(he's an adult, too lazy to update the image) Yggdrasil liked to wander in his waterbuck form. It was easier to interact with more of the creatures that lived in the Woods around the savanna (well, what woods there were), and honestly, explaining the whole wings and horns on a lion from was annoying.
He emerged from the protection of the woods to a large river, feeling thirsty as he watched the power of the river sweep twigs and leaves downstream. He knew that he could theoretically be ok if he slipped in, but it wasn't going to be fun if he did. He carefully bend down to drink, keeping his eyes open in case of a foolish mortal thinking that he would be an easy meal.

Mlinzi was hungry. That was really all that needed to be said about her emotional state. The Goddess didn't generally spend her time wiffling and waffling and being emotional about this and that. She had been dragged into a lot of irritatingly thought-provoking interactions recently, and she most definitely was not a fan. After her last run-in with a mortal that wanted to yap and blather instead of escape, Mlinzi had retreated to the river and lurked there for some time. There was nothing quite as soothing as lurking. But now, hungry. Thankfully the waterbuck seemed to be offering itself up for a meal. Her golden eyes fixed on it from the water beneath, Mlinzi slowly drifted closer, closer ... Then she sprang, seeking to snap her jaws shut on its delicious face and drag it into the water with her.

Yggdrasil had only a split moment to react, but thankfully even in this form he could use his wings to push himself back. They appeared out of his illusion for only a moment, pushing him backwards as his green eyes narrowed at the form. A crocodile? Not quite...must be a god.
"I am not here for your eating pleasure," he said coolly, still remaining in his waterbuck form. He didn't feel the neat to change...at least not yet. First he would see what sort of threat this creature would be, and go from there.
Respect went both ways...hopefully this god followed that general rule. He knew his uncle (or a sister of his) sure didn't.

Mlinzi barely registered the wings that swept the waterbuck away from her. Her teeth clacked together on air.
Frustrating, but a good frustration after the headache of talking to mortals.
She didn't care if the waterbuck had wings, and she really didn't care if the waterbuck talked. Lots of things were too talkative for their own good, and she wasn't about to sit back and start chatting just because it opened its yapper. The only thing she cared about was the dumb thing's lack of survival instinct. She lunged for it again.
Let it never be said that the Goddess of Crocodiles was not determined.

"Hey!"
He leaped backwards again, more aware this time of the blood lust coming from the now-apparent-god. And a hungry one at that. As soon as all four hooves had left the ground, his god from took over.

Perhaps more impressive than the waterbuck from, but he thought that this god wouldn't care about that.
"I warned you, you know. I don't think you're going to want to eat me now that I've revealed myself to you." Still, he kept his guard up....crocodiles were sneaky, especially female ones.

Maybe the waterbuck wasn't as dumb as it appeared. It had escaped her twice now. And it appeared to have turned into a lion as well.
Her head poking up out of the river, Mlinzi studied the lion on the bank impassively. A big orange and white lion, probably a god or something. Okay. How weird and irritating. She was tempted to just sink back into the river and go on her way, but this waterbuck lion had sassed her.
Grumbling under her breath at the effort, the crocodile goddess stood up and marched onto the bank. She felt so much heavier and clumsier on land. Yet another thing to irritate her. This hunt had started so well, too!
Now that the waterbuck had mysteriously transformed into a lion, Mlinzi supposed she should listen to its words. She squinted at it thoughtfully. "You have horns," she said finally, grudgingly. "You still look like a waterbuck to me." She edged closer to it, wondering what waterbuck-lion-gods tasted like.

Woah. She was a lot bigger than he had first thought. That wasn't really a good thing, either. He knew that he could look large, but he wasn't really from...a huge bloodline? If there was such a think in the god realm. She was impressive...mainly because of that tail.
"I'm one with the woods. Having horns makes it easier to relate to the preybeasts that live in them." He paused for a moment, still intrigued by her form. "I assume that you have that form to make it easier to live near your domain, to be with those that feed your source of power; belief." It was apparent that if she wasn't the goddess of the river, she was certainly the goddess of things that lived in (or feared) it.

