This is a private RP between Witseidutsei (Calixita) and Chandler (Kamiki).

Witseidutsei's hooves hit the ground hard as she landed, fluttering her wings to shake off the water that clung to the feathers as she trotted over to an overhang of rock to find shelter from the pounding rain. She was soaked, her untamed mane plastered against her face and neck, mud caked onto her hooves and legs. The mare was breathing hard, her heart racing, but the grin on her face and the excitement in her eyes showed that she was anything but distressed from her flight in the torrential rain, cold as it was. No, instead it had been exhilarating, pushing herself to her limits, daring the storm to just try and stop her -- she would never be grounded, the sky belonged to her!
She peered up into the dark sky. She wasn't far from the Thunderbird Heardlands now, though -- she was far up in the mountains, near the heart of the storm itself. After her short break, Witseidutsei galloped out from underneath the temporary shelter, picking up speed as rain pounded against her body, but it wasn't enough to stop her; her wings flapped, catching the strong winds and riding them expertly until finally the herd's territory came into view.
Home. She'd been gone for a week -- it wasn't unusual for the restless angeni to make these short trips, but she always returned eventually. Being a part of such a strong herd filled her with pride, and she was smiling as she came down to land.
She knew she must look a sight, filthy and wild as she was, but Witseidutsei found she couldn't be bothered to clean herself up. She was still feeling the high from her excitement of flying through the rain. It was not coming down as hard now, as if acknowledging Witseidutsei's victory of reaching her home in spite of its efforts, but it was still enough to cause a chill and she shivered, folding her wings up close to her body as she began to seek out Balrog or Stormwild -- or either of their spirited daughters -- to catch up on the happenings within the herd.
Despite the rain - the duties of the herd never wavered. Chandler had been patrolling the territory during the storm, along with Vortex and Jericho. When he saw a creature moving towards the herdlands in the storm and had gone to investigate.
As he got closer, he recognized the graceful flying shape as the angeni Witseidutsei. He flew closer, landing close to her as she took ground. "Welcome home," he said, giving her a warm smile. He looked a bit haggard from the rain, but as friendly and warm as ever. Witseidutsei was a striking mare, and the stallion felt a sense of pride that his herd welcomed such a powerful and beautiful winged creature.

Witseidutsei smiled brightly at the winged stallion when he landed beside her, and she bumped her shoulder against his playfully in greeting. "Chandler! Thank you. It's always good to be home... have I missed anything while I've been gone? Is the herd doing well?" She tossed her head in an effort to push her beaded mane out of her face so she could better see Chandler -- it was just easier to talk to someone that way, of course. Not that she liked to see the handsome pair of strong wings he possessed. Or the striking smattering of dark spots across his pale colored neck. No, no... it was just easier to converse with someone when you could see them clearly, that was all.
Chandler's smile widened at she touched him - the rush of the rain and the coming of spring making him ever-aware of the mares of the herd. "The herd is doing well - very well. Spring is coming - we're hoping for another good year. You will be happy to hear that Stormwild is expecting!" he said, unable to hide his tinge of excitement for the good news. "Foals, of course," he added quickly, suddenly afraid that was somehow too vague (at least when Vortex has told him so, it took him a bit to catch on what exactly she had been expecting). "Ah, that's only a rumor until you hear it from her own lips of course, but that has been the talk around here of course. Your return comes at the best time. I know Balrog wants everyone at their most diligent. You know.. because last time.."

I'm marking off this RP as complete and won't be checking for updates. If you want to continue - by all means please do! Just please quote me or PM me (or both) if you reply so I'll know to check! Thanks!
Witseidutsei certainly remembered the horrible events that occurred the last time their dear Alpha had been pregnant, and she shuddered at the thought of those skinwalkers daring to make an attack on them again. She hadn't been there when it had happened, but she'd had encounters of her own with skinwalkers in the past; the loss of one's foals would always a tragic event, but skinwalkers always made things all the more horrific. "That's wonderful news! Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. I won't let anyone know what a gossip you are," she teased lightly, but her smile was somber now. "I'll be sure to stay around and do what I can to help, then. Have the beasts been spotted again since that day?"

