Sera entered the large empty house after returning from the bathes and took a quick nap, she was eager to begin but she needed at least some of her strength back before she did.

Sera got up and went down seating herself at the table she unrolled the scroll and began to read, there a note next to the seal she would use to summon the scrolls one at a time to teach her the jutsus of her father the scroll read: "Dear one, I am sorry I am not here to present this to you myself, but your mother and I are away often, and I did not want this to have to wait any longer. You are a strong child and this is my gift to you, more then any Kekkei Genkai this is my legacy I offer to you. Shortly after I became a Chunin I was made an Onin, a great honor; the entire thing was much like a game of track, trap and eliminate, as I have often told you. But as time wore on I found myself put off by the amount of blood that stained my hands, and in time I returned and used my skill in chakra control towards healing, in the hope I can at least save as many lives as I have taken before I pass on. I never wanted such a life for you my darling child, but I also raised you to make up your own mind and I will not take that away from you. Before I was a medic I was a specialist, I worked on barriers and seals used to trap and contain those I would later kill. Those jutsus are something I was taught and many I wrote myself, I offer them to you in the hopes you will be able to use them as an alternative to killing, and if that is not possible that you will at least use them to keep yourself alive.
Prepare your writing desk, and concentrate some chakra into your blood before adding a few drops to your ink before you begin. The chakra cost will be paid now when you set the seal, and you can use the seals with only a spark of chakra later on.
When your mother and I return I will be thrilled to see what you have learned.
PS. After you have finished learning a scroll, burn it. Any knowledge you wish to pass on you will teach directly or write the scrolls yourself from here on. Good Luck, my darling daughter."

