Death hunters, like poor Gale, had it rough. Not only did their training course suck, but so did their instructor. The poor trainees were saddled with a dude on the proverbial rag twenty four seven. Three hundred plus days a year. A few breaks that were short live and then- nothing. Just Caelius treating them like they were even lower than dirt. It wasn’t a good feeling to have for him, and he was just a moon hunter. He wouldn’t be stuck with the guy forever. Poor death hunters. Maybe they would get lucky and Caelius would get himself killed while PMSing and-
No that was a cruel thought. He might be a huge raging douche but the guy didn’t deserve to die. Marcus figured at the very least he deserved to have his a** handed to him like the last mission. So, small miracles. He had no illusuions that their time with the death hunter was over.
Sighing he walked back to the training course. It was that time again. On his way he could smell the scent of wet earth, of that woody fragrance. It mixed with the cool fog in the air and was almost calming, provided Marcus ignored the fact that he was on his way to have his s**t handed to him by the death hunter course. As he arrived he was neither pleased nor agitated to find the bored techs waiting for some poor sap to come try the course out. Today, he would be that poor sap. The Pod was readied and Marcus hoped this time he might not die right off the bat. He had a goal damn it, one he wanted to achieve. That goal being to beat each course at least once, no matter how many tries it took him. With the hunter course though.. Hard to say, it was a bit insane to think he could get it on his first try. But… he had to try, otherwise he’d simply never know and then he would have even worse of an ego. A bruised ego could heal, but one that was ripped apart and stomped on? Not so much.
Pod ready, the golem waited for Marcus to ‘awaken’ and begin the course. Let luck be a lady and have a crush on him today. As soon as he closed his eyes and reopened them, he was in the golem. It was now or never, do or die. As soon as he stepped onto the first tile he found him self wishing he had just flat died. Why did they have to feel pain? Seriously why couldn’t they just be painless golems? Ughhhh. So much pain. But he was still alive and able to make it to the next tile. Hopefully his next choice would be a lot more forgiving. This was only one of five after all.
This was going to a pain filled day, he could tell.
