While Marcus had done the training courses, he had not yet done any of the duty that were around the ‘campus’ of Deus ex Machina. He had not gone to take care of the minipets, (or been dared to go ‘pet Clarice’s minipets’. While he got the joke, the woman was Dr. H’s assistant. You didn’t get to stay his assistant without being able to put up with a ton of bullshit and take s**t from others.). Marcus had yet to go watch s**t in the forest, (apparently it had monsters and s**t. He’d had enough of that for a while thank you.). Apparently there was an underwater observation outpost but that just sounded like a bad idea, (not that he was claustrophobic, it just sounded like a fast way to nightmares). The town needed to be rebuilt, (he could do that when he was really bored. ) There were underground labs but those needed golems. That alone said enough.
No, if he was going to play lookout, it would be the lighthouse. Let him see all across the island while pretty much doing nothing. The doing nothing part sounded boring. So, to combat this, he’d invited a new moon hunter. Ryan. One of the few who hadn’t been looking for a fight when they’d all be out in the hall.
Once inside the lighthouse via portal, Marcus whistled as he took in the view. “They weren’t kidding when they said you can see pretty much the whole island. Granted, it’s covered in fog but still. Pretty cool.”

"What's pretty cool?" He asked, passing through the portal and into the room. Thankfully this time he hadn't gotten lost, but perhaps that had to do with something about the lighthouse being really tall and hard to miss...?
Though now that he was here, he regretted not bringing a jacket or--something with long sleeves. The air was a lot colder up here and it wasn't a particularly nice to day to begin with, but the view more than made up for it.
"Wow, so this is what the island looks like from higher view point."
Like he had thought, it was massive.

Fog might have covered the land, but spots like a few roofs, the jungle, and just irregular land masses could be made out. The wind was slow today, a light hum in the air versus howling. The howling would have made him paranoid. “Yeah, I thought it would just be like- white clouds. Good to know we can still make stuff out in the distance.”
The actual light of the lighthouse was on, circling in rhythmic fashion, a click echoing with each cycle. “We’re just here for an hour or so, shouldn’t be too bad.” Leaning against the railing, he looked out at the sea. “So, since we’re stuck here, how about we kill some time with a QnA? Staring at clouds in silence-“ his hand waved in the air as Dis asked if this was some primitive for of hitting on Ryan. Marcus assured him it wasn’t. “-Not the most exciting thing.”

"Heh, I think we would have to be a lot higher up to see nothing but clouds." He answered, but man! What a view! "I'm guessing this is your first time on this post too then?" He asked, before moving over to browse the bookshelf for any interesting books he could take a peek at.
"QnA?" He asked, as he tugged a book free. Cracking it open, he found that the pages were mostly blank---or rather so old that the words were all but gone and any words still there were barely readable.
Well darn.
"Okay... then I guess you start, since you're the one to bring up this game and all." He answered, shoving the book back into place and turning back around to give the fellow moon trainee his full attention.

Anything to kill time in this boring lighthouse of nothing. "I'll start us off? Work with me." He had a few questions in mind. Nothing that unusual he figured. "How did you get to be a hunter, er, what were you before?" He kept his gaze outside the windows. ******** mist was boring.
"I had just gotten out of High school and this sounded like a good thing to do. Had no plans so why the ******** not. Don't really regret it." Sure, he missed the outside world, but, they had enough here. Besides, they were saving the world or some superhero s**t like that.

"Oh yeah? Well if you gotta' be somewhere, might as well be somewhere that could use your unique set of skills I guess." He shrugged, looking thoughtful.
"Hmm... For me?" He paused. "I was a student, but I guess I got tired of seeing people around me suffer and doing nothing about it. Nothing exciting..." To be honest, he wasn't sure if he missed the outside world or not.
"My turn then?"
What to ask... what to ask...
"What's your weapon type and it's name?" Another pause. "Ah right. Mine is... Gauntlet's--or something, named Locke."