Quote: Sera set her table and picked up the brush in her left, her fingers bunched a the top in the more traditional hand position, her right holding the air where her sleeve would have dragged if she wore more then the traditional kunochi outfit. Dipping her brush into the ink she began to write glancing back to the scroll occasionally to make sure she had the characters right; when she was finally satisfied she lifted the scrap of paper and set it on her hand, immediately she felt it begin to grow warm, but all too soon it was too hot and she tore the seal away. The heat stopped immediately and the seal hung in her hand, empty, despite the time it would have lasted if left on. .:':. Heat Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Sera started to throw out the now useless scrap of paper and instead hesitated burning it in the small brazier she had along with the scroll it had come from. The last thing she needed was someone learning these techniques by having the opportunity to experiment with the old seals. She scrawled the second on in her perfect hand writing and this time she was wiser then to set it to her skin, she placed it on her glass of water, which grew cold and when a thin layer of ice formed on the surface she removed it setting it and the scroll aside to burn. .:':. Cool Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: The third seal came with an explanation and she wrote it up quickly before hesitating. Apparently it was used to silence, she set the seal to her lips and then tried to scream but no sound came out not matter what attempts she made, even when she clapped her hands no sound was made apparently it effect her entire body. She smiled this one might be quite useful in times to come. .:':. Silence Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: After tossing the last two sets of used seals and scrolls into the fire she started on the next, she wrote carefully and then set it on the table. Soft whispers started to emanate from the seal, but no matter how hard she tried to listen they never became any clearer. Finally removing the seal the sound stopped and she tossed it and the scroll into the fire. .:':. Whisper Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Since a seal only effect the object or area it was set on barriers were a combination of multiple seals to cover a specific area. She nodded and read further, the writing was almost identical to the one for the seals, but a small tag at the end offered a way for it to link to it's sisters. She set the tag aside without making enough for a barrier, there were several barriers on the list and she would prefer to practice with one of those rather then the heat one which so quickly had become too much. .:':. Heat Barrier .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Sera burnt the previous scroll and unused seal before turning to the next scroll which as she suspected was another barrier. This time however it was a Cool barrier, a more advanced step of the Seal, the note mentioned that if a cool barrier was layered over a heat barrier or visa versa the temperature would remain a the level of the barrier with the lead since they escalated in temperature at the same rate. But should one be removed the full force the other would be felt and possibly be very detrimental to the one inside. .:':. Cold Barrier .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Burning the seal and paper Sera glanced at the next barrier, the Silence barrier was different from the seal that shared it's name. Rather then silencing what was within the barrier it blocked sounds from escaping, a very useful barrier for when things needed to be discussed in silence. She made eight seals for this one and set them around the room, just to make sure no one would hear her if she started muttering to herself or yelling and cursing. .:':. Silence Barrier .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Burning the scroll for the Silence Barrier Sera started on the Whisper barrier, true to it's name it did the same as the seal. Only the barrier whispered from the outside only, those inside the barrier could hear normal sounds rather then those of the false whispers. She smiled but all that sound from a single girl home alone would be more suspicious then the silence so she didn't set up the whisper barrier over the silence barrier. .:':. Whisper Barrier .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Sera looked at the next one and smiled, she almost remembered it from when she was little. Her father had done something to make her a nightlight that sat on her bedside, but she had never known quite how until now, the next seal once made glowed softly until it was removed, the not recommended attaching it to something that could be moved, to maintain it's function. .:':. Light Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: As with all things in nature every thing had it's opposite and opposite the light seal was one for darkness that created shadows that fell almost like the light did, radiating out from a central point. She tossed the light seals and scroll into the fire, and contemplated the uses of a darkness seal, it would make it easier to have a fire on missions hiding the light of it, except to do so she would have to set the seal on the fire and it would burn ending it's power. .:':. Darkness Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Sera's eyes widened at the next jutsu, she was entering into what could almost be considered forbidden jutsu. By tampering with someone's memories and mind was one of the greatest violation of human will, but this seal was very weak, it could be broken by anyone or anything that could trigger a memory in the seal's mind or if the seal were removed from the target. But still the potential for such a thing if expanded upon was enough to make Sera's hand shake as she wrote out and the seal, and until she calmed down she was not able to correctly write the characters. .:':. Memory Altering Justu (Mass Cover with Trigger) .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: Sera burned the last seal with no little hurry along with the scroll that had held it's secret. Looking at the last, it was not a seal in and of itself but more of a border to fit around a seal that made the seal once set sticky and that much harder if not impossible to remove. She smiled that way it would have to be burned a task not always easily accomplished if one cared about the object it was attached to. .:':. Sticky Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: She burnt the seal and scroll and smiled at the description of the next seal. This Numbing seal had been her father's first foray into the healing arts, and given time he saw the amount of good relieving someone else's pain could bring. She smiled as she gracefully crafted the characters and knew she wouldn't want to burn this one, even if she must. .:':. Localized Numbing Seal .:':. 1/1 .:':.Quote: With no little remorse she burned the numbing seal and the scroll that had taught it to her. Turning to the next one she found another barrier, one could pass into the barrier but could not leave it once inside, the seals remained on the outside and all that was thrown at the barrier physical or ninjutsu was bounced right back. The only way to break the seal was to overwhelm it or have someone from the outside removed the seals and disrupt it. .:':. Introverted Reflective Barrier .:':. 1/1 .:':.

Quote: Sera leaned back wanting to stretch her poor tight body, she had been hunched over her desk for hours now, what seemed like simple writing was proving to be much more difficult. She picked up the six seals she had managed to make and took a deep breath and headed into her bedroom, one of the only rooms big enough to set the barrier that was still hidden within the house. She set the seals around the room and kneeling in the center she set the last seal in place. .:':. Lock Down .:':. 1/3 .:':.Quote: Her entire body shook as she tried to hold the threads of power in place, there was not even others in the circle fighting her and the flow of chakra through the seal was uneven and threatened to break at any moment. Gasping for breath she knuckled down even further and dug in her heels to maintain control over the network of threads, she had never before had to control so many fluctuating points. Trying to relax and calm her mind she managed to focus well enough to maintain her tenuous control and still unwind the tensions of her body. .:':. Lock Down .:':. 2/3 .:':.Quote: Once she managed to physically relax she simply needed to relax her mind, as hard as it was when she felt as if a moment's loss of concentration would cost her the barrier. But once she relaxed her hold the threads still shifted under her focus but soon enough they settled and she was able to maintain them. But all too soon, she would have people fighting the barrier, and that would be another matter entirely. .:':. Lock Down .:':. 3/3 .:':.

