The Library wasn't a very safe place to hold a gathering, especially one involving food. Alwine had learned this the hard way when she tried to hold a starting party for Halloween Horror Writing Month. On the first night of the 11th October, Alwine wrote approximately 238 words. The rest of the time she was trying to politely discourage gnomes from eating all of her baked spookies and screese doodles. So, for the mid-way party Alwine decided to hold it in the Ghost Commons. She sent an alert out over Groanspring welcoming everyone to the mausoleum. "Beginners, procrastinators, or overachievers! Come to the Ghost Commons for a HaHoWriMo Gathering. There will be food, stickers, comfy chairs, and writing utensils! Hosted by Alwine Van Brunt." Alwine glanced over at the table that held a jar of hissing penstrictors, fluttering pieces of paper, and various stickers. As a Mawnicipal Leeriason, Alwine received a large package full of stickers and other goodies for the budding authors-- including a large bowl of screesey puffs and a pitcher of Aunt Banshemima's Brew. A rather nasty minipet of hers MIGHT have been lurking around with a copied videotape or two, but you never know about those things... Stickers:Please post if you take one. It can be a short post, even. Please? (Will be adding more tonight)

Zurine was fairly new to the school - and she didn't really know anyone, nor did she really consider herself an excellent writer of tales...but she did like gatherings of almost any sort and she was willing to at least attempt and write something down that might someday resemble a story...or a terrible spew of words to make everyone cringe even understanding she was starting late. It was only halfway through right? She had time to catch up...right?. Either way after a little of wandering and gaining of directions she found herself in the Ghost Commons where this gathering was supposed to be occurring.
It looked like she might be early but that was fine with the Padfoot and she beamed at the ghoul who seemed to be hosting this shindig before wandering towards the table filled with supplies and stickers. Zurine loved stickers and these ones were even in the form of cute little spiders! Still she didn't think it would be polite to simply snatch up a sticker without at least attempting to write something first.
"Hello!" She greeted the hostess happily enough and then set about attempting to get organized, which for Zurine was always somewhat of a battle.

Alwine looked up from her paper, though it wouldn't have been obvious to anyone who wasn't a fellow headless haunt. She waved to the Padfoot and stood up.
"Hello! Are you here for HaHoWriMo? Do you need a penstrictor or--" Alwine paused to slap one that was crawling up her bandaged arm. "-- Sorry. Feel free to make yourself comfortable and help yourself to the snack table. A delivery boil should be here soon with some more caffinated beverages and snacks."
Alwine looked back at her parchment, which was starting to scoot off the table. "How many words have you written so far? I only have a little over 10,000... I have a lot of catching up to do. School has been tough, and I was out for such a long time. Ah, I'm rambling-- I'm so sorry. My name is Alwine."

Zurine was glad the ghost decided to wave at her in greeting - because honestly it was a little bit awkward to try and figure out if the other had noticed her enter or not other wise - I mean it wasn't like she could see the other looking at her the way one typically would. But the wave made things obvious and Zurine paused in her attempt to not drop the notebook she'd brought with her while looking for the penstrictor she'd borrowed from someone because it was pink to beam at the ghost.
"I think mine crawled away" She stated in answer to the penstrictor question, which was unfortunate as Zurine had truly been rather fond of it. Oh well. "But yes..I thought I'd give it a try, though to be honest I hadn't heard of it until just now sooo...your way ahead of me?" She concluded with a wry grin. Ah well so she was starting late. She had time. It was the effort that mattered most anyways she was pretty sure from what she'd read up about this idea. "It's good to meet you Alwine, I'm Zurine" She introduced herself.

