The words that Reisx had spoken days before had not left Ai’s head. She pondered exactly what was going to happen. Tonight, her stall was kept unlocked, and sliding open the door was not problem for the fighter. She wondered what her owner would do if he happened to come around for a midnight stroll, but he was so preoccupied with other things right now that (especially the wrinkling little two-legger his wife always carried around) to even fathom that idea right now.
Strolling out of the compound, Ai made her way just from the stables, and into the settlement. The moon was covered the by dark rolling crowds. Perhaps a storm was set to hit the settlement. Whatever the reason, Ai didn’t like it.
She roamed the settlement, sticking to the shadows and searching for Reisx. If she didn’t find her there, she’d leave through the patch Reisx had shown her, and search for her outside the gate.

Reisx needed to tell Cellen everything, everything that had happened, everything she wanted to do. But what Reisx had planned, she wanted to do it soon, and for that, Cellen could be safe. He was strong and beyond the walls, but Ai - her pups, they weren't. She needed to be sure they were safe.
She'd met them all now, Jak, Nef, Kita, she wanted them all to be safe but for that, Ai needed to know what she was going to do, what Reisx was going to risk.
She needed to settle the score, settle a part of the past so that she may regain the pieces of herself that had been broken in the settlement.
She had to do it soon, or she felt like the missing pieces, the holes in herself, would begin to eat away at what was left.
Looking to the gates, the wall, Reisx waited for the guards to pass, she needed the right time to come, but looking to the sky, a storm was coming, in more ways than one, and she had to act quickly.

Even though mokai could see better at night then humans, Ai still found it difficult to find the feral mokai she had been looking for. The darkened sky (with no moonlight to aid her) and the equally darker pelt of the female made things quite difficult.
She watched from the shadow of a building at the gate, as the guards made nightly strolls. She inwardly rolled her eyes. Didn’t the humans see that there was a storm coming, and that meant to get inside?
The guards soon gave a nod to each other, turning away from the gate and walking away. This was her chance to get past them. With the smallest jingle of her nametag on her collar, she bolted from the shadows. She was just a swift blur of gray as she glided past the barrier, crashing into a dark mokai on her way.
Just the female she was looking for!

As she had gone to run forward and through hte opening, it seemed as though something in the night had other plans. As the fore hit her, she was not dazed, but confused, and turnedwhen falling to fall on her paws, ready for attack. But her fur settled when she saw golden eyes reflect in minimal night light. "Ai," she spoke softly. They were still too close to where the guards could see.
"How did you?" she stopped herself, they could answer that later, "come on, quickly, so they don't see," and she motioned for the tree line so they would be out of sight of any lights that would reflect out. Reisx didn't want their eyes to reflect yellows and ruby reds in the light to let the guards know mokai had escaped, or were lurking.
Reisx went for the trees, but made sure to watch for Ai, as she broke into the tree line she settled beneath the canopy that let minimal night light in from the mon peeking behind the in-coming storm's clouds.
"I need to find you," she said softly, calming her breaths, her heart, "I didn't want to wait too long."

“Reisx!” she said quietly, composing herself a little more. “You need to have some brighter markings. With this storm rolling in I could barely see you.” She told the other, half-joking. With all matters aside, she turned her gaze quickly to the gate, nodding as the other spoke. “Right.”
She followed Reisx into the base of the tree line, taking cover under ever more darkness. Just a hint of whatever portion of the moon had not been covered by the clouds was being let in through the thick overtop above.
Ai took a moment to think of the correct wording. “Is what you said before….is it happening?”

Even if Reisx had the ability to make her coat lighter, she doubted she would accept the choice. Though Ai's coat suited her, Reisx didn't feel as if anything different would match quite who she was. Her fur, regardless of keeping her from Ai's view at first, was valuable when going back into the settlement. It gave her cover, and let her blend in with the shadows in the alleys.
She shook her head, "No, if that was the case, I would have come hours ago to see you," she said. "I needed to tell you what was going to happen, of what I know, so that you, and the pups can be safe, I need you to be safe."
Reisx took a breath, her eyes meeting Ai's.
"Now...soon, on a night when the moon is full, the night clear and still, it won't be the others I mentioned to you that will be coming to the settlement," she paused, "it will be me."
She turned her head slightly, wondering what thoughts might be going through Ai's head.
"I don't know what the silhouetted one is planing, but I know what I have to do, and...I just need you and the pups to be in that night, be safe away. I don't want you getting hurt, nor them."

