Playlist on her Ipod During this solo:
Honey and The Bee - Owl City
Barefoot Blue Jean Night - Jake Owen
Long Hot Summer - Keith Urban

Her father came in, saying "I'm surprised that you can study with that playing."

Castille looked up form her math homework. She was at her computer desk, Red ipod plugged into the radio that came for it on her birthday. It was currently playing Owl City, a easy beat that could hardly be called distracting.

"It helps." She said, scratching out a piece of work that was very much wrong. Math was not her strong point. She gave her dad a winning smile, saying "Look, I don't even have my computer on right now." It was true. The laptop was shut, no sound coming from it. Castille didn't have to tell him that she had forgotten to plug it in, which was why it was off and not because of homework. Meh, he didn't need to know that! Her father sighed, and said "Alright, but try not to stay up too late." before giving her a wink and shutting the door. She called out "I won't!" and turned back to her homework.

If the green left the grass on the other side,
I would make like a tree and leave.

The lyrics were always so dang catchy. She hummed along, finishing the problem as the second verse was finishing.

But still my heart stops without you cuz there's something about you
That makes me feel alive.

She pushed away from her desk, singing along with the second chorus. Music made her feel so dang good! It was easy to get lost in the melodies and let them take over. Like here, where everything fell out of the song but for Adam Young's voice and the response from his woman duet partner. Them and an acoustic guitar. She could almost feel her heart stop, waiting for the end of the song. It crashed forward with the last chorus and her voice wound with the recording, until she couldn't hear the woman. Then it was her and Adam singing. With the end of song she opened her eyes, taking a deep breath. Ok homework...

But there was a nagging in the back of her mind. She pulled out her phone and skimmed over her last conversation with Odette. No, nothing there. Then it was the exchange with Merissa. Nothing here either....ah ha!

A full moon shinin' bright
Edge of the water; we were feelin' alright
Back down a country road
The girls are always hot, and the beer is ice cold

This song was great! She sang along to it while scrolling through people. It was the messages between Castille and her friend Jesse. She was always the most persistent, and after the whole episode with getting beat up, she wasn't without questions. Always questions. They were having a pleasant conversation when she asked, once again "Who's Nate? How come we've heard of him, but never met him?"

She snapped the phone shut quickly. That was what she was thinking about? She hadn't responded to her. How the heck could she explain the strange friendship between them? Oh yeah, because we're both superheroes, and to keep you guys safe you probably shouldn't meet him in case a negaverse agent figures us out. Then your lives are in danger.

Yeah that would totally work.

We were shinin' like lighters in the dark
In the middle of a rock show

She let the music take over, filling her heart and mind while she spun in her chair. Whenever she let go like this, it always felt like she was nervous. Her heart got all fluttery and she could honestly feel like she was there, in the song. This time she was sitting on a beach with friends, having a good time.

Why couldn't she tell them?

Her face became one of frustration and she spun herself again. "Ugh!"

What was her issue? Her brain seemed to be trying to tell her something, but she shoved it abruptly away. No. Freaking. Way. Her heart sped up again, but it had nothing to do with the song. It had to do with her denial.

We were doin' it right
(Whoa-oh)
We were comin' alive
(Whoa-oh)
Yeah, caught up in a Southern summer, barefoot, blue jean night.

That wasn't it, was it? She was suddenly too embarrassed to even consider it to herself. Oh look, the song was over! Castille distracted herself with changing the song to one she couldn't ignore. Keith Urban always made her feel happy. Once the song was selected, she flopped from her chair to her bed. Yeah, homework was done.

I can’t sleep
Ain’t no sleep a’coming
I’m just lying here thinking ‘bout you

Really? She sighed. Did it just know that she had landed on her bed? Castille rolled over, taking out her buns. The hair fell a little past her shoulders. She shut her eyes, trying to ignore that irritating tickle right around her stomach area. She didn't...have a thing for Nate did she?

It’s gonna be a long, hot summer, we should be together
With your feet up on the dashboard now
Singing along with the radio, it’s such a beautiful sound
And when you say my name in the middle of the day, I swear I see the stars come out
When you hold my hand in the back of my mind, just waiting on the sun to go down, the sun to go down.

She smushed her face into her pillow. That was it wasn't it? That was what she was attempting to ignore with homework, music and all that. Ugh, great. She could hear him now. Gloating, teasing, and then kicking her butt in senshi training. Castille groaned, flipping over with the pillow still over her face.

Forget a long hot summer keith urban. It was going to be a long, cold winter.
