Hel understood a time for grieving and a time for rest…but for a valkyrie, it was to be done and over with quickly. You know what was starting to frustrate the reaper? How hesitant a lot of her friends were to leap into training, sparring and battling. Didn’t they know they couldn’t get better unless they trained? Sitting around lamenting and hesitating would not help, and only battling ‘when it was necessary’ obviously wasn’t cutting it. Well…Hel was about to start doing something about it…one student at a time.
She happened to have crossed the Lycan on a stroll around the campus, and was rather happy to see Mitsu. After exchanging the usual pleasantries, inquiring as to how she and Shun were feeling, especially after the field trip, the reaper now had the ghoul by the wrist and was leading her off somewhere.
“Ah, we'll be there soon, friend…”

Mitsu didn't know what to make of Hel's sudden interest to take her somewhere but the lycan followed all the same. "You still haven't told me where we are going yet." Mitsu said curiously seeing that they were still on school grounds. Hel had a firm hold of her wrist too, like she didn't want her to get away. Or maybe she was just over enthused about where they were going.
That was when she spotted the gym in the distance and her ears perked curiously before they folded back. "W...we're not going to watch people fight are we?" It was nerve wracking to watch sparring, Mitsu kept waiting for someone to be badly injured.

“We’ll be there soon enough…” When the gym came into sight, Hel didn’t really bother trying to butter up the Lycan anymore. She had the ghoul in firm hold, she wasn’t going anywhere.
The reaper glanced back at Mitsu. Heh…”Ah no…we’re not.” She assured, her tone rising a bit as she opened the door to the gym, and pulled the ghoul into it. As luck would have it, it was empty at the moment…and that worked more then fine for Hel. She continued to pull the Lycan until they stood in the middle of the gym, and once they were there, she let her go, and placed her hands on her hips as she turned to regard her. The ghoul’s expression turned stern, her tone authoritative. “You and I are battling.”

Okay so they weren't going to the gym to watch people fight. That was a relief, but why were they heading in this direction. Maybe there was clean up that needed done? Mitsu didn't mind helping out.
When Hel first pushed open the doors to the gym Mitsu was greeted to the fact that....it was empty. Devoid of people and the tents that had been there after the field trip. Why were they here then. Her tail began to anxiously sway behind her as Hel dragged her to the middle of the gym until she finally came to a stop and released her. As the reaper's expression changed Mitsu couldn't have guessed the next words out of her mouth.
OAO
"W...what? Battle? Y-you...me? B..but....."

“Yes. Battle.” Hel reaffirmed, staring the Lycan down now. The reaper was expecting hesitation, so she was prepared. From what she could briefly recall of their experiences in battle during the trip…while Mitsu had been there at their side…she hardly attacked…with the exception of the head false reaper. But still…they needed to work on this. “We need to train to become stronger, Mitsu. There’s only one day to do that…and simply, it’s this.”
Hel tilted her head, looking down at the Lycan through a speculative, lidded gaze. “You want to become stronger, don’t you? Protect those who matter?”

Suddenly Mitsu began to shift uncomfortably wondering if it was too late to run. Her eyes kept darting to the door thinking it really wasn't that far.
Hel's words though, they hit her hard. Her ears fell back as she shyly turned her attention to the ground. "I..I do. I want to protect my friends."

Why was Hel about to take a sudden, harsh turn with the sweet ghoul?
Because someone had to.
While she was sure there were quite a few people who would not approve (i.e. Shun and Mot) of what she was about to do…Hel personally felt it needed to be done. The reapers were coddling her (Shun especially). This she had noted to herself during their field trip, and it needed to change. The Lycan needed to be capable on her own. Thus, Hel decided to take it upon herself to help push her along…in the worse way possible. Mitsu needed to be pushed…and she needed to be pushed hard.
The reaper quickly shifted around the Lycan, blocking the ghoul’s view of the door. “Looking at the exit, Mitsu?” Hel taunted, “Only cowards do that.” She sneered. “If you want to protect your friends, then you need to battle me. Right now.”

