There'd been a note right by the foot of her door when she got back from a trip to the monster dorm kitchen for spices again. Popcorn looked like he was just sniffling around it, intrigued by the foreign smells on it. Or were they foreign? Whatcha got thar, fella? The tatzel bent down to retrieve the letter only to have Sweets swoop down then and perch on her shoulder. Thinking nothing of the creature's churring, she opened the envelope while swinging the door shut behind her with her tail. Hmm... Upon opening the note, Levi's face would turn from curious to a scowl in seconds. She'd read it and gathered the demon was looking for some sort of rematch.

Oh I got somethin' fer ya, alright... A trap? Really? Trying to give out punches are you? Even after the events of the field trip, he still sought her out for revenge.

She scoffed at the outrageous move. Although- that was pretty admirable. He hadn't really candy-coated anything and saved her because he probably thought it best to save himself by doing so.

West always said or gave acknowledgement when he wanted to hit something and didn't bother to fake pleasantries unless he was doing so as a taunt. Surely, that was what he meant by this note. He wanted to give her a good one to the face or something.

Fine.

-------------------------------------------------

When that Curseday came, Levi was already out in the field, recalling her steps that day when she'd gone for her first real flight. On a demon. A growl hummed in her throat at the memory of the branches lashing at her, but that subsided when she thought of her effective pinning. She'd won that time. Not too far off from the shed, Levi peered around once she came to the first row of trees outlining the woods. This was where she'd first met West, so ...this is where the trap was set to happen, right? Eyes darted around trying to spot that familiar color, but he was nowhere to be seen. Yet. Still cautious, as if to expect him springing up from the ground or through the trees, she settled her back on a tree, crossing arms. Her tail swayed anxiously on the defense for what could potentially happen.

She waited for it.

The boil strode toward the shed from the direction of the school, partially lost in his own thoughts. No, they were not thoughts of punching. Okay, fine, some of them were, but the majority of his brain was focused on issues that were both more disturbing and more embarrassing than hitting someone could ever be. His hands were empty. The whole "I have something for you" part of his note had been a complete lie. He wasn't even thinking of hitting her at all. The very idea hadn't crossed his mind... today. His stomach lurched and he took a shaky breath when he noticed her leaning against a tree. West narrowed his eyes, glaring at Levi from across the field.

"Y'came," he shouted, closing the distance between them with a bit more haste. Of course she had. Ghouls liked Things. He had promised Things. She had come. Inevitable. "I dun'ave anythin'," he muttered quickly, probably shattering her dreams of surprise epic gifts. "I lied." West had gone over what he planned to ask her a thousand times while he had been recovering in his room, but now that he was standing here frowning at her, the words wouldn't come. He searched for something neutral to say instead, an ice-breaker perhaps, and finally blurted out the decidedly more combative, "So, y'burned t'death, huh? Next time you'll listen t'me."

She hadn't been looking in his direction, but with a sudden ear twitch, she quickly turned to see West when he'd called out to her. Well, 'course I came. She wasn't going to be the one lookin' yella. He'd issued some secret sort of challenge to her and Levi had fully intended to face him head on. Examining his walk, she noted that he wasn't behaving in any particularly menacing way. The glare was in his expression, but she'd nearly come to accept most of his glares as common occurrences. Huh. Him trying to be sly again? He'd rush at her within a moment or two, surely.

Ya don't- She raised a brow, wondering what he was talking about. What'er ya goin' on 'bout? Where ya 'supposed ta be havin' ...

lied.
What. She watched and listen to his words and movements as if on replay, trying to piece together something that could be compiled into a coherent thought. What was he getting at?! And then ol' West would show his typical smart-mouthed boil colors; she hissed back a response.

Problem was I' WAS LISTENIN' to ya! When 'shoulda been watchin' fer them fires comin'! If ya hadn't been hollerin' at me-!

No. It wasn't right. It had been her own fault for not being able to detect the danger when it crept up on her considering speed was something she prided in. It wasn't fair to blame it on West's warning since he had done just that- tried to warn her. He'd actually done something to keep her from harm for once.

Levi sighed, tired of going over the happenings of her death over and over again during the past couple of weeks. She leaned a foot against the tree trunk and leered at the demon. Whadda'ya want from me, West?... don't tell me nothin' happened to ya when tha professor attacked before I'dun gone under. Ya'll ain't fooling' me none ... 'nless ya really did turn tail n' hide. Levi tilted her head and waited for him to bark back something that would undoubtedly try to deny her implications.

