The Death Hunter

User Image
Name: Minerva Di Paola
Nicknames: Min/Minnie, Vee
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Ethnicity: Italian/American
Sexual Orientation: Straight

Minerva is...

Friendly - She is a welcoming sort, willing to offer kindness where kindness will be returned.

Brave - Minnie is not afraid to step out into the unknown.

Diligent - A fine listener and careful executioner when tasks are given and needing results.

Quiet - The type that speaks when spoken to. It's easier to understand others when she is not busy talking herself.

Organized to A Fault - Tends to execute tasks in the order that they are given, or an order in which she has devised. Rarely strays from the set-out plan and may find it difficult to do so when she has to.

Compassionate - The livelihood of man is important to Minerva; she cares about others without pause or judgement. Even those who have wronged her will receive the same amount of concern as those who she cares for dearly.

Overambitious - Nothing she will ever do will ever be good enough. Minerva pushes herself to the point of exhaustion, trying to be the best always.

Easily Disheveled - As previously stated, without a sense of organization Minnie will begin to crumble. Her resolve will no longer be set in stone as it usually is, and because of this the rest of her virtues might lose their stronghold as well.

Hobbies and Habits

Minerva enjoys studying, tea, cooking, sculpting, antique shopping, reading, coin collecting, practicing for battle.

Minerva does not have time for watching movies, or sports. Although she might consider them if forced to/asked.

Minerva's bad habits are chewing on everything she holds in her hands, fidgeting, cracking her knuckles constantly, expecting her work to compensate for the lack of a real relationship with another human being.

Physical Description: Minerva's olive skin and feline-shaped, hazel eye combo are only emphasized by her long, curling, dirty-blonde hair. She has a slightly up-turned nose and pouty lips, although they are usually kept in a straight, or slightly down-turned line. She averages a height of 5'1 and a weight 110 lbs, as well as an average bust and hip size; although the slight curve of her waist hints toward a factionally larger butt to boob ratio. Physically Minerva is toned well enough to fight for hours, but is by no means a muscular woman.

The Weapon

User ImageName: Blythe
Type of Weapon: Dual Sickles
Former species of weapon: Zombie
Gender: Female
Unsummoned: Two, coiling golden arm bands with a green gem on each.

Blythe is...

Confident - Blythe shares a confidence in herself just as she does a confidence in others. It dances the fine line of haughtiness from time to time, but is reigned in by Minerva for the most part.

Tolerant/Patient - Of both others and her surroundings to an almost unheard of level.

Loyal - This is mostly to Minerva. Their relationship is hardly ever strained..hardly...yeah.

Honest - There would be no hair on her tongue if Blythe had one. Can be brutal about things at times.

Focused - Has no problem going from calm to rigidly alert, and will devote all of her attention to whatever task is at hand.

Distrusting - Being tolerant of another's company does not mean she has to trust them. And most of the time, unless they prove themselves worthy, Blythe will not.

Overprotective - This is of mostly Minni. She watches over Minerva's actions carefully and will b***h to no end until Minni resigns from whatever she is doing to accommodate Blythe.

Obsessed - With her hunter.

Detail

Category: Death - The "intelligence" operation, in charge of gathering information and maintaining the network of Hunters. They gather the information prior to a mission.

Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter?

Being just another blue-collared human being, working insane hours at a local diner whose costumers were lewd and without morality simply was not enough for Minerva. There was also the onslaught of visions and sensations that have plagued her since childhood, leading Minerva to believe that she was meant to do something far greater than what her normal, earthly life entailed.

Weapon Ability: Gorestrome (Gambler's Chance) - Minerva closes the distance for a close-ranged attack, using Blythe's sharp 'C' curve to hook and then rip at whatever body part she can. This attack only leaves deep gashes and will not tear a limb off unless it is ICly desired/allowed.

History

Minerva

Part 1: Ceramic bowls and glass cups clattering together had become the familiar tune of every morning. Instead of a clock alarm, the echo of rustling feet in and out of the diner doorway played in her head and forced her eyes to open. It wasn’t even dawn yet and the freshly turned twenty-year-old was up and banging on frozen pipes, desperate for a hot shower.

The earliest to rise, this long haired, hazel eyed waitress slipped her key into the lock and turned until the metal of each scrapped together and let out a low cry—protesting the length in which the girl kept it in place. It was another very familiar sound that came with every morning…and to it, she let out a sigh, released the hold and slipped in through the diner’s back door.

It was only at this time that Minerva could breathe easily. Not a soul lingered out on the streets; a rare and beautiful sight that happened only twice in one day. And within the building itself, she guessed a rat or two were her only chances of company. But that was fine by the girl, who gave the dining room a once over before throwing her mess of curls into an even messier ponytail. Despite the calmness and serenity that was the Brooklyn Street at five AM, and despite her lack of apparent delight for the days upcoming events, Minnie began the process of opening shop.

“Min-pin, girl, you’re too cute not to have a smile on that face!” A boisterous voice called over the counter as Minerva approached. The woman leaned over and whispered playfully, “You’d get better tips if you showed a little teeth. A bit more leg might help as well!” Before chuckling out loud.

