Tsukumogami ("artifact spirit") are a type of Japanese spirit. According to the Tsukumogami-emaki, tsukumogami originate from items or artifacts that have reached their 100th birthday and thus become alive and aware. Any object of this age, from swords to toys, can become a tsukumogami. Tsukumogami are considered spirits and supernatural beings, as opposed to enchanted items.

Kasa Obake ("umbrella ghost"), or Karakasa Obake or Karakasa Kozo, are Spirits of Parasols (umbrellas) that reach the century milestone. They are typically portrayed with one eye, a long tongue protruding from an open mouth, and a single foot, generally wearing a geta.

Natural Ability: Flight: Umi can use her umbrella to float over objects.

Personality:

Umi is very cheerful, bubbly, a bit gullible, book smart but not witty, easily frustrated, no athletic ability whatsoever, more of a sheep than a shepherd. Umi is generally a happy person who is always very reluctant to take on positions of authority. she is quite well rounded intellectually, but she lacks conversational wit and is quite a concrete thinker.

Umi always respects those around her and treats her juniors, as well as seniors with a great deal of respect. Even if others speak rudely to her Umi will still treat them with the same level of respect as a friend. She believes that is she retatliates back to the offender than she is no better than them.

Umi doesn't get mad easily and doesn't believe in anger as a solution to problems She will try to find other ways to remedy a situation without getting angry.

If you ask something of Umi she will bend over backwards to help you out to the best of her ability. Even if the request is something ridiculous she will try and help you out.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy?

I like the natural ablitity of flight. You had me pictureing Mary Poppins.

She wants to be normal cause she doesn't believe that she is normal. She doesn't like the fact that she was kinda a umbrella and wished that she was like the other students who where monsters, or demons and didn't come from an item.
