His sleepy eyes tell stories of insomniac nights and the infliction on his stamina. This effect is only emphasized when XXXXXXXXXXXXdoesn't shave.PERSONALITYx✦ ✦ ✦ Alias is a fairly reticent man with little to say on the surface but a queer motivation to reveal himself. Alias grows verbally quieter in correlation to the size of the social group. It isn't because he's shy that he doesn't speak up, but because he's fascinated by what others mean to say. He's not a figure of social brilliance on the exterior, but he will do whatever others ask him to, but with careful planning beforehand. If given a cause to work for, he'll want to know the justification that supports the cause. He doesn't think of himself as clever and therefore needs simplification and explanation to the finest detail before he's willing to consciously act. He believes that the almighty force who made his existence real in the world traded his intelligence for a careful, moral compass. He's slow to act in times of trouble, but only because he overthinks dilemma. When speaking, Alias's hesitant voice serves as a measuring device to himself so he can pause to think and rethink. Growing up, his mother always supported him by telling him the more he used his brain the more intelligible he would become. This is not to say that Alias was stupid, the rest of his family was just advanced in method, therefore causing him paranoia in how he presented himself both verbally and wholly. To be perfectly frank, it's easy for those who are publicly acknowledged as skillful to intimidate Alias. He's only willing to become a disciple in something if his mentor is renowned because it reassures him that his learning comes from a substantial source.
Alias doesn't mind being the center of humility and enjoys the company of others. While Alias is a quiet man, he's more likely to be the person who initiates and ends the conversation rather than the one who acts as its crucial catalyst. Alias thinks he's a charming instrument of feedback and he's always more than willing to help someone in need, so long as the cause is ethically acceptable. He doesn't like "foxy" people who are arcane in presentation and tone of voice. People Alias prefers are those who are direct with him, and especially those who are impartial. When faced with "difficult people", Alias pleasantly makes himself frustrating to interact with. He tries his best to be just in situations, but he's conscious the issue of possibilities that call for the darker side of himself to participate. He'll do all he can to avoid them, but he's responsible enough to deal with them when they do occur. When the trouble comes to expressing his feelings, Alias won't verbally tell of anything personal, but he'd kindly write a letter or short story of some sort describing the matter. He isn't the kind of person who would conceal his inner thought, he'd just prefer to keep them private, even when sharing them with others. He feels that writing is a romantic method of expression, and he'd only share his personal toils and turmoils with others on paper. This idiosyncrasy is partially affected by his occupation as an inventor. Because he illustrates and describes all his autonomous toys on paper, he finds the material to be very secretive in sentiment and purpose.
The three harmonies are ingrained into the Richter family's bloodline. Humility, Humanity, and Humbleness are virtues preached and portrayed and are the skeletons of each Richter's psyche. Alias is no outlier, but he doesn't want his family's traditions to define him, or to have any influences of his family to restrict him. In a familial sense, Alias "disowned" himself as William Richter and became his own man. Identity is precious to Alias and he sees no reason for others to influence it because it's his reigning kingdom, and he doesn't intend to share. If any person exhibits the clear intent of trying to influence his person, William will instinctively try to repel them. He's only willing to change himself if the explanation of why he should do so is meticulously explained and therefore legitimate. Additionally, a committed relationship to a significant other is something Alias dreads to confront. While Alias is generous with his favors and money, he isn't willing to give any part of his person to anyone else, therefore he's never truly had a girlfriend, but is fond of certain women. He would never act foolishly enough to pursue a woman he liked, and he will not regret it if he doesn't win her. Love, the most complex of emotions, is one that Alias finds most ephemeral and over-prioritized in youth. As a man close to his forties, he sees no reason to follow afterthoughts.HISTORYx✦ ✦ ✦ William Richter is the elder of the two Richter sons born to Liesandra Richter and Roft Richter. The Richter family is timelessly known for their elaborate clocks and philanthropy. The family adheres to using the three virtues of humility, humanity, and humbleness in their economic pursuits. While they claim they devoid from acting miserly, the Richter vision aspires to have their family name placed among the rich and generally "good names." Their elaborately crafted and embellished clocks are admired and purchased by those who can afford to display them in their home, and obnoxiously large in mass. Each clock exhibits a variety of music and animation, and the most fantastic of the clocks utilize smoke and mirrors to produce illusions. The forms they take are many; some Richter clocks look like dollhouses, others appear to be a bard's golden skeleton. No two Richter clocks are the same, and no Richter is allowed to speak of their creation's process. Elliot and William Richter were raised in an austere environment from birth, with timing and precision being the foundations of their work effort. Every morning, the two would answer to the din of cawing cuckoo clocks, and every night, the two would fall asleep to the steady beat of tick-tocking clocks in their mantra. Often, the Richter family hosted parties in which they invited the wealthy to participate. The economic ulterior motive were the auctions that would occur during this time; the best clocks were never sold in shop, but in the Richter's monthly parties. The philanthropy would take part shortly afterwards, and Elliot and William were required to subtly mention these acts of generosity during socializing periods to better the Richter name and to mystify it more.
