She'd thought about it and considered it an instance where a little something was required. To Levi, a deed selflessly displayed like that needed to be repaid. The boil she intended to visit was a good friend of Demi's from what she could tell but she hadn't yet gotten his actual name. Nonetheless, the boil had taken it upon himself to help her during their knob examination.

No, it hadn't been a practice exam as she'd thought ... the ghoul had yet to contact her family about it. Not that they'd be particularly upset about it- rather, she'd hoped to really whollop them with a high score or something. The folks back home weren't to best and brightest of Halloween or anything, but she'd wanted to show improvement; that was why she'd come here in the first place.

The boil with the guitar was a reaper from what she'd learned from the hound. He'd also given her a room number which would narrow things down. Luckily, the tatzel had been to the reaper dorm before to visit Mot so- she could find her way through the halls easily enough.

With a ceramic plate covered over by foil housed in a picnic basket at her arm, Levi came to the door of the room and knocked using her free hand. Her knuckles gently rapped at the door thrice. Then she waited idly, tail swaying behind her slightly while she waited for a response.

Was the boil in?

The doorknob turned slowly and the door swung open. A tiny little will o the wisp sprite peeked up at her curiously. "Let'em in, Riff," Roch called from inside. "And no givin' them a hard time, even if it is a ghoul, got it?"

The sound of a guitar being played softly was heard then, and seen as the door opened the rest of the way. The punk boil in question was lounging on a large wrought iron papasan bed, playing his guitar. The room itself was practically empty, with the bed, an old fashioned looking skelevision in front of it, and a desk and chair to the side. In the back was a little half kitchen, and to the side there was a small room built into the corner with a closed door.

"Oh, you're Demi's friend, right?" Roch said. "From the exam. Sorry I couldn't get you down again, I ran out of time."

She was greeted at the door by a rather cute looking critter. Well thank ya, screecheart. She hadn't the foggiest of why this Riff would gee her a hard time but- if he meant battle...

But now was not the time for such things given it was the dorm of someone she wasn't all that familiar with. This was time for payback; Levi stepped into the room when the way was clear enough for her to do so and smiled at the reaper boil. Ah~ nearly forgot 'bout that. She did recall typing over groanspring to someone about a music club and her playing her Pa's banjo. It was him?

Oh yeah, where'd ma head go. Names Levi. She offered a hand to the boil in the bed, sitting at the edge with one leg laying over the top and thinking nothing of greeting him in such a position. I knew ya'll were a friend a' Rex too. Seems like we'd been seein' each other 'round but never really met. Good ta' finally meetcha'! Ain't gotta worry none 'bout tha exam. In fact, I'wanted ta thank 'ya proper. So I came on by...

She still held the basket over one forearm off the bed. Whether or not Roch understood that that was the thing she meant...

"Hey, it's no problem," Roch said, moving so he was sitting up more and she had more room. "Any friend of Demi's and all that. And Xiu's," he added. So he had a ghoul sitting on his bed that he hardly knew. Sure, he could handle that!

"I'm Roch," he told her, his eyes going to the basket. "Does thanking people come with snacks? Cuz that basket smells really good," he said, glancing over at her expectantly with a grin on his face. He was extremely easy to read.

That's right. Fergot ya must know Xiu well too, eh? Good folk tha both of 'em. She took Roch up on his silent offer of more space and wriggled her sandals off onto the floor below to cross her legs on the bed, sitting up straight and tall.

Oh- so Roch was that sort of boil alright. There were certainly a few back home who made that sort of face when food was in the near vicinity. Only- they were furrier looking back home. The reaper was indeed much easier to read. She quickly pulled the basket over her lap. Yew betcha it does! kekeke. Got'a keen sense 'a smell thar, Roch. Ya sure ya'ain't kin ta Rex? chuckling, she opened one of the lids on the basket and pulled out the covered plate of spookies. Wasn't sure if ya 'had a taste like Demi tho... don't wager you'd been wantin' bacon-wrapped spookies n'stead?

The candy corn spookies left a scent of sugar and freshly baked spookie dough wafting into the open air as the wrapping came off. Closing the lid, she placed the plate on top of the basket and looked to Roch for a reaction. If he didn't like these... she'd figure something else out? But who could resist candy corn, really, right?