Chandler couldn't help but fluster a bit when she called him a gossip, feeling his ears burn and turn red for a reason he wasn't entirely sure about. But the levity was short-lived as the conversation turned back to the horrible beasts that took her baskets. "No, and they would be foolish to try and come into the herdlands," he said with a derisive snort. "But of course, I wouldn't put it past them, either."
He tossed his braided man over his shoulder. "But we'll be ready if they try this time, and they'll pay dearly for it."

I don't know how I missed this. Sorry for the late reply!!
Witseidutsei nodded, relieved to hear they haven't been spotted again; but there was still a burning itch beneath her skin, disappointment that she hadn't been here to help protect the herd -- and that she missed out on her shot at the monsters who tormented them. "I admit, a part of me wants to take the fight to them," she said, knowing it was a bad idea but wishing for it anyway. "Staying here, waiting for when they may strike next... it feels like we're just prey. At the same time, if an attack on them were to fail -- it would be all but an invitation for them to come into the herd lands, wouldn't it?" She mused aloud, and maybe a small part of her missed the days when it was only herself that she needed to look out for. Before the herd, she could hunt down skinwalkers and other beasts that harmed her brothers and sisters of the sky to her heart's content, without worry of revenge to anyone but herself. Her life in the heard was so much more... peaceful. And that certainly had its perks, too. She didn't dislike peace, but she'd always lived a warrior's sort of life and sometimes the calm made her restless. Still -- she wouldn't trade the herd-life in for going solo again.

Chandler felt a bit foolish; even he didn't think he would be brave enough to start a fight with a skinwalker. Protecting his herdlands was one thing, but actually hunting them down and initiating it? Well, Angeni seemed to be better suited to attack purewalkers than his mortal self; but still a shiver passed over him.
"Noble, it but a bit foolish," he said with a bit of mirth. "But I understand... they should pay for what they did, and it can be frustrating to sit idly by. Even if they do not try again, they still got away with murder and that's hard to live with." He paused for a few moments, thinking. "But in the end, you're ultimately doing what suits the herd best. The more of here to protect our lands, the better."
Just wondering if you were interested in continuing this or not? No pressure, just trying to keep things organized and getting back into RPing. If you want to keep going, just letting you know I'd be happy to! heart

Witseidutsei hummed in clear agreement, nodding. "Indeed. Whatever it takes to see this herd prosper. I can't imagine what it would be like if we ever..." she trailed off, unable to even speak of it. It would destroy her if the herd ever fell to shambles. She wouldn't allow such a thing to come to pass -- and not just her, but the entire herd. Under the leadership of Balrog and Stormwild combined, they were all strong, and Witseidutsei believed that they could overcome anything. "I watched this herd grow for a long time before I chose to descend from the Heavens. It was the reason I came here at all -- although I admit," she said, smiling again, "I got a little distracted with the rest of the world before I finally made my way here. There's so much to see and experience. But here's the only place that feels like home, among others blessed with wings."
"Surely, Thunderbird Himself had to have had you in mind for us," he said with a lop-sided smile, looking her over. Angeni were so rare and powerful as it was, but Chandler new that her specialty was Flight itself. "I don't think anything could stop our Herd," he said, with conviction. "Not that I want to temp the fates, of course, but we are so strong individually, certainly we get even more strong combined."
He looked over the mountains and smiled, happy with his home. "And hopefully there will be even more blood soon. More foals, maybe? Or just new additions. Part of me wonders how many blessed with wings are out there and don't even know about us? Know about the kind of life they could have here, among their kind. Protected. Flourishing.... not all herds are as lucky as ours. Especially in the lean times."
