Katarina was wearing a rather plain dress today as she sat down on a log near the water. The Fjord was beautiful, although the light sprinkle was bothersome. Still, other than that one problem, everything was just as she liked. She watched some of the others at work with their mokai and felt envious of them. She wanted one but money was tight, it was hard enough to be a woman in society without a man in her life to bring home money and looking for work herself was somewhat strenuous. However being a midwife was enjoyable.
If she could own a mokai that'd be great. Maybe just a companion, but she wouldn't mind having a pearl diver and if she had to, she'd own a fighter. Though she wasn't to sure about those culls, although sweet the ones she had seen were skiddish and mean. Not exactly her type of pet, then again so were fighters, not skiddish though.
The drizzle was at least letting up a little. "Not as dreary now."

"Alright, looks like the worst is over." Castiel chuckled softly from beneath the dock as the last of the showers passed leaving behind a light mist. The sun was shining again now that the clouds had drifted on to other parts of the island and it seemed almost as if the rain had never been if not for the hard, damp sand that stretched for miles. Luckily, it seemed only to have coated the surface and as soon as the pair ventured out from cover their sinking steps stirred the looser, dry sand underneath. "Talk about bad timing though, seems like the rain's got a tendency of following us, doesn't it?"
Warwick sneezed in agreement while jogging at his human's side. How could he forget the way they had first met and the storm that had left the street empty that day? Well, empty of everyone but Castiel and Warwick. What a pair they made.
With a flick of his slender tail the dark bolt of fur surged for the surf happily chasing the silvery flashes beneath the water's surface he now knew were fish. Warwick didn't even notice the human girl he whipped by, splashing into the ocean with watery crash.

The splash of water caught her in a moment of bliss and that turned into a terrified shriek as she stood up, soaked. Not that she was terrible angry at the cull who blatantly passed her up and sprayed the water at her. She was going to get herself wet in the water herself eventually, she just didn't believe it was to be that soon. Sputtering out some water the woman laughed.
She could see a somewhat flustered male coming towards her. "Is he yours?" She asked with a grin and a gentle voice.
The brown mokai seemed to be having fun and she didn't want to get him into to much trouble even with the water dripping from her mahogany tresses. Her light gray-brown eyes were soft and gentle as she turned to the male. He was definitely cute.

Warwick may not have been paying attention, but Castiel took note of the poor bystander who was suddenly doused with a wince. A sheepish grin quick to follow as the blonde strolled closer to where the water met the shore, approaching cautiously. He'd been receiving a wide array of reactions from commoners and out of towner's like himself when it came to his new companion. Admittedly, it'd left Castiel a bit gun shy when dealing with strangers,he never could tell when a stranger was about to go off on him.
Considering Warwick's mild-mannered demeanor he didn't really see much reason for the malice that occasionally directed at his cull. "Aaah.. yea. Sorry about that miss."
Castiel managed to apologize with an awkward grin, wringing the back of his neck. "This is our first trip out of town. He's pretty excited about it."
A nod of his shaggy head gestured towards the ocean, encouraging her to take note of the Mokai trying to pounce on the fish that swam by tauntingly." Still.."
His gaze returned, smile widening humorously. She wasn't the first to be soaked by Warwick's zealousness, though thankfully his clothes were mostly dry after a morning of wandering up and down the coastline. "I hope he didn't get you too bad."

She chuckled, causing her wet hair to bounce and bob. "I was already wet sitting out there in the rain. He mostly startled me is all." Holding out a hand like any male to another in a sign of good faith, "Katarina. Katarina Mechova. He's beautiful by the way. I don't have one myself, but maybe someday I'll have enough to pay for one of these guys. I've got my preferences, but I won't be picky."
The gentle woman looked at Warwick, "What's his name? I can see that he's a cull, but maybe a bit more food would be good for him. Sorry to be presumptuous." She pulled out a coin purse, though this one looked quite beaten. "I have some treats for him. I keep them around for any of the mokai I meet."
Oh how she wanted one of these cuties.

