Character Name: Felix Farridan
Player Name: Indiglowing
Race: Human
Aspirations: Felix has a clever tongue and moves at a fast pace, sometimes a little too impulsively and taking a few too many risks. Keeping with this pace, he'd like to become a Reaper one day, hopefully rising in the ranks until he's one of the Blackhearts.
Short Biography/background: Felix comes from a middle-class family, a pleasant and loving mother and father and a little sister named Gracia. While his family leads a steady life, with a comfortably bustling clothes shop in Moonfall, from a young age (and often against his parents' wishes) Felix took to sneaking out into the city at large, finding a love of the new experiences around him and a talent in gambling and games of chance. Felix possessed some magical talent but lacked the discipline to study it, preferring to play cards, experience life in the city, and generally enjoy himself.
While Felix enjoyed the bells and whistles of magic, it was Gracia who showed the talent, devouring books on the subject and preparing to one day attend the Makai Royal Academy. While she was a much more timid soul, she often took to chasing after her brother in the city, admiring him and worshipping the ground he walked on. It's on one of these reckless trips that Gracia was attacked by a Majin, drawn out by the talent he saw in the young girl. Powerless to do anything but look for a soldier, who quickly found it to be too late, Felix promised to take up Gracia's plans for Makai Royal with his own talents, working to one day become a Reaper and take the risks needed to hunt down Majin personally.

Character Name: Ace
His real name was forgotten, lost in the shadows of time. The earliest memory he has is one involving a dusty old tavern, the stench of fermented cider and unwashed flesh, and a deck of cards, the very deck he still carries with him.
He adopted the name Ace, or rather it was given to him by the stranger he beat that day.

Race: Human... at least, that's what he thinks. But given his state of amnesia, what he thinks may or may not be very accurate.
Aspirations: Depends on the time and day of the week, or even the weather or how the stars are aligned. Frankly, he doesn't have one aspiration, he has millions. Though there is one small part of him that, no matter what, has always longed for a home, a place to belong.
Short Biography/background: He may have had a family once. You know, a mother and father, perhaps even some siblings and a pet. He may even have had a normal home and life. But if he did, it was a long time ago. So far back that he can't begin to remember what it was like.
All that he knows now is isolation, deprivation, loneliness. The only life he can remember clearly, is the life of a street urchin, a gypsy, wandering from place to place and earning meals or a night's lodging through his skill with the cards that are his one treasured possession.
When engaged in games of chance, he is charismatic, confident, cocky even. Games of chance are his passion, the way he managed to survive alone and constantly on the go. They are the only thing he has to fall back on, the one way he can relate to others with any comfort. Be it card games or tossing dice, he seems to have the devil's own luck.
When not engaged in games of chance, Ace is insecure, quiet, guarded. Leaving others to see him as distant and aloof at best- arrogant, condescending and a*****e-ish at worst. Having known no real companionship or bonds with any other creature, it is really no wonder.
Though if anyone managed to stick around and break through his tough-guy shell, they would find a timid, caring friend who, along with an interesting sense of humor and absolute practicality, is loyal and trusting, almost to a fault.

Character Name: Faust Heart ("Faustus" Roman for lucky)
Player Name: Akira-Kisho
Race: Majin
Aspirations: To be successful enough in life to have enough, but also have the ability to give to others what they need. If in the event he scored it big, he'd love to open a homeless shelter and make sure no one went hungry. On a selfish note, he'd like to be a world champion at Blackjack.
Short Biography/background:
Personality:
Faust has a strong sense of duty. He is best described as an old soul trapped in a youthful body. He is very much addicted to the many games of cards, and he plays them regularly. He feels like he is some what of a trickster, as he has an ability to get glimpses of the other sides of cards for a mere second, which he doesn't exactly enjoy, but he uses it when it is needed. He's got a good sense of what is best for himself and others, and will only "cheat," as he likes to call it, when it is deemed necessary, like when his family has no money to put food on the table and the prize is cash. When he's at a game table, he's confident, sly and creative. When he's at home or with others, he is just himself, which is a boy who is old enough to know what is wanted, and what is needed, and will go above and beyond for those who are in need. Just like any boy, he is full of hormones that confuse and sometimes annoy him, and has a battling self esteem issue like the ocean in a storm.
Background:
Growing up, Faust's family didn't have much money. They got by with what they had, but it was always a struggle. Faust was given a deck of cards by his father, saying that these may one day be the road in which he'd leave this life behind to find a new and better one. Faust would stay up late playing solitaire by himself, and then playing cards with his father. The more he played, the better he got. He became completely and utterly obsessed with his deck of cards. In his obsession, he learned about competitions and thus he began entering them. If there were cash prizes, he'd bring the money back to his family and was able to start putting food on the table. He continued entering competitions with fast pace games, and began to realize that he could see through the cards, if only for a moment. Completely mortified that he was right each time, he dropped out of competitions. He never wanted to cheat like that. Weeks had passed and his family was struggling to keep food on the table once again. Faust, completely ashamed of his "gift", hadn't said a word to his parents about this ability. He felt conflicted. He knew his parents needed the money, and he sure could use it too. They weren't living lavishly with his earnings, but he was able to at least put meals on the table. When he couldn't stand it any longer. He revealed his secret to his mother. She wasn't surprised, for her gift was similar, but she had cast it aside when he was born. She told him that it was okay when it was needed, and only when needed, to use his abilities. So he went back to competitions again, winning with the added use of his ability only when needed, and doing his best to deactivate it when it wasn't.

