Welcome to your one-stop shop for all the information you need to get your very own custom student! Before creating a new thread, please keep in mind the following guidelines: ● Each quest must have it's own thread. This means only ONE student per thread! (Twins are the exception though wins should be rare.)

Each section must be filled out in full (except for the Extra Credit section) in order to obtain official approval by Mischief Managed staff. You may add information that isn't requested, but you may not take away except for anything in the Extra Credit section.

Remember that Hogwarts does not generally send acceptance letters to students who live closer to another wizarding school! (Remember that there is Beauxbatons in France, Durmstrang somewhere in northern Europe, Salem in the US, an unnamed but mentioned school in Brazil, presumably schools across the Asian and African continents, and possibly others!) Please try to make sure your students are living somewhere in the UK or REASONABLY nearby at the time of their invitation. Patronus: If your character could cast a Patronus, what animal form would it take? Keep in mind this is different than a witch or wizard's possible Animagus form. One's Animagus form takes on an animal that best fits their personality, while a Patronus is something that your character feels protected by. If you answer this question you can change your mind in the future. The ability to cast a Patronus is very highly advanced magic and unlikely that a student would learn to cast it successfully while still attending Hogwarts.
Greatest Treasure: What is your character's most prized possession and why? How did they get it? Be creative -- it does not have to be a physical object. After all, sometimes wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure!
Manner of Dress: Does your character always dress neatly? Are they sloppy or messy? Describe your student's manner of dress here. Note that this is not where you describe what your student looks like.

Customs
So you have the perfect student in mind? Well here we have customs. The perfect option. There are of course still restrictions. However this is where money talks. Did you want a pureblood? Well for a price you can get one...
Prices:
Semi-Custom: 10b; You give the artist a house, gender, and inspiration; the rest is artistic freedom. (Can have edits at artist discretion)
Basic Student: 30b; Premade base lineart only; colored to your specifications. You are allowed one minor edit, such as jewelry. See customs guide for basic items.
Moderate Student: 50b; Mostly-basic lineart with one major edit, accompanied by smaller edits. Price varies with complexity.
Advanced Student: 100-500b; Multiple major edits, including hair, clothing items, etc. Price varies heavily with complexity.
Semi custom familiar: Half price of full custom; You give the artist a Species, gender, and inspiration; the rest is artistic freedom. Edits on Familiars is another 100 mil
Common Familiar Custom: 1bil; Rat, Toad, Cat, Owl

Customs are sold in slots. There will be a predetermined number of "rare blood" slots available each opening. If your quest character is already approved as that blood, you may enter them. These will incur additional costs...

Questions & Answers
Blood status?
At this time, you can have one of three blood statuses.
1.) Half-Blood/Mixedblood; common; no additional charge. Your witch or wizard is born to one or two magical parents whose blood has been mixed with muggles at some point in their lineage. It can usually be traced; if not, it is assumed that their "pedigree" is impure. There are several combinations which can qualify your student to be a half-blood; as long as your student is not a pureblood or a Muggleborn, they are considered a mixed-blood.
2.) Muggleborn; uncommon; additional charge. Your witch or wizard is born to two non-magical parents. They have magical ancestors, but these may or may not be traceable. Muggleborns have their Hogwarts acceptance letters delivered in person by a member of Hogwarts staff.
3.) Pureblood; rare; additional charge. Your witch or wizard is born to two magical parents, whose lineages consist only of magical individuals. Pureblood families are often familiar with other pureblood families. They tend to keep close tabs on their lineages to reduce the effects of inbreeding as much as possible.
Can I be a metamorphmagus/animagus/werewolf/some "hybrid" variation?
No. These "slots" will be given out through various contests, at staff's discretion.
Can I roleplay my quest character?
Yes, If it has been approved by a staff member and it is your First/ Only Character!
Who can critique my quest?
If you want ANYONE to critique your quest, set it as [OPEN]. If you want only staff to critique it, set it as [STAFF]. Staff is not responsible for hurt feelings as a result of harsh critiques if you open it to all. If things do get out of line, however, the offenders will be dealt with accordingly- so play nice!
How many quests can I have at once?
You may have THREE character quests at one time. Place these into SEPARATE threads, for critiquing purposes.
What if I win a premade character in an event and want to apply that character's image to my quest's personality?
You can! However, the premade pet and quest pet must be the same gender.
● If your quest is a "common" blood type, remove the character from the questing subforum and resubmit the character to the "Post Here Before You RP!" thread.
● If your quest is a muggleborn or pureblood, you are not eligible for this. We are sorry!
Can I quest for 2nd+ year students?
At this time, you may not quest for 2nd year plus students. All new incoming students will start at 1st year. Older years/ adults can be obtained through rp for free or by paying 500bil.(Yes...its a lot but its so we can encourage rp.)
What parts of canon exist/don't exist?
Nearly everything at Mischief Managed is congruent with the Harry Potter books. However, most canon characters DO NOT EXIST. Voldemort, Harry Potter, and Dumbledore were all fictional. We make some allowances with this- such as Ollivander's and other well-known shops in Diagon Alley- but assume that any major players in the books' plots were fictional.
Can my character's dad/mum work for the Ministry of Magic? Hogwarts? Any other major "company"?
Your character may NOT have family at Hogwarts, with the exception of siblings who do not become major characters or Adults that have been approved . Your character's parents may work at major companies, but it will be more difficult for your quest to become accepted if they are higher-up positions. Not impossible, but there must be good reason and must work with other shop canon. Sooo if you want the minister of magic to be your dad... they cant then be someone elses mom xD
Can I quest a cosplay?
Not of Harry Potter characters. Other cosplays may be dealt with individually. Post them in the quest forum and it will be addressed by staff. Generally it will be treated as the student themselves are CosplayingCan my student be related to/know any canon character?No. Some characters from the canon HP universe do not exist in MM universe, but those that do exist can't be referenced in your character's history as personal relations or acquaintances.