Admittedly caught off guard by the gesture Castiel's head tilted to one side in response to the hand that was offered to him in friendship--or at least to assure there were no hard feelings. She wasn't like the lace glove clad aristocratic ladies of the continent, that much was for certain. Still it was nice to meet a welcoming face on the island, extending his own hand to accept the greeting with calloused fingertips. "Oh! Yea... Castiel Hathaway. Sorry for the scare. He doesn't mean any harm. At least.. not so far as I can tell anyway."
Warwick had finally stalled his excitement long enough to notice the woman with his owner. The tides gently swayed his body as they swept across his legs, not that he noticed. Instead his ears pricked, head lifting attentively as he caught one of the sidelong glances Castiel gave his way. What was he standing around over there for anyway? Hey! Come on! The water's gonna get cold!
Grinning humorously at the urgency of his companion's barking Cas slapped his thigh instead, calling the Mokai to him. "Beautiful eh? That's a new one to me, but I'm sure he appreciates the compliment. His kind doesn't seem to be too popular around here from what I've noticed."
Feeling a bit defiant the cull planted his paws in the sand and continued to bark. No. You come here!
"Huh.. that's new." Laughing at his own predicament Castiel shrugged in a wordless sort of excuse for Warwick's behavior. "He normally listens really well.. but I guess I should have expected this. Once a stray, always a stray. Probably why I like him so much."
"Mind if I sit? We've been walking all day." Nodding to the log where Katarina had previously been seated, the blonde added in an after thought, "I call him Warwick, but who knows what his name was before that. Found him a few weeks ago on the west end of Thirty-first street. He seemed pretty browbeaten."
Shifting his weight uncomfortably with the realization that she could see that the Cull was underfed Cas cleared his throat, eyes finding a washed up shell to focus on. He was doing the best he could, but being a street performer didn't exactly mean he had pockets lined with gold. Whatever food he could afford, the starving artist always shared with his new accomplice. "Ah.. yea. He came to be pretty thin. I'm working on it. If you can get him to come over, he'd probably enjoy that treat you've got."

Katarina giggled at Castiel. "Its ok. Like I said, I was already wet and some scaring is healthy for the heart don't you know?" She could see that his cull was impatient for him and giggled harder. "What an adorable boy." She stated once more. "I think he wants you to join him. I could be wrong though, it might be why he's so defiant at this moment. I'm sure he wants to get you wet too. I would suggest removing a few layers though, not to be too bold."
Though she pulled out a few more treats. "Though I would sit too with a fiery boy like that. Come here boy, I've got treats." she called out to Warwick. "Warwick. Come here Warwick."

"I'll take your word for it," Castiel clucked with a mockingly incredulous tone. A mischievous smile shadowing the shape of his mouth. Circling around the girl to reach her perch he shook his head at the way Katarina crooned at Warwick. Some guys had all the luck.
"Nah, your probably right. He's been trying to get me in there all day, and I.." Gazing down at his bare feet, trousers folded to the knee and rumpled white shirt which--with only a quarter of the buttons fastened--revealed an eye-full of his fair skin. "..Don't think I've got much more to shed."
And still be decent anyway. Castiel thought to himself, shrugging the strap off his shoulder. Laying the worn, black leather case beside the log the blonde's tall frame folded into a seated position lazily. Chuckling softly at the fact that Kat was still attempting to call his stubborn mutt, "Get over here Wick!"
Ugghh. Why didn't humans have the same stamina as a Mokai? Warwick could only wonder as he watched Castiel sit down. There was no chance of getting him in the water now. Feeling defeated the cull reluctantly sloshed through the dragging waves, treading up the beach towards the woman calling to him. He wasn't sure what she wanted, but the smell of food made his stomach rumble. All the day's running around was catching up to him.
Sitting at her feet Wick tilted his head back with a questioning gaze. Okay, I'm here.. what do you guys want?

