Corralling the minipets was not hard as . . . most of them were fish. And mind, Mort disliked water as it was. He had spent the better half of an hour moving bowls and looking away as he filled them with water, and then took out the plastic bags where the minipets were held. "Welcome to new home!" he said with a strained smile as each pet slid out, grimacing if water was splashed onto his hands in response. The little floresce fish began to busy themselves with examining their new surroundings through the glass.

It was a big tank for such few fish. Mort shuddered at the thought of it tipping over and walked hastily away. He checked his laptop one last time to see the ghoul's response. It would be nice to meet her too, especially since they did not get to speak much during the sewing group! "Will be back, fishes. Be good, Brian," he told the dragie, chuckling as the knee-high minipet snorted gruffly in response.

Aaaahahahahtheroomwasgonnabeamesswhenhegotback.

Out the door he went after he grabbed his coat, a hand fishing out his map of Amityville Academy from a pocket. Strangely, it had a nibble in one corner . . . Ah well. Mort examined it for a few seconds and began to move onward, occasionally glancing at his feet to make sure he wasn't about to trip. He recognized the monster dorms' facade as the building he had originally been lost in, and upon stepping in he remembered why: it was so biiiiiig. owo He wondered how small Chuppi felt.

With her description from Groanspring, it wasn't long before he found the low-set knobbed door. Folding the map back up, Mort knocked. "It be Mort!" he said through the door, just in case she needed that clarification.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 10, 2011 3:23 pm

The first thing Mort would have heard coming from the other side of the door would have been a very loud thud followed by several short shrieks and the squeals of minipets. A couple more moments of bumping around and things falling occurred before the room went silent. The sound of feet shuffling towards the door indicated that it would open soon, and it did seconds later to reveal a very out of breath looking Chupacabra. Her cheeks were flushed and her hair was down, but overall she looked fairly okay.

"Um...buenos tardes, I mean, good afternoon. Feel free to come inside." The little monster stepped the to side as she opened the door. Her room was neat and tidy, not what one would expect from all the noise. There were no signs of pets however, and as Mort finished entering the room the door was closed behind him and Chuppi shuffled over towards a small chair. "You're welcome to sit here, I am content with the floor."

And.....she was really confused as to what to do now. Sure she had been talking to Mort on groanspring, and they'd met with one another before at the sewing circle, but that was about it. Chuppi had never been good around strangers and her nerves weren't helping. If only she could find her thermos. . . . "So....um...did...did you have trouble finding my room?"

owo So clean . . . Soclean. He was ushered to a chair before he knew it, though the lack of activity beyond themselves was curious; everyone on campus seemed to own at least one minipet. Maybe Chuppi wasn't an older knob yet like most of the students he knew? Perhaps if Mama sent too many minipets over, he could . . .

When Chuppi said she was fine on the floor, however, Mort's train of thought was broken. "Mrr?" It felt weird, taking the chair while the room's main occupant was below him (even if she was already pretty short). What would Mama think of him if he let this happen? The zombie frowned, and then slid himself to the ground as well, sitting indian-style. "Don't mind floor either. Is colder n'way, but thanku~

"But nah, used map to find monster's place and went trick-or-treating around to find low knob,"
he continued, meaning door-to-door. "Is so big inside here . . ."

Pause. His fingers entwined themselves in his lap.

"So, um . . . how long been here in school? Got here like . . . fourish days ago." Though the field trip had made it seem longer ago than that!
PostPosted: Thu Nov 10, 2011 5:58 pm

Chuppi had given up trying to object to Mort's sitting on the ground the moment he slid into position, settling himself in comfortably. She couldn't help but squirm as she noticed him looking around the room at first, though she was relieved to find that he found her room with little to no difficulty. Having a room on the first floor was always the best and having a door made just for her didn't hurt either.

"Um...a little over a year, maybe? I have lost track of time, but I know so many others who joined with me are passed." Chuppi had fallen behind due to her emotions, and she bit at her lip as her fingers squeezed themselves onto the fabric of her pants. Her cowardice was really to blame for all of it - she could have even gone on the field trip with the others if she wanted. No, the only thing that had kept Chuppi where she was was her own emotions. "I should be trying to move up soon."

She'd taken enough steps, been to enough classes that she should be able to attend higher level classes soon. "Why brought you here? Err, what brought you here."

