kinda sucks we don't get much tech here don't you think?" he explained before nodding to Ariane, "Pleasure to meet you Ariane! Just out for a midday stroll right now?"
There weren't too many other reasons Deryk could think of why others would be out and about unless they were headed to somewhere specifically or just wandering idly like he was right now.

"The tech here is a little different, but I wouldn't say that there is no tech on the island... You a tech junkie then? Hoepfully you'll get used to not having anything but this around," She grinned, holding up her phone before laughing at his question, "Well, sometimes you don't get much to do, so you have to go find things to do..."
She shrugged, "A stroll is a nice way to put it, I suppose. And you? What're you doing here, pacing about?"

"Yeah, you could say that," Deryk said, looking a little dismayed to hear that he'd pretty much only have the cellphone around. In fact, he groaned a bit at that thought.
"Well.. it's kinda like how you said. Looking for something to do. Might try one of those training courses. Still kinda trying to get a feel for the ropes around here. Not quite fully adjusted yet and all. Big change from former life.." he frowned, "How long did it take you to get used to things?"

"I never did try the training courses yet, although I had been asked to try them out," She replied with a thoughtful look, "Maybe that would be a good way to spend time... Ha! We could do one together one day! Although speaking of which... I'm assuming you got your weapon already?" She grinned at his question, "Not that long - once the missions start coming in, you get used to life here pretty quickly..."
For her anyway.

Ah! That sounded like a pretty good idea actually. It was probably better to do the training courses with a friend anyway, if only for the extra bit of company. Well... it wasn't like he wasn't ever alone now that he had Tooley, but still!
"Sounds like a plan to me. And yes! Hidden Blade. Named Tooley," he nodded before summoning her to show her off. She was so compact it was easy to do such a thing! Even though they did have room around here anyway.
"And oh? Well that's good to hear. Figure it's best to try and keep busy. Might have to look at list of duties for us trainees later as well. See what needs to be done. Don't like sitting around idle for too long. Used to performing multiple tasks at once. Granted... might be harder to do that without a computer but we'll see."

'If by carriage you mean fast and at a mile a minute, then yes, I agree.' She paused, examining his weapon without actually touching it; she had heard bad things about hunters who try to use another's weapon... Like Candace with Caelius' scythe, for example. Nothing good would ever come out of it, so it's better safe than sorry.
"I would show you mine but it feels odd to summon him here," She poked her necklace, rolling the ball between her forefinger and thumb as she grinned, "But I'll show you one day... Who knows? We might be sent on a mission soon and you'll get to see him then then! Although, have you ever tried out Tooley? Do you know her charged attack?"

Deryk stared at the necklace around Ariane's neck. That must be her weapon's desummoned form. He was rather curious what it was, but he'd find out sooner or later. As she said, there could be a mission or something right around the corner!
"I've sparred with her but uh... Charge attack? Not quite sure I follow you there. Received minimal information on these things."

"Oh? Hmm, I guess they didn't do basic training for your batch," Must be due to Aria, since it was the traitor who trained them in the past; ugh, they were all fools... So taken in by her.
"Well, when your weapon soaks up enough fear, they will be charged up," She nodded, pausing as she grinned, "You're a gamer, right? Think of it as your weapon's special attack... You can only use it if you hit your fear-filled target enough times to charge your weapon up. To use it again you would have to repeat the process... Your weapon will tell you when it's ready."
She paused again, this time glancing down at the hidden blade, "Would you like a go? I think sparring might charge her up - this island is rather special."

Taking his new information in, Deryk nodded. It sounded pretty simple enough. Basically Tooley gets charges and then fires her lazers.. or whatever she did for her special attack. Quite frankly, it made her even more awesome to know that she could do something like that. He was pretty eager to find out what her charge attack might be.
And then Ariane offered up a way to do just that.
"Oh! That sounds great! Would like to see what Tooley can do, yes. Let's head to sparring grounds."

"Ohh, you're an eager one, aren't you?" She laughed, pushing her bangs back and out of her eyes, holding her hand on top of her head as she paused there, as if thinking about it. She even hummed before grinning, "Sure, why the heck not? I could use the practice, too... And I want to see what your weapon can do."
'He is.' She had to resist grinning at the mental comment, and instead, started out towards the sparring field, "Come on then, Mr Bond."

"You could say that. Didn't really fight much where I came from. Usually if violence happens.. it was either in game or me being shoved into a locker in highschool," Deryk frowned. He had graduated years back, but the memory of being pushed around hadn't left him. It was not a fun experience in the slightest.
"Extra practice is good anyway. Ah! Hold on."
He crouched down to fix his boot laces which had somehow gotten loose.
"Alright. Let's go!"