He looked down at the dirt when she yelled, his arms snaking across his chest and folding up into their customary wall. It was true. He had distracted her. Maybe he should have just kept quiet and none of it would have... no, wait. Holly had done just fine for herself, even with his shouting. West's head snapped up, his eyes flaring brighter with a slight green glow, but just for a moment. He settled down a bit when she began to speak, if only because she was addressing things he'd rather not talk about.

"Nope. Nothin'appened," he countered quickly, shaking his head. "I was around th'whole time. Not hidin'." He hadn't needed to. No matter how far into someone's personal space he had ventured or how loud he screamed, no one had taken notice. "After I left y'took that pill an'then y'popped Red in th'legs. It wuzza pretty good shot too." West shifted his weight. Yeah, he had watched the battle from that horrible place. He had done so many things there, and nothing at all. His frown deepened and his next words were probably a bit louder than they needed to be. "I didn'tell y't'come out'ere t'talk 'bout this," he said, his agitation turning his words to mush. "I came t'collect. You owe me fer gettin' y'outta that net."

So he had been there the whole time? It seemed like he was there one moment and gone the next, however. Really, so many memories of that night were just disorienting enough to leave her doubting her own initial belief. Yeah, hit hard, but she sure did hit harder. A small smirk came over her face then when he had acknowledged her shot despite it being a rather distressing scene. Beating their own professor and all. Levi shook the thoughts out of her head. She would not show weakness in front of West if she could help it. Even if it did pain her to think about what happened.

Levi'd seen West get in some good shots too. Weren't half bad yerself thar, boil. Saw ya too from where I 'was. Wherever I 'was. Could he have really been there the whole time? Something told her he was lying again, but that wasn't the most pressing of issues anymore. What concerned her now was this debt to be repaid.

Given he still owed her for the clothing he'd cut up that time, she could have just suggested they were even. However, Levi would still be without the clothing she'd lost so- she'd have to hear him out and try an alternate way of repaying him. She'd forced him to take her to that maul and dangit they were going to go.

Raising a brow further, she questioned with some intrigue. There was no denying the fact that he'd saved her from what could have been a capture of some sort. Levi hated the idea of being trapped like that. Right on the spot, she did recall telling him she owed him one. What sorta thing ya lookin' ta git me ta do then? She was all ears as to what he'd chosen to be her method of payback.

(( O____O ))

Her smirk reminded him to keep himself in check, but he didn't smile in response to the compliment she gave him in return. West wanted to ask her what she had seen, if the place she had gone when she died seemed at all similar to where he had been or where Holly had found herself on that island. In the end, he held back. How could she have ended up in that void and still act so calm when she spoke of it? He supposed that was yet another indication that she was the right one to ask. As embarrassing as this was going to be, Levi had always been a worthy opponent. If anyone made fun of him for going to her for help when she had given him plenty of reasons to do so, he would just have to knock their teeth in. He sighed. At least she wasn't a first year anymore. That would have made this unfathomably embarrassing.

Now that he was certain there was no one else for the job and he couldn't just back out and walk away with her staring at him like that, West was at a loss as to what to do next. He knew he had to ask what he came to ask before he went back to his dorm, but it seemed a little desperate to just blurt it out. Still, if he caught her off guard, he hoped she might be flattered and say yes before she really thought about what he was asking. Before she could lord it over him and refuse.

"Well... Y'know that stuff y'do with the..." He uncoiled his arms and gestured at her vaguely, cutting himself off with an agitated huff. "Yer tail. An' all the dodgin'round y'do." Inhale. Exhale. "Cannit be taught? Can y'teach me?" Remembering that he was the one demanding payback here, West's voice got a little louder and he stood up taller, leaning forward slightly. "Yer gonna teach me. Then we'll be even. That's what y'owe me."

She had listened to him through his slow but quickly paced burst of words. As usual, Levi had to take a moment to decompress the things coming from his mouth before building back up on what statement he was trying to make. Coming up off of her lean on the tree, she stood in front of the boil more closely (deja vu?), looking him dead in the eyes for any hint of sly conviction while he spoke.

Then he took on a typical tone, demanding she train him. His stance was like that of a tatzel when they were trying to intimidate their prey and bracing for attack. Heh- boil, ye sure got a smart mouth on ya. If 'I didn't know better though I'd say ya'll were asking' fer somethin' from me fer fightin'. Trainin'? Yeah, the slight mockery was there, but it didn't last. I' do owe ya one...