Marcus nodded as Ryan spoke, he could understand that want, that need to help and protect others. Maybe it was what helped qualify them as moon hunters. The other trainees question got him a bit off guard. “Oh? Dis? Well, his full name Desirado. He just goes by Dis which.. Is a lot better for casual head conversations. He’s a schimar. A curved blade. Also, a class a pervert.” Marcus rolled his eyes. “He likes to try and distract me with random s**t. But gauntlets? That’s pretty cool.” Don’t start looking at other weapons Marcus. Why would I? You’re already a pain in the a** enough, plus with my luck I’d get a worse mental house guest. Awww, so sweet. “Now my question-“ He leaned back eyes narrowing when he thought he saw something glide though the mist. Probably a seagull or something. “If you could punch Caelius or Dr. H, which would you punch?” It was a dumb, yet amusing question. “Personally, I’d go for Caelius.”

Ryan snorted when Marcus answered him.
"Really? Mine is a bit chatty and likes to mock me---but I never expected them to have a personality like... well yours." He still found it strange that the weapons even had personalities. Was it some sort of program they had equipped to the weapons?
He paused at the next question, oblivious to the 'seagull.'
"Err... Is that with or without getting killed afterwards?" He asked. "If its without getting killed... hmm... Well... Dr. H did shoot that one girl in the head--even if it was a golem that was pretty, uh... nasty and Caelius is... uhh..." Ah hell! They were both jerks! "Why not hit both of them?"

Nodding Marcus kept his gaze outside. "Yeah, if the told me I would get a mental house guest like this guy..." Dis chuckled in his head. "He helps on a rare occasion or two, and as far as personalities goes, he's no worse than an annoyance." The sword took a bit of offense to that, but Marcus didn't care. "And yeah, good point. Both would probably deserv-" That sudden dash of black was far to big to be a seagull. "Did you see that?" He pointed out into the mists, and right when it seemed like nothing was there- A large black shadow rose into the air. "s**t."

Ryan nodded in agreement. From what he could tell about weapons so far, they could all serve to be a thorn in their side, with maybe a touch of kindness from time to time. Maybe. He was thankful to have Locke though. He proved to be welcome company.
"Huh?" Ryan blinked when Marcus pointed out into the mist. He hadn't seen anything... Even after scanning the skies he couldn't spot anything. Maybe his eyes were just playing tricks on hi----nooope there it was. Definitely too large to be a seagull and much too dark.
"Is that one of those shadow creatures?" He asked, fixing his gaze on the dark spot and summoning Locke. A few seconds later he'd realize how badly both Marcus and himself were equipped for this fight. A flying creature versus close range weapons, in a lighthouse.
Oh s**t...

"Looks like-" As the words left his mouth, Marcus realized the shadow being had come near and "********-" An unlocked window and the monster was inside in seconds. "******** ******** ********-" Ripping Dis off his ear, Marcus summoned the blade as it flashed blue. "Ryan, shut the window before anything else that might have been following arrives!" Marcus went to stand near the portal, in case the needed to activate it.

"Oh nice! Looks like we don't have to cook our brains trying to figure out how to attack this thing! What a kind little shadowling!" He grinned, as he quickly latched the window shut.
"Window is locked!" He called back to Marcus, turning his attention returned to the beast that was now captive within the room.
He had seen creatures like this before, but never before had one been so close... They were strange beings and before he hadn't thought much about them. They caused people problems, sure, but it wasn't until he saw what the giant undead beast in the Sahara did, that he felt sick whenever he saw one.
:You'll be fine. Just don't panic, keep a clear head--and don't turn your back on it!:
Ryan gave Locke a mental nod and lunged at the creature, striking it across the face as he tore at flesh.

Stab it Marcus, stab it long and deep. No you.
Dis was excited at the idea of a shadowling to fight. After all, it had been awhile since he'd gotten a good charge from something. "Good job Ryan." The portal it his back, the thing was still a shadowling, and would probably go down with the both of them. "Nice hit too!"
Going for one of the thing's wings, Marcus smirked at he felt the blade connect, Dis purring with the taste of FEAR.

The monster screeched as the two trainees landed blows, and made a swipe for Ryan, hissing it's anger.

"Thanks!" He called back. "How often do these things show up?" He asked, blinking when Marcus struck the shadowling with his sword. "Nice!"
The creature screeched in rage, drawing Ryan's attention back to it. Whatever it was, it wasn't going down without a fight, and like he had thought, this thing had nasty little weapons of it's own. Thankfully, it's attack was shallow and though he wasted his chance to strike back; choosing to defend, the beast was only able to leave a scratch.