"Mrrr . . . Mama said I should come. For the smarts." To be honest he hadn't had to think more beyond that; whatever his Mama said went, really. She had been his anchor since spawning in this world, and together they had been making him progress slowly in his acclimation into Halloween Town. "Want the smarts, because zombies are underdogs in undead. Want to be smart like everyone else, fast like everyone else . . ."

He then scratched the back of his neck self-consciously, as the zombie had not wanted to make this into a mutual pity party.

"Sorry! Um. B-But, er . . . You do good on test, methinks! If you try," he added, just in case. Exams here seemed to be rather relaxed and at whatever pace the individual took it at, which was pretty sweet. "Isn't like can be a knob even if test is not so good? No pressure!"

It was so easy for him to say because end of the year exams were still quite a ways away for him.

"Also, um. No pets?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 12, 2011 6:17 pm

"Oh, no, I do have pets. I just...sent them away for right now. When people are coming over I try not to have my pets hanging around because some people may not like them?" Chuppi's excuse was thin and easily picked apart, but she sounded earnest so hopefully Mort wouldn't pick up on it. She didn't want anyone to know of what she'd been doing, so if someone where to find out. . . .she didn't know then how she'd respond.

The Chupacabra shook her head, hard, to get away from that train of thought. Mort was giving her a compliment again, and she needed to respond in turn. She needed to respond properly as well. "Um, thank you! I am not sure how well it will go but I will really be doing my best? I have heard that the testing is all kinds of different things, so I am worried. I may be able to read and write, but. . . . I cannot do much else." She placed her hands on her legs and clenched her fingers into the fabric, her mind wandering with the thoughts.

"Also I know I can become a Knob without trying, but does not mean I do not want to pass! Would your Mama be proud should you pass?"

And indeed, Mort nodded at Chuppi's answer - perhaps she had pets like Brian, who was an ill-tempered dragie he hoped to one day try to make civil but for now would try to have company avoid. He did still find it weird that she would prefer to keep them away, though . . . but maybe that was just the little monster's preference?

"Mama would be proud, yes," he answered after pondering for a moment. "She is very nice even if am not her scareling. Very nice even if not pass test . . ." Sometimes Mort wondered if perhaps Mama was too nice. It was what caused trouble with her employers sometimes . . . The zombie then added resolutely, "But would want to pass test. Would make more proud than if not."

"Chiiirrrr!" went something in his hood. Mortimer blinked and fiddled inside of it, producing a small pink kushi-kushi wiggling in mid air. "Daisyyyyy, why you no sleep in bed made for you?" =3= "Sorry. Daisy likes clothes for sleeping. Hood covers her."

Placing the kushi-kushi back in his lap (and making sure she'd settle down some), Mort then attempted to push the conversation back to the original intention of this meeting. "So, um . . . Why is field thingie bad?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 12, 2011 7:37 pm

At the sight of the kushi-kushi, Chuppi's stomach let out a high pitched growl. It continued for a few moments, prompting the Chupacabra to push herself over into a little ball. Her quills were standing straight up as she waited out the cries of a hungry stomach, and when it all passed she lifted herself back into the seated position. Her face was redder than it had been in a very, very long time, and she looked away in what was very clearly embarrassment. There was no way for her to play it off, or ask if he hasn't heard it.

The only thing she could do was push onward in the conversation, as Mort seemed to have tried doing. "Um, what do you mean? Field thingie?"

For some reason the Chupacabra had forgotten the entire reason he'd come over in the short time since his arrival and their conversation on groanspring. It was a bit embarrassing.

. . . o3o??? Did he hear rumbling . . . ? What was Chuppi - Why were - Huh?

Daisy's nose twitched as she peaked over Mort's legs curiously. Mortimer in the meanwhile felt awkward. Should he comfort her? Had the minipet insulted her somehow? Mort's face contorted with guilt when Chuppi uncurled, her face redder than he remembered.

"U-Um . . . Sorry," he meekly said, scratching the back of his neck. "Did do wrong? Is Daisy bad here?" The last thing he needed to do was insult an upperclassman.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 12, 2011 8:34 pm

"Eh? No, no no! Tu estas bien! you're fine, you're fine! It's just....yo tengo hombre, I am hungry, and seeing your kushi made my stomach rumble. I don't know why though." Chuppi was getting tired of lying, but she was scared and now was not the time to turn back. She really wished she could find her Thermos, it had to be somewhere in her room. As soon as she found it the object would never leave her side again, and she wouldn't care if her weight went back up. It certainly could prevent moments like this. "A mi me gusta kushis - I like kushis."

