He hated being in bed only thing he could think about was pain, the pain and what had happened. Nurses had woken him up from his fitful sleep several times to make sure was alright, that nothing had shifted and punctured a lung.

He realized he was lucky, that they all were, but he couldn't stand it. They insisted he stay there for over night observation, and he had only stayed because between the medication and the pain, he was too exhausted to fight them. He would have fought harder for his freedom, but Luxury's comments stopped him.

so now he stared at the ceiling, waiting to be told he could go, running the fight through his head. Wishing he could have done it better, that there could have been less casualties, that everyone could have come home in victory.

There had been some sort of mission, as Cal had head it, in recent days. She hadn't gotten much information, being locked up in her room working on boring projects to pass the time when she should have been doing something more important. There was always time to stroll. To get a feel of what had happened from the people who had been on that mission. But where to check first? The first person to come to mind was Mau. Defiantly not him even if he was up to it. There was always Aila. Cal couldn't help but sigh, she was probably busy, if not hurt.

Then it caught her. There would be plenty of people in the infirmary to chat up and figure out what had gone on. She strolled over to the infirmary, a small bounce in her step thinking that she was probably too cheery to be going to the infirmary. She glanced over the names of the patients listed. Panther was being kept here so obviously he was hurt. Cal frowned, shifting to look down the hallway where he stayed. Hopefully nothing serious...

"Panther?" She glanced into his room, "Are you awake?" She sauntered in to his bedside. "I hope I'm not intruding or anything... Are you alright?" She offered him a clam smile while looking over his injuries.

"I'm fine, go away Damn it!" He sat up growled grumpily, holding at his chest before he saw who it was. "Oh Cal?" his body worked against him, and he coughed a little from the pain of excitement before managing to fight it back down.

"Cal..." his voice suddenly carried relief and he relaxed back into the bed. It was good to see her. Suddenly another explosion flashed through his thoughts, one older then the one that haunted him now. "I..." he couldn't finish the thought, but didn't have to, as another wave of pain shot through his chest. He simply winced instead.

She flinched slightly hearing the anger in his voice. There was little cheer in the air, if not none at all. Cal didn't feel it was of any use to make some smart comment about his injuries or tease him about being bed ridden. She never did like the hospital. "Yep, just me." She shrugged, placing her hand on the cool sheets. She looked him over warily, only being able to guess his injuries.

"What happened?" Couldn't keep the frown from her lips, "You don't look fine." She looked gave him a questionable glance when he didn't finish his thought. "You what?" She gave a little smile, "You're happy to see me?" Maybe it would take that painful look in his eyes.

Someone came in the door with out so much as a knock. For a moment he thought is was one of the nurses. He looked a little different without his sunglasses, younger perhaps, with very expressive green eyes that had a light in them. But at the moment that light of mischief was hard to see clouded by pain.

He took a ragged breath "It was hell, worst then the party." that same pain was clear in his voice. The unleash of the legendaries, the running, false adrenaline shot through him. "They say I broke a few ribs. I'm lucky I didn't puncture a lung they said." he stared at the blankets. He wanted to smile, to tell her it was alright, that he was alright, but they weren't alright.

"Is that it?" She smile, "You'll be back on your feet in no time! I doubt this would stop you." It was nice to be able to look into Panther's eyes for a change. They were a calming green, though they still looked troubled. "Is something else wrong?" She hesitantly patted his hand trying to coax the words out that he didn't wish her to hear.

She wanted to know all about the mission. Was there excitement? Had they seized any pokemon to bring back for study? Her very being itched to know, but she didn't want him excited all over again to break a stick or harm himself further. That look in his eyes stuck her as odd and she couldn't shrug the feeling.

He tried to smile at her; it barely tugged at his mouth, and the creases of pain around his jaws clenched at it, hiding it away. It never made it to his eyes. "I hope so. I don't want to stay here." he hated being kept in a room, but the door wasn't locked. He could escape, if he could walk more then a few feet at a time.

his vision swam and he clenched at the covers. "I wasn't the only one hurt... both Kunai and Nxy were knocked out..." what details could he give? The important ones? They would need to be told to an elite... one of the uninjured must have been grilled by now. "But we did manage to save the world from being rewritten." he managed to smile this time, looking her in the eyes.