"Bacon--" He looked thoughtful for a long moment, which was disturbing all on its own. "Maybe on the side!" he decided. "But not wrapped around it, I don't think," he said as he grabbed one of the spookies and took a bite. "Jack, that's great," he said, sighing happily. "I haven't had spookies for a while! DAYS even," he added. "Best way to thank a guy," he added with his mouth full.

After two more he stopped himself. He didn't HAVE to stop, but he was still being careful. "I woulda got you down a second time, but I ran out of time," he said, shrugging. "It didn't break anything, did it?" he asked.

He was already comfortable with her sitting on his bed with him. Interesting. She was pretty straight forward, wasn't she?

Days? She chuckled at Roch's apparent craving for spookies, glad to be the one to fulfill that need for him with her payback. Mission accomplished. Yeah, them boils always did try n' git 'em of 'a tha try before they even dun been coolin' fer long 'nuff. Gotta put ma Pa in'a whole other room when Ma makes 'em. It was a fond memory from home that came with these spookies. Pa trying to sneak over to the tray despite Levi locking him in the cellar ... Ma hitting him forcefully with a giant wooden spoon... then giving him one anyway. Levi didn't get how that really worked out but- it meant for a fine family memory that everyone enjoyed.

At the mentioning of the exam, Levi shook her head. Nah, don't be thinkin' none 'bout it. Shouldn't be lookin' ta no one fer help if yer tha one bein' tested. She shifted, allowing herself to rest back on her hands, basket and cookies still residing in her lap. Mighty nice 'a ya fer what ya did the first time, but I'm thankin' ya fer tha gesture, not fer gettin' me down. Even if he had failed to release her the first time, she would've respected the boil's efforts. It was she ho needed to learn to get out of the grasp of giant student-eating plants herself.

Then her neatness kicked in. Op- don't wan a be gettin' none 'a them crumbs in yer bed now- ... eh... kitchen's that way? She pointed to the back area, settling the basket on the bed and taking up the plate in one hand again.

"Um, yeah," Roch said, a bit blankly, letting her do what she wanted. Well... he knew she and Xiu were friends, so this hint of mothering shouldn't have surprised him THAT much. But still... Plus, he was getting used to her accent still, which was just as hard to handle as Lark's, but completely different.

"Um... it wasn't that big of a deal, y'know? I cheated to win, cuz I got some jerky from Hel earlier and just bribed the dogs to come closer. So gettin' you down, well, that was the most action I SAW in that exam," he said with amusement. Of course, the fact that he'd been bleeding at the time did come to mind, but he ignored that fact just as he had the day of the exam.

Nodding and making her way to the kitchen, she placed the plate on the counter. Don't gotta refrigerate 'em er nothin' yet but if ya want 'em gooey ya'll can pop em back in an oven ... just fer a minute er so. Do that more than once n' ya might be lookin' at some pretty hard spookies though. She chuckled to the last bit, making her way out of the kitchen again. When Roch used a certain word.... a visual change in her mood would've occurred. Cheated? Eyes slightly narrowed with hint of a flickering sheen to them. You'd downright call yerself 'a cheat?

She obviously had a problem with that word. West had used it on her before and she spent the next slew of prank attempts on him, trying to get him back... for his to take his words back. She did not enjoy being called a cheat; Roch openly did so all of his own free will. This was cause for both bewilderment and a bit of anger. He's a cheat?

Well- once the rest of the story filed, she eased out of her glare and exhaled. Well that ain't so much cheatin' as havin' a bit 'a luck! Cheatin' would be if ya knew 'bout tha critters beforehand n' stuffed yer pockets with jerky. She sat back on the bed then, a smile returning to her face. Glad I could give ya SOME action then! kekeke~

"Well, yeah, I didn't know about them or anything. I just ah... tend to carry a lot of snacks in general," he admitted. "It was just kinda luck that it was jerky that day and not something else, but I guess something else could have worked too."