"You'll probably catch up in no time," said Alwine. "You just need to put in double the effort is all..." She picked up a penstrictor, apologized to it quietly, and then pinched it so it squeaked and straightened up. With a satisfied bob of her neck, she handed the penstrictor to Zurine. "The pleasure's all mine."
Something was hiding in plain sight.
"I'm glad I got the message out on groanspring. Hopefully more people will show up!" She seemed happy, and her shoulders rose and fell in what might've been a smile.
It was staring at Zurine, but couldn't be seen. It was like a white speck at the edge of her eye, something that should have been noticed but couldn't be.
"If I bother you with any noise, please don't hesitate to let me know. Also, if you have any questions, go ahead and ask. Ahh..."
It moved, somehow. It moved and yet it had never been there. Or had it? None of this was making sense and yet---
-- There it was!
"What genre are you thinking of writing?" asked Alwine.
No, wait. What was that?
There was a tape. It was sitting at Zurine's feet.

Zurine nodded "Well I figure if I try and spread it out so that I do double the words a day instead of trying to catch up in one big chunk then I'll be able to pull it off" There was no way that she could sit down and work up such a huge chunk at once...not and make any of it make sense, by about halfway through the padfoot was sure that her brain would turn to mush and her words would become meaningless babble.
"Thank you" She added accepting the offered penstrictor with a smile "I'm sure more will show up, its a pretty popular event from what I could see" She added brightly, or at least it had looked that way when she checked it out. Popular enough that she'd wanted to give it a try anyways. "Probably...fantasy" Zurine added after a few moments of thought on the matter - yes fantasy was a pretty good genre, lots of potential there. Moving slightly to juggle the notepad she nearly whacked something with her foot and glancing down noticed the tape. She was pretty sure it hadn't been there before. "is...that yours?" She pointing at it after a few moments of trying to figure out how it had managed to appear without her noticing it.

Willow had heard mentions about HaHoWriMo but she had no idea what it was. She didn't use formspring but she was out looking for something to do in the ghost dorms. It was perhaps easier because she lived here to wonder into the commons and look around curiously. A headless ghost and a padfoot. Willow looked curiously as there were lots of papers, penstrictors, and stickers.
She noticed the stickers had HaHoWriMo on it. "Soo... I mean I've heard about it but what does it require?"
The tigress was peering curiously at some of the different things, she assumed it had to do with writing but the question was what did you have to write about.

Before Alwine got the chance to answer it seemed that they were being joined by another - just as she had expected they would be - and even better by the sounds of it it was someone else who hadn't started yet! Good..she wouldn't be the only one trying to play catch up and starting halfway through, maybe they could help motivate each other. Well if she decided to write anyways.
With a glance at Alwine - who was likely far more qualified to answer the tigress' question Zurine decided to take a stab at it anyways. "As I understand it your supposed to write a fictional story of fifty thousand words before the end of the month."

"Thank you! That's it exactly," much more energetic than usual, Alwine pranced (pranced? Yes, that's sort of what it looked like. It was higher than a skip and involved high knees) over to the two guests and handed them each a sticker.
"You can write about whatever you want, too! I am writing about a torrid love affair between a delicate aristocrat and a suave decapitated mummy from the deserts of Halloween. It's so much fun... ah, sorry to bother you with my descriptions."
The videotape sat nearby, and Alwine noticed her Sadako Doll minipet standing beside it. Luckily, the two guests weren't facing it.
"Ah--" Alwine gasped, and the Doll faded into TV static. "That's... well, it's..."
Alwine fidgeted nervously with her skull pin. "It's a cursed videotape. I have this one minipet, you see..."

Willow nodded listening, "Wow fifty thousand words. That sounds like a bit to get done in... half a month." She figured she had missed the start of it, though it did sound like something interesting to work on.
Her tail flickered, as Alwine pranced over and she accepted the sticker she was handed. She smiled as the other talked about a torrid love affair story. Her tail flickered, "Hm.... this could be useful." She gave a small nod it didn't hurt to try something new after all. She paused when Alwine mentioned a cursed videotape, so the tigress glanced around curiously.
"Oh, Is there a place to turn these in at?" She asked looking curiously, if they were writing them, surely there was a place to submit it. In fact it might make the endeavor a little more worth it.

