The residential district is the section of Kirigakure that contains most of the housing for the village. Its streets are wide, though canals run down their centers; boats are used as a frequent mode of transportation for the citizens of the village and tourists alike. This does not serve to slow the flow of traffic; however, as the streets on either side of the canal are still wide enough to accommodate large crowds without any stress to the infrastructure. Bridges link the streets, though some buildings can only be reached by water, their entrances being connected directly to docks. There is much greenery here, as cattails grow in the shallows while ivy crawls up the sides of buildings. In certain areas the trees have grown out over the canals, creating a sort of tunnel for the boater.
