Now that his wounds were mostly healed Bix was trying to get back out and forget the mission which caused it. He'd thrown himself into training and reading as he would if he were taking a really intense college course. It was his nature to be academic and strive to do the best but he knew better than to drown himself in it. He'd gone through too many years of school.. he knew how to balance.
But there was always a need for a break and everyday he usually had several hours of nothing but relaxing or wandering and today brought him to the cafeteria for a snack. He really wanted some pudding but there was an irresistable smell in the air. Freshly baked cookies.
"I want a cookie.." He muttered it while he was in the middle of spooning pudding into the bowl. Unfortunately he hadn't heard the rumors about cookies here. If he had they sounded too ridiculous to believe. Perhaps if anyone else had been around they may have stopped him, but he drifted towards the tray, grabbed several and had a seat.

If Bix hadn't heard of any rumors about cafeteria cookies, then it wasn't surprising to find Minerva lingering near the opened door, eyes shut as she took in a deep breath. Mmm~ Gurrrgle
Ever since the death trainee had 'awoken', her nose was either in a book or out on the training grounds; as per Blythe's request. There was a lot to take in still, particularly after being sent on that first mission without warning; she needed to be more prepared for randomness, here. She needed to get the insight before it jumped up in front of her.
Minerva needed to be in control.
Yet the woman couldn't last much longer without eating SOMETHING hardy, a sense of insatiable hunger rising within. Minerva instinctively took several steps into the cafeteria with one hand clutching her stomach, the other pushing strands of her hair behind an ear; the gurgle in her gut low and insistent. That all too familiar smell of freshly baked goods clung to her senses and teased her sights as brightly colored eyes looked beyond the heads dotting several tables and zeroed in on the sweets. Usually she would have attempted to eat a portion of healthy foods with the cookies, out of guilt mostly...
But in her mind there came a resolute <******** that, and on the plate she now carried there were several of the morsels stacked high--unable to resist the urge, and biting into one of them as she turned on her heels.
Now with a sense of clarity, Minnie spotted a familiar face amongst several strangers and pursed her lips in thought. The rest of the cookie was gobbled down quickly, a second in her hand before the woman decided to approach--he had been their guide from one room to the next and seemed welcoming enough of random conversation during their brief Q&A...
Now seemed like a great time to get friendly with the older trainees in the facility...yeah...now seemed like a GREAT time to get friendly with Bix.
An oddly large smile filled Minerva's face, lifting her already high cheek bones higher while pinching her eyes ever so slightly. She was feeling...happy. Really, unusually, uncontrollably happy and it showed in her approach. Coming on to the table rather quickly, the death trainee waved a pinky at the man while yet another one of those delicious goods went down her throat. "Hey you!" She chirped, gesturing to herself. "Remember me? Minerva?" Setting the plate down on his table, she reached for the chair across from him before pausing.
"Mind if I take a seat?"

Bix hadn't eaten his cookie yet but having a cute girl call to you, happily, from across the room was always nice. He was sort of enjoying the smell of them right now.
"Oh hey!" Bix nodded. "Go for it... You got the cookies too? They smell awesome." Just smelling home made cookies made you think of home but the usually sullen feelings were replaced by happy ones for once. Good memories.
"Minerva? Cool name. Like McGonagall from Harry Potter. She was a badass old broad." He hoped she didn't hate him for being a nerd right now. He took a bite of the cookie. OH GOD. SO GOOD. A happy tingle rippled down his throat. It was telling him 'EAT MORE'.