As soon as Hel stepped in front of her view of the door Mitsu swallowed hard her ears falling back. "C..coward?" That word, it hurt. It hurt deeply. Was she a coward? She had faced some dangers though mostly unwillingly. Admittedly she didn't jump headlong into danger.
"I..I...." She was still hesitant but she was no longer looking at the door, instead her focus was on the reaper. It didn't look like she was ready to fight though. Her stance was still rather introverted.

Still hesitating to lash out, huh? Hel still had more words to roll out at her then.
“Mitsu, if you keep standing there like that, you won’t help anyone!” Hel started to move in closer to the ghoul, her lips pulling a bit into a wicked smile. Oh…this was going to be such a low blow…and she knew it. Shun was going to make sure her Fear particles wouldn’t come back together for weeks if he knew about this! “You know…maybe if you had been more courageous during that battle…” Ooooh sweet merciful Sally, even Hel couldn’t but internally cringe at this one. “Maybe if you had done more, Shun wouldn’t have been injured so badly.”

That smile on Hel's face looked cruel, it reminded her of a smile she had seen on someone else....or maybe it was from a dream? Either way it made Mitsu take a step back, now leery as the reaper strolled closer.
Her words though, they cut even deeper than the last. Mitsu could feel her heart just come to a stop in her chest and she clutched the fabric of her shirt until it started again. Her own doubt took over, there could have been more she could have done, she could have helped him, saved him, but instead he had been blinded and had his hearing taken from him.
Mitsu could already feel the tears stinging the corner of her eyes as she reached out to push Hel back. "NO!" No what? No it wasn't her fault? Or no she didn't want to do this? Either way she had initiated something.

Hel was now grinning as Mitsu shoved her backwards.
Oh…how wonderful…she was lashing out now.
“No, what, Mitsu?” Hel echoed, lunging forward suddenly to strike at the Lycan with a fist. “You don’t want to be useless, do you? So start doing something about it!” The reaper was pleased as she felt her fist connect somewhere upon the ghoul. “If you want to protect your friends, than you need to take action! You can’t just keep standing around and hoping things will work out! Don’t leave actions to fate when you can have a say in them!”

Mitsu knew as soon as she shoved the other ghoul it was on. It was too late to turn back now, especially when Hel managed to nail her in the shoulder with a fist. Mitsu's heart was pounding in her chest as she staggered back, bringing her arms up like Shun taught her so that she could block.
"I..I don't want to be useless, but you don't always have to fight." There was a feeling swimming in the back of Mitsu's mind, an anger that was brewing. She had felt it before when she learned that Mot had been hurt and who had been responsible. The lycan had lost control then and feared losing control now. "I don't want to fight you Hel." Instead of striking the lycan held her defensive stance ready to block.

Hel leapt a bit away from the Lycan, cracking her knuckles as she grinned.
“No, you don’t always have to fight.” Hel agreed, as if she might be seeing some of Mitsu’s side…but she really wasn’t. “But this, Mitsu, is not one of those times!” The reaper hissed. “You think fighting isn’t an option with the false reapers? Think again! I don’t care if you don’t want to or not, Mitsu.” The reaper lunged at the Lycan again, sweeping her foot around rather quickly to try and break the impressive block Mitsu had set up.
“You have no choice. If you don’t battle me, you won’t leave here.”

Thankfully the lycan was on guard, as Hel made a sweep for her legs Mitsu was able to block. It worked too and quickly after Mitsu jumped back and out of the way.
Mitsu didn't understand what had come over Hel. She had never been like this before. So pushy, much like a bully. It hurt that her friend would do this to her, especially all of a sudden. True Mitsu knew she needed to train but being thrown into the fire like this.
"Hel, please just stop." The lycan reached out to push the ghoul back again hoping to keep some distance between them. As far as attacks Shun hadn't worked with her well on that yet. Mostly just blocking to defend herself.

Hel was pushed back once more, and even the ghoul’s pleading would not sway her.
The reaper held out a hand, summoning her spear. Hel twirled it before pointing it threateningly at the Lycan. “You don’t always have to fight, but now is not one of those times. Mitsu! You are of Halloween! You are practically frightened of your own shadow and you’re refusing to stand up for yourself! How can humans take you seriously? How can they be frightened when you just want to keep running away?”
The ghoul lunged at the Lycan once more, swinging her spear at her.
