Hobbies: Collecting bugs Like many young boys, Nicolas loves things that girls find gross. He spends his time outside digging in the dirt for worms. He will pick up rocks and fallen branches to find ants, beetles, and other creepy crawlers. Sometimes he will even scramble up a tree, aquiring many scrapes and bruises, in an attempt to catch an elusive stick bug. When he finally gets hold of a bug or insect he seeks he has a handful of small animal
carriers that he puts the bugs in. Unfortunately, the bugs die quickly because this ten-year old doesn't have the forethought to find food for them.
Baseball: Nicolas is in a little league baseball team. He is the shortstop, standing duitifully in between second and third base in order to get control of the ball. He loves to play and will sometimes practice hitting after school by swinging at a ball his father tied to a tree with a rope. On weekends when both of his parents are home from work and there is no school, he will play with his friends, or his mother and father- Cathryn and Brian- will take him to the park and they will toss a ball around so Nic can practice his hitting, pitching, and catching.
Video games: Of course, nic is also very interested in video games. His favorites are sports games on the xbox kinect or just the xbox. After school nic will often detour to the local arcade with his friends. Although his favorite games are usually sports related, he always feels strangely drawn to Pac Man when he enters the arcade. He can spend well over an hour playing that one game and has become quite adept at it because of the practice.
Virtues: Friendly: Nicolas was raised to be social and friendly. He loves to meet new people and get to know them. This is partly because he is curious about new people. His friendliness shows every time he calls out a greeting to a passing neighbor from the branches of a tree or greets a new student at school and shows them around.
Brave: Nicolas may be covered in scrapes and bruises, but he has fun getting them. He is brave and uses that to his fun advantage. He isn't afraid to climb a tall tree or put his hand in a dark hole in search for bugs. He hasn't been afraid of the dark since he was 3 and lightning doesn't bother him one bit. His braery is also apparent when he stands against a bully picking on another kid. It doesn't matter if the bully is much bigger, this little kid appears to know no fear. When he is afraid, he hides it well from his friends and overcomes it.
Obedient: Nicolas was taught to respect his elders and he tries his hardest to do so. He does what he's told when he's told. The only time he doesn't do what he's told by an adult is when he can clearly see that the person is bad or trying to hurt someone. In those situations his bravery kicks in for better or worse. He also knows about stranger danger and isn't going to obey a stranger that wants him to get in his car.
Flaws: Curious: Nic's curiosity can often be a problem for him. He like to ask questions which can annoy people who don't want to answer or pay attention to him right then. His curiosity combined with his bravery also causes him to seek out adventure which sometimes leads him to dangerous situations like tyring to cross an old condemed bridge and falling in a river when the bridge breaks. His curiosity also leads him to knowing things he shouldn't because of listening at doors, but none of this ever stops Nicolas!
Too Independant: Ever wish your kid would just leave you alone and stop being so needy? Well, Nicolas' parents wish he would need them a little more often. Nic is very independant for a 10-year old. He doesn't feel like he needs to constantly be around his parents or ask them for help. He feels perfectly capable of getting around and doing things by himself even if he really could have used a little help. This leads to him wandering around town withought his parents, and climbing on counters to get things down on his own. His parents don't like it, but they are slowly getting used to his independance.
Impressionable: This kid is the reason commercials and tv shows have to put a line at the bottom of the screen saying "Do not try this at home". Despite being generally well behaved, Nic is still a little boy and when he sees something cool on tv or in a movie he will often try to mimic it. He has had his cowboy phase, his ninja phase, and race car phase all because of tv and -don't tell anyone, it's a secret- but he still believes in Santa Clause.