"They taste even better!" Minnie replied emphatically, sliding into the seat with one palm propping up her cheek and three fingers lifting a cookie to eye level. She watched his demeanor change ever so slightly as the first taste of chocolate-y goodness crumbled into his mouth..."They're addicting, aren't they?!" Pink-tinged cheeks were still hiked in a sweet-induced grin, taking another bite herself and indulging in every minute of it. She had never endured a stronger sugar high than this...
Mmm it tasted so goooood.
She hummed her delight before mauling over the comment.
"McGonagall?..." A finger tapped against her chin idly, eyes narrowing in thought. At one point or another the woman had seen the movie with her cousins, recalling Harry's 'scar' and the talk of snakes...She was twenty after all, Harry Potter was definitely a part of her era...she should know this...So what if the books had never truly appealed to her interests; she still felt she should know. Minerva took a moment in between blissful bites to sift through the memories quickly, sinking her teeth into her bottom lip as the answer danced at the tip of her tongue. "...OH!! The lady who could turn into a cat, right?" Yeah, she was almost sure that was the right one!
...or maybe it was the ghost in the bathrooms who liked Harry? No wait, she wasn't a teacher at the school...Hmm...
In any case she waved a hand in front of her and continued. "Thanks! I've always thought Minerva was a little weird in comparison to some...but I guess some of the coolest people have the strangest names!" She paused to give the man a fleeting glance, fluttering her lashes momentarily. "I like your name too! Bix! Bix. Biiix." She said it in three different accents (although two of them sounded southern, the third a slightly better try at Italian) before giggling rather sweetly.
"Oh wait, you're name isn't Bix! That's a nickname right? Fer...Ferrr...?!" She suddenly looked a little frustrated, trying very hard to remember without help. Caelius had made mention of it in the classroom, much to Bix's disapproval if Minnie's memory served her correctly!...What was it again?

"Ferdinand." The normal derision and privacy in which he kept his own name seemed to only melt into indifference with these delicious cookies in front of him. Like a man, he'd devoured a whole one already. Just a few bites and it was gone. "Always hated it actually." His mouth was a little full.
"Wanna know a secret? Kinda?" He leaned across the table and snorted. "My mom used to call me Ferdi. How terrible is that?" He laughed, cheeks turning rosey as he took a second bite.
"Now you tell me a secret!" He chuckled his demand softly across the table. He was feeling pretty open all of a sudden. Was it the cute girl? It didn't even dawn on him that it would be the food. Perhaps he and this girl were just meant to be best friends.
I'm not sure Bixy.. Mina chuckled as if she knew something he didn't but she seemed to also be in a good mood.

"Dangit! I was going to get it eventually!" Mock-pouting, Minerva brought both hands to her cheeks and huffed. "Ferdinand..." She kind of liked it actually, particularly when the 'r' was emphasized by the roll of the tongue. It was nice!...
But oh...oh! How she liked this secret nickname even more! Another cookie had been pressed to her lips just before Minnie squealed! "Ferdi?!" Leaning in just as he did with a wrinkle of her nose and a smile, she continued in a whisper. "No! No that's not terrible at all! I think it's cute actually!" Bits of chocolate remained on the tips of her fingers with every bite, stared at for a moment before shoving them into her mouth quickly.
Must savor...all things cookie.
"It's my turn?" She murmured, shifting in her seat to sit straight up. "Okay, but don't laugh..."
Blythe suddenly interjected, stopping the death trainee from speaking for a moment.
What? It's all in good fun!
Minerva was too happy to be brought down! She also got the feeling that she might not be thinking clearly, but shrugged her shoulders and sat forward once again across the table.
"Okay, seriously don't tell ANYONE!" Minerva tried to look serious, narrowing her hazel eyes while furrowing her brows...but a smile couldn't hide her euphoria. "...I've never kissed anyone before!"
There was a groan in the back of her head, muffled by the bout of laughter which resounded from the woman. Blythe would have face-palmed if she had the ability to. "Yup! Twenty years old and still kiss-less! I've only ever told my mother that, so you're the second one to know! Well...besides Blythe. And...myself." She was feeling kind of jittery now, shuffling with her hands on her lap. But she was still quite easily excitable, and with all the cookies still left on her plate--there was plenty to be excited about.
"I like you, Ferdi." She thrummed low soon after, taking her cheek in one hand yet again, slumping slightly within her seat. Even in her relaxed state she couldn't stop the chuckles from shaking her chest and the flush of red which filled her face with color.

