The air was alive with excitement this morning as Warwick walked beside his human along the street. Castiel had woken up with a spring in his step. Practically leaping out of bed as he dressed in the middle of the small, drafty room in an ensemble that Wick had never seen before. Finely pressed and free of wrinkles, they were different from the weathered clothing of the average day-to-day.

Something's up.

Maybe his attire had something to do with why Cas had spent several hours polishing every inch of metal on the instrument--that Warwick now knew as a guitar--he carried around with him the night before.

Whatever it was the dark colored Mokai could feel the change in his owner's usual laidback energy. As they walked Castiel barely touched the cinnamon-sugar sprinkled croissant in his hand. His eyes held a far away look to them while he hummed a tune contemplatively--as if trying to memorize the notes. Figuring out the strange quirks of his new human was a challenge, but Warwick didn't particularly mind.

He did hope they reached their destination soon though. Mouth watering around the sweet pastry he carried in his jaws. Normally they would have settled on a street corner by now to set up for the morning and he'd have time to eat at his leisure. But. Castiel was full of surprises.

Who knew what he had planned for the day.

"Freedom!" She barked as she went sprinting away from her home, well it was more like Dorian had opened the door and she went racing for it. Of course Dorian had expected it and leaned down, snagging her collar and attaching her leash. It had startled her and she gave a whine at her displeasure. "Dorian..." She whimpered, "Why the leash, I won't run off. I swear!" She lied, of course he wouldn't hear her, only the sounds she made.

The human patted her on the head and ran a hand through her fur. He was wearing one of his more casual dress shirts, a bit more mucky than the usual gold and blue vests he had. Today it was a mostly brown day it seemed for Dorian. "Stay Erebus." He called back to her father, not that he was going anywhere.

Now she was tugging on the leash, and she was strong, trying to get Dorian to go. Who was having trouble locking up his home before he was almost dragged into the street and into Castiel and Warwick.

Warwick had been watching the pair since the door had first opened. Head canting in amusement at the wiry puppy that refused to hold still for her master, which was apparently giving him grief as he attempted closing up the house. Wick couldn't remember ever being that excited as a pup, but then there hadn't been a whole lot to get excited about back in the Compound. These days he tended to show more enthusiasm for the life he lived with his human, but still...

Musing quietly at her lack of manners on the leash he was almost glad Castiel had never bothered with that mess. He probably couldn't afford one, but Warwick had never given him much need for one either. There seemed to be a mutual understanding between them as it was. Cas had invited the cull into his life, but there was nothing keeping him there. He could have left whenever he wanted.

Why would I though? He's the best thing that ever happened to me. With a pondering glance the saddled Mokai gazed up at his owner, oblivious to his surroundings. It would have been Wick's wish not to disturb him from where ever Castiel was trapped in his own mind, but as the over-enthusiastic puppy tugged her owner along they were headed straight for a collision.

s**t! What do I do? Barking was an option, but only if he was willing to drop his breakfast. A hungry stomach growled in protest of the idea. Unfortunately, Warwick couldn't think of a better idea and he was quickly running out of time. Damnit, Castiel! Look out!

Dropping the croissant a sharp bark beckoned the musician's attention, though it seemed to be the restraining hold the cull had on the back of his pants that finally woke Castiel from his daydreaming. "Warwick! What's your problem?!"

"Ugh..." Dorian groaned as Nefertari pulled him so hard that he crashed to his knees and lost the handle of the leash. There she went blindly running at Warwick and Castiel. What a terrible moment. Dorian was sure his reputation was slowly going down. Even Erebus didn't have this much energy as a pup. Where did she get it all from. Dusting off the dirt he got up and walked over, grabbing the leash. "Sorry." He gave an apologetic smile, "Nef, stop it." Yanking just barely on the leash.

"HI!" Barked the little pup, "I'm Nefertari, what's your name?" Though she was listening to her human now she was still bouncing in place. "Sorry, I was just so excited. Dorian's finally taking me out for a walk instead of me sneaking out and seeing the world. Too bad my dad isn't coming along. He's getting left to guard the house. Not to sure why though, not like Dorian has anything of value." The pup gave a sort of sly look that said she had gotten into and probably broke most of the valuables. "What are you and the two-legger doing?"

Sent went to try and jump at the cull but Dorian pulled her back, now more in control of the situation.

The scene was slowly coming into focus as Castiel stared down at the yapping puppy standing before him. Several feet away was its owner, struggling to collect the remnants of his dignity as he picked himself up off his knees. It was a little too late to do anything to help now, but at least he hadn't made the situation worse by crashing into them. "Thanks Wick."

With an appreciative pat to the cull's shoulder he relieved his companion of duty, allowing Warwick's teeth to release their hold on Castiel's pants. Tail wagging cautiously. He had tried to warn him vocally, but the dreamy-minded musician had been too last to hear him, thankfully he didn't seem upset now. Brown eyes flicking to the the ball of energy before them with a cant of his head. There sure were a lot of puppies running around lately. Eehh.. War... Warwick.

