The door was not usually locked, and Mandy usually had full access to deliver meals when convenient. Since Barth had gotten back from the trip however, the door had been locked.
There was, fortunately for Mandy, a sort of mechanical whirring noise at all the knocking, and a click and stutter like something malfunctioning. The door opened, jerkily, impeded by a net of thorns.
The thorns rolled slightly back.
Barth, somewhere in the room, was still sleeping.

Mandy gave the door a look of trepidation at the sounds it made. It wasn't going to slam shut on her was it...?
Stepping through she nodded to the thorns in thanks before carefully edging around the perimeter if the room, making her way towards the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen she found herself with a bit more room and happily went about the rest of her job, pulling out some non-perishables to add to Barth's bowl whilst eating her own. Done making up the meal she pulled out some cling film and covered it, he'd probably have to reheat it again once he got up.
Washing up her own bowl she glanced around the kitchen, eyes finally settling on the uninstalled fridge. She turned off the tap and stood there staring.
With a sigh she glanced back towards where the sleeping demon was and then at the clock.
She might have time if she could get him up...
Rolling her eyes she walked back towards the edge of the thorn barrier, "Barth."

"Mmng," came the articulate response that might have been an attempt at pronouncing Mandy.

"I think it's time you installed your fridge." the words where said rather blandly for something so important.

Barth did not function at any level at 7AM, but if there was one thing that brought something coiled inside him to rapt attention, it was all things pertaining to Contracts.
His subconscious and conscious adjusted in a compromise, and his voice was strange, soft, but calm.
"What brings this on?"

"Tch, go straight for the hard questions why don’t you?" Mandy heaved a side and leaned against the wall, pondering.
It feels like it's time sounded rather lame but that was the basis of it when she first noticed her feelings about this changing...
"...I guess, it has to do with why I asked you for it in the first place..."
There was a long pause as Mandy struggled with how to phrase things.
"We're friends yeah? Good friends?" she didn’t wait for an answer before going on because if it was anything but what she expected she didn’t want to know, "Thing is... I'd not really had friends before... more friendly acquaintances. And well..."
She scrubbed at her face, grumbling a bit.
"I was insecure alright? The mark, it meant something, especially when you proposed something that would end up with you having to see me a lot."
Her voice softened for the next part, Barth would have to listen carefully to pick it up. "But now, I don’t need that reassurance ok? So, it’s time to fix your fridge and maybe later I'll still bring you over some dinner."

"Ah," said Barth.
"Yes. Good friends. The refrigerator is...mostly installed. Just need to...plug it in. You'll find it- round the back."

That was all he had to say...? Really....?
Well... it was before midday so what had she been expecting?
Though the fact it just needed plugging in and he hadn't done it or gotten it done yet... it made her smile a little. He probably wasn't going to conclude it till she asked... that was nice. Or he didn’t want to have to get his own meals yet but she liked to go with the friendship option.
Pushing off the wall she walked over to fridge and investigated, finding the plug where he said it would be. Looking for the power point she spotted it and slid the plug in, flicking the switch.
She stepped back, the fridge came on with a hum and from her stomach a wisp of smoke curled upwards before fading.
"Huh... hardly feels different to three seconds before." if Barth had been able to see her he would have noticed she was giving one of those smiles.
The small, genuinely pleased and content one.