Race: Majin
Aspirations: If you ask his grandmother, Julian has set his sights to become a Reaper. However, Julian won’t hesitate to drop everything and become a famous magician performing in Lumena Castle Town.
Short Biography/background: Julian spent the first 17 years of his life anxiously awaiting the moment when he would leave the humble town of Clarus Arbor to begin his journey for Makai Royal Academy. After two years of rigorous schooling, Julian is working his way towards Lumena Castle Town. Life with his grandmother Margret was pleasant enough, but the sparkling lake and endless fields were nothing compared to the grandeur promised by Lumena Castle Town. While the town pub offered Julian the opportunity to practice his card tricks and other various acts of magic and trickery, the crowd of simpleton Hunter-Witches couldn’t grasp the mystique of his act. In fact, they dismissed Julian as a foolish child chasing a worthless dream. But not a single taunt could tarnish Julian’s dream of one day performing his act in front of the Royal Family. Julian’s grandmother finally agreed to let her grandson leave the quaint safety of Clarus Arbor with the promise that he would study to become a Reaper. Julian’s heart ached knowing he lied to the person who devoted her life to raise him, but only the excitement of card tricks and Lumena Castle Town reflect in his eyes.
Julian only knows his parents Floyd and Amelia from the stories his grandmother tells him. According to Margret, Julian’s parents were both celebrated Reapers who battled Witch Eaters in the Poena Rivus Castle Ruins. However, as Margret tells it, one day Floyd and Amelia were slain as they righteously fought to protect the human race. Unbeknownst to Julian and his grandmother, Floyd and Amelia were not Reapers, nor were they even human. On the contrary, Julian’s parents were Witch Eaters whose ravenous thirst for magic forced them to abandon all hope of living among humans for the loneliness of the Poean Rivus Castle Ruins. It was here they birthed their son, who was immediately passed to Amelia’s mother in the hopes he might escape their tortured fate and be a human. Unfortunately, Julian is not a human, but a Majin like his parents. But for now he remains blissfully unaware of the soul that will one day feverishly yearn for the taste of magic, wreaking havoc on his life. In fact, Julian has begun to feel quite odd lately…
Julian is an easy going boy who never takes anything but his card tricks seriously. Much to the disappointment of his grandmother, Julian doesn’t feel the drive to avenge his parents and become a Reaper. Instead, Julian’s a hopeless trickster who loves nothing more than to amaze, confound, and sometimes annoy others. He earns to be the center of attention in any group setting and flourishes when all eyes are on him. Julian is gifted with a steadfast confidence that can sometimes be interpreted as cockiness.

