Within the woods was a clearing of trees; it was small but enough where the sunlight bathed the grass in it's warmth. It was here that Cassiel decided to take a nap in the sun. Why not? The weather itself was beautiful. It was warm and carried a gentle breeze, plus the sunlight was like a blanket of awesomeness!
The exorcisma laid there upon his back, arms spread to his sides as if he could make a snow angel in the lawn. But as he lay there, he heard whispers in the wind of something approaching. Of course... Just when he was fully relaxing, his nap would be interrupted. Perhaps it was a bad idea to wander this close to civilization.
His eyes opened briefly as he tried to wake himself, but closed in protest to the light. Raising an arm to shield his eyes, he succeeded in opening them, staring blankly at the silhouette of his hand. While his eyes adjusted, his other hand moved to cover a large yawn. It was so hard to wake yourself from a good nap!
Sitting himself up right, both hands ran through his hair, shaking out the bits of grass that tangled with his silky locks. Now wasn't the time to be sleeping anymore, specially with the whispers of something coming his way. "Hnn... I wonder how long I was asleep..." He muttered to himself, not really expecting any sort of answer.

It was a rare spring feeling day in the chilling fall. Lately the sky had been dark, and the wind cold and harsh. The signs that winter was right around the corner. Cedar took the rare occasion to go for a stroll in the forest, because she had moved off the farm Cedar wasn't able to be around the forest on a daily basis. As the witch walked slowly along the trees, she softly conversed with the plant life. She was getting to know the area, and telling them about her home, the other side of the forest. And even here, she felt at home, it didn't take long for the plant life to recognize her. She listened to their stories, and did some 'gardening' where it was needed along the way. As the wind twirled around her ankles, and then her arms, she was told about a small clearing ahead. So Cedar made her way over there. Her steps were quiet, and as she drew closer, she had already known that someone else was there. As she broke into the clearing, she could tell that the male had just woken up.

Blinking at the sky line, Cassiel allowed his eyes to focus before he turned to look directly at the girl. No matter how quiet she walked, he would have known her location. (Only because the ghost of a child was pointing in her direction. Good thing he could see that.)
Smiling, he stood up and started to brush more grass off his person. "Hello." He said lightly, knowing it was loud enough for the girl to hear him. They weren't too far apart, but there was a bit of a distance. "I'm sure I didn't disturb you. Unless I was snoring.."He gasped at that realization. Was he snoring? How embarrassing.
"I wasn't... was I?"

She blinked at him, and then raised a brow. "No, you weren't. I was just coming to see the area." She placed a hand on her hip. "But I'm disturbing your nap, I can come back another time." She offered. It wasn't often that she ran into strangers sleeping in the forest... But as she looked closer he had... Strange looking ears. She had heard that two other races had surfaced, could he be one of them?
She walked over to him and bent forward examining him closely. She poked at one of his ears. "Excor...Excorcima...?" She mused aloud.

"I shouldn't have fallen asleep anyway. So it's a pleasant surprise." He stated calmly. He didn't seem at all on edge, and simply studied her as she got closer. A female, quite obvious, and a witch at that. He could sense some closer connection to nature, perhaps even stronger than his. That brought a smile to his face.
But as she reached for his hear, his head snapped sharply away from her touch. "Please, don't touch. They're sensitive..." He explained, a hand raising to guard his precious ears from any touches. "And their no different than yours, minus the length..." Though he was seeing a running theme from everyone he met. Perhaps he should hide his ears in the future. It's a thought to look into at least.
"My name is Cassiel. Cassiel Pierce. And yes, you guessed right. I'm an exorcisma." He stated, smiling to the girl as he cocked his head to the side curiously. "What is your name?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I should have asked." She pulled her hand back. "I got a bit excited." She laughed lightly and nervously. How could she have forgotten her manners like that. She bent down, tucking her dress under her legs.
He was an eye full, not in a bad way. Everything about it was different looking. "I'm Cedar." She smiled. "My friends were so intent on me seeing this area." She glanced around. "They can be rather pushy." But now she was never more glad that she had gone. She didn't get to learn about the Exorcisma when she was at school. But now she was meeting one. So much better then learning about them.
"So you um... Live around here?" She asked. "I hope I'm not being rude. I was out of the Academy before your race was discovered."

He listened to the girl, watching her curiously. He simply smiled at her while she spoke and gave a nod of understanding. But when she told him her name, he blinked in surprise. "Cedar? Like ... wood?" He asked innocently, and then blushed a bit in embarrassment. "Sorry, it's just ... well, a unique name." That and it made him think of the cedar chest back home with the good linen stored inside.
"When my race was discovered?" He laughed at that, shaking his head slightly. "The way you said it makes it sound like we're some endangered species. But, shh..." He leaned in to whisper to her, as if someone around them could hear. "I don't want to be caged in a zoo. I'm a wild animal afterall."
Laughing again, he took a step back to fully stretch and pop his back. "To answer your question, yes. I do live around here. My family has been here for decades."