Quote: Sera had to climb the walls to get the seals up where she needed them for this particular barrier to work. She climbed back down carefully and settled herself at last on the floor setting the last seal in place. Closing her eyes she emersed herself into the barrier, letting the power flow through her into the seal. .:':. Introverted Light Barrier .:':. 1/3 .:':.Quote: The barrier was thin in places and thick in others, she could immediately see far too many flaws for her liking. Carefully feeding and shaping the barrier Sera managed to stablize it, but the moment she withdrew the barrier collapsed again. Sighing Sera settled herself down to redraw the seals, which should be able to support themselves without her help. .:':. Introverted Light Barrier .:':. 2/3 .:':.Quote: The brush moved and Sera had to concentrate on the delicate movements required both of the brush and her chakra as she fed it into the seal. Piece by piece she worked the seals into a seeming whole, and then the last, her keystone she took extra care to make more stable. Setting the barrier she found the room cheerily lit, and stepping outside the barrier it was as dark as the night outside the windows. .:':. Introverted Light Barrier .:':. 3/3 .:':.Quote: The barrier wavered after a few minutes and Sera sighed taking the seals down. Turning back to the desk she began to realize how difficult the mastery of this skill would be and what a true treasure she father had given her. Closing her eyes she raised the brush above the slip of paper, and every so carefully let her hand begin the seals, slowly her body moved but inside her chakra shaping was swift. .:':. Extroverted Light Barrier .:':. 1/3 .:':.Quote: With each smooth move of her hand inside Sera's mind plucked threads and wove them into the seals, compacting a long series of hand signs and the power inherently held in them into a few lines of ink. Bindings upon bindings she wove the power in over and around the far simpler illustrations. When she finally stopped she was tired but before her sat a seal, at least a hundred times better then her last. .:':. Extroverted Light Barrier .:':. 2/3 .:':.Quote: She set her brush to paper again and going as slow as needed she carefully crafted the next set of seals. Six for the perimeter and then the ground for the center, took Sera the better part of an house, but the last took almost half the time of the first despite the higher complexity. She erected the barrier and smiled, the light was dim and wavered but the barrier held. .:':. Extroverted Light Barrier .:':. 3/3 .:':.

Live a life in the shadows. Shira knocked at the door, she knew the parents were out, but for a moment she had seen a light in the upper room windows before it had snuffed out. Strangely enough it was not like a candle and had shown more like sunlight, but looking up at the moon, that was impossible. Die a death still in darkness.

Live a life in the shadows. Shira eyed the girl speculatively, she didn't appear to be much, but she had come highly recommended. "You are needed in a healer's stead. You have a quarter hour to pack for a stay of undetermined length, in the presence of high ranking officials. Prepare what materials you have, and meet me here as soon as you are done." Seeing the look on the girl's face Shira's heart warmed at the stoic look on her face, "And don't worry, so far as I know, your parents are fine. This is another matter entirely. You would do well to hurry child. You represent your village in this mission." Die a death still in darkness.

.:':.Seraphene Kangosetsu Doku.:':. <115/115 Chakra> <Uninjured> Sera relaxed grateful it was not because of her parents and hurried to do as she was bidden. She packed all of her formal kimonos, as well as a few of her lighter summer dresses, and a few changes of her kunochi's uniform. Underthings, brushes, her bladed hair pins, and her fans were all packed quickly and efficiently, she packed her balms, salves, and everything she would need to tend herself during a long stay before tucking what healing supplies she had into the pack among the clothes to keep them cushioned and safe. She finished with a small wallet and threw the bag onto her shoulders before running down the stairs and into the kitchen, she grabbed the lunch she had packed for tomorrow's training session and two small bottles of water. She returned to the Jounin in the living room bowing low before offering her one of the water bottles, "Here. I have a lunch as well and I am ready." .:':.Pack.:':. .:':.Blank Talismans, Dried ink, brush, kimonos, dresses, spare kunochi uniforms, brushes, feminine care products, lotions, balms, shoes, weighted bladed fans, bladed hair pins, wallet.:':. .:':.Carried.:':. .:':.Her pack.:':. .:':.On Person.:':. .:':.10 Kunai, 40 Throwing Stars.:':.

Live a life in the shadows. Shira almost smiled at the girl but kept a straight face accepting the water and checking it for poisons before taking a drink. She took the girl's pack, "You will be hard pressed enough to keep up with me. Let me carry it and prepare for a long hard run." She turned and left for the gates. Die a death still in darkness.
