The Gym. Petro had never stepped hoof in it before. It had been under construction during his first (and apparently last) Gym class with Red. But now that it was open for use, the tikbalang wanted to try it out for himself. While the idea of shadow boxing or fighting against a training dummy normally appealed to the horse boil, it seemed like a waste for his first use to be a solo fight.
So he went and sought out a partner. One he hadn't seen for some time and hoped would still remember him. Reaching the the top floor of the Monster dorms, Petro's knuckles rapped loudly on Sheridan's door. "Sheridan, 's me! Tro! Y' in?"

The knock had caught him by surprise, as had the sound of a familiar voice. Of course he recognized the sound of his friend's voice, even if he hadn't seen him much lately. So much had happened, so much had changed, but the dragon would never forget his friend.
"One minute!"
His voice was muffled through the closed door, followed by the sound of scrambling talons and perhaps a book being dropped on a table. A moment later, the door opened and Sheridan emerged from the room.
"Tro, what brings you here?"
A faint smile, he was glad to see his friend again.

Petro brightened to learn Sheridan was in! Good! That meant he wouldn't have to go through the entire campus to look for him! When the door opened, he remained outside as his face pulled into a wide grin that had his eyes tapering. He looked like he was about to give Sheridan the most wonderful, most beneficial news ever! "Wanted to let y' know the Gym's open!" One hand gestured towards the facility's general direction while the other rested on his hip.

Sheridan blinked, staring at Petro for a moment as if he expected his friend to say something more.
"The gym?"
He blinked again, not entirely sure why Petro seemed so cheerful about this news. It was most certainly interesting news, considering the gym had been closed since his own enrollment at Amityville. Then there were the recent events, he certainly had not expected the gym to have opened so soon after.
And yet, was it really something to be so cheerful about? His one experience in gym class had not been exactly pleasant, he still had nitemares about skitter sharks!

The tikbalang nodded enthusiastically in confirmation. "Yeah! Figured since y' ain't a Fitness Club member or a Bruteballer we could have a spar in the gym 'stead." Petro meant well, oh he truly, truly had no malice or ill intention for his invitation. He was excited and eager to have his first ever gym battle with Flannery Sheridan and he wasn't bothering to hide it. Petro just didn't seem aware that Sheridan might not be the sort who... appreciated physical exercises the way he did.

The dragon eyed his friend curiously, wondering at whatever possessed him to think Sheridan had ever been one for 'sparing'. A question about Stakespear, math, or science would have been more to his interests.
Still, if his first year at Ammityville had taught him anything, it was that he was woefully unprepared and unskilled in combat. A shortcoming he was quickly concluding was going to get him into serious trouble sooner than he would have ever expected, or worse.
Finally, after a moment of thoughtful silence, Sheridan nodded.
"Alright, but can we spar without the skitter sharks?"
He really did not like those things.

Tro knew who he could approach for help when it came to the tough intellectual subjects. He just, sort of wanted the dragon to know what the horse monster could be approached for in return. No, it wasn't to show off or anything like that. It was just something to encourage the dragon boil to venture from his usual haunts.
A hearty clap to Sheridan's back was followed by laughter, "Promise y', if we run into any'v 'em, I'll stall 'em for y'." With that, Petro started for the stairs, glancing over his shoulder to wait for his friend to join him. He was smiling as they headed for the training facility, his mind focused entirely on the spar so that he wouldn't think about the recent events.

Sheridan smiled, though he wasn't sure just how comforting Petro's words were, well it was the thought that counted.
A nod, the dragon stepped into the hallway closing the door behind him and followed Petro to the gym.
There was no turning back now.

Petro began to roll his shoulders, lightly jogging in place to loosen and limber up. "Y' oughta do a bit of stretching first, 's not a good idea to just dive right in." he suggested. Petro didn't need too much stretch and warming up. He was used to physical activities and if necessary could go straight into a fight. But Sheridan's reaction to his invitation suggested that the celestial dragon wasn't of that persuasion. "When y're ready, just come at me. And don't hold back," the grin on his face turned almost... feral.
HP: 30/30

Sheridan had followed quietly, tail twitching with his steps. He wasn't exactly sure what stretching would accomplish or why his friend thought it was so important. Petro would have been correct in any assumptions that Sheridan had never been one for physical activity (well unless it involved flying). He'd have to take Petro's word on that matter.
And then they had reached the gym, and Petro was telling him to start the battle. Sheridan watched Petro for a moment, a thoughtful twitch of his tail. Okay then, no backing out, he'd have to make a move.
A polite bow signaled that Sheridan was ready to start (or as ready as he was going to be), and then a moment later he had lunged, leaping into the air and then diving toward Petro with a punch aimed at the horse boil's jaw. Here goes nothing.

Petro mimicked the bow before he smoothly shifted into an open stance. Ah, good, Sheridan wasn't going to need any additional motivation. He waited at the last minute to lean back, the strike to the jaw glancing him. Not bad, not bad for someone who wasn't accustomed to battles. The tikbalang reached out, grabbing Sheridan's outstretched arm and using the dragon's momentum to slam him onto the ground.

Sheridan had barely had a moment to acknowledge his punch had hit (though not so well as he had hoped), not time for any sense of satisfaction. One moment he had struck, the next he knew he was snatched through the air and hitting the ground with a heavy thud. Ow, he had not expected that at all, Petro was far faster than he had guessed.
This was no time to lay there contemplating what had happened or how to respond. This was the time to get back on his feet now and get out of reach! He had quickly darted back from Petro, and hopefully for a moment out of range.
Time to try a different approach. The dragon's jaws parted, as he leapt airward once again, this time sending a spray of freezing plasma crystals in Petro's direction.

Petro was immediately on his feet, alert of what Sheridan might try next. Brown eyes widened at the breath attack, never having seen one before. The projectiles shot at him as he dove to the side. He wasn't fast enough as some of the crystals nicked him on the arm. He hissed, startled at the burning cold. Rolling right back onto his feet, he charged at the celestial dragon in an attempt to tackle him and pin him to the ground.

Sheridan growled in frustration, he was far from experienced in combat, a fact that was showing all too well. Petro was far quicker than he had expected, and even the look of surprise from the horse was no consolation when the bulk of his attack had missed.
Wha--arrgg!
Next he knew, the dragon was on the ground again, this time pinned under Petro before he had had the chance to act on his thought of an aerial strike. His tail snapped, pulling his legs up to kick at Petro and hopefully free himself. Were the strike successful, his intent was to immediately take to the air, it was time to start using his wings to his advantage.