Her stomach whined again and the monster got to her feet, shuffling her way over to the window that sat about three feet above her head. The walking eased the rumbles, and she turned around to head back to Mort and take a seat. "Sorry, it's getting close to time to eat too. You're fine there though, you don't need to go. Maybe telling me a bit more about yourself would help?" It would also help, Chuppi thought, to change the subject even more.

She wanted to get away from her hunger.

Mort wasn't sure how to respond for a few seconds. For one, he too had an issue with eating - not so much for weight as it was a personal conflict between eating brains and studying them. Also flesh. Flesh tasted great. Mmmm, raw flesh.

It was why he was always careful with his pets. If blood began to be spilt because Brain decided to be mean again, and his hunger was triggered . . . It wasn't fleshy flesh, sure, but to think he might one day accidentally nom one of his little friends to death was . . .

"Mrr . . . Can find fewds to bring here to talks over with?" Mort offered. "Maybe will make feel better? Can go find some if you dun wants leave."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 13, 2011 2:35 pm

Mort had just made Chuppi sad without even trying, because his kindness was not what she had expected. Most people would panic at the growling of a monster's stomach, mostly because people thought them to be stupid beasts that lived off their stomachs and not brains. To have someone suggest they get something to eat instead of dismissing themselves made the Chupacabra so happy.

"Food does sound good, but....I am on a diet of sorts. I am trying to lose weight because I am fat." It was sad to admit that she was fat but Chuppi knew it to be the truth. She appreciated what the zombie boy was trying to do for her, trying to make it easier on her, but she needed to stick with her promises and ideas and not overeat. If she stayed fat she couldn't be on the track team anymore, and she couldn't run and jump and play.

"Trying to lose weight for Track, that is. I...am la capitana, and to be fat and unable to run and be in sports is shameful. I am shamed."

"Oooooh." Well that made sense! Mort had quite the opposite problem, as not keeping a steady supply of sustenance seemed to make him waste away - like his body wouldn't convert the FEAR needed to keep him from decomposition. And really, who needed more corpse stench anyway? Not that Mort care particularly about it, but there were some students who had particular noses . . . And ghouls just don't like bad-smelling boils.

"Mama says should gain weight," Mort replied, pointing to himself. "Or will be skelly! We can does exercise together if wants."

Had he forgotten the original intention of coming over? Absolutely.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 22, 2011 8:19 pm

"You...don't have to if you don't want to. I appreciate the thoughts though?" Chuppi remembered playing dodge ball with Mot, the youth having called it 'exercise' and how she'd hurt him a lot with something as easy as a ball. This boil was an undead though and could probably handle a lot of damage, but the Chupacabra wasn't so sure she wanted to take that risk. Still, someone offering meant it would be rude for her to turn it down.

"I know fast and easy ways for you to gain weight but it does involve a little bit of runnings. I can mostly pounce on them though, is much easier that way." Was she talking about chasing down and eating minipets? Yes. Was she going to say it out loud like that and specify? No.

It also seemed as though Mort had forgotten why he was there, and Chuppi was way way cool with that. If he didn't bring it up she wasn't going to remind him. "Should we....get moving? Or did you want to stay and talk?" Chuppi was content with whatever option, though her head quickly turned to her small window the moment a shadow appeared in it. A Purple pygmy fox had somehow arrived and was looking down at the pair, his eyes watching the kushi. "Oh. Rafferty. Rafferty is one of my pets, he goes out often."

Thankfully for Chuppi, Mort couldn't often bridge that gap of given information to implied information. He could, however, get his memory triggered by a few simple words.

He was supposed to be here to talk about something! What was it again? Mrrrrrrrr . . . Mort frowned thoughtfully.

Daisy, in the meanwhile, poked her head over the boil's legs at the pygmy fox. Would this thing try to eat her to? She seemed rather nonchalant about it if so - so used to Brian's violent nips, minipets smaller than the dragie (and less fierce-looking) didn't seem to bother her anymore. The kushi kushi's nose twitched as she ambled up Mort's legs and stood atop them, blinking up at Rafferty.

"Was supposed be here for talk?" Mort prompted the ghoul after a bit, scratching his head. "Sorry . . . I-Is bad with memory. Brain shocks lots. Messes with. But if not want talk, can go now for other stuff."

Simple enough. If he couldn't remember, maybe he wasn't meant to? Maybe it was something depressing, which Mort didn't want to impress on the chupacabra's fragile ego if he didn't have to. He was bad with depressing stuff anyway.