He tried to slip his name in between breaths as the motor-mouthed pup went on at a mile a minute. She certainly was excited, wasn't she? One would have thought her owner never took her out for walks. Blinking a he tried to digest all the information she had slapped him with right off the bat for a moment Wick could simply stare at her.

"Oh, hey. I'm fine.. you're the one that took a fall. You okay?" Blue eyes questioned earnestly, attempting to make amends for not reacting more quickly. Cas felt like an a** for simply standing there, staring blankly at the scene from his state of confusion. "Sorry I wasn't more help.. kinda got a lot on my mind today."

Tilting his head to watch the pair of humans mingle, Warwick finally settled in, sitting on his haunches now that the anxiousness Castiel wore all morning had faded. I'm not sure.. he didn't say. Where ever it is must be important though. He seems excited.

Giving his human a thoughtful look his gaze dropped back to the pup, Nefer--something, she had said her name was? She'd been speaking so quickly he'd barely been able to catch the mouthful. You don't go out for walks very often, do you?

She pounced at him as he asked her if they went on walks. Trying to get at his ears and tail like the tiny little beast she was. Playing was the most fun and the best past time. Though sometimes it irritated her father to no end, which made it that much more fun. "I do I do I do." She spat out as she nibbled on the furs of his tail. "How come you're not on a leash? Why do you look so skinny? You taste funny." She stated all in a matter of moments.

"Oh I'm ok. She does this more often than I can count. Honestly, she's more of a handful than her father was at her age. I'm worried she won't grow out of it. Don't apologize, it was my fault for not having a handle on her." Dorian grinned sheepishly, running a hand through his blond hair.

Nef bounded away from him and tried to circle Castiel, only succeeding in wrapping her leash around the man. Dorian giving her the most sever look he could as he tried to untangle the other male from the mess. Apologizing for the trouble his tiny pup was causing.

Leaning on his hind legs to avoid having his already notched ears tugged at by the hyperactive pup, Warwick watched Nefertari dance around him with wide brown eyes. He wasn't afraid as much as he was cautious of his movements around her, trying not to step on the pup despite the fact that she was constantly getting under paw. Noticing her attempts to catch his tail he bopped her head a few times playfully before allowing her to chew of the plush tuft harmlessly.

Why? Probably the opposite reason of why you're on a leash. The two-tone Mokai hummed gingerly with amusement. Adding as quickly as he could to try and keep up with the flood of questions. We don't get much to eat--maybe you shouldn't chew on me then.

Speaking of food Wick suddenly remembered the croissant he had dropped. Circling around in search of it. The pastry couldn't have wandered far, right? He was willing to share if he could find the damn thing. While distracted with the task of locating his threadbare breakfast his master was left to fend for himself against an excitable puppy. "Yeah.. I can see why you'd be concerned."

A warmth bubbled in his quiet laughter, sliding his fingers along the length of leash in order to hold it in place while he stepped one long leg after the other out of the ensnaring loop. Arctic blue eyes seemed surprised to find the crescent bun still carefully guarded in the grasp of his opposite hand, Castiel had completely forgotten about their brief stop at the corner stand. All things considered, he wasn't feeling much up to eating this morning, nodding to the sweet bread with a bob of his angular jaw. "She's cute though.. do you give her table food?"

Dorian looked at the croissant in Castiel's hand. "Not so much as give as watch her steal it. When she's good, I give it to her. She'll even do tricks for you so she can have it. I hope." the male responded, "Name's Dorian. Since we've been talking and I don't want to call you something random."

"I'm on a leash.... Oh!" The small pup exclaimed with a bark, "He trusts you. I wish Dorian trusted me." A bit disheartened. Though his response of not getting much to eat made her finally look at Warwick and his two-legger. "I'm sure Dorian would invite you guys in. He cooks great meals. Sometimes I take a tester of the food to make sure he won't die." Grinning.

"A fellow performer? Guess I should see what I'm up against." Castiel meant it in jest, naturally. Already crouching to one knee in order to get closer to the bubbly Mokai. At least she was a happy animal, Warwick rarely ever showed much enthusiasm and when he did it certainly wasn't to such extreme measures as this one. Not that Cas minded. A mild-mannered cull suited him just fine.

Tilting his head back to gaze up at his fellow blonde, the musician grinned abashedly, offering his free hand in greeting. "Dorian? Castiel... Hathaway. Always nice to meet a local."

I'm sure he trusts you with some things. Warwick assured from a few feet down the street while tracking the trail of his breakfast. He lets you wander around the house, right? So he must trust you not to use the bathroom inside.

The cull was assuming, but it certainly seemed logical enough. Her owner didn't look the sort to keep Nefertari caged in the house. With all the stories she told of her troublesome adventures, he didn't sound the sort either. A frown cut the edges of his mouth sharply when he found his croissant being munched on by a trio of Teoteo. Damnit... that was mine.

Tch, a cull's luck. Turning around to face the pup again he watched his human bending to offer their new Mokai acquaintance a treat. It was just like Castiel to give away food they couldn't afford to share and as much as Warwick wanted to be frustrated with him, he couldn't. It was that kind spirit that had taken him in, wasn't it? How could he he despise the humanity that had given him a new life? I'm sure he would like that. I don't think he's had a real meal in a long time..

