It was another day of sticking to shade of the trees in the forest Ingram called home. he was more comfortable in his own skin I guess you could say, but some days he still felt like a monster, the monster with glowing red eyes that the new foals asked questions about and some feared. He knew they were too young to see the beauty that lay within ones soul, but it still didn't stop the pain at times. His mother and father could see his sadness as he left to wander as the sun began to set, but they knew no words would help anymore.

He wondered on through the forest knowing each tree as he knew each hair of his coat, but what was this gray one amongst the black? 'I must be getting old', he mused to himself. He then looked up and he turned and found himself in a new area of the forest, venturing further then he normally would. Soon the trees began to separate and were spread further apart and waves could be heard not too far off. He had stumbled upon a section of ocean. It had been awhile since he had seen her, way too long as it was very far from his home but the waves sure did have a way to calm him.

He walked down to the beach and let the water lightly wash over his hooves. He smiled as he looked out at the waves that came to lightly crash on shore. "Nothing I've seen has ever compared in beauty to the ocean."

Darkspine stood at the entrance of her cave, watching the waves that rolled along the beach. It had been a month since her son left and she was missing him, though happy he had chosen a mate among their own kind. Better a mate that would see past the monstrous features to the stallion he truly was.

A figure caught her attention standing on the beach. Curious to who might be around her territory, she made her way down to speak to the stranger.

Mesmerized by the ocean and the lulling waves and the melody they seemed to play for him Ingram almost didn't hear the odd approach of someone. He didn't wish to turn around and take his gaze away from the ocean, he wish he lived closer to her, but he couldn't just pick up and leave his family just for that.

When he did finally turn around the other was closer, but still a little ways off but Ingram could tell this soquili was different, but how he couldn't tell. He wlked closer somewhat caustiously unsure if he was trespassing and would be scolded, but when he finally could see the mare in full view he stared eyes glowing brightly slowly a kind and somewhat excited smile sneaking onto his face......

The naga stopped a few paces away and stared at the stallion. Her beach was popular of late it seemed. "Who are you?" Sure, it was blunt, but she was tired of roving soquili interested in seeing the freak. This one at least seemed a little difference. She was reminded slightly of Atal'ai.

Ingram stared in awe at the mare infront of him. She was beautiful, she reminded him a little of the ocean behind him partly with some of her color, but also with her beauty and the air of mystery that surrounded her. To him she was a mystery of sorts and he wanted to know all about her, where she came from, who she was.....who she was?! He realized he was still staring and she had asked him who he was and he was being extremely rude and had a goofy smile on his face still.

He finally tried to straighten his face, but it didn't quite work, but he managed a slight bow of his head as he introduced himself. "Hi! Im Ingram! What's your name? Your a kelpie aren't you? I've never met one before. Im told my grandfather is a kelpie, but I've never seen him or any of my biological fathers side of the family.....Wow...Your tail is so cool, I wish I had a tail like that. I bet you swim really fast. I wish I could swim...". He just started to almost bounce around in excitement looking her over admiring her. Realizing he maybe was frightening her he finally calmed down and backed away and blushed. "Sorry, I get carried away sometimes....It's just your so pretty and awesome my thoughts come rushing out all at once. Im Ingram...did I say that already? What's your name?"

Exhuberant. That was the word that came to Darkspine's mind while watching the young stallion. "My name is Darkspine." He thought she was pretty? Perhaps he had been hoofed in the head as a foal a time too many.. "I'm a kelpi, yes, a naga sub-breed. Why did you come here?" She was not sure what to think of him.

He had calmed now, but her reaction to his words seemed numb in a way. She may be like many he had heard of and maybe like himself not thinking themselves as attractive. Kelpies themselves sometimes had a bad-reputation in some parts, but Ingram knew better then anyone to not believe what you hear and sometimes to not believe what you see either.

He looked at her and thought on her question, why had he come here? He glanced back to the beach and then towards the direction of the forest that lead to his home should you travel far enough. "I was merely walking and amidst my wandering thoughts. I found myself admiring the ocean's beauty. I've only ever seen her a few times and Im saddend by that, but my family are all forest dwelers. I did not mean to trespass on your territory Miss Darkspine. I do apologize."

"No harm done, then," the naga answered, regarding this stallion. "You're very different from others. Most either try to give false approval or are wary. You seem genune in your curiosity and intrigue." She started walking back along the beach toward her cave. "If you're hungry, I have food."

He put a smile on his face again and began to follow Darkspine careful not to step on her pretty tail. He didn't want to impose on her but he would love to get to know her. "Why would they be wary of you and what do you mean by false approval....I don't understand." When it came to the other oddities of the world he couldn't see their differences that others saw, he saw only how they were like everyone else, but when it came to himself he saw the flaws the monster that scared the new born foal, the 'demon with glowing red eyes'.

"Too many seem to be afraid of my appearance and sometimes they pretend friendliness," the naga answered, glacning back. Once the approached her cave, she went to a small tidepool nearby. "There is algae here if you are hungry."

Ingram frowned at her words but he could understand. He had some of the same expierences and had seen worse besides. "I see, I know of what you speak....I've had those question my apperance and those that have been afraid of me. But I do not see why they should fear you, you do not look scary or frightening to me." When they enterened her cave and she offered him food he walked tro the small pool and looked over the edge. He gave a polite smile and shook his head, "No thank you, Im alright."

"I don't see why any would be frightened of you. You have strange markings, but no strange features." Darkspine merely shrugged at the decline. "Suit yourself."

"I am not sure myself, I've been thought to not see with my eyes, but with my heart.....but yet the eyes shall still see and others eyes wil see judge upon seeing my glowing eyes. I cannot blame children for calling me a demon or monster, but even some adults give me wayward looks outside those I was raised. It's not so much the looks of others that bother me its more the looks I see that they give others that aren't like themselves....those they would would deem ugly, monsters, just because they are different...." Ingram didn't understand even know why the world could be cruel to those that looked so different that looked even the slightest bit different. Always judging a book by it's cover, it shouldn't be that way.

Darkspine nodded. This one was more intelligent than he first appeared. "I understand how that is. I actually did not notice your eyes until you mentioned them/. Mine glow, too. It is unusual, but not a sign of being a monster."

Ingram's head raised again and he stepped closer to Darkspine, now in the darker cave he could see that her eyes did indeed glow, "Oh your right! I couldn't tell outside even with the dimming light, but here I can see them...they are very beautiful." He gave a gentle smile as he stepped back again not meaning to invade her space.