Cedar never felt embarrassed about her name before. "In a less classy manner, yes. A type of wood. My father was Ash, and my mother was Maple." She said stubbornly, but when he learned in close she couldn't help but blush... Her entire face had heated up... Much like how she got with Lea when he was close...
When he started to laugh she cleared her throat. "I didn't mean it like that... It's how they termed it. Mass culture finding something 'new'. Even though your people have probably been here just as long if not longer then we humans." Cedar rubbed her arm trying to settle her rapidly beating heart.
"Really? I've been around the forests a lot in my life, and I've never found evidence of anyone being around." Not that she thought about it, all those times she was in the forest they could have been watching her, she gave a little shiver.

Cassiel smiled at the girl, as she seemed to get a bit flustered. Not only did her face flush but she seemed to struggle for words. It was kinda cute really. Sure, he knew his 'race' was 'new' but to hear it still made him laugh. "I suppose we are kinda 'new' as you say. But it's still funny to think it. We've been around just as long as anyone else, although we tend to stay to ourselves a lot more. It's in our natures really. And, just because we don't show ourselves doesn't mean we're not there. My shrine for example is sealed from sight when I'm not there. Plus, I've lived in this forest my whole life and there are still corners of it I have yet to discover."
Watching the girl a moment, Cassiel tore his eyes away to look skyward. "Mmm, it's a little past noon isn't it? I haven't eaten yet." And the loud growl from his stomach confirmed that statement. "Would you like to join me back at my shrine? I don't mind the company even if I keep to myself in these woods."

She narrowed her eyes at him, she was simply teasing of course. "Ooh, so that's how it is huh? I think it's cheating to hide things." She then smiled making it obvious that she was teasing him. Cedar rarely spoke cross or invoked conflict on her own.
Her eyes moved to his stomach and she nodded lightly. She was rather more interested in seeing his shrine then the food through. "Going to.. an invisible shrine with a male stranger?" She glanced to him from the side, again only teasing him. "I'm not to sure if that's really a good idea..." Her voice lowered.
After getting his reaction, she gave another smile. "I'm kidding, I'd love too. So long as it's really okay. I've never seen a shrine before."

He smiled at the girl, enjoying her sass. It was refreshing! "I wouldn't have invited you if it wasn't ok. I live alone now, my parents left me in charge of the shrine to follow their dream. I'm at times envious of them, being able to explore the world without a care in the world... I'm sure I'll have my turn eventually when my own children take over the shrine." He muttered, turning to lead the way to his home. Thankfully it wasn't going to be a long walk back, he never made it far before he sat down and fell asleep in the sun.
"I hope you don't mind walking..." He started, heading for the tree line. "It's maybe five to ten minutes from here." But as he explained, he smirked a bit. He could be playful at times too! And just to see what the girl would do, he whispered under his breath. The spell he cast upon himself allowed him to walk right through a large tree! He simply took the few strides needed to go through it before glancing back and smiling at the girl. She wouldn't be dumb enough to walk into the tree... right? "Come one, I'm hungry... For once I don't want to dawdle in the woods."

Cedar listened to him, looking around and when she looked back, she saw him walk through the tree. She raised her brows in curiosity, could all Excorsima do that? She knew she couldn't do it, and had forgotten what she was going to ask him about his parents walking around the tree with easy.
"You know, I wouldn't like if it you ran off into the trees and left me out there stranded." She gave him a flat look, and then rolled her eyes. "Well unlike you, I can't wait through trees, so it'll take me a little longer to get there. Soooorry." She stuck her chin in the air in a defiant manner. She was still only teasing. But she wondered if she could learn that ability.
"Can all your kind do that?" She didn't know it was a spell. These days spells and inhabitant magic were hard to differentiate.

He stopped several strides away from the tree and grinned, looking back at Cedar. His eyes seemed to sparkle with his amusement at her distress, and he chuckled softly. "It was a simple spell, Cedar. Not everyone can walk through obstacles." He explained, again gesturing for her to follow him.
"It's a spell I developed when I tried to get closer to the spirits that haunt the woods. I actually discovered it by chance, but I use it to my advantage when I need to. Don't worry, I'll knock it off for now." He smiled more, turning to walk around a tree this time. He took shorter strides as well, casually walking through the tall grass and trees.
"I hope you like tea. It's all I really have to drink at the shrine, minus water. And I can recall some snacks saved in the pantry." The man seemed to think of what he had, wanting to make sure he had the best for a guest. He tried to be a good host any time he had someone visit his home.✖

Cedar frowned as she thought of what he said, it wasn't that he was a bad thing. But it wasn't something she understood. However she perked right back up and giggled when he made a point of walking around the tree. "Well I can see that being useful." She thought of what she could do if she could walk through trees.
"Tea! Oh I do adore it. Do you have any home made blends?" She grinned at him as she stepped quickly to catch up to him. As they walked through the field the voices filled her ears. She shook her head trying to drown then out so she could focus on him. And then it looked like they might be coming up on their destination.
"Snaaaacks." She smiled at him again. "Though you make it sound as if they could be stale." She said flatly.