"Reaaally?" Bix turned a little red with her very straightforward statement, he did laugh but then clapped his hand over his mouth and stifled it. "Wow.. well umm there's a lot of guys around who'd be happy to kiss you, I'm sure." Even hopped up on cookies he never thought of himself as a 'leading man' type. He would hit on girls, yes, but he never really thought anything would be reciprocated and he always expected to be turned down.
He popped another cookie bite into his mouth feeling something similar to hope all of a sudden. What was he hoping for exactly? He wasn't quite sure but it made him shift in his seat, as if he were expecting something to happen at any moment.
"Awwww.." He laughed a little. "Don't call me Ferdi. Pleeeease?" He played with his braid. In his head his weapon was emanating a giddiness of her own, perhaps because she was tied to him completely, but it also may have just been unadulterated amusement. "Thank tho.. You are cool too. And pretty so don't worry about that kiss thing. Just stay away from Dr. H. HE'S A WEIRD PERV." It was said in a loud whisper.

She would have huffed in protest if Bix hadn't turned that bright shade of pink, his giggle and the request to not to use the secret nickname vanishing from thought; his reaction, instead, stirring a purr out of the woman. "You think so?" Minerva's voice lifted curiously, eyes rolling to the ceiling to ponder upon all of her possibilities...which, even if at the moment seemed limited, still brought a smile to her lips.
"But you know..." The death trainee started again, perking up ever so slightly. Something had just come to mind. "I don't want just any old first kiss! It has to be special and perfect...and with the RIGHT guy. No...with the right MAN!" She said this about as loudly as he had mentioned Dr. H, another cookie finding its way into her mouth.
Blythe echoed, a certain lack of strength held behind her tone. She was giving up on the whole situation, unable to resist the hold those sweets had on her Minnie...as well as herself. It would have thrown Minerva off if it were at any other time, on any other day, without cookies...but instead of replying, the trainee shrugged her shoulders and hummed a sigh.
He's so...dreamy. Or was it just the cookies making him look that way...Blythe didn't bother to question.
It took the woman a moment to try and gain some control over herself, attempting to look serious in between the hiccuping laughter and a cracking smile. But once she did, a hand reached out to the center of the table and she spoke softly for only Bix to hear. "You seem like a good man." Nodding in confirmation, blushing uncontrollably, Minerva drummed her fingers against the table lightly.
...while shifting about in her seat...and chewing on her bottom lip. It sort of looked like Minerva was expecting something as well.
But as quickly the statement had come, her interests shifted and the sugar lured her to another topic of conversation. "Dr. H is a pervert? Isn't he a teacher here? Isn't that illegal?! I mean...I guess if this is like a college then he can do whatever he wants...I guess? I don't know what I'm saying."
That meant it was time for another cookie.~

Bix had the distinct feeling he was being hit on. Kind of. Was it the cookies? He was feeling giddy as he woofed another full cookie down. His stack was dwindling but he had enough of an edge of common sense to decide not to get more cookies. In his head his giggling weapon was agreeing with him that something was wrong with this picture.
Unfortunately acknowledging it didn't mean he'd do anything about it and it also didn't mean he was in a state of mind enough to care.
"Well I am glad you have some standards." He nodded heartily when she spoke of only kissing a good man. But then she called him a good man. Bix looked like a deer in the headlights. She was looking expectant. Was he expected to do something? Was this what he felt he was looking for? "Th... thanks." His face was bright red.
He coughed when she switched subjects, realizing he'd been leaning forward a bit. Was it hot in here? He pondered it over a bite of the remaining cookie he held. He felt like it was hot all of a sudden.
"Well I don't know if teacher is the right term and I guess rules don't really apply the same." Bix scratched his head, took a deep breath as if he was trying to clear whatever this was out of his system. It didn't work. "Plus I mean.. I only heard girls mentioning he's creepazoid. I don't know that he's done anything. HEY." He switched topics quickly. "Is it hot in here? Wanna go for a walk with me? I mean.. go for a walk? It doesn't have to be with me.. I mean.. wanna get out of here?"
Apparently even cookies couldn't fix his weirdness with girls.