The woman laughed, causing her mahogany tresses to bounce. Her whole body shaking with the sound. It seemed he didn't quite believe her about that. Oh well. "Well the shirt could at least stay dry." Feeling bold. She liked a little danger in her life, not a lot but enough. Though Warwick didn't respond to her, she saw him come bounding when his master called. This reminded her more and more how badly she wanted a mokai herself.
"Can you shake for me?" She asked Warwick, holding out the tasty treat. "I've got more treats if you can do a few tricks for me. I know you can't really understand me, but maybe a few of the words you'll recognize since you look so smart."
The small woman looked at Castiel, "You don't mind if I give him a few do you?"

Arching a slender brow in the brunette's direction slyly Castiel made a small sound in his throat to indicate words he was too polite to suggest out loud. I bet you'd enjoy that. Her laughter was infectious and it was nice to meet someone who seemed as carefree as he was for a change, smiling as he stretched out his legs. Heels digging into the sand.
Shake? The boys exchanged glances before Cas simply shrugged at Warwick, folding his hands behind his head. "Don't look at me."
Well you're no help. The Mokai sighed at his cavalier owner before turning an even more puzzled expression towards the human woman who had seemed to request a task of him in exchange for the treat in her hand. Shake was not something he knew. All Warwick knew--before Castiel--was the life of a defender as he was constantly put on his guard against the savage Brigadier. Parlor tricks was not something he'd had the luxury of learning.
Shifting his weight from one forepaw to the other Warwick barked at Kat impatiently. I don't know what shake is!
Despite the temptation of reaching up to grab the treat that was extended towards him, the cull sat and waited, flicking his tail against the sand. Even Cas couldn't help but notice the self control his new friend possessed, lifting his shoulders gingerly. "Be my guest.. it's been a while since we've last eaten. Not sure he knows any tricks though, you might be wasting your breath..."

Katarina laughed, a musical sound. "Stick one paw out." She instructed the cull, reaching down to grab a leg. "You'll shake then." The other hand was already reaching to give him the treat anyway. "How bout roll over." The woman stated, "Can you do that?"
Warwick looked almost like he had been doing a dance just then, bringing a gentle smile. "You better be careful Castiel. I may end up stealing Warwick." Her grin getting wider, "I'm kidding."
The sun seemed to have traveled quite a distance since the three had first met. Clothes seemed to be mostly dry now, no longer clinging to her skin. Maybe this meant it was almost time to head home. "I believe it might be time for me to leave. Still have things to do at home you know." Grinning she bowed to the other male, "It was nice meeting you Castiel."

Warwick hesitantly began to extend his paw at the request, awkwardly off balance and leaning heavily upon the forearm still planted firmly--or as firmly as it could be upon the shifting sand. A bit uneasy about the idea of Katrina taking hold of his offered limb, the treat helped to reassure the cull a bit. Watching as she wagged his paw in her grasp a bit. Was this shake? It didn't seem like too difficult a task, though Wick wondered what the point of it was.
Gulping down the last few bites of the savory snack a pink tongue curled around the corners of his mouth in search of crumbs with a sense of satisfaction. A satisfaction that didn't last long, head tilting at the human's new request. Roll over? Did he look like a performer?
Puffing a sigh at the woman dark brown eyes glanced back to Castiel. His frozen blue eyes seemed lost as he stared out across the endlessly blue horizon. Snapping back from whatever far away thoughts lingered on his mind with the cull's head on his thigh, "A pretty lady wants to take you home, Warwick.. I'd go for it if I were you."
Chuckling quietly the blonde rubbed his companion's head, before giving their new acquaintance a charming grin. "So soon? Well.. I guess we won't keep you then."
Standing out of an effort to be polite in seeing her off Castiel bowed his head farewell. Adding at the last moment, "I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. There are plenty of Mokai looking for good homes. I'm sure you'll have one sooner than you think."

She smiled at the two of them. "There are things I must attend. Hopefully I will see you again. Both of you." Grinning again, this time handing Warwick several treats. "And if you learn shake and roll over by the time we meet next, I'll give you a big dinner."
Castiel's added commented added the fuel to the fire of need to own a mokai and she smiled, "Maybe I'll be lucky. Thank you again."
Then she took off, leaving footprints in the sand.