Almost repeating what she'd done the last time they were here, Levi's tail flickered towards the demon's. She was about to bat at his tail a bit, inspecting the mobility of it once more but stopped herself. Her tail coiled back into a curl behind her. She'd trained Xiu a bit in the matters of maximum tail usage, right? If Xiu was capable, West wouldn't have any trouble, she figured. The boil was strong; if anyone with a tail of lesser musculature could learn to use their appendage adequately, it would be West. He's just that jacking stubborn. Not that it was meant as an insult; his determination was the very reason for her accepting this deal. Sure, I'll teach ya. I'mean- don't think ya'll can bounce 'er nothin' but... ya fly any'who, eh? Learnin' ta be fast... She walked away from West, heading toward the line of trees again. Placing a hand to a trunk she stared off into a distance through the foggy wood scene. Wasn't easy, ya kno. Won't happen overnight. She couldn't count how many days she'd come home from fighting in the woods back in her town just covered in bruises and cuts. She'd learned to fight in her tatzelwurm form, so her speed may have been easier to generate in this tiny form. However, she'd undoubtably have an edge in that form as well given it was what she was most comfortable moving in. Sometimes she missed it. Levi placed fingers at her skull pin just then, understanding that this was what kept her out of her natural appearance. Just be thankful ya ain't trainin' with me as 'I was back home. She chuckled at the thought.

Her mild taunting was no more annoying than someone stepping on his foot after the humiliation that had been asking her to help him in the first place.

"Yeah. Y'do. And yeah, I'm askin'." West resisted the urge to look behind him to make sure no one was around to hear. Instead, he kept his eyes on Levi, unintentionally staring her down. This was serious business. He knew he couldn't bounce on his flimsy tail. That much he was fine with. As their most recent class trip massacre had proven, his wings made up for that part. What he wanted was, yes. The quickness.

"Sure, sure," he replied. He knew whatever she taught him would take practice to master, but he hoped that after she showed him the basics he could then work on his own to get better at it, without the need for a damn tatzel trainer. When she walked away he relaxed his stance, finally realizing just how tense this endeavor had made him. Now that it was done he wanted to go do something else.

"At home?" West said. His attention had wandered back to his room and the pile of homework he had left there, and he looked down at his feet as he dragged a booted toe through the dirt. "Why shud'I be thankful a'that?" It was clear she hadn't sat around sewing all day before she had arrived here, but he couldn't really see how fighting her when she was surrounded by her whole hick village would have been any harder than fighting her here. Maybe they threw potatoes. He shrugged slightly at the thought, but didn't take his eyes off of his shoe.

She looked back to find the boil a little less than intrigued. Well, tell me. Do ya look just like that when yer at home with yer family? It hadn't clued in to her that demons maybe didn't change to come to school here. Others like Demi had definitions on them visibly that marked that they had something different about them that was being shifted. Ears and tails... Mitsu was one too; Levi had seen the white wolf during the battle in the gorge. Upon first meeting West, she'd wondered what sort of critter he was by inspecting his horns and tail but that was as far as she took it.

In all seriousness, it was safe to conclude he wasn't a bird demon, really. He couldn't literally remove his pin and turn into a bloodied bird since his wings were, well, not always there. They were some sort of power, but not a part of his everyday physical form.

I don't.

She grinned widely before looking back into the woods and then back at him. Fightin's different when yer movin' without these. When ya aim ta hit, yer hits ... well, they kinda hit 'lot more ground if ya git me. You'd sure gotta move fast then, fellar. She swiped a foot into the dirt herself to illustrate what she was talking about; legs and feet. The only reason she was able to kick and use her legs so well was because her lower body was an important part of her mobility in tatzelwurm form. What she could do with her tail, she tried with her legs and vice versa- which accounted for why she was able to move so fluidly. Now that'd be more 'a a challenge. Just how 'I learned it. A sly leer crept onto her face then. She began moving into the woods, tail swaying behind her with her arms folded neatly at her back. She was a bit far from West now, the fog of the woods just barely beginning to grey her form when she called out to him. Her fingers tightened at the skull pin attached to her scarf.

AYE, WEST... ever fought somethin' few times yer size? Like- a' full out wrestle? She was obviously getting at something...

Oh yes, she was.