Sitting beside his master Wick rested his head lightly upon the bend of a high knee. But I don't think it'll happen. We're still new here.

The gesture to pet Warwick's head was an almost unconscious one when Cas finally drew his hand back. Brushing his palm over the top of the dependable cull's fluffy head and lowered ears. A note of interest gave away the man's curiosity as quiet eyes gave Nef a thoughtful once over, she seemed too young to know anything fancy. "What sort of tricks can she do?"

Nef tilted her head, "Why not? Dorian's really really nice. Daddy told me something terrible happened to him before he came here. Fresh start. I'm sure he'll take you guys in for dinner or out or whatever. My human doesn't have a lot of friends. Just us. He gets really lonely and he's usually not this social. You're lucky." She grinned, though she wasn't paying too much attention now that the croissant was placed just in range of her mouth.

"I'll share this with you." Wagging her tail. He was skinny she noted so this food could be shared with him. Not like Dorian didn't pamper her anyway.

Dorian just shrugged. "Anything pretty much. She'll shake, sit, lay, roll. She'll even dance." He laughed. "I'm sorta new here. Troubles back on the mainland, had to get away ya know. Make a new start. This place seemed as good as any."

Warwick had trouble with that one. Trouble finding the words to explain Castiel. It was just a feeling he had about his human. As long as the cull had known him the young main lander had been struggling to pave his own way. It was hard, but he seemed to prefer not to lean on the kindness of strangers. He seems it..

Giving Nefertari's owner a side-long glance he nodded sympathetically. He could understand terrible things and needing a fresh start, tail twitching against the ground gently while Castiel played with the pup. For some reason humans seemed drawn to the novelty of small things with lots of energy and cute faces. Reassuring quietly, It's fine. You can have it.

"New? Ahh... sorry. The house and all.. I just assumed--- you seemed like a local. I've only been here a few weeks, staying at the Velvet Tower Inn.. have you heard of it?" The musician tried to break the awkwardness, feeling a bit abashed to have made an a** out of himself so soon after meeting the fellow Mokai owner. Hopefully he hadn't hit a nerve, it didn't sound like Dorian had left the main land on good terms.

Distracting himself from the social faux pas Castiel broke the flaky roll into bite-sized bits for the little pup, preparing the first piece to treat her with. A small smile forming at the thought of the little fighter prancing about to some tune only she could hear, "Hey Nef... can you dance for me?"

Even Warwick seemed intrigued, ears piquing towards the little furball. You dance?

The blond waved a hand in the air. "Its alright. Its understandable." Then he nodded at the next part, "Its a decent place to stay." Making sure to give the other a grin, people assumed things and it didn't really bother him. If they tried to dig beneath the surface and find out why he came here, well things would get ugly. "How are you liking it here? I've been here for I want to say a month."

Nef grinned at Castiel and stood on her back legs and very nearly danced. She loved it! The small pup even seemed to sing as she barked and yapped. Once she finished her little jig she dropped back into a sit and wagged her little tail. "Food?" Giving her best puppy look.

The male laughed, "Dancing and singing. I don't know where she gets it from. Though I think its time for us to finish our walk Nef. If you ever want to stop by, I'd be more than happy to let you in Castiel. I'm all for welcoming others in and hanging out." He put a free hand out to shake the other man's hand.

Glad not to have caused any offense Castiel wondered if Dorian had ever actually stayed in the Velvet Tower in. Given his brisk evaluation of it, he assumed not. Not that it wasn't a decent place to stay. It was certainly better than staying on the street and affordable for someone in his financial situation, but---his gaze lifted towards the house that the pair had left only moments earlier--it wasn't as cozy as having a real home. "It's a nice change of scenery. Don't seem any better off than I was on the mainland, but there's no going back now, heh."

Admitting awkwardly, Castiel clapped a hand over the back of his neck, rubbing at his nape. He was glad for the distraction, watching the Mokai pup bound and bark like the little ham that she was. I really can't compete with that. "I think my teeth are rotting."

Laughing at the enthusiastic Nef, a few torn bits of the sweet roll were offered to her in gratitude for the song and dance. The rest was shared with the patient Warwick who never even thought to beg for the scraps he offered Nefertari. "Here you go guys. Enjoy. I'm too anxious to ea--"

Castiel paused in mid sentence, eyes widening with horror as the musician stood suddenly. His back straightening stiffly as if a steel rod had replaced his spine. "s**t! The audition! I'm gonna be late!"

Yelping to nobody in particular the now distracted Cas shook the offered hand again abruptly. "Yea.. this was fun. Hopefully we'll meet up again some time! I gotta go... c'mon Warwick!"

A bit stunned by the sudden urgency the dark furred cull stared after his fleeing human for a moment. Someone had set a fire under his a**. Probably whatever it was that had made him such a ball of nerves earlier. The idea that even humans could get side tracked from their original tasks made Warwick grin. Picking up a quick pace to catch up once he was beckoned for, though not without calling to Nefertari. It was nice meeting you. Maybe we'll see each other again some time.