“Rosanne, I’m not that kind of girl.” Was the only reply she gave as three hot plates were piled onto her arms, a touch of pink filling her cheeks as an older gentleman raised an eyebrow suggestively. Rosanne, the stoutly woman with fire-red hair, bright blue eyes and plump red lips, waved dismissively. “Fine, go make your seventy cent tips I don’t give a—“ Pausing to exaggerate a calming motion. “…hoot. Those go to six, hon! Move quickly before they get cold! ” Flashing the nosy gentleman a wink and a finger wave, the woman turned back to the kitchen and began shouting at the cooks in the back.

Minerva didn’t exactly fit in with the group of workers at “SiSi’s Place”. Most were flamboyant, giddy and frankly all over the place. They threw themselves at men for an extra buck and somehow still managed to get along with the women who also occupied the tables. The boys seemed to do the same with the opposite genders just as successfully; or maybe even more successfully, it was hard to tell. But they were all smiles, and that was perhaps the biggest difference between Minerva and the others. They enjoyed the attention that their looks, the only attribute that they were proud of, gained them. The owner of the shop, that pushy old red-head, never seemed to get enough of mentioning it.

“You’re hot.” Rosanne blurted out unexpectedly late that night, just after the last customer had left. “Excuse me?” Minerva relied in a bashful tone. “I said you’re hot. You’ve got that exotic look to you…what did you say you were again? Pilipino?”

“Italian.” Minnie again replied, this time a bit less uninterested than the last. Rosanne knew exactly what she was.

“Oh that’s right. The darkest Italian I’ve ever seen! You’ve got to be mixed with some kind of Spanish though, I would bet on it! Anyway, like I was saying you’re a good-looking girl… You’re a LUCKY girl! And do you know what good-looking girls could make in this industry? What LUCKY girls could make?” Minerva rolled her eyes and leaned forward in her work, a wet rag scrubbing at an already clean table. This was a conversation they had shared in several times before. At least once a month, to be precise, and the woman had to throw it in Minerva’s face each and every time as if it were the first. Rosanne continued, only slightly annoyed by being ignored. “I don’t know why you fight it or why you fight me? I did your mother a favor by giving you this job. ALLLL the other girls here do great work. Even my boys…they make good money for themselves and they make ME money. I just don’t get it.” She turned in her seat at one of the booths and waved over a bubbly blond gal to her side. “Jenny, my little angle.” Roseanne stroked the pale white shoulder of the waitress as she settled in beside her, and with the other hand she propped her cheek up against the table. In response, Jenny giggled and bounced on her toes. “Yes Rosie? Can I head out soon?”

“Yes my peach. Minerva, Min look! A smile! Look at those pretty white teeth of hers! And look at how giddy she is! She is all friendly and welcoming! Mind you a bit dense, but she looks good. And do you know what she has that you don’t? She has a clientele. Customers come to eat here not only because the food is amazing, but also because little miss Jennifer Hunt works here and will take care of them. Isn’t that right Jenny?”

To this, Jennifer squirmed uncomfortably for a moment, but soon nodded and smiled wide. It looked as if the idea of her taking ‘care’ of a ‘clientele’ sparked a realization of some sort, but the epiphany faded fast. Dumber than the a box of rocks. “Yeah, definitely. I make, like, three hundred bucks a night Minerva…or something like that. The guys give the best tips.”

“See?? You could be making that kind of money! You could be helping your mom out with rent more if you just TRIED. All you have to do is try, Min.” Suddenly Rosanne was up on her feet, gently shooing Jennifer one-way while stepping toward Minerva in the other. A heavy hand reached for her shoulder and pulled at it. Minnie begrudgingly obliged, spinning around and putting her own hands on each hip, keeping her eyes to the ground. There was a sigh from both parties. “Look, Min-pin, you’ve got to try harder to make more money. You’ll never be able to get out of this town without putting in the effort. A few flirty remarks here, a wink there, a hand touch every now and again…Minnie it’s the trick of the trade. I’ve been doing this all my life, I know what I’m talking about…People do what they have to do to get by, no matter WHAT. You’ll end up being a good-for-nothing for the rest of your life at this rate, and what would your momma think of that?” Tilting the girls face toward hers, Rosanne smiled in that genuine way that usually brought tears to the Minnie’s eyes. She could speak a million damaging words, but that smile could melt any icy heart. “You know I love you. I can’t fire you, so I’ve got to try and teach you how to grow. I’m helping you, and I’m helping your mom.”