He shrugged, getting off his bed and looking around. Fact was she was just close enough to his type of ghoul that he suddenly DIDN'T feel comfortable lounging on his bed for the rest of the visit. She could bake, she seemed the mothering type--in a no nonsense way, and she had white hair and a cute face. Not that he liked her like that or anything but, well, the punk boil was vulnerable at the moment.

"You like karaoke?" he asked.

Reckon that's 'bout right. Good, so he wasn't really a cheat; just happened to have the right snack at the right time. Nodding slowly and looking up to the ceiling in thought, she turned to angle herself in Roch's direction when he spoke again. That'a 'nother kinda snack?

Karaoke was a new term. Don't know, but'll try just 'bout anythin' really. At the prospect of trying something new, her tail rose and swayed excitedly.

"It's singing," he said with a grin. "I've got a karaoke booth, cuz there's a machine that plays music and gives you the words to the song on the screen." He pointed to the booth in the corner, then headed over, opening the door for her. "It's a lot of fun. And the machine has practically EVERY song you can think of, hell, I even updated it the other day!"

The booth was done in silver and red, with a black leather couch to the side. There was a platform to the side with a mic sitting in a holder and a machine beside it. There was a screen to the right of both. "You like to sing?"

A singin' machine. That's a mighty neat thing ta'have 'round. Singing was a way to pass the time back home when working the fields. If one could imagine rows of large tatzelwurms picking candy corn kernels from tall lattices of vines while singing to the background playing of a banjo and other instruments potentially playing, well- that was home.

Only rarely did she listen in/join in singing with other ghouls in more contained spaces where more youthful tunes could be learned. In no way was Levi familiar with what was in for the times; she just knew what she liked or didn't like. Eh... don't figure they'd got any 'a them songs. The tatzel just spoke this aloud to herself, answering one of her own questions. She was, however, intrigued by the new contraption Roch presented despite her lack of technical proficiency. Wouldn't hurt to take a look and see, right? Don't really know too many ditties. She crawled off the bed, pattering over to the open door of the karaoke bar on light bare feet.

Sing 'a little. Just when we're workin' 'way is all. He was a boil; he didn't need to know she sometimes sung with the other ghouls. She wasn't familiar with the name of the song, but knew the lyrics to the one she'd sung at the haunted house. It was most certainly one she'd learned off the ghouls back home given the subject matter, but it was the tune that she enjoyed. Anythin' 'bout cow boils in 'ere? Tilting while in front of the screen, hands clasped behind her back, she wondered where all the songs were kept in there.

(( Levi sung this at the HH. Is there a book she might be able to point out the lyrics from? ))
PostPosted: Sat Dec 24, 2011 12:54 pm

"Oh, uh," Roch headed inside, grabbing a thick book from the corner and flipping through the pages. "Cowboil... Cowboil... Jack there's a lot of these," he said, handing it over to her. There was a list of songs with numbers besides them. "Well, pick one of these and type the number in and the lyrics will show up on that screen right there, see?" he said, pointing to the screen on the right.

Country, jack, he'd totally forgotten that she was the banjo playing country ghoul. Ah well, at least this was likely to entertain her.

She watched the reaper take out a rather large book and took it when it was offered to her. Well thank ya'. Noting the numbers, Levi scanned for something that might ring a bell. Cowboil...Cowboil... what was that other word? She hummed a tune then like she was trying to play the song she knew in her head to get to the part she was looking for.

Ah-! Thar. She pointed a finger triumphantly at "Casanova" and then looked to the left for the number. So 'I type it. Like... this? Putting in the number, sure enough, the familiar music and backup vocals began. Levi's eyes widened, nearly dropping in front of the screen at how mind-boggling this technology was. Even when the initial instrumental was going, she had to add commentary. Well I'll be gosh-darned 'in a ditch!... Ah-!

Then the words came up just in time for that cue. The cue and lyrics she was already versed in, but the visual aid of the lyrics was what caught her attention. The screen. It changed when more words were needed. Jack almighty.

Ya better take'it from me
That boil is like a disease~...

Levi tapped a foot to the rhyme of the beat, singing the song she'd learned from the ghouls back home. The tatzel looked away from the screen when the song moved along quicker. Interestingly enough, it became more of a distraction when caught up watching the colors change from what was said and what word it was on next. Best to stick with the tune on this one.
