Kita had finally been taking out of the nursery. With a little help with her mother, and the two-legger her mother insisted on calling ‘master’, the young mokai was getting the hang of walking of a leash. Not only that, she was getting just a little taller day by day, making her once clumsy movements a thing of the past. (For the most part, anyways.)
Her bright gold collar gleamed in the sunlight. JB had taken her outside and into the settlement where he lived, leaving the striped mother to be the watchful eye over the youngster. The human had been rather busy as of late, as his wife had given birth to a child of their own. While JB would love to spend time training his two female mokai, he had priority to take with the newborn child. He knew Ai would watch over Kita. The trust bond had be reinstated between them. The human only hoped that one day, he and Kita would develop such a bond.
“Come on mom!” Kita whined, rummaging against her mother, bored. “I’ve been cooped up in the nursery WAY to long. Let’s go have some fun! A run or something.”
“…You know we can’t go anywhere.”
“No, I can’t go anywhere alone. But if you are with me, the two-leg---I mean master, will be fine! We will come back soon! I just want to…explore a bit.”
Sighing and shaking her head, Ai couldn’t say no to the giant gold puppy dog eyes Kita was giving her. “Alright. But we aren’t going to far!”
However, Kita hadn’t been listened. As soon as Alright left her mother’s mouth, the young mokai bounded off, running through the settlement as if she owned the place.
“K…Kita! Wait!” Ai raced after her youngest daughter, mentally growling at her. “Stop!”
Kita only did stop when they hit the entrance to the settlement, blocking the feral colony from the domestic ones. “Look mom! What’s out there?”
“The wild.” Ai said slowly, walking up to her daughter. “Come on, we weren’t suppose to go far, remember?”
“Oh come on! Let’s explore out there!”
“Kita No. KITA!” Already, Kita had bounded outside Huntindon, and into the unknown territory.

She had contemplated going to tell Ai of what she was planning, so that she could prepare and keep herself clear from that area of the settlement while Reisx's plan went into action. She needed Ai to be safe, while she was with pups, expecting, and she shook her head. It was so strange that it seemed to happen so fast. BUt, Reisx knew, Ai would be a strong mother, a wonderful mother, and that was what counted.
Reisx came to the edge of the forest, towards the gate, peering towards her fence opening, and she looked for her outlet when the guards would be gone, however, just as she was going to run into the open, into the settlement, something small, dark...and somewhat round caught her eye.
Was that a ...pup?
She looked to see if the guards were near, if a human was near. Who on earth would send a pup into the wild. Reisx crouched low, waiting, as soon as the child was close enough, she would grab the pup and bring her to safety, Reisx would not have the blood of a hunted down pup on her paws today.

She was going to kill her! If Ai got her paws on Kita, should would teach her a lesson about running off. “Kita!” She growled, hating the feeling of stepping outside the settlement without the company of a two-legger, but nonetheless, knowing she had to do just that. Without another moment to lose, Ai raced after her puppy once more, speeding towards the woods, after the dark ball of fur.
If only I was much smaller… she noted, watching the agile little pup dive under the brush, and into the woods. “…Great.” She only hoped others that bore no evil intentions were the only ones out here.
“This is so cool!” Kita whispered, diving under the canopy of trees. Everything was new; this was something that you could never see in the nursery, or the gates of the settlement, for that matter. “Come on momma! Look at this!” She eyed the strange insect climbing up the tree, not noticing the new scent of the feral creeping up.

Reisx watched as the small pup came close, and it seemed to be speaking to another. Another mokai had come out with this one? She was conflicted - would this other mokai hurt this pup, would this pup try to get away again? Was the pup even trying to escape from the settlement so early, and the parent was trying to hinder the pup's choice?
Regardless as soon as the upup bumbled into the underbrush, Reisx's eyes went wide and looked behind her as if looking through the trees across distances: what if the other's caught the scent of a domestic? Worse, a pup, what would they do?
No, she wouldn't let anything happen, she would protect it.
Jumping into the underbrush she moved quickly, watching the pup look up a tree and now was her chance, she grabbed the pup by the scruff of the neck, quickly, and then ducked for the darkness of the underbrush she moved fast and settled the pup down quickly.
"Shh," she spoke, eyes looking about, Reisx stood over the child, "I'll keep you safe."

Feeling the prickling of teeth grab her by her scruff, Kita squealed. Her eyes peeled down at the dark feet, knowing at once this was not her mother grabbing her. “MOM! HELLLLPPP!” she called, tucking her feet and tail as Reisx carried her quickly away.
“Let me go! Who are you?! My momma’s gonna come after you if you don’t let me go!” she cried out.
She was put down shortly after. The fur on the back of her neck bristled, as she gave her best growl towards Reisx. “My momma can keep me safe! MOMMA!” she called out again.
Hearing the shouts and squeals of Kita, Ai quickly followed the sounds of it. She scented the air, finding Kita’s mixed with one of more familiarity. She sighed in relief for just a bit, before chasing after the voice, and approaching the two figures cautiously.
“…I see you have met my daughter, Reisx.” Ai stated, giving her friend a smile, but glaring towards her daughter. “Young lady I am very di---“
“SEE. Told you my momma was going to come after me! Now you are in trouble! Momma kick her butt!” The young mokai waltz over to her mother, settling herself in between her front paws as she gave Reisx a smug look. It was something along the lines as ‘You’re going to get it!’