Yes, she supposed the waterbuck lion was indeed a god. Mlinzi didn't care much for gods, but then, she didn't care much for anyone. The waterbuck lion's chatter was irritating, wearisome. She shook her heavy head, dissatisfied. She had gone after a nice fat waterbuck and wound up with a lion-god blethering on about being one with this-and-that.
The waterbuck lion's ramblings sounded almost philosphical. Mlinzi didn't go in much for philosophy. She didn't know, or care, how domains worked. She certainly didn't care about belief, and if she had any followers, she would have tested their dedication by snacking on them. Mlinzi sighed. The god hadn't asked her a question, but it sounded like he was waiting for a response she didn't know how to give. It took a few moments for her to dredge up a reply.
"I'm a crocodile."
A hungry crocodile. She eyed the other god thoughtfully. She didn't generally favor lions, especially males. All that hair was disgusting. But this one had those intriguing horns, and the ability to change into a waterbuck. He looked ... delicious.
"You relate to preybeasts? I should eat you," Mlinzi said.

Yggdrasil shook his head. "Eating me would only result in your own death. My grandmother may feed into her own domain and seek revenge against me. I would advise holding your mouth for a moment..." Well, he could do a little something.
"If you're patient enough I can guide easy prey to your water bank. One that is sick and easy to take down, for I'm sure you feel that you've wasted enough energy on me." He wondered if she would take it as a threat...usually gods were very predictable, but she had nearly become a crocodile so much that he wondered if she even knew how to get to the Haven. Her thirst for blood did bother him a bit, but that was the way of the world.

More fast talking from a god that apparently did little other than run his mouth. Was he threatening her? Mlinzi was annoyed, but before she could become angry he offered to guide prey to her bank. Perhaps his waterbuck mate. She considered. That did sound nice. She hadn't really wanted to eat a big hairy lion in any case. And his wings would probably stick going down her throat.
She nodded. "Send me prey, waterbuck god." She didn't doubt that he would send her prey. People rarely dared lie to her. Mlinzi was feeling a bit sleepy now. It would be nice to go flop back in the river, but she had dragged herself out. She might as well take care of something else too. The crocodile goddess squinted at the waterbuck lion thoughtfully. "Can you make real babies, or only waterbuck babies?"

It wouldn't be that hard, and he was going to go find one that would probably make easy prey, until her comment confused him for a moment. If only for a moment. It wasn't really that strange, seeing as she seemed to be full of pure instinct rather than thought like him.
"I am true to lion form...sort of like you are." He was more lion-like than she would ever be. It was a strange request...but the idea of continuing the line, of making sure that there was plenty of youth to run around (rampant, really, but Yggdrasil didn't think of it that way) didn't bother him that much. "So yes, they would be real." He had wanted to said more, but reading her body language told him that she was not the chatty type, and didn't appreciate it.

The comment about her being in lion-form washed over her without making an impression. More of the useless nonsense that people tended to spout when talking. She watched him silently until he finished speaking, sifting through his words for meaning.
So, no. He wouldn't make waterbuck babies. He would make good strong babies. Hmmmf. Mlinzi gave him a searching look. He looked fairly strong, as long as he stayed in lion form and didn't turn back into a snack. And he seemed to respect her strength, which was a good thing. Nothing infuriated Mlinzi more than a mate that tried to hang around and annoy her and her babies.
"I need babies." Mlinzi said flatly. Her spiked tail twitched slightly. "And my snack." She might be a crocodile in almost all the ways that counted, but the idea of being wined and dined resonated with the part of her that belonged to the female species. No one had ever brought her a preybeast before. It would be ... gratifying.

Yggdrasil resisted shaking his head. She was a little too wrathful, though she did seem to be getting...lazy. Perhaps the warm sun above had something to do with that. At least there was something more than just eating in her mind.
"If you wait here, I will return with your food. After that we can...talk about your need for babies." He guessed. He didn't think he was the type to fall in love, which would make everything a lot easier. He would give her what she wanted, and he would have offspring that wouldn't die before his eyes. Mortals were too frail to invest much emotional attachment to.
With that, he went to go find a poor soul to offer to the Crocodile Goddess.
