Mot had heard through the grapevine that Xiu had also been hurt badly by The lead hunter back at the field trip. The reaper was slowly making his rounds to catch up with his friends, checking to make sure they were all holding up okay. While most of the first week had been spent holed up in his bedroom, now that his eyes weren't so raw, he felt more adventurous, able to see who he wanted outside the Reaper dorms.
So, with this added knowledge, Mot set out to see Xiu, sending her a quick text to let her know he was coming.
Besides, he was also all out of tea!

Honestly, the feeling that filled Xiu when she got Mot's text was relief. She hadn't seen him since the field trip--the last time she saw him was moments before she had been stabbed--so she had been worried about her friend for some time now. Ironically, she had woken up that morning with the intention of checking up on the cowboil when she received his text.
While she waited for him to arrive, the baku worked on making some tea--not a special brew, but just something simple and relaxing. The most she could offer her guests right now was tea, as her shoulder still hadn't healed enough for her to be able to begin cooking or baking again. At least the burns were healing quite quickly!
She set the teapot and two teacups down on the coffee table. With the door of her dorm left open, Xiu sat herself down on the couch and waited for her friend to arrive.

Mot reached Xiu's room, finding the door open. He knocked anyway before letting himself inside. "Knock knock~" Mot chrped from the entryway, making his way to where Xiu was. His face was not as raw as it had been, but had not healed yet. Red welts covered the area around his eyes, his sclera still bloodshot but no longer that glaring red color they had been. And of course, his beloved black hat was gone, but had been replaced with a dark colored one hanging behind him around his neck.
"Oh, you made me tea, too?" Mot smiled. Xiu was so thoughtful. "How are you feeling? I heard you got hurt, and I was really worried. What happened?" The reaper sat himself down on the floor, facing Xiu and bringing one of the teacups closer to himself. While Mot didn't like to eat, he did like beverages.

Smiling, the baku jumped to her feet when the cowboil arrived. "Mot! ...Ah--a-are you alright?" Her good hand flew to her mouth at the sight of his eyes--perhaps it was for the best that she hadn't seen him when he had first gotten hurt. "Y-your eyes...you got them checked out, right? You'll be okay?" Not here for a minute, and Xiu was already fretting over him. Her ears drooped as she took in her friend's appearance.
When he asked about her own injury, she smiled weakly. "The...the hunter with the scythe managed to catch me in the shoulder with a blade. I was pinned down for a bit, but...but Vaith managed to get me free pretty quickly." Thank goodness for that. "Aside from that though, I've been healing pretty well. I didn't get much sleep the first night back, but after that..."
She trailed off, tilting her head at Mot. How was the reaper holding up with sleeping? It seemed that a lot of people were having problems with insomnia or nightmares lately.

Mot was caught by surprise, but soon realized why Xiu had asked what she did. Oh right. He didn't look so good, did he? He'd been so focused on finally getting out again. He laughed nervously at her reaction, waving a hand. "I'm okay, really. I can see again, so that's all that matters." He didn't want Xiu to worry. She had her own injuries to worry about, after all. Not that Mot hated the attention the ghouls gave him. He rather liked that they worried about him, just not that they felt worried.
Mot nodded, understanding the no sleep thing all too well. That b*****d hunter haunted his own dreams too. How dare he pin down Xiu. Mot furrowed his brow, clenching a fist at the mere thought of it. "I'm glad Vaith was there for you. And that you're healing. If there's anything I can do to help you out, just give the word." Mot smiled reassuringly, trying not to let himself worked up.

She was glad to hear that Mot was recovering, and the relaxation of her tense shoulders showed that. "Thank goodness," She murmured, "I'm glad that there wasn't any permanent damage to your eyes." She didn't even want to think about what it would have been like to suddenly go blind.
Noting the reaper's suddenly clenching of his fist, Xiu was quick to lean over and fill his teacup with some tea, pushing it over so that it was even closer to him. "P-please drink!" She urged, before a small smile tugged at her lips, "And thank you, Mot. The same goes for you--if there's anything at all that I can do to help you, just let me know." She wasn't sure what kinds of things she could help with though, except the usual.
...Speaking of which. "How...how is your insomnia?" Xiu wouldn't have been surprised if it had gotten worse after the incident.

"Me too." Mot murmured. Being blind had been frightening. Knowing so much was going on around him an not being able to see it coming. He'd never in his life felt so helpless and vulnerable.
Mot nodded when the tea was poured for him, relaxing as he took up the cup to have a sip. It was funny that Xiu should bring up the offer in return. That had been on of the reasons he came over after all. "Worse." Mot answered in regards to his insomnia. "I avoided sleeping for a few days after the trip." The reaper tried to think of a way to skim over the fact he'd woken Hel up with his nightmare after finally passing out.
"Anytime I try and sleep I either can't settle long enough or nightmares wake me up." He rubbed his temple with a free hand, shrugging it off for now. "Everyone is in the same boat though. I did manage to get a full eight hours one night. Since then though It's been an hour or two tops." Eight hours was unheard of for the reaper.
"Which reminds me. Do you mind making me another batch of that special tea? I don't know if it will still work, but I'm at a loss at what to do."

