T'rel hated Wing meetings. Hated them. It wasn't that he wasn't a good wingleader. It wasn't that his wing was full of unruly dragonriders who never did their duty. He didn't like being responsible for other dragonriders' lives. He didn't like the idea that one mistake could take one of his wingmates' lives. He ran a hand through his curls, a nervous habit, and glanced at Zelith. The big bronze was still sleeping on his couch. That was a first. That T'rel be up and about before his beloved dragon.

It didn't seem all that long ago that the bronze had had to push T'rel out of his weyrling cot to wake him for lessons. Though those carefree days were gone, those days when chores and not oiling his dragon enough had been the only troubles on his mind, the memory made him smile. If only Ista could go back to that time! But Thread had returned. They had to prepare. They had to. There had been enough transfers that they would have to work on new formations. The sooner they prepared, the better.

Zelith.

Not now, Mine.

Zelith!

The bronze gave an irritated rumble before opening one eye to acknowledge his rider. When he noticed T'rel with a mug of klah, he snorted. Is it time to wake, Mine? The sun has not yet shown itself. We sleep until the sun is high. Zelith wound his tail around himself and turned away from his rider. I will wake when the sun is high. Not before. And though the bronze seemed quite content to sleep until well past noon, his rider grinned.

"Alright, Zellie. We'll skip the wingmeeting. They won't have a bronze to lead them. Perhaps Azimuth--"

No! Zelith lifted his head and turned to look at his rider. The eye facing Tarel was an angry red. Azimuth does not know Ista. I will guide them. I will lead them. We will go. Hurry, mine! We will be late! The bronze stood from his couch and roughly nudged at his rider with his snout, causing the man to lose some of his klah. Hurry, mine!

Call our wing.

Xenith, Tanzith, Azimuth, Mirith, Cheth, Timath, Videath, Ikadith, Burmeth, Servith, Tomoth, Leoth--

Do you really have to list them all? T'rel asked, grimancing. Zelith had always liked addressing each dragon in their wing seperately.

Yes. Gereth, Amarath, Torath, Sleoplath, Bocaith, Cath, Kivath, Erebeth, Calith, Maith--

"Zelith. Just call the wing."

Mine requests your presence in the bowl for training. Do not be late.

Mine, I do not wish to disturb you, but you said to wake you at this time. Azimuth's voice resounded in his head in the early morning. T'nus groaned, but rolled out of bed anyway. Having spent the evening, until the earlier hours of the morning, comforting a drunk weyrleader, he did not get as much sleep as he had planned. Fortunately, T'rel had at least warned them of the meeting ahead of time.

He shook Lavi's shoulder to wake her and then went to see about getting them some klah and some breakfast. Both dragons were already up, lounging in the sun on the weyrledge. "Good morning Xenith." he greeted. Xenith just snorted.

After a short while, Lavi was up and joined them out on the ledge. By the time T'rel called the meeting together, they had already dressed and eaten and were about ready to go.
We have been called.
Zelith calls us. Both dragons informed their riders.
"Right then, shall we go?" asked T'nus, who was already grabbing the riding straps to pull himself onto Azimuth.
Yes, yes! We must not be late. said Xenith, who insisted on being not only on time, but early to every meeting.

As they flew down to the bowl, T'nus looked around but it seemed they were the first ones there.
Zelith, hm? What's your opinion of him?
Thinks a little too much of himself, but mostly nice. The one thing his always-friendly dragon didn't like was an overly pompus bronze. Or perhaps dislike was the wrong word. He liked them- he liked teasing them!

The two dragons touched down in the bowl side by side and waited. Xenith's bright eyes were swirling happily. She loved training!