Ai froze. What was she talking about. Reisx was going to be the one coming into the settlement? That wasn’t…so bad? She had snuck in many times before, why would this time be different. There just seemed to be more that the striped female wasn’t grasping, or perhaps something more than Reisx wasn’t telling her.
“…What are you going to be doing…?” She dared to asked, her eyes beginning to focus in the epic darkness that surrounded them outside the settlement.
“I know for fact I can keep Kita safe, as she has been coming out of the nursery more and more to stay with JB, his female and I. But…I wish I could say the same for Tari and Jak. I will pass on the message to Erebus, let him know, and I will also scout down Jak and tell him not to wander the streets for the upcoming nights.”
…”But, do tell me, why would they be in danger?”

Reisx thought of Ai's other pups, Jak, the little boy she met who had been tied up, he seemed strong willed, but light hearted. Tari, or Nef as Reisx called her, was a bundle of joy who liked to play games. Kita had a frown like her mother, but also her mother's strength. "I know you can keep Kita safe, but for the others, if they ask why, tell them I sent the message, they'll understand," she said with a wink, "you're other children, they will be strong, just like you, I swear b their eyes."
She shifted her weight and looked to Ai. "I'm going to do something I should've done a long time ago," her eyes narrowed then, and looked to the slum areas, where her old master, some called him the mechanic, lived, "I'm going to go back to him, I'm going to take something from him."
Whether it was a piece of flesh, an object of value, or something else entirely, she wasn't sure yet.
"I want him to know I'm still alive, and that he didn't break all of me."
She stopped, looked to the sky, "I just don't want you, or the pups anywhere he might go to look for me in a rage, I don't need your pups, or you, hurt, because of what I'll do."

Ai nodded. She would definitely relay the message to the others. In the morning, she’d do jus that.
Her eyes followed Reisx’s gaze to the slums, coming to the conclusion that that was where her old master resided.
However, she seemed to be caught between a rock and a hard place. “…Would you owner sound alarms for you, if and when he caught site of you?” She knew JB, even though he was busy with his child, always was one of the first to go out searching for the intruding mokai that had sounded the alarms. If Reisx would be the one who sounded it, and if JB had just so happened to have Ai with him at the time, then she’d have to break a promise she made to her most loyalist of friends.
“I will keep the pups safe.” She would do that. She was sure the humans who owned her puppies weren’t stupid enough to bring them outside at night anyways.
“Just promise me you’ll stay safe.”

"He might..." Reisx said trailing off, "I wouldn't out it passed him, it's why I need to make sure all of you are away and safe. I'd think if he came across any mokai in the night, as I'm so dark in color, he'd lash out before making sure its me," she thought of how dark Kita was.
If he touched her, Reisx would kill him.
She knew, if the alarms sounded, it would put her in a hard place not only in the settlement, but here, with Ai. She had duties, loyalties, and she didn't want Ai reprimanded for not responding.
"He lives in the slums, in a broken down workshop house, if you've heard your master ever refer to 'the mechanic,' or the 'drover,' that's him. He fiddles with, science...metal things," she said flipping her paw. "He usually has a dark kind of mask on his face..."
With Ai's request, Reisx let her silver eyes meet Ai's gold, and there was understanding in silence, and she nodded.
She'd do everything she could to be safe.
"You keep them safe...as well as yourself," Reisx leaned forward and touched her forehead to Ai's, Ai's horn barely touching Reisx's fur at the angle , "I just need to do this."
She didn't want to feel like a broken window anymore only able to slightly breathe fresh air, but jagged and ruined by harsh and unfeeling action.
Reisx pulled away and looked to where the guards walked back and forth, and she looked to Ai, "be careful getting back."

At the description of the male, Ai nodded. “He’s might have mentioned him once or twice. I’ll make sure to listen more closely when I’m around him.” She was sure he had spoken of the ‘mechanic’ before, but the human language was hard for Ai to comprehend. She knew her name, and basic commands, but that was it. Everything else was just blah to her ears.
“I will.” She would keep her pups out of harms way, and would try herself to stay that way too. She knew Reisx would do the same.
Ai nodded, turning away from Reisx, as she scuttled away from her feral friend, waiting for the guards to criss-cross one more time, before darting past them. The words from the other rang in her mind as she trotted in the shadows, back up to the compound and into her stall. Tomorrow she’d have to find Erebus, tell him to keep Tari safe, and then she’d have to do the same with Jak.

Reiwx watched Ai go, and she stood and walked back into the darkness of the woods. She knew, that someday, the distance, the fact that she was feral, and Ai was not, could one day put their friendship, put both of them in jeopardy.
As she walked she sighed, took a breath and knew she would have to stay confident and strong.
She had to do this, she had to.