Levi had a mind to start a lesson right there. As always, she tried to keep in mind that one should never underestimate their opponent no matter the size. They'd both fought against the beast form of their once-professor, but ... sparring. The tatzel wondered how West would react to the prospect of training with her if she was in her natural state. Not that it was her intent to do so- training for her would be best in her smaller form now. She had a lot to learn now about things like her poison. Would it even work in this form?

This was a test of his reactions. Would he withdraw his request or be just as determined as he'd always been?

Levi looked back, waving a hand at him to hurry and follow, before readying to move further into the woods. If she was going to do something, it might be best done in the woods in case it could cause any trouble.

West was not ignorant of natural forms by any means, but that didn't prevent him from conveniently forgetting about them when they weren't right in front of his face. There were only so many things he could stand to keep in his head at once, after all, and every detail of his classmates' appearances normally didn't make the cut. He had seen a few of his fellow students in the guises they wore outside of school, but when he pictured them in his mind, it was their humanoid forms he recalled first. To be fair, he had only actually seen a handful of students in their true forms, but those he had seen ranged in size from... ginormous... to small and fairly cuddly. He pictured Levi fitting into the second category, if only because of her ears and tail.

He looked up, his shoes suddenly far less interesting than her words. No... feet? Had he understood her correctly? Her natural form had no feet? West admittedly knew absolutely nothing about tatzels, not even that the word was short for something else, but no feet? Was she a snake? The demon took a couple of steps after her when she ventured farther into the woods, but stopped again when what she yelled sunk in.

a few times his size

No way.

He began moving again, jogging closer to the ghoul while shaking his head.

"Nuh uh." It might have been a reply to either of her questions. He had never set out to wrestle anyone, and only did so when the whole punching situation didn't work out. He had never really started something with the intention of kicking his opponent either, but it happened. The wrath demon was all about the pummeling, at the expense of more useful skills, apparently.

"Just, uh, Red." Yeahhhh. "An' a pink thing in Christmas Town." Why did most of their class trips end with a giant enemy battle? "Not one on one 'er nothin'. An' not wrestlin'." He looked at her, skepticism and curiosity warring over control of his features. "But you? Yer twice my size?" He'd believe it when he saw it.

Once she'd reached a clearing that seemed suitable for not smacking into any trees while turning, Levi stopped. For a moment she had to assure herself that this wasn't the same place where she and Holly had built their secret hideout- indeed, it wasn't. Good.

Taking in a deep breath, still holding onto her pin, Levi turned toward West... and then continued to take a few steps backwards. For a moment, her face looked puzzled when he mentioned something of christmas town. Sure- the ghoul vaguely knew of accounts that the other students had mentioned there, b ut she herself had no idea what lurked in the joyous scene. Her features eased back into a smile. Twice 'er... more... With a chuckle then, she positioned her fingers along the outside of her pin like she was ready to remove it. one way ta be certain, eh? That simple smile turned into a toothy grin when the pin popped off from her scarf, flicking towards the wrath demon from her fingers.

The ghoul grew.

She grew taller. She grew larger.

Levi was no longer the 5'9" pale faced country ghoul seen walking the hallways of Amityville. Instead, once fully changed, before West would tower a white haired monster with eyes that were glowing a golden hue through the slightly foggy air. There were no pupils, but the focus on him was evident enough. From clawed paws and a tail that endlessly coiled within itself, that toothy mouth continued to grin, displaying similarity between the ghoul that was and the beast. Only now, that grin consisted of large pointed teeth. Simply from breathing out, a rumbling growl could be heard.

The tatzelwurm placed both paws in front of her, sitting upright. No legs were visible, but her tail unraveled then to curl into loops that would make up the 32' of muscular tail that her kind prided in. She felt perfectly comfortable in this foggy woodsy scene (just like back home) and thought of how she could actually get used to transforming while out here; something to consider. Another growl passed her throat, and her eyes narrowed at the boil.

What now, West?
PostPosted: Sat Nov 19, 2011 5:26 pm

He truly hadn't expected Levi to call him on his taunt. Obviously she wasn't some giant beast, they both knew it, so why make things worse by dwelling on her overexaggeration? When her skull pin came flying toward him, West's hand shot out automatically to retrieve it, the act of catching the thing distracting him for a moment. He looked down at the pin in disbelief. What was she trying to prove? Was she really some huge...

West looked up. She was.

