Black Lake ▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅ ▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅ ▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅ – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Ever since Cecilia first spotted the lake behind Hogwarts, she'd been longing for a free day. None of her friends wanted to go with her--"The water's far too cold!" So early in the morning (to avoid strange passerbys), Cecilia woke up and slipped her shiny one-piece bathing suit on and some baggy clothes to go over it and disappeared from her dorm room, heading all the way out of the castle and down to the lake. When she arrived, no one else was awake, let alone around so she quickly took off and folded her clothes, hiding them neatly under a nearby tree, and dived in.
And BURR!
The water was freezing! But it was water, so Cecilia continued to swim regardless of her jittering teeth. Once she had acclimated to the temperature, Cecilia let out a long sigh of relief. She had missed this far too much--in fact, she missed it so much that the idea of mythical creatures swimming with her didn't bother her one bit! But... Oh, but she felt so guilty! Cecilia frowned, paddling her feet further away from the shore. What if Jasper disapproved of her swimming so early in the morning? Cecilia knew that her parents would most definitely hate the idea--what if some mercreature decided to kidnap her? Or worse yet, she was acting so immature, acting like some fish when she was already eleven. Her mother allowed her to swim in the pool she installed for Cecilia, but a lake was something else! A lake felt freer--Cecilia could touch the sandy ground and her hands could sweep around the seaweed. In a pool, it was all chlorinated and magicked to be safe. Oh, mother wouldn't like this... I should get out...
But no matter what Cecilia thought, her body just kept swimming and she slowly began to convince herself that this activity was okay. As long as no one sees me here... I should be fine! It's not like I'd let anyone see me in my swim-suit either... She argued with herself, thinking that her mother would be more annoyed that she looked so indecent--what would people think of her!? I'll just get out before anyone wakes up--I'll be here and gone before they know it... And on that note, Cecilia dunked her head under the water and began to swim below the surface, her feet emerging for several short seconds before disappearing below with the rest of her body.
Underwater was murky--not at all like the clear water of her pool. Cecilia could see little particles floating in the water, which was a wee bit gross... but it was the cleanest Cecilia was going to get. A little bit away, Cecilia saw a thick forest of plants, and though she was tempted to investigate, she stayed where she was, emerging for air seconds later.

Ezra slid out of his room silently, managing to tip-toe over the week old dirty clothes laying on the floor, his eyes glancing over the other boys to make sure they weren't aware of his disappearance. Of course they weren't, most of them slept contently with one limb hanging off the side of the bed. They were in pretty deep sleep. Usually Ezra would be a lump under the blankets as well but he had been restless recently. He had no privacy, he always had a swarm of people hanging around him. He loved every second of that of course, but it was about time he had a moment or two to himself. As he slipped out of the Gryffindor dorm he made his way down the grand staircase and eventually to the brisk air of the cool morning awaiting him outside the castle.
Grinning to himself, Ezra threw the ball lazily between his hands as he made his way down the ragged path leading towards the lake. Usually he'd practice out on the fields but even at that early hour there were sometimes weirdos like him practicing whatever sport they were interested in. Not to mention the fact that he didn't want to be too close to the Quidditch pitch; those crazy fliers often had practice at ridiculous hours. He'd love to say that's why he didn't play the sport but the truth was far more embarrassing.
Finally the lake was in his view. Since he was still only half awake, Ezra decided to get his blood pumping by taking a quick dip in the bitter-cold water. Stripping off his white shirt and black shorts, he left his football by his clothes as he made his way towards the water. He wasn't naked of course, he was wearing his Gryffindor boxers! Despite his age, he already had some toned muscles in comparison to the other children in his year. He didn't do any of that girly dipping your toes into the water to test the temperature stuff, he just ran in. His body instantly froze as he waded in the water, immediately waking up completely. He made sure his feet were always touching the ground as he made his way towards the shore once more.
Ezra stopped, the water up to his waist, as he heard a noise nearby. Scanning the lake with narrowed eyes, they finally rested upon a ripple out deeper in the lake. With a small yelp he stumbled back as he saw the girl appear, at first thinking it was one of the creepy creatures of the lake. Rubbing his eyes in desperation he realized that it was simply a girl from the year below him. Frowning he placed his hands on his hips in confusion. Why was she out here so early?
"Yo girl!" He called, waving to her enthusiastically. He was glad the water straightened his curly hair for him since he didn't have time to do it himself that morning. It was a little sad when he got rid of his symbolic mini-fro at first, but he'd come to much prefer straight hair.