Xiu poured herself some tea as well, lifting it carefully as she listened to Mot speak. She had been about to take a sip, but was distracted by the reaper's words. "W-what? Mot, why would you avoid slee--ow."
She had moved to put her teacup back onto the table a little too hastily, splashing a bit of the hot liquid over the edge and onto her hand. While she grabbed a paper towel to mop up the small mess she had made, she perked up as the word "nightmare" reached her ears. So Mot was having nightmares too, was he?
"You're definitely not the only one having bad dreams," Xiu confirmed, looking up at him as she wiped off her hand, "I can definitely make you another batch of the tea too, but..." She frowned. Wouldn't he just be plagued by nightmares if he slept? She was silent for a moment, and then leaned forward.
"Well, there's something I can do for your nightmares. It'll only be temporary relief, but maybe it'll help until you get a grasp on things. I can always enter you dreams again and try to walk you through the nightmare," It probably wouldn't be easy, though, and it didn't always work, "Or I can...um. Eat it."

Mot winced as Xiu spilled some hot tea on her hand. He would have cleaned up her mess for her, but she had it under control before he had a chance. "Yeah, well.." Avoiding sleep was a great idea at the time, until he nearly keeled over in the shower.
Mot seemed hopeful when Xiu said there was something she could do for his nightmares. However, when it turned out to be dream diving, his hopes fell. "Xiu, I don't want you to see it." He said with concern. "You've been through enough. I can't make you see what I see. I'd rather go sleepless for weeks than make a friend go through it." Wait, eat it?
It was interesting though. "Walk me through a nightmare, though? How does that even work?"

Xiu smiled at his concern, reaching out with her good (albeit now slightly red from the tea) hand to rest on his shoulder. "Mot, I've seen...I've seen a lot of nightmares. Things that terrified me, to be certain, but if you need help..." She trailed off, frowning in concern. The cowboil already didn't get much sleep as is--she didn't want to let him go on with having nightmares plaguing him every night.
"Walking you through a nightmare...still requires me to jump in. As does eating the dream," She admitted, looking thoughtful, "For the first method...it might be a little more permanent? I mean, I'd basically be there in the dream and trying to guide you through it. I...I guess it's like...when you face your fears head on, they don't seem so scary anymore after, right?" Hopefully he would understand what she was saying. In theory, if Mot conquered his nightmares--if he faced the problems in the dream head on--then he would probably stop having them.
"The other method is fast, but it might just be temporary relief. I go into the dream and I...well, I eat the nightmare. This leaves you with a fresh canvas to start painting a new dream." The only problem with that was that Xiu couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't just fill his mind with another nightmare again.

Xiu was certainly admirable. She had this ability, and to work to make it stronger while viewing the nightmares if others had to be difficult. As much as Mot didn't want her to suffer his own dreams, doing so would help her too, right? Besides, he really needed to put his mind at ease.
Mot pondered this over a few moments, drinking his tea silently as the wheels turned in his mind. "Okay.. Only because I'm desperate for rest." Mot relented, nodding his head. If even he was begging for sleep then it must have been serious. More than that, it was unlike the first time she had been in his dreams. Back then, he didn't even remember what it was he'd dreamed. Now, he knew how the dream would play out, and how vulnerable it would make him feel for someone to see that weak side of his subconscious.
If he could learn from this, then he would be able to ward off his own nightmares, and go back to his "normal" sleep schedule.

She studied Mot thoughtfully for a moment before rising from her seat, moving around so that she could sit beside him. "If you're worried, I can promise you that I'll keep whatever I see to myself. I won't speak about it to anyone." She rested a reassuring hand on his shoulder, and then glanced back towards her kitchen. Well, she could whip up a brew of Mot's insomnia-curing tea blend in a matter of minutes, but...
"Did you...did you want to do this now, or plan another time?" Either was fine with the baku, but considering that the reaper hadn't gotten much sleep (if any) in a long time now, she wanted to try helping him as soon as possible.
Hmm, though perhaps it would be a good idea to ask him to give a general run-down on what he dreamed about first. Maybe they could come up with a rough plan, and Xiu could try to guide him through it in the dream world? It could work.

Mot smiled softly in appreciation of Xiu's promise. He had no doubt she would keep it to herself. She was such a good ghoul. "I know you won't." Still, this was nerve wrecking. As much as he wanted to work past his nightmares, his initial need to flee and run from it was aching.
"Sooner the better. If I can get it over with, it will be best." He nodded to himself, steeling his resolve. He exhaled nervously and took another sip of his normal tea.
Face his fears. Be brave. That had been on his list of things to do he'd made with Hel, after all.

Xiu bobbed her head to show that she understood before rising to her feet. "That's not a problem. Just give me a few minutes to brew up a pot of tea, okay?" She smiled, and then head off to the kitchen to get started. She set a kettle of water down on the stove and, while letting that boil, walked back into the living room area.
"Bad dreams aside..." The baku trailed off uncertainly. Lately, she found it kind of hard to ask simple questions. With what had happened, asking "how have you been" seemed kind of insensitive of her. After an uncertain pause, she asked, "Have you checked up on the others recently? Hel? Lizzy? Aniki?"
That seemed like an innocent enough question.