"It is a bit" Zurine agreed with the Tigress "But I think it can be done with a bit of effort" She encouraged "I'm just starting out too" She added so that the other wouldn't think she was the only one starting late. She wasn't sure about the whole turning in thing - she'd only glanced at the information but surely Alwine could fill them in on that little detail.
Accepting the sticker and already thinking about where she would put it back in her dorm she listened to the others story idea with a slight twitching of her ears..it did sound like an exciting story, one that she would certainly read if she saw it in a book "That sounds like an excellent story" She told the headless ghost with a smile "I think I'll do some sort of adventure story" She mused "Something with lots of action" Lots of action would likely be easier to write then something a bit tamer, at least that was her way of thinking and given that she was starting late it was probably smart to choose an idea that would be fairly easy to get words out of.
When the conversation turned back to the tape and leaned down and picked up the one she had pointed at, eyeing it curiously "Ah...a minipet" She stated with a slight nod "They can be quite mischievous can't they" The tape looked fairly harmless to her at the moment but then again lots of things looked harmless but weren't. In any case it was best she picked up the tape then leave it on the ground where she was liable to trip over it. She didn't really need help in tripping thanks..she did that enough on her own as it was.

Mortimer had never struck himself as a writer. Sure he had scribbled the occasional fanfiction (of which no-one knew beyond himself due to its embarrassing content), but if that had qualified him to be a "writer", then perhaps the boycotting of a certain vampire series written by a certain human had no grounds.
Rrrright.
In either case, the zombie had not written in a long time, mostly due to his newfound obsession with video games and tech, at which he was only good at the former. Having received a new game, World of Horrorcraft, and knowing how inclined he was already to spending his time staring at a moniter or tv for hours on end, and knowing as well that zombies didn't typically need as much sleep as others, well . . . One could imagine why he had not checked his Groanspring in a while.
Hence how he was late. One day, he finally remembered he had other things to poke while online and, to his dismay, saw the message Alwine had sent about the HaHoWriMo meeting.
Procrastinators indeed.
Mort sniffed himself quickly (perhaps a bit worse off than the usual scent of decay, but maybe they wouldn't notice), made sure he didn't have extra stains on his clothes, grabbed a pad (but forgot a pen), made sure he had his map, and got the heck out of his room - the slam of his door made several mini pets jump with alarm.
The boil consulted his map hastily as he shambled his way down the hall and out. Ghost dorms, ghost dorms . . . Thankfully they were located right across the undead ones; he had pinpointed their location earlier upon making friends with a dark elemental online. While he didn't need to breathe exactly, Mortimer was out of breath regardless by the time he had entered and located the meeting place - and thankfully, there were only a few other students there at the time. He recognized one ghoul matching her profile picture on Groanspring (Alwine), the second striped one from the field trip (though not by name), and the third from class (which he still felt bad about).
And two of them were looking at a . . . video tape. Sweet Sally, when was the last time he had eyed one of those old-fashioned things? "S-Sorry am late!" he called as he approached, pushing his glasses up.

Temes knew very little about writing, other than what she was assigned for classes, but she knew quite a bit about reading. She enjoyed books to the point that she eagerly devoured them in both languages (a sense of pride coming for being able to finally read English!) and when the chance came for her to give writing a try she figured it would be okay. She barely knew this 'Alwine' but they'd been kind enough to her on the groanspring that she was willing to take a chance. She was a second year now, she'd survived that horrible test, so the Chupcabra decided that she needed to get out there and do more with her life.
She dressed nicely, or at least as nicely as she could muster given her lack of wardrobe choices (she did go shopping and buy a dress, it felt easier on her body), and slowly she headed towards the ghost dorms. By the time she arrived several people were already there, and Chuppi hesitated at the door.
So much for being brave.