Reisx looked down to the pup and her eyes narrowed. This pup had run away from her mother? What kind of pup - ugh, wonderful. However, as Reisx was beginning to feel cornered by her actions, she caught a scent and smiled. She stepped away from the pup and looked to the dark mass, "Seems I have, Ai," she said with a soft laugh. Ai looked great, strong as ever, Reisx just hadn't thought Ai would have pups this soon!
"She's a feisty one, isn't she?" Reisx said looking down at the pup, she crouched down to the pup's level, winked and stuck her tongue out, "I don't think so little one."
Reisx pulled back and rolled her shoulders, apologetic look on her face, "I didn't know she was yours Ai, she is so dark, so little stripes, fast one though-"

“I think feisty is a bit of an understatement.” She stared down at Kita, who sat ‘like an angel’ in between her paws. Rolling her eyes, Ai shook her head. “She’s been cooped up in the nursery for a while. Our master has just had a little one of his own, so he has been very busy to work with either of us.” She explained. “But the last week she’s been out, and she said she ‘wanted to stretch her legs’ ---“
“Which I did! I came out here! It’s so cool! Mrphsmrph.. mrph mrp!” She continued to speak, even as Ai’s paw was over her muzzle.
“Bottom line, you’re right. She is a fast one. It's alright. I'd rather you catch her then someone I don't know out here." Ai could only think about what horrors may lie out of the gates. "This is Kita.” She chuckled, as Kita glared at Reisx coming down to her eye level.
What was her mother thinking? This was a bad guy here! She was the one who kidnapped her! Why was she giving her name? “Mmrph mmph grrr.”
Releasing the paws from her mouth, Ai asked, “What was that?”
“Why did you give her my name? She is the bad guy here!”
“…And she is becoming very opinionated for such a youngster.” Ai sighed, sounded almost exasperated. She kept a paw on her daughter’s back, readying to grab the golden collar in case that she decided to run off again.
“How have you been Reisx? I hope everything has been faring ok with you…?”

She looked to the young one, KIta, and almost laughed at the mock angel effort. This pup really knew how to try and egg on others huh? Keeping her ears alert, just in case one of the others came too close, Reisx watched them both, especially KIta, in case she gave Ai too much trouble.
"You mind your mother, especially, beyond the gates, Kita," Reisx said looking down to the pup.
Looking to Ai, Reisx nodded and let her paws sift against the ground. "It's been all right, better, making my home here. But I've still something to settle in the settlement, you understand, when it does happen, I'll come see you before, so you can keep yourself and the little ones," she looked to Kita, "away from the area. But it's been good, but, you have to be careful, there are others out here, that have no truly revealed themselves yet, they gave me a message for to male fighter ...doesn't sound like they will play nice."
She looked to Kita though, and her expression softened, "But my promise still stands with you and yours, no matter what," she said with a smile, "and I mean it."

Ai also was very alert. Part of her wanted to up and leave, dragging her young pup back to the settlement by her scruff just as Reisx had done moments ago, but the other part wanted to stay out here with her friend. Never had she ventured out of the settlement to meet with Reisx, for it was always the opposite way around.
“I always mind my mother!” Kita said with a wide smile, giving the big puppy dog eyes back to Ai. “Right momma?”
Rolling her eyes, Ai ignored the puppy dog gaze, shaking her head once more. She listened intently to what Reisx said. She had something to settle in the settlement? Her ears perked with curiousity, but didn’t ask anymore. She said that she would come to her before whatever was to happen, happened. She nodded, understanding.
“Before what?” Dropping the tough guy attitude, Kita inched towards Reisx. “What area? Momma can we go see it? PLLLEEEAASSEEE?”
“No…” She turned back to Reisx. “It doesn’t, does it.” She grimaced a bit, pulling Kita back a bit. “Thank you Reisx. I…honestly can’t say what I would do if I had never met you.”

"Just be careful little one, Kita," she said, knowing that perhaps the pup might become upset if she was continually called something besides her name, "be careful until you are old enough and can prove you can go out on your own, alone, till then, mind your mother," Reisx said with a nod. Looking to Ai, she didn't want to discuss the details in front of Kita, especially where KIta wanted to go to the area now.
"One day I'll tell you about it KIta, and you'll know why you are never to go there, understand?" she hoped the child would. She would hate to see her old master try and steal Kita away because she was not only female and a fighter, but because she was dark in color like Reisx was...
"They've not explained anything, and Cellen, he doesn't know yet, but I need to know who they are, one of them found the entrance I made," she said motioning to the fence. "It'll be safe for you to use to get back in, but be wary of strange scents, all right?"
With Ai's words, Reisx smiled, "and I, you."
There was a friendship between them that was like hte bond between packmates, only they were separated by land, and by what appeared to be fate.

“…Fine…I will.” She didn’t sound very truthful about it. But Kita was just a pup; you couldn’t trust a pup as far as you could toss one. The dark mokai’s tail beat on the ground a few thuds. “Promise you will tell me then…sometime? I’ll be really good then!” She didn’t understand why Reisx couldn’t tell her now, but if she said she would tell her later, then Kita would keep her to that.
Ai nodded. “I will.” She rounded Kita around, pushing her to the fence. “I’ll make sure to keep an extra eye out everywhere.” Whatever Reisx was talking about, Ai didn’t like. The likelihood of her being able to do anything was slim, so the only thing she really could do was keep an eye out for everyone.
“We better get going, before our owner finds out we are gone. Until next time, Reisx.” Ai said, grabbing Kita by her scruff.
With a small wave of her paw, Kita also said goodbye. “BYE! Don’t forget our promise!”

Reisx nodded to Ai, but knew if the others, if they had numbers, what could they all do? All Reisx could do is protect Ai and her pups, it was all she would do to make sure they were safe. She doubted that they would go after them, as Ai was her friend, had instinct, respect and a fine spirit in her 9as did Kita) but only time would tell.
As Kita called out, Reisx smiled and nodded, "Don't worry!" she replied with a smile, and watched the two go off back towards home.
Reisx watched from a distance to make sure they got back all right, and then turned for the forest, it was time she found the silhouetted other and asked questions - then it was time to settle the score.
