Knock, knock.
It had taken her ten minutes to walk to Roch's dorm, despite being in the same building. She was allowed to walk today, and she took advantage of it by getting one last thing on her checklist done before she left for the wedding.
And that was Roch.
Knock, knock.

The doorknob twisted slowly, and the door opened more on its own weight than because someone was pulling it open. A tiny little sprite peeked around the door, looking at her blankly--then promptly started pushing on the door as hard as she could to close it again.
Roch didn't call out. It didn't even seem like he was there...

"Wha- yeh little s**t!" Freya stared at the little sprite, stubbornly pushing on the door to try and re-open it, if only because it was her first reaction to some tiny thing closing the door on her. "Roch, aren't yeh here? ROCH." She banged on the door with her fist, which was just another way to try and push it open, but also making a lot of noise. Her other hand remained on her stomach, wrapped around to hold her bandages just as she usually did.

The sound of the shower shutting off revealed that it had been ON in the first place. A few seconds passed before the door of the bathroom opened and a towel clad Roch stepped out of the bathroom, looking a bit blank, with his hair hanging to one side of his head.
"Screechie? Why'd you open the door?" he asked. Then he stopped at the sight of Freya. He'd forgotten she'd said she was coming.

Freya gave Roch the most annoyed look she could possibly muster, which deftly hid the blush that flooded her face. "Gods, boil, go put some pants on, I tolds yeh I was comings over but not for THAT." Her mouth split into a wide grin even as she covered her eyes with one hand and shoo'd him with the other. Still, she managed to walk into the room, only tumbling once on something or other, and eventually took her hand down to keep from killing herself.
Oh, look, Roch was still there in a towel. She pursed her lips.
"Did yeh really forgets all about me?"

"It's been a hectic week," he admitted, heading for the bag of clothes he had near the wall. He crouched down, revealing a bandage covering most of his back as he dug out some clothes. Then he stood and headed into the bathroom to get dressed.
A few seconds later he came out, as if the bandage question had never come up. "Don't worry, compared to your boilfriend seeing me in a towel is positively overdressed," he drawled, heading for his bed and dropping down on the large papasan. "You never told me what you wanted to ask."

She flopped down into the chair next to his desk while he disappeared, and when he came back out she looked like she'd made herself at home. Roch had a good point, and it made Freya laugh loudly. "Hey, if yeh decides yeh wants to pick up on the habit of dressing in a loincloth, I am not complainings, I am just goings by what I usually sees! Don't knock the loincloths, though. Herryk rocks it."
There was a brief moment where her eyes glazed over, but she focused up quickly enough.
"Okays. So I needs yehr help. Yehr good with musics, aren't yeh? I wants yeh to helps me with something."

He looked at her blankly. "Do you need to learn how to read sheet music, too?" he asked. "I got a group of people that I've been teaching," he said, shrugging. "You can just meet with us, and we'll go from there. It's not that hard, especially for you guys that are musically inclined to begin with."
The little sprite from earlier landed on his shoulder and hugged his neck.

"Not.. exactly?" She crunched up her face, sucking her teeth in embarrassment. "It's ah, more likes, well, tryings to get over this problem I has with my voice. Did I ever tells yeh about that? I don't remembers."
She leaned back on her chair and scratched her shoulder. "Well, I knows this is kind of weird to asks yeh, since yehr a player, not a singer. But.. well.."
Her face dropped, just slightly, in dismay. "I just. I never thought I could get helps. Now I feel like yeh could."

He blinked, shoving off the "I don't like your boilfriend" problem for a moment to take in the fact that Freya had a MUSICAL problem. He was quiet for a moment before he spoke. "You do realize," he said slowly, "I was taught by a drunken skeleton on the street corner of a town boogies like to pretend doesn't exist, right?"
He leaned forward, looking her straight on. "You still think I can help with the problem, knowing that?"

Freya leaned back in, reached out, and put her hand on Roch's knee.
"Roch. I thinks yeh are the only one who can helps me with this. Drunken skeleton and all."
He hadn't answered her initial question, however, and she still had to wonder.. "Do yeh.. know what my problem is?

"Not a clue," he admitted honestly, his eyes on the hand on his knee. "I figure it's something to do with your singing. I'll try and help where I can, but I'm not a professional level singer," he said as he looked up again.
"I'm intermediate at best. There's a guy that was around earlier who's a better singer than me, probably better trained, too. But he's an a**, so I'm not going to send you to him."

There was someone.. better? A singer? Freya's hand pulled away and she let that sink in. Who.. what..
She had to find this person. This.. singer of singers. O_O
In the meantime..
"Ja, its my voice. I don't knows how much you knows about valkyries, but we has this things about our singings. When we sings, we has the power to makes people feel some very strongs emotions. Ah, my sisters can all do it too, but I am a little bit.. broken?"
Her blush was back.
"I cannit sing without makings peoples sad."

He thought about it. "Easy," he said. "Take up singing the blues." Then he summoned his guitar, grinning at her. "I'm kidding. But you're gonna haveta tell me more. Are there certain songs you always sing? Is there a certain mindset you're in when you want to sing? What's it feel like?" he asked.

Freya snickered at Roch's answer. When he asked her for confirmation, she opened her mouth to explain just how well she knew her own problem, but paused. It was always easier to show by example.
What was the happiest song she knew?
"This is Halloweens, everybody makes a scenes~ Tricks or treats 'till the neighbors die of frights! It's our towns, everybody screams! In this town of Halloweens~"
The sound of her voice was clear, beautiful, and upbeat. That didn't change the fact that the Fear in the air thickened and dampened, leaving the most mournful of feelings in the hearts of anyone who listened.
