She'd seen the training courses. Yeah, she'd mostly been hitting up the gym to see how hard she'd failed at being a strong individual. It even felt sort of stupid for her to be doing one of these stupid runs when Nicodemus wasn't fully up to speed, to be honest. The weapon still had a dim glow in her hands when she summoned him, but at least he was starting to talk more.

Better, it seems. However, you should be careful doing these...runs..of yours, Cassandra. They might be dangerous, you know, with my own lack of stamina at the moment.

Nicodemus wasn't sure how he felt about Cass's high expectations of herself, but still, at least it was a productive use of time, if nothing else. Yes, productive use of time. Still, he wasn't sure how well the young trainee was going to do as she stepped into the portal and on into the dark tunnel beyond it.
She really hoped she didn't get herself killed right off the bat for doing this....

Cass stared wide eyed at the sight of the other side of the tunnel, looking at the massive amounts of the dark creatures that she, sadly, had never actually run into before this point. She hadn't encountered them in her original golem, so this was..wow.
Cassandra, if you hesitate in front of them, they will descend upon you. Just keep moving. Nicodemus reminded her and she nodded awkwardly, stepping into the writhing mass with the blade in one hand, the gun in the other. With that, she aimed her pistol and shot into the closest investigators of the 'visitor', scattering some away, but hitting a couple of them.

Whelp, it seemed Cassandra was a failure at keeping focus in this instance. She couldn't help but keep looking at the creatures that writhed around in the tunnel around her, looking at them as she continued to walk. A rock kicked underneath her feet and she turned her attention to it for a moment. It seemed like it was only a moment.
CASSANDRA, ATTENTION. Nicodemus shrieked in her head, but before the mist hunter looked up there were cold hands on her skin. Cold hands, dark hands, grabbing hands. They dug into her skin and pulled at her hair, yanking her down to her level. Terrible eyes came from all around, staring her down as though they were turning her into a chart of meat like in the old cartoons with the cow diagrams. In their eyes she was just food for their weak hunger and in her distraction, they had descended upon her.
Cassandra went down underneath them and was consumed by darkness.Status Wave: 2Attack Dmg: EPIC FAIL, Cass has faltered! Total Shadowlings taken out: 2 Recoveries left: 0

Attempt Two
She'd woken up in the observation deck with a Sun Hunter giving her a..somewhat disapproving look. Cass had smiled weakly at them, looked at her bandaged up arms, and then walked over to watch the next person who went through the tunnel, sighing jealously at the sight of the more capable individual who was going through it.
That was pretty nice, actually.
"He's really good at that." she commented. The watching hunter just grunted a bit, "Because that's what we do. That and only that." he explained and Cass couldn't help but feel like she'd just been jabbed at for being a Mist Hunter rather than a Sun Hunter or a Moon Hunter or anything else like that. It wasn't her fault that she just...hadn't really been categorized into anything else. Still, she took some time to watch a few of the others go through it, before she puffed out her chest, did a few testing swings of her arms, and looked at the Sun Hunter on observation;
"Can I try again?" she asked, seeming more than willing to go again. He made a face, but ushered her back into the portal again anyways. "If you fail again, you'll need to take a real break...." he noted.
Cass just hoped she wasn't taken down again for trying again so soon....

She was definitely more raring to go when she re-entered the tunnel this time. Cassandra didn't pause to stare down the shadows at the start this time, and instead entered with the pistol firing in one hand, and the blade in the other hand with a swing. She felt resistance, that was good.
That was the point.
Damn if it wasn't reminding her that she needed to work on dual-wielding muscles in her arms, this was harder than she would have liked it to be. Another rock was kicked underneath her foot as she moved to continue on, shooting another pair of shadows in the face and then slicing at another one, a more confident grin forming on her face. See? She could do this. She could totally do this. She couldn't use her charge attack yet, or possibly even soon, but if she kept going slow and steady, she'd be able to manage the entire thing, right?
Or maybe she needed to move more quickly for this. She wasn't sure.

The grin kept getting wider as Cassandra moved on through her second attempt of things. If nothing else, she was going better. Much, much better this time around. Even as she kept moving through the next wave, she sliced through all three of her targets that time, grinning like an idiot before she moved to continue on, her pace increasing to a near jog.
Don't wear yourself out, Cassandra. If you lose stamina now, you'll feel it later. He warned and Cass nodded.

She slowed her stride down just a bit underneath Nicodemus's suggestion, her arms starting to burn underneath how much movement she had to keep in them to get them swinging. But still, with every hit she felt that much better. She was doing this.
She could do this, even. That was amazing, she loved it. Oh, she definitely loved the success of not being devoured immediately upon trying this go around.
Don't get too confident, you're not home free yet. Nicodemus warned to humble the girl in her excitement. Cass just grinned even wider and kept moving on.Status Wave: 4Attack Dmg: 10 - 6 = 4 Total Shadowlings taken out: 15 Recoveries left: 0

Oh, she could see the other portal now! That was exciting!! Cassandra moved towards it when the final wave descended upon her. She frowned, leering into them and swinging the gunblade before it caught onto one of the shadows and stopped entirely. Her arm burned at the resistance from it and she was pulled down again. She growled even as they overtook her for the second time.
She would again wake up in the observation deck, only this time she would be sent back to her room to rest before she tried again. Damn, she'd been So close that time.Status Wave: 5Attack Dmg: 0 Total Shadowlings taken out: 15 Recoveries left: 0

Attempt Three
Cassandra had taken the afternoon post nearly-nommed-twice to rest, as well as the next morning. A whole twenty four hour break as far as she was concerned would work, right? She'd gotten snuggling in and even a little bit of smoochy-time, so it wasn't like she'd wasted her rest on anything.
Part of her wondered if that Sun Hunter just hadn't wanted to spend his afternoon watching a Mist Trainee get eaten repeatedly. Or something resembling eaten. She still had all her flesh. A lot of scratches and some bleeding, yes, but she hadn't actually been devoured.
So that much was good. Still, she reported in again after resting, just as she had hoped to do, looking ready and raring to go again. She could do this! She totally would do it and it would be amazing. Third time the charm, right? Oh, she hoped she was right, as again, it was into the tunnel with her.

Cass went in swinging and raring ready to go as she seemed to be on the other side of the portal, stabbing a couple of her victims of choice and shooting some bullets into another before she ran on again, grinning like a bigger idiot today than she had looked to be yesterday.

Based on her energy level after a day of rest, Cassandra kept moving at a pretty decent pace, not even pausing as she cut through another group of shadows and moved on, the grin on her face coming back.

Nicodemus wasn't actually able to say she wasn't, as it was. She was doing better in two waves that day than she'd done in almost the entirety of her second run the previous day. One of them grabbed her foot and she stumbled, nearly going down. However, a reflex in her head immediately grabbed onto her blade arm and swung down and back at her grabbed, slicing it off of her before Cass continued to run.

Okay, she could see the portal again. This was where she'd been taken out the last time, so she moved to slice through the shadows that were near her feet, the grin set on her face now as she passed through them as well.
