"This way!" Maori called. It was dusk already, and the sky was starting to darken, the further up it got, with only a soft blue glow on the horizon. It wouldn't make any difference to Maori or her new friend, however. The leopardess was practically a creature of the night herself, and she could pick her way easily through the crowded, pitch black jungle.

She lead Aureo down that worn little pathway, and the brush got thicker and thicker on either side of them the farther in they went. It started to tilt downwards a little, winding around trees, and a couple of times it went underneath massive gnarled roots. Soon, the amount vegetation seemed to lighten again, and Maori darted out into a clearing. The sound of rushing water could be heard up ahead.

"We're almost there. I can hear it!" she said, her voice light and happy as she bounded through the clearing.

Aureo walked around, looking at the sights in amusements. He would never be able to see anything like this again. While he was staying here he would be sure to go exploring ever opportunity he got. He could hear the water rushing down. Water was his favorite thing about the world. He especially loved swimming in it.

"You are really lucky to live here." he noted as they walked. He couldn't imagine waking up everyday to the beauty of the jungle and the excitement from the dangers of it. He would of course get tired of it after a while, but because of the excitement he would be entertained for sometime.

"I was wondering is the river deep enough to swim in because after that fall I could sure use a quick dive in some water." he said with a laugh remembering his fall. He would be sure not to try and climb up any more trees like that any time soon. Though knowing Aureo he would try again sooner than later just to make sure it wasn't a one time thing. He thought it would be fun jumping from tree to tree like leopards do.

"It's a lovely place, and since it's so close to the plains it doesn't rain quite as much as it would in the deep jungle." she explained, bouncing happily through the grass, and back into a brushy area where the trees shaded everything and vines hung overhead. The path dipped down, and the ground was noticeably damp and cool. "It gets a bit steep here, do watch your step." she glanced back to check, before making her way down.

"Oh, of course! There are several deeper spots that I know of. But this here," she said, as they emerged onto the riverbank, "is where I like to fish!" she laughed as she stepped down the bank and carefully waded in, feeling the mud and leaf debris under her paws and between her toes. It was a shallower area, slow flowing, a good spot to catch fish. The water level was almost up to her belly.

"It gets deeper downstream. Shall we walk down and have a swim?" she asked, grinning. The water did feel awfully nice in the humid warmth of the night. She dipped her head down to lap some of it up.

He tried to walk gracefully, something his parents tried to instill in him when he was younger. Despite how good he was of a fighter in his old pride, he wasn't quite that good of a walker, especially when he had to walk and talk. He took a moment to look around. The smell of the water cooled him. It was purely relaxing here. He carefully made his way to the riverbank.

"Fish look nice and taste." he said licking is maw and taking a couple playful strikes at them with his paw. "Would you like me to catch you a fish or two? I've never caught fish before so it will be a fun experience for me." he said with a innocent smile. He had always caught big game, that's what his family expected of him and so he did it. It was one habit he couldn't break from his old life.

"I can take a swim after we eat. Filling our stomachs is much more important than playing around in the water. Plus I'm sure you don't want me swimming where you hunt. I might scare away all the fishes from coming over here." He said with a laugh. He would miss this. Having company was something he missed as a travler. Sure he got to see lots of new sites, but he never had a chance to connect to another creature like this.