The artificial conduct of the Richters was something Elliot could comfortably live by, for it nurtured him and allowed him to meet people he otherwise could not, but William saw little reason to take pleasure in it because it lacked authenticity and was overall pitiful. He accepted the three virtues as the basis of ethics in his life, but he could never admit to the sincerity bestowed on his family's name. He understood that the Richters came from a humble background and gradually accumulated wealth, but to what avail? To donate it with a hope for praise? The thought made the elder Richter bitter, but he said nothing of it for twenty-five years. He felt that his life was amounting slowly and the pleasures in the world were limited to aesthetic beauty, which, by then, had become an artificial aspect of his life. Elliot was supportive and considerate of his brother's dilemma, and threw subtle hints at William that his elder brother should do what was right in his own scope. "It's not 'wrong' for you to think ethically for yourself, ethics are difficult for me to perceive, and Mother and Father seem to have a funny way of looking at it, Will," Elliot would say. While William didn't deny his brother's advice, there was no trigger to make him leave his family to pursue his own code of ethics. There was no "solid" reason for why he couldn't, his will was just awfully limp. Other than clockwork, he knew little else of what to do with himself. He could write, do arithmetic, and he could...turn objects into currency. The discovery was a shock to the elder Richter; the First Happening occurred one day during his breaktime when he foolishly wished he could make his own money and therefore become independent of the Richters' wealth. The item was a cog, a simple one, small, slightly rusty. The result was modest, but nonetheless money. His eyes began to water, and his vision blurred. Fearful and uncertain of what he'd done, William cried out to himself to make the nonsense stop this instant, and as he wished, the coin regained its cog form, and his eyes could see clearly again. He wasn't sure of what just happened, but through repetition of the event in secret, he learned that miracles were not illusions.
It was phenomenal and blasphemous. Nobody in the Richter family had an affinity with magic, and he was afraid to ask. What would become of him if he asked? He would be different from his family members, and for his entire life, they'd been trying to make him the same as them, to define him a Richter. He wrote to Elliot when the latter turned twenty, and quietly, William left his identity as William Richter behind and donned an Alias. He took what money he could bring with him, not too much in quantity, but very much in value. He was able to survive on his own to his surprise, and with little to no aid of his magic in that specific span of his lifetime.
When he ran out of money, he opened a small toy industry with products that functioned with gears, a familiarity of his. He worked towards buying a single, expensive outfit per year to prove that he earned his worth. Though his physiognomy resembled those of a Richter's, his experiences did not. When he further ran out of money, he would use his ability only as a survival skill, for he didn't see any harm in using the Midas Eyes to keep himself alive. While his customers were ignorant of his magical affinity, certain others were not. He was invited to enroll in the Academy, and seeing no reason to refuse, Alias accepted the offer and aspired to imbibe what else he could. After all, his skills were no different now than they were before, and perhaps it was time to see what more he could make of himself with the academic assistance of others. Oddly enough, no Richter seems to miss him, though some others claim to have recognized him; Alias has nothing to comment. It all began with time and perhaps only time would tell.

