It had been Jericho who had given him the idea in the first place. Back in that horrible green recovery tent the dragon had suggested, in not so many words, that violence therapy might be an effective way to push thoughts of his trip to the haunted house out of his mind. West agreed. The problem was that no one really wanted to spar after all they'd been through. It was how the demon found himself sitting outside the gym in the middle of the afternoon with a hastily written sign propped in front of him.
FIGHT ME
Please.
The please wasn't actually there, but it was definitely implied.

The area around the gym seemed to be quiet, even though it was finally open once more. Then again, Jericho couldn't really blame people. For awhile it was used up by the medical tents, and even then.. it was sort of a reminder that Red wasn't around any more. There were also a number of people who needed a fair amount of recovery as well.
But, when he saw a familiar red head sitting outside with a sign as he walked on by, he couldn't help but feel amused. Grinning, the dragon moved to walk up to the demon.
"That's right. I owe you some punches don't I?" he smirked. It was a little ambiguous if he meant to receive or to give punches. He probably meant both really.

He looked up at the sound of a familiar voice, practically leaping to his feet when he saw who it was. Realizing that it wouldn't do to appear too exuberant, West coughed into his hand and nodded.
"You do. It'sa good thing I'm 'ere then." This was perfect. Without waiting for a reply, he kicked his sign down flat to keep it from blowing away or attracting unwanted attention and headed inside.
Thankfully, the gym hadn't been particularly recognizable while it had been packed full of tents or he might have felt a little strange. It was back to normal now, bleachers in place and the weird FEAR shield that doubled as both pool cover and floor visible again. West strolled further into the room, taking a deep breath and turning to face his opponent.

Jericho raised a brow at West but just dismissed the fact that he practically jumped up to his feet upon seeing him. Nodding, he just followed the other guy into the gym, taking a moment to loosen himself up for a brawl. The dragon hadn't particularly fought the rage demon before, but he had little doubt that the other was a talented fighter.
This should be good.
"Alright. Let's do this." he smirked.

Once the dragon felt that he was ready, he went ahead and charged towards West with a devious look in his eyes. It had been awhile since he could even exercise due to his leg being out for some time, so he was pretty eager to get out a bit of aggression.
It was perfect that West was more or less looking to do the same.
As Jericho drew near, he curled up his hand into a fist and launched it out for the demon's face.

Even though he had plenty of warning after Jericho spoke, West still managed to catch the other boil's fist with his chin. His head snapped to the side as he followed the punch through, and he swung his own fist forward in response, but only managed to graze the other boil's side. Why was everyone so much quicker than he was?
"Good start," he muttered, rubbing his fingers once across his jaw. Next time he would be ready.

Jericho had just managed to move back to avoid getting hit with the bulk of West's counter attack. Feeling the fist graze against his side, he paused for the moment, grinning.
"Heh. There'll be more where that came from too!" he called out before moving in to try and slam his fist into the other boy's gut. He didn't connect quite as hard as he would have liked, but he was just getting warmed up anyway.

West felt better already (and slow, but he tried not to think about that). He grinned as well, taking the dragon's punch in stride.
He didn't reply, at least not verbally. Instead, West lashed out, aiming for Jericho's face. The punch wasn't Halloween-shattering, but at least it was better than his last attempt.

The blow caught him in the side of the temple, which was enough to mess with his senses if even briefly. It was a fairly solid hit, and it was enough to make his follow up hit to go a little wide, but it'd take more than that to wear down the dragon.

There. West had never been one to really think in terms of strategy or openings, but he could sense one when he saw it. Immediately following Jericho's miss, West took a couple of steps back, tensing his hand at his side. The last time he had called on this ability it had failed him, dealing no damage to the creature that had once been Red while simultaneously hitting him harder than it ever had. It had helped weaken him to the point where his foe could kill him, and was therefore partially responsible for sending him to that... place. Even so, all of these concerns were barely a blip on his radar, and for that, West was grateful. His fist began to glow a moment after he clenched it, and as West raised it and lunged for his opponent, a joyous grin spread across his face as he felt his fist and his FEAR slam into the other boil.
His amplified punch still hurt when it rebounded, in fact, it stung as much as if not more than it had right before he died, but as West leaned forward and coughed, bracing his hands on his thighs, he felt better than he had since that moment. His punch had connected, it had hurt, and now he had left himself wide open for a counter attack. Oh well.

The next thing Jericho felt was a REALLY HARD PUNCH. Letting out a grunt, he double backed. That felt like FEAR had been infused with the strike. Either that or West really had one hell of a right arm. The dragon decided that it was more of the former.
Stepping back a little further, he pointed up to the sky, where a firey meteor in the shape of a twenty sided die formed. When he launched it down.. it only ended up hitting him in the back of the head.
"Tiamat's s**t!" he cried out while clutching his head.
The dice rolled onto the ground, before coming to a stop.
1 - CRITICAL FAILURE
The dice gods did not smile upon the dragon that day.

When West caught his breath again and looked up, the first thing he saw was Jericho poised with his finger pointed upward. He was about to ask what in the hell was going on when a bright, fiery glow coalesced high behind the other boil. Oh. Well, that was flashy. Why weren't his FEAR abilities flashy? West watched with an almost inappropriate level of detached calm as the die -- was it a die? yes it was -- took on a dangerously solid cast and sped toward the ground... toward him. Oh, no, wait. West's features broadcast his genuine surprise when the meteor whacked Jericho in the skull, leaving the demon himself unscathed. He stood up straighter, looking anywhere but at the dragon. He was suddenly very glad that things had been so chaotic when his own FEAR had turned on him, even though it had resulted in his death. It seemed when an ability failed it could be... kind of embarrassing. "Hey, uh, y'all right?" he asked, finally glancing at Jericho before looking down at his shoes then back up again. Normally, he wouldn't have cared, but this was Jericho.

Wincing, Jericho rubbed the back of his head gingerly. The attack had left him a little dazed, but he didn't end up cracking his own skull open or anything like that. The die from his FEAR had dissipated by this point, leaving no trace of it having been there in the first place.
Hearing West ask him if he was alright, he glanced up and nodded slowly.
"Uh yeah. Nothing too serious.. just a headache right now," the dragon groaned. He was going to have to try and do something about that FEAR of his. Lately it seemed to be liking to deal more damage to himself than anything else. That wasn't a very useful attack.
"Just.. gimme a moment," he murmured.
Eventually, he lowered his hands from his head, but it was still throbbing from the impact.
"We're definitely going to need a rematch sometime later.. when my head isn't killing me."
He had been doing fine! Up until the part where he took himself out.

"Sure," West replied, trying to keep any distinguishable emotions out of his voice. "Another time."
This had been a lot of fun. His first FEAR fight with a Knob and he had... won?... he guessed? Either way, he had taken a pretty big step toward something when he had used his newfound ability again. As far as getting over his feelings about Red and the void, well, he probably wasn't done with that sign. Speaking of his sign...
"Y'good?" he asked, poking his thumb back over his shoulder. "I'ma go back out... there." Maybe if he sat around for a while, another punchable student would wander by.

Jericho was definitely disappointed in his loss here, though he felt pretty good about how it had started off. Later on some time, he was definitely going to need to get into another round of fisticuffs against West. Hopefully that time he won't end up taking himself out.
"Yeah I'm good. See ya around then. And uh.. have fun with your next fight," the dragon said before making his way on out.
A good meal sounded nice right about now. That'd help get rid of this headache that fight had left him. Yes, that was a pretty excellent plan indeed.