For a moment it seemed that Minerva was contemplating everything. Her hazel eyes flicked to the side, a tear streaming down her cheek only to be caught by the thick thumb of her boss…but after a while it became clear that not only was Minerva done listening, but she was also done working. The girl pulled herself out of Rosanne’s grip in a jerky motion and wiped at her face with one arm. “You run this place like a strip joint, not a diner. You only hire girls with huge boobs and tiny waists and expect them to act like sluts just so people keep coming back.” She tried to keep her voice low, but the rage within swelled and the growing frustration filled the room unexpectedly. Rosanne took a step back and frowned, but Minerva continued. “I’m not going to be that girl. I will never be that girl! And if you don’t like it then maybe you SHOULD fire me.” Minerva gave Rosanne a hard glare, long enough to catch the hurt in her boss’s eyes before walking past her quickly. The rag was tossed into the sink and the apron she wore was untied and left on a chair near the exit. She grabbed her coat and her purse, pushed past Steve and Martin, Jewel and Jennifer only to reach the door and to look over her shoulder. “I don’t fit in here and you know it. You all know it. This isn’t what I want to do for the rest of my life!” Charging out into the cold, Minerva once again faced a silent night. Although this time, it was not so welcomed.

Part 2: Frigid would not even begin to describe the air just outside of SiSi’s Place. The diner’s lights flickered against the back of her large coat and reflected against the white of the ground she walked, staying lit just long enough for Minerva to see the silhouette of Rosanne alone in the snow. She glanced just as she turned the corner onto a lonely road, headed east toward her bus stop, and briefly lifted a hand to wave toward the shadowy figure. It was a peace offering despite the rough night, but it might have gone unnoticed considering the distance that separated them.

There was a wind that would stir up every few minutes, a sound so cold and threatening that its echo’s were like howling wolves in the black winter night. That alone would have numbed her entire body, kept her still in the darkness constantly looking over her shoulder in fright…but when coupled with the thoughts on her mind, she would hardly be able to stand still long enough to truly feel the chill.

Rosanne was an old friend of her mothers. Not the best of women to associate yourself with, but a trustworthy individual when the bonds were tight enough. And the truth of the matter was that between her mother, Roseanne, and even herself; those bonds could not easily be broken. In a time of need, she extended a hand and gave to Minerva an opportunity that all others had denied her of. What’s more, Roseanne gave her mother peace of mind, a valuable gift that not even Minnie could bestow. The night’s events were commonplace amongst the three women, and surely there would be a phone call later that night over everything that had been said. Her mother would more than likely sit her down, again, and tell her that she needed to wise up or else she would be out of work, and they would be out of a home and on the streets. Again. It was impossible to fight with either of them, or to tell one that the other was wrong…

Blythe

The zombie life for Blythe was by no means a suitable one. She came to by the wayside, not knowing who or what she was, surviving off of pure instinct rather than the proper guidance that a guardian might have offered. The abandonment left her scarred and without purpose, and in the end it would lead to her timely death...un-death death. Living as a weapon, having been 'reborn' once again, is perhaps the greatest event to have ever happened to her. Minerva has awoken the attributes that were within Blythe all along. All of the good and the ugly--all of it. With Minnie, she feels safe and secure and oh so very certain of herself.

Being without someone for even the short time that Blythe was has encouraged the obsession she now has for Minerva; the ugliest part of her that allows jealousy and possessiveness to grow. It is a fixation that can not be shaken, and one that is fed by Minnie herself.

The Room

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Minerva's room is ALWAYS kept neat and NEVER left unlocked. The interior is mostly white with speckles of color here and there, mostly trinkets or books that she has brought along for the ride. The writing desk in her room stands against the farthest wall with a mirror on its face and is the focal point for initial entry--it is where most of her personal belongs are placed just as well. The bed is pressed against the right wall and takes up the majority of space within the room, but looks comfortable enough with Minerva's store-bought all white sheets. The room, unfortunately, does not come with a window. :'(

Comrades/Enemies

Key
√ - Acquaintance/Friendly
√ √ - Extremely friendly/Fond of
♥ - Adored/Best Friends
♥ ♥ - Affections For/Loved
± - Neutral/Uncertain
Φ - Hated

√ √ Vanessa I don't know a whole lot about her yet other than the fact that she's smart and I can't say I'm not impressed by her activity around others. A partnership is in order.

± Otto A one-track minded individual, although that's pretty much all I know. He seems difficult to handle, untrusting of others...but has taken a liking to one of the other girls in our...I don't know what to call it, group? I guess? At least he has someone to talk to.

Eva Friendly, sort of bubbly. I don't know her well enough to like her, but she's nice enough to talk to if ever there is a chance.

Deryk I can tell he's kind of eccentric. He's into games, I think? Kind of nerdy, I'll admit and childish to an extent...but not all that bad.

√ √ Bix The man with all of the answers! I'll go to him with all of my questions, that's for sure. Seems really nice and carefree.

Aleister Seems kind of unsure of himself...? Maybe? Or perhaps it was just difficult for him to adjust to everything directly after the hive room. I don't know a whole lot about him, but I wouldn't mind getting to know more. He seems like he could use a few good friends.

Ryan He hasn't said much more to me than 'hello' and 'goodbye'...and well he also said he wasn't into reunions. Seems like a nice kid.

Wilson Haven't spent enough time to know much about him, although he did earn some brownie points for making up that awkward habit. Walking backwards all of the time? So sweet.

√ √ Dakota He's a real charmer, this one. I don't take his advances too seriously, but I do appreciate the flattery.

± Petra No feelings toward her, although that's not to say I wouldn't mind a meet-and-greet of some sort.