Through the focus of her aether, she can make an object slowly become diaphanous, andXXXXXXXXXXXXaltogether appear as if it wasn't there. Anything inside the object becomes invisible with it. For example, she can't turn a person invisible,XXXXXXXXXXXXbut if they were underneath a cloak, she could manifest her aether in the object and therefore make the person within it appear invisible asXXXXXXXXXXXXwell. The cloaking lasts as long as she can keep it up until she exhausts herself. She cannot cloak a wound or a physical injury. The processXXXXXXXXXXXXto make the magic work is very systematical. Inari simply needs to touch what she means to make invisible, and touch it again when she wantsXXXXXXXXXXXXto return it to being visible. Again, if she becomes too exhausted, the magic will wear off. For now, her ability is mainly a device for mischief (in makingXXXXXXXXXXXXthings disappear in the shop to amuse herself), but she's eager to give it a greater role and purpose if Alias requires her to.XXXXXXXXXXXXMy future plans for Inari and Alias's magics in tandem are flexible ones.When Alias's transmutation abilities mature and he's able to produceXXXXXXXXXXXXmore "effective" objects, Inari can "cloak" them. For example, if there's ever a dire, dangerous situation, Alias can transmute, say, a piece of rock into a swordXXXXXXXXXXXXand Inari, in return, turns it invisible to the eye. This makes it difficult for their would-be opponents to know the range of his weapon. Surprise me!.PERSONALITYx✦ ✦ ✦ There is nothing cunning or enigmatic about Inari, in contrary to the stereotypical fox. She's not much of a trickster as she is a magician and doesn't like to be mistaken as the former, like how a spinel is often mistaken as a ruby. Inari finds it rather dull to see things according to general assumptions, and thinks it's best to experience something before making any deliberate comment or voicing a concern. In regards to Alias, she's amicable on his perception of the world, though she finds his ethics undertone weary and sometimes fun-depriving. There's no excitement if calculation is a standard because it eliminates the aspect of the "daring". Alias generally doesn't participate in any intentionally amusing activity which is a primary cause of her occasional boredom. Because of her reticent environment, Inari attempts to be the incarnate of laughter when others are nearby. She enjoys prodding people and poking at where she shouldn't because of her profession as a "collector." She collects reactions, and she intends on collecting all of yours. Humans are role models for Inari, and if she finds things to her liking, she will repeat them or adopt them. This causes Alias to be wary around those Inari is exposed to, but likewise reassures him that she's branching out away from his own self and creating her own person.
Despite her impish nature, Inari has a softer, more considerate side that needs to be coaxed to surface. Inari's measure of value is similar to her User, but in the opposite manner. She will never offer her sagacious advice or deep sentiment until the person asking for it has achieved her respect and admiration. She doesn't see a point in wasting words on those who cannot understand them, out of her own pity. While many of the things that come out of her mouth are "cruel" in Alias's book, Inari claims she only states the obvious because it was necessary to. She doesn't function on his ethics alignment, and has her own situation-dependent method of how things should be resolved in times of conflict. Inari is an adaptive fox who can easily compromise on the exterior, but likewise will conceal deep loathing on the interior. The major fox-like trait that Inari inherited is her secretive side in respect to how she interacts with others; she doesn't have as many hidden motives as she does hidden feelings. Emotions override intentions in Inari's dogma, and she acts impulsively through her intuition instead of measured analysis. It's additionally useless to educate Inari in ethics or impress beliefs upon her. She learns from who she chooses, very much like Alias, and may not necessarily patiently sit through the lesson. Unlike Alias, she isn't easily intimidated, but she will continue to ask "why's" until they've been explained to her well.