The demon stared as she transformed, silent and wide-eyed, his gaze moving from ears to teeth to paws. No back legs. For real! Surprise and awe, even a touch of happiness flitted across his face as he began to move, circling the tatzel to get a better look at her tail. He noticed that it was snakey, much more than he would have guessed, but he probably should have anticipated that given its strength. West supposed she had really shown him. All this time...

The first indication that this brief moment of peace had come to an end was the slight narrowing of West's widened eyes. He walked back around to where he had stood when she'd thrown him her pin, looking up at the ghoul as his frown deepened. She'd had an advantage the whole time. That was why he couldn't win. Scheming monsters and their giant natural forms. How was he supposed to compete with power like that? He felt his stomach twist with envy as he shook the fisted hand that held her pin. "Great," he said, his voice grumbly but otherwise surprisingly flat. "Y'showed me. I believe ya. S'long as y'don't take back what y'said 'bout trainin' me, we're even." He tossed the pin at her feet, her huge paws dwarfing the little white skull.

If her laugh could be considered a cause for concern in her regular form, her laugh while in her full tatzelwurm body was something to behold. The same growl heard from her breathing occasionally was now amplified in a consistent rolling laugh. The tatzelwurm did this when the wrath demon came back in front of her after his circling of her tail. She read his expression as one of curiosity which the ghoul couldn't help but laugh at. He really hadn't seen one of her kind before. Her grin faded when his face changed. He was frowning and she could only chalk it up to him having another ego moment.

Indeed, the ghoul was able to speak in her hometown form but her voice wouldn't be the same; deeper and carrying a menacing tone with slightly more elongated hisses after an s. Then it'sssss 'a deal~, Wessssst.

He'd once again proven himself to be a determined boil. Even after seeing her form and making such a face, he would still take her on.

Snaking the end of her tail to hover over the pin, she coiled around it on the ground to grasp the tiny object, leading her to pick up a generous amount of soil as well. At the touch, her form changed again and the more recognizable smaller body of the ghoul returned. From her now shorter tail, she picked out the skull pin from the end and placed it back on her scarf where it had been before. Wouldn't lie none'ta ya, boil. I ain't a cheat. Walking toward and then beside him, she looked at him just as the word "cheat" passed her lips before walking back towards the entrance of the woods. Levi assumed he'd just follow her out.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 22, 2011 11:46 am

The growl that rumbled up from his chest in response to her mirth was a soft, uncontrolled thing, no match in volume for her laugh or her ominous voice. West nodded when she spoke. Good. That was all he needed to hear. No, it didn't make up for the fact that he felt like an ineffectual infant standing next to her right now, but as long as she wasn't laughing at him... wait. West sighed. She had agreed and that was all that mattered.

He watched as she collapsed back into the form he was familiar with, all of that might forcing itself into a comparatively tiny body. Striding up quickly beside her, his eyes still narrowed, West muttered, "Didn't think y'were a cheat, not anymore. Jus' that you were exaggeratin'." His next handful of steps were taken in silence, but just as they reached the edge of the forest, he turned to her and added, "One day I'll beat ya in that form." First, of course, he'd have to beat her like this, but that was doable, right? For the first time since coming to this school, West had a goal. It felt... nice. The boil looked forward again, not bothering to hide the smirk that lifted his lips.

Once back at the clearing of the field, Levi turned to note West's expression. Heh. So he wasn't as dumb as he once was; the boil learned the real merit of her abilities. She was no cheat. Never was. She'd begun to also feel a bit more at ease in regards to teaching this boil anything. Coming from a place where the boils wouldn't teach her how to fight in the first place, why should she really pass anything on to West? Well, because she wasn't like them. He'd made amends and would, in due time, pay her back for the damages he'd done.

It this school, there were few who she in turn could learn from when it came to her love for roughing it out so- West was really a good choice in practicing for herself as well. If he got faster, she'd have to focus on being faster than him if she was going to teach him.

Beat her in her home form? kekekeke~ She'd like to see it.

She strode back into him personal space, smiled and winked at him then like the training was a secret she'd keep. Alright. We'll start 'right away. Ya won't know where... n' ya won't know when... She paused for the suspense, whispering the next bit while backing away step by step.

... so keep yer eyes open. She stopped a few feet away now and then stood idly with her hands at her back for a moment, smirking. See ya, 'round, West. Then Levi took off running and eventually bouncing her way back to the dorms.