((quickly adding in the other two..))

~~~
In his weyr (he lived in a weyr now!) R'nan was reading at his desk while his big brown dozed off on his couch.
Burmeth cracked an eye. Zelith is saying something.
R'nan glanced over his shoulder, but did not stop what he was doing. What did he say?
Something about a meeting. he muttered and closed his eye as if that was the end of it. R'nan put down his work and turned in his chair.
What meeting, Burmeth? he asked. The large brown shifted on his couch and pretended not to hear. The wing meeting?
Right. That one.
Burmeth! You need to tell me these things. Now, come on. We have to go.
Burmeth sat up, but did not budge. His eyes swirled red. I do not like these meetings, R'nan. Or training. You are still small, you should not have to fight thread yet.
Small? I'm older that you! R'nan huffed.
Burmeth rumbled with laughter and stood to his full, enormous height. Yes, but I have finished growing, Mine. He settled back into the couch. Yes. We will not fight. Not for several more turns yet. Burmeth smiled contentedly, satisfied with his decision, while his rider glared.
As always, it took all of his strength of will to force Burmeth to -finally- get up and take him to the bowl.
Meanwhile, nearby, the young healer and her little blue touched down in the bowl as ordered. Both had been sleeping, but neither one slept very deeply. So with only a little bit of rushing they made it to the bowl for the meeting on time.
Mine! You must wake now, Mine! L'fir could hear Bocaith bouncing around, in fact he could feel it. The blue seemed to have lost none of his energy growing up. Everytime the blue's weight slammed back down onto the floor of their weyr it sent a vibration through everything. Groaning L'fir turned away from him and attempted to go back to sleep. Mine, Zelith calls. Zelith? Oh, what did he want? He and his rider were never up this early and if they were there was no reason they had to force it on the rest of them.
He says that his requests we go to the bowl for training. He says we must not be late, Mine. He couldn't be serious. They want him to do training at this time of the morning? They should be so lucky. Just as L'fir was about to go back to sleep, between with the consequences of skipping training he felt something collide with his shoulder. Opening his eyes the bluerider rolled his eyes and looked up just to see the tiny green perched on his shoulder staring at him.
"Good morning, Playmate." The green firelizard chirped at him as Bocaith once again complained that Zelith had called and they needed to go. How had he ended up with probably the most energetic dragon in the Weyr and an energetic firelizard to go with it. L'fir let out a defeated sigh and received happy trills from both dragon and firelizard. It was only a few minutes before the young rider was dressed and he and Bocaith were on their way to land at the training with Playmate happily gliding along with them.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Though awake Ticene had still not gotten out of bed. The rider was perfectly content to lie there and think. Calith was not yet awake so there seemed little reason for her to be up and rushing around. The young woman was contemplating certain aspects of her life when the dragon stirred. Immediately Tic could feel her beloved irritation, something, or someone, had woken Calith up and that was never a good idea. The dragon gave an aggravated huff before relaying Zelith's message to Ticene. At the present moment in time she did not particularly like the bronze, this was only because he'd woken her and soon enough she would forget why she did not like him.
Slipping out of bed Ticene quickly dressed and walked to her dragon's side, where the creature still lay in her wallow. I do not see why I should attend their training. She said, her annoyance clearly showing through. We were already made to go through training. Why, now that we are older, must we still do it? Would it not have been wiser to teach us everything that we need know, before they dismiss us. Tic scratched Calith's eyeridge as she continued to point out that this was ridiculous and if they insisted that she be there then why had they not chosen a more suitable time to do so? Did they expect to be at this until dusk. If not then why hadn't they started later and if so, she did not intend to go at all.
"Love, perhaps they want you to attend training simply so you can show the other dragons how it is done. I am certain that if you were the one demonstrating then not a single one would be able to not pay attention." Calith contemplated that for a moment before eventually agreeing that of course they needed her for training. How else did they expect to learn if she was not there to guide them. Yes, of course she needed to be there. Rising to her feet the dragon nudged her nearly laughing rider out of their weyr. They had to hurry now, it would be terribly unseemly for them to be late. As it was the pair managed to touch down just moments before L'fir and Bocaith and remarkably on time.
Mine, Zelith. Maith's cheerful tone made Kaila look up from her desk in her weyr, several piles of cloth strips on the desk. The healer had been preparing a bit of first aid. She got up after tying her hair back and glanced at Maith while the green was pacing.
Kaila sighed and smiled, "Come on, Maith. Let's see T'rel."
R'mera blinked as he felt Sleopath's headbutt into his side. The young blue rider had been napping after studying abit. The boy looked towards the blue while Sleopath headbutted his side again.
"Sleopath."
Mine, Zelith calls. Come.
Both riders landed in the bowl with a yawn from one of them and a smile from the other. Kaila climbed down and smiled, glad to see T'rel better. R'mera was frowning as he glanced at his sister. He was not used to seeing her with Maith still. However he trusted Maith to keep his sister safe.
R'mera sighed and nodded, "All right"
R'yn hated waking up early; but even more than that, he hated being torn from his breakfast. He had woken early due to a particularly cruel prank played on him by his dragon. Gereth had woken and informed him that T'rel and Zelith were calling everyone to the bowl for a meeting--a candlemark early. When they had gotten there, the boy had found no one present. And in his groggy state, hadn't found it in him to scold the bronze.
He'd simply made his way to the kitchens in order to get some breakfast--and now Zelith really was calling. Honestly, couldn't T'rel have the meetings later in the day? R'yn suspected the Weyrleader had had trouble sleeping. He had a nasty habit of tending to wake other people up when he couldn't sleep.
Do not be so upset, mine, Gereth cheerfully attempted to make his rider feel better. It was funny. Zelith's must call us for a reason, Mine. He is your friend. Why would he wake you for no reason, other than to wake you? Calith's will be there. That tended to wake R'yn up, and today was no exception. R'yn stretched and instructed Gereth to take them to the bowl. A straight flight, he reminded the bronze. He wasn't ready for the cold of between.
As they arrived, Gereth hovered. He had always been one to show off. The great bronze touched down at last, studying those around him.
"What happened, T'rel?" R'yn teased. "I thought we'd be gathering around noon." The younger bronzerider was referencing to the Weyrleader's tendency to sleep in.