Character Name: Ezio

Race: Human or Majin? Human
Aspirations: To become an Ars Lilium and help those that are less fortunate. And to continue learning and discovering new tricks to use with his cards.
Short Biography/background: Ezio was born to a family of "street performers". By that, I mean he was born a con and a grifter. He was taught from an early age how to misdirect people, slight of hand tricks to pocket small objects, pickpocketing, and even "street magic" to wow the audience as others of his family borrowed others money and valuables. His family rarely kept more than they needed to survive, but instead used their gains from the wealthy to help others in need.
Ezio's favorite slight of hand trick was dealing with his special deck of cards. He had learned to manipulate that deck so that he always knew what was coming, and used it to his advantage. He lived with those cards, learned every aspect of them, until he could read them forwards and backwards. But the most amazing trick, was what made the deck so special to begin with, he could use them as a weapon. they were not normal cards, but instead made with a razor edge, and a stiffness that allowed for throwing tricks as well.
It wasn't until he was older that Ezio learned he was different from his family. They all knew "magic", the sleight of hand and the street illusions that was their lifeblood. He however, learned that he had more. He could sense the emotions of people, tell their thoughts, and pick out when someone was lying, when a towns guards were laying a trap, and when someone was truly in need. As he aged, this ability got stronger, until he learned that what he had was a form of magic. He was sent away to the Academy, where he was able to hone this magic. Yet he was never able to quite leave his performing days behind. He was the perfect gentleman, a dashing figure during the day. But at night, his sticky fingers, and his desire for justice for those in need, would lead him to continue his families way.
After he graduated, he was not only able to sense the emotions of people, but also of animals and even the nature around him. With such an ability though, he had to be careful with how much he allowed to flow into his mind or else risk the possibility of being overwhelmed with all of the thoughts. If that were to happen, he could end up lost in a coma until someone could help block out the thoughts and wake him from his slumber.

Character Name: Kaivieth Viscian
Player Name: Of The Epidemic
Race: Human
Aspirations: Kaiv, at this point, doesn’t have any idea. He aspires to aspire to things. His hobbies are changing almost every day, and as there isn’t one particular area that deals directly in chance, he isn’t sure what to go for. As of right now he feels he has enough time to browse a little more before finally settling on what he wants to be.
Short Biography/background: Kaiv has, from a young age, been obsessed with chance, luck and risk. His mother and father couldn’t quite grasp why. They themselves had never been that interested in such an… odd thing. As Kaiv said, they never wanted to break free of the mold. He is constantly looking for a path not everyone else has taken. He loves the chance of it. If he takes the path everyone else has he knows the general outcome, but if he takes a brand new path, one off the wall, he has no idea and it’s a chance and he might fail, but if he is lucky he will make it through. He loves being risky and sometimes that gets him in danger, but it’s a thrill to him. He has more outrageous luck than anyone he personally knows. This could be just because he takes more off the wall chances than anyone else, but that is neither here nor there.
He got started on this by an old reaper that used to live near him. The man was slowly losing his mind and had many odds and ends around his house from his many travels and encounters. He was always telling Kaiv about his adventures. What happened on them and how on so many occasions there was a chance in hell of him getting out, and always they would play a game of cards while they talked. The old man was obsessed with cards, and there were some occasions where Kaiv would actually beat him. This just drove it home even more, that there was a chance he could even beat the highly skilled old man. The old man called it luck, and while Kaiv partially agreed with him it was also a chance draw. It was from these first feelings and wins that he grew so obsessed. On the day he entered the institute, the old reaper gave him the deck of cards that had ‘helped’ him to win so many times; telling Kaiv that it would be best if he had the deck of cards since he had so much more luck, and he himself was getting quite old.
Kaiv has gone full force ever since, challenging himself to do some very off the wall things. He loves the risk, the chance he might fail and the luck that seems to get him through.

Character Name: Dirge Crow

Aspirations: To protect home, the shrine in which he was raised and to be everything the priest saw in him.
Short Biography/background:
Dirge grew up alone, living in boxes or abandoned houses. He learned, from an early age, that to survive alone you had to only of yourself. Local authorities knew him simply as 'the Trickster'. By day he would con ant trick people out of their money, or any valuables they had on their person, to sell or trade for food. At night he'd wander alone until sunrise or hide away, trying to simply keep warm.
One day, at the age of 9, a crow stole a bit of food from him and he chased it onto the shrines property. He attempted to climb the tree it flew into, but fell. A priest, who had been watching him, laughed and approached him. The priest aloud him him to stay on the grounds, seeing 'something great' in him. He also gave the boy his name. Dirge. He taught Dirge everything he knew and Dirge found he had a knack for magic and an annoying sense of humor, visitors didn't seem to appreciate. But the priest always laughed. And for a while Dirge felt at home.
When Dirge was 16 the priest grew ill and passed away. Dirge was sent to the academy to continue his study of magic. He vowed to one day return and protect the shrine, the home he had grown to love. While attending the academy Dirge learned he could combined his love of trickery with his magic. He uses an old deck of cards for attacking and just plain out entertainment.