"Leave?!" Minnie exclaimed, a brow lifting behind her bangs. "But...We're having so much fun right here!" And there were cookies in the cafeteria. Great, fantastic, wonderful, addicting cookies! Yeah, leaving with Bix did sound about as nice as sticking around with him, so long as they were...you know...together. But the cookies...
The cookies...
Blythe's comment had a double meaning for sure, one that Minerva simply overlooked as her hazel gaze went from plate to the hunter and back to plate again. Blythe wasn't nearly as possessive now as she usually would be, thus the trainee didn't plan on pushing an issue.
It hadn't occurred to her until he made mention of it, but things were starting to get a little stuffy; slipping a finger in between her scarf and neck to loosen its hold reactively. She figured it was their explosive chemistry making her all hot and endearing, but a quip in the back of her mind instilled doubt in this theory. In any case, a walk sounded kind of nice. It was probably a hell of a lot cooler outside than under the bright lights illuminating the room.
A look of uncertainty rested heavily on Minerva's features before her shoulders dropped and she sighed. "Yeah, okay." A pause, taking a single cookie 'for the road' in between her fingers, gesturing with a nod toward his batch to do the same. "I'd love to go for a walk with you!"
Munch, munch...giggle!

Theres something in the way the girl said it' take a walk with you' that sent his stomach a flutter all of a sudden. Did he like this girl? Wasn't it a little fast? WHO CARES! Bix pocketed the last cookie in his possession and hopped up with a grin. He motioned with his arm for the door, "After you!" Once in the hall his head was on a swivel as he tried to decide where to go. Where was a good place to take a walk? Where was breezy and cool and a girl would like? Mina giggled. The beach."THE BEACH!" He blurted it out loud and then laughed. She probably didn't know where to go so he impulsively grabbed her hand in his and began to lead her. They wound through the halls, out a push door with a red EXIT above it and onto the grounds. It was hazy and cool but not quite cool enough. "Have you been to the beach?" The feeling of expectation hadn't gone away. Maybe something amazing would happen on the beach!

A twisting stomach and a pounding heart made the woman's entirety shake. She could feel the heat of the room amplify as Bix swiped his final cookie and leapt from the seat; prompting Minerva to do the same quite eagerly. A fixed gaze watched as the hunter motioned toward the door, offering him a playful curtsy in return...nearly dropping the snack still pinched between two of her fingers. "Oh..! Why thank you!"
This...This was kind of exciting! It was also nerve-wracking and definitely not something the trainee would usually do without some...help...But so very exhilarating all the same! She wasn't used to feeling so carefree.
Meanwhile, Blythe raged .
What? To be fair, Minerva was high off life and cookies and...maybe a little bit of Bix's charm? In any case, she was too far gone to actually pay Blythe's ranting any mind...Especially not when his warm hand gripped hers. She was practically pink all over, hotter than ever before as her free hand, holding the cookie, swept several strands of her hair away from her neck...Had he said the beach? She couldn't even think straight long enough to notice...Would he find her sweaty palms and quaking frame a turn off? Was he even turned on?
Did she want him turned on?
Too many questions began to form with not nearly enough answers to ease the frenzy. So, she simply said "No...", tightening her hold of the cookie to compensate for the lack of strength she had to fully curl each finger around Bix's. It took her practically the entire walk to their destination to finally speak up again, looking out at the stretch of land which again brought back a lot of pleasant memories. "I saw it the day I found Blythe, my weapon...Her name is Blythe by the way! She's really talkative tonight!"
Suddenly the innocence of the whole situation seemed to be lost between the two hunters, Minerva's sideways glance not without a peculiar thought to go along with it. Blythe was not pleased. "I've wanted to come down here ever since then but I just...haven't had the time!"
There was an urgency behind the tone that should have worried Minnie, but instead of reacting to it, she simply brought herself slightly closer to Bix's side; the sweet smell of baked goods still lingering on their clothes and in their possessions, even as sea breeze started to waft their way.
"I love the smell of the ocean! I can't get enough of the sand sliding in between your toes and the smell of fish that most can't seem to stand...It's so nostalgic!" She paused, placing the cookie in her mouth while reaching out to grab at Bix's shoulder impulsively; stabilizing herself long enough to take each shoe off. After they were tucked under one arm she made another thoughtless move, sliding her hand back into his and squeezing it.
It didn't seem like she even noticed she had done it. "This beach is the closest I'll ever get to home I think!" Taking a quick bite of her snack, the woman continued. "It's such a great place to take a stroll, too!" A smile flashed his way followed by a giggle.