When Cecilia heard another voice, she instantaneously froze. Yo... girl? She circled around, a horrified look on her face. Someone's here? But it's so early! Her head protested, hoping that she was merely hearing things. But when she moved to face the shore, she saw a boy--IN JUST BOXERS! Letting out a yelp, she ducked back into the water, her face furiously red. "S-stop being so indecent!" She shrieked, her back facing the shore now. Thank Merlin, because her face was incredibly flushed--why was he even dressed like that?! Where was his decency! Didn't his mother tell him that it wasn't allowed to run around half-naked! Cecilia's sure did! When she was just a toddler--so what was up with this kid! From the looks of it, he was almost thirteen! They weren't kids anymore--he needed to put some clothes on!
But why was he even out this early anyway!? She was so certain that she'd be the only one up so early in the morning! A horrible feeling twisted inside Cecilia's stomach--she had to get back to her Common Room. Who knew what that barbaric boy would do to her! And all she had on was her swimsuit! Horrified with the situation she allowed herself to get in, she ducked into the water again and kicked. If she moved under the water, he wouldn't be able to see her--she was too far out. I must get to my clothes! Cecilia ordered herself, pushing with both her feet and her arms.
But she was running out of air.
Cecilia usually was able to hold her breath for more than a minute--but there was no way that she was going to be able to make it from where she was to the shore in just one minute! She needed something to give her cover as she came up for air, but there didn't seem to be anything around! Panicked, Cecilia forced her pained lungs to hold on for a bit longer as she desperately glance for some sort of rock--ANYTHING--to give her cover as she came up for breath. But it was futile. Black Lake's surface was smooth as can be. So she pushed off the rocky bottom and gasped, the air rushing to fill her lungs.
I'm not even half-way there! Cecilia realized, her hopes dropping. Her best chance now was to stay in the water--wasn't it? I mean--he does seem reluctant to get back in... But Cecilia didn't dare look back at him. What if he hadn't put on his clothes yet!

With his hands on his hips, Ezra watched in confusion as the girl went through a series of reactions. Shocked at first, and then terrified at his 'indecency', and then embarrassed. Tilting his head he frowned, trying to understand the situation. Girls were so confusing. "Hey! It's not indecent! Most girls would kill to see the Ez shirtless," he called back. With a sigh he realized that she wasn't going to change her mind, and there really was no point in being in the water anymore - he was certainly awake. Shaking his head he turned around and trudged back to the grassy shore, conveniently he wasn't very far out in the first place. 'Damn it.. I was hoping to dry out while throwing the ball around. Now my clothes are going to be super wet. Lame!'
He turned around to glare at the girl for causing him so much inconvenience, but Ezra couldn't see her anymore. She must have swum away out of fear or whatever. With a roll of his eyes he picked up his black shorts and regrettably put them on along with his white top. They both soaked through almost immediately, and his shirt nearly became see-through. He groaned in frustration as he picked up the ball, realizing that she would still probably think of him as 'indecent'. Bah, what did it matter to him! She was gone as far as he could tell, and he still had time to do some running.
Collapsing onto the grass, Ezra propped himself up with his arms and stared out over the lake. It was pretty relaxing. His eyes narrowed as he noticed some bubbles appearing on the surface of the water, then suddenly the girl emerged for air. Grinning he noticed that she wasn't so decent herself, what in her swimsuit. With a laugh he shook his head in disbelief. This girl was certainly a piece of work. Had she been trying to avoid his gaze this whole time? Or did she not want to see him?
"Girl just come to the shore!" He shouted with a look of exhaustion, "Listen, I promise not to look, k? Come get some clothes on." Granted her outfit wasn't even that bad, it was obvious that she was pretty self-conscious about it and he didn't want to disturb her further.