Relationships are interesting to Inari, but not prioritized. She's kind and sunny around those she first meets, but she won't initiate friendships unless others suggest them to her first. When it comes to romance, Inari, (to her User's surprise) is aloof and uninterested in committing to a single person because she upholds the belief that she initially loves everyone equally. She finds more pleasure in watching others fall in love than falling in love herself. She'd much prefer a non-emotive related conversation with someone than one about her feelings (at all). Inari doesn't like to reveal to much of herself because she doesn't think she's required to. She's not obligated in any way to express herself to the fullest to anyone and she knows this basic principle. Conversations are fun for Inari, but she dislikes the competition in them. Because she knows she can be outspoken, she's more likely to repeat such behavior in a vivid discussion just to draw more attention to herself. Ironically, despite that she can make things invisible, her greatest fear is to become invisible, especially to Alias. Inari isn't quite sure of what her purpose is yet, but so far, she figures she's doing well in giving her User advice and feedback on the main source of fun he provides her: his autonomous toys. She's confident in her role as a Guardian, but thinks her User could be more responsible in treating her as a Guardian and less so as a business partner. He rarely asks her to use her magic for his own purposes, so she mainly uses it for mischief. Ultimately, she's afraid that if she doesn't apply herself to a useful purpose, she'll fade into a margin and tarnish her responsibility as a Guardian.

RED FOXThe red fox originated from smaller-sized ancestors from Eurasia during the Middle Villafranchian period, and colonised North America shortly after the Wisconsian glaciation. Among the true foxes, the red fox represents a more progressive form in the direction of carnivory. Apart from its large size, the red fox is distinguished from other fox species by its ability to adapt quickly to new environments and, unlike most of its cousins, is not listed as Endangered anywhere. Despite its name, the species often produces individuals with abnormal colourings, including albinos and melanists. Forty-five subspecies are currently recognised, which are divided into two categories: the large northern foxes, and the small, primitive southern foxes of Asia and the Middle East. Red foxes are social animals, whose groups are led by a mated pair which monopolises breeding. Subordinates within a group are typically the young of the mated pair, who remain with their parents to assist in caring for new kits. The species primarily feeds on small rodents, though it may also target leporids, game birds, reptiles, invertebrates and young ungulates. Fruit and vegetable matter is also eaten on occasion. Although the red fox tends to displace or even kill its smaller cousins, it is nonetheless vulnerable to attack from larger predators such as wolves, coyotes, golden jackals and medium and large felines. MUSIC INARI | MY NAME IS LOVE - AMY DIAMOND ALIAS | THE BALLAD OF MONA LISA - PANIC! AT THE DISCONOTES TO CRITTERSThere are many themes and motifs woven into Alias and Inari to take heed of. Additionally, I would like to emphasize that there is no romantic involvement/coupling between Alias and Inari, they see each other as good friends. I don't intend on writing them off as romantics, since both of them come off to myself as asexual due to their unique perception. While both have magical affinities that aren't combat -oriented, they are nifty for "getting around" and escaping from gritty situations in the future.
IRONY | This one's pretty self explanatory, mostly regarding wealth and the magic affinities both User and Guardian have in correlation to their personalities. Alias suffers conflict between artificial wealth and organic wealth due to his family's idiosyncrasies. The irony is apparent in both his lifestyle (his mentality to deserve what he earns) as well as his magical affinity. It is also notable that it's because of his own ethics and emotions about them that his magical affinity arrived late. As for Inari, her irony is her fear of becoming inferior and her ability to make things invisible. BALANCE OF VALUE | While Alias's magic affinity introduces a new value to items (monetary worth), Inari's magic affinity causes the physical value of something to "disappear". Likewise, the User, Alias, is aspiring to earn his worth, while his Guardian aspires for others to prove themselves worthy for her aid. However, when the two apply these mentalities to each other, they arrive at an awkward grey area. Alias isn't quite certain of how he feels about his responsibility as a User and Inari is eager to act on his behalf. I plan on having this becoming the trigger to what causes the two of them to become scientists and apply themselves to a purpose (since Alias already has cognitive and motor experience and Inari can proved him additional wisdom).
TIME | This can also be perceived as another ironic device; Alias escapes the "confines of time", his family's business (which literally refers to clock-crafting) to become dependent on it as to how he will develop.