She smiled with a nod. "I know how you feel." She remembered all to well the feeling of being stuck in a hospital bed. She traced the scar over her eye slowly as she thought. "I'll take you somewhere where you can feel the sun and see the land for miles around." She hoped that would lighten the mood.

When it came to the injuries of the elites, she cringed. "Nothing too serious, right?" That was good. Everyone seemed to be recovering nicely. "Ah, so the Galactics were planning something like that? Who would have thought..." She watched his forced smile, looking into his eyes. "Do you need the doctor?" She worried over him, looking at the machines that monitored him.

She knew how he felt, of course she did. That helped. she had been through some of the worst too.

But her response to the elites did not. "No, they are not ok." It wasn't ok. nothing was ok. They won, but they lost. Tears stung his eyes. "I don't need a doctor." No doctor could help what hurt most.

"Oh...." Cal looked around the room, grabbing the closest chair in sight and dragging it across the room to Panther's side. It made a horribly painful sound, akin to that of nail scraping across a chalkboard. She winced the whole duration before sitting. "Sorry about that... She looked away, a little embarrassed and her mood slowly deteriorating.

She felt there might be something more. "Is there something you're not telling me?" She inched closer, "They'll be alright, right?" She sighed as she picked at the sheets.

The sound made him wince, and try to duck. he closed his eyes as if an explosion had on off and his hands tightened. It took him a moment to realize there was no gust of wind, no pieces of glass or cement flying. he was ok, no one else was going to die.

"I made sure everyone was on the ship, we had everyone, we were treating what we could, but... we lost agent Alia on the way home." His shoulders shook. It was hard to say it, hard to admit the lost out loud. He had little love for the girl, no, agent, but she had died protecting a team member.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 12, 2011 11:13 pm

"Lost?...." The one corner of the girl's face rose with a pressed smile. "You couldn't have gotten everyone on if you lost Aila." She shook her head with that same subtle smirk. "Is that what's bothering you? I bet she's on her way back now. If she isn't here already." Aila was a big girl and could take care of herself. It was surprising that the team would leave a man behind. Or maybe she had been captured.

But... That wasn't quite it. The way he said it sounded... Odd. Panther seemed to shake with regret and loss. Loss? Her face fell slightly, confused at this situation.

"No Cal, she won't becoming back." his ribs hurt as tears streamed down his face. he held them trying to reduce pain. "She died, probably from internal injuries." he gasped, knees coming up involuntarily. no matter how he fought them the tears kept coming. He hurt, they lost an agent, they had won, but it sure didn't feel like it.

She uttered a curt laugh. This wasn't something to joke about, anyone would know that. Who would have that sick sense of humor to joke about this? She furrowed her brow, ready to give Panther a piece of her mind when she noticed the tears streaming down his cheeks. He couldn't be serious.... Aila couldn't really have.... She watched him as he sobbed, still in shock, feeling a bit numb.

How long had it been since she saw Aila? It was.... When she asked for Revenant's DNA. She didn't even give her the egg properly. She never really thanked her. And now.... This? She was more than just an acquaintance. She liked to consider them friends. But she was.... A single tear slid down her cheek. She touched it with a smile, looking at Panther as if he wasn't there.

The tears fell from her face freely now. She hiccuped, covering the onslaught of with her hands. She buried her face into Panther's hospital bed, letting her tears stain the sheets.

He stayed like that for minutes, maybe hours, he didn't know. What he did know what that when he regained his senses, there as a crying Cal on his bed. "I'm sorry." he slipped form the covers and then bent down beside her wrapping his arms around her, not caring that it hurt like hell.

"Most everyone was injured. A few weren't, but a lot were. Nyx was shot, Kunai was shot, but we saved the world. I know it sounds ridiculous but we saved the world, if we hadn't done what we did, who we have left might not even exist." oh Arceus, he sounded like he was insane, didn't he. He felt insane, maybe it wasn't real, maybe it didn't happen, maybe there wasn't a body in the medics ward.