It had to be the cookies because Bix would never deliberately tune any girl out, ever. For the moment he couldn't help it. They heared the beach and the sound of waves rolled over him. He could smell the sea, hear the screeching of gulls and then the vastness of the ocean rolled out in front of him.
He was afraid of the ocean. Sort of. At least he had been until right now. He was gaping at it a bit, amazed by it, and just stood there as Minerva unhooked from his hand, removed her shoes, and returned to latching to him. He barely even noticed as she spoke of nostalgia. The sea held no nostalgia for him because the first time he'd actually been near the ocean was when he arrived on this island.
Not a fan. Mina hissed in disgust though she was still enjoying his flustery mood with this girl.
"Wanna hear another secret?" He finally joined reality again though the ocean appeared to have a mystical dreamy haze. Part of it was the mist of the island, swirling lightly around in the distance but the rest of it had to be whatever was affecting their mood and making everything seem just slightly better. "I never swam in the ocean before. Never saw it in real life until I came here. Always thought it was kinda scary."
His cheeks turned pink and he laughed, squeezing her hand.

Another secret?! YES PLEASE! Minnie's eyes may have been watching her own feet in the sand, but her focus was on Bix alone; his voice so a welcomed distraction from the memories of old...
The island was working in mysterious ways this particular day--at least that is exactly how it seemed for the woman who strolled with a cookie in hand, anxiously manuvering it through each of her fingers with careful percision. A beautiful beach barren of all life except for their own opened up to a swirling mass of mist and sea water splashing skyward off the shoreline...Two strangers strolling with their hands interlocked, the lack of relation between them not at all obvious for any who might happen upon them. It was strange how her fingers tingled and her knees buckled every step or two...
But there was an awkwardness about the whole ordeal just as well, one that prompted Minerva to slip a piece of her sweet into her mouth. Mmm~ That seemed to make things better.
"Whaaat!?" She retorted far too quickly, a shocked look unable to keep a slight smile from curling her lips. Really though, Minerva was surprised. So much so that she tugged at his hand gently in an attempt to coax them closer to the waters reach. It only then occured to her that she hadn't asked about his home or his old life...Probably because the topic was a little sensitive for a lot of the trainee's on the island, but the cookie's high; it made her do things she normally wouldn't.
The trainee gave this a thought, but proceeded nonetheless.
"Where are you from Bix? I haven't even asked you that and here we are holding hands on a beach!" Way to be awkward. Blythe, however quiet, was still raging somewhere in her thoughts...it didn't stop the woman from continuing, the thrill of it all getting to her with every bite she savored of the cafeteria cookies. "And you shouldn't be afraid of anything, life is too short for that! Come on, let's get a bit closer to it okay?"
Spotting the pink in his cheeks made her own grow hot once again. Or maybe they had never cooled at all...Whatever.

"Midwest." She walked towards the ocean but Bix stayed still. He started to feel slightly sane again, but he quelled that by biting the cookie in his hand, finally just chomping the whole thing down until he felt that familiar fuzzy warmth again. Unfortunately he was now out of cookies. "Landlocked. No ocean there. I've been to the beach but you can see the other side of a lake." He laughed. "You can't tell me that I am crazy when I say that the ocean is huge.. so huge.. like we haven't even discovered most of it and we live on this planet." Too many Discovery Channel specials? Minerva's insistent tug led him closer to the water but he hadn't taken off his shoes yet so he paused to do that, leaving the brown boots in a small tuft of dune grass. Please don't go in. Why couldn't there be a rainforessst on this island?Bix for once simply ignored Mina and this seemed to upset her even more. She hissed in his mind, the amusement of all of it gone. "You from a beachy area?" He'd told her about himself. What about her?
