Sometimes he wondered why he was even bothering to do this. This whole knight thing. Going out on the town and fighting youma and saving kittens and all this other nonsense that he didn't really have time for. Sure, it made him feel a little useful, bu he'd left the Navy for a civilian life. This wasn't a civilian life. Maybe he was never intended to have a civilian life! Who knew.

All he knew now was that he was looking around for these monster. He thought about carrying around a six pack with him, but drinking on the job was so unprofessional. Not that he claimed to be a professional at this, but out of habit and general discipline he decided to forgo the booze as he made his way around the block, jumping from roof top to roof top.

It was a nice night at least. And by nice night, it was that it wasn't raining. Which was always good. The clothing he was forced to wear was a pain when it was wet. In fact, he was even tempted to just rip off the sleeves and hope they didn't appear back when he powered up again. Somehow he didn't think this whole magic nonsense would allow him to do that. Heck, he might not even be able to tear them off. It anything, at least he'll be warm in the winter.

Sessrumnir looked up when he sensed an energy close by, glancing in the general direction it was coming from. Hmm... well, they didn't feel dark or evil or what have you. The page remained where he was on the roof, waiting to see if the other would seek him out. There was no point in him trying to find them when he couldn't sense a youma they might be needing help with.

The weather was starting to turn cool, and Sailor Europa was having the opposite problem from the page. Her uniform was suited to warmer weather, and rain didn't particularly bother her - her boots were waterproof, and so long as her leotard didn't turn transparent then it was basically running around in a bathing suit. But cooler weather made patrol less than fun. She'd seen other senshi put coats and sweatpants on along with their fuku, and was sorely tempted to try it once the first snow hit. (Of course, she'd look ridiculous with sweatpants pulled all the way up to her ruffles, but who was counting, really?)

She sensed another order-aligned energy signal nearby. Europa smiled and picked up the pace, crossing the final rooftop at a jovial cant. It never hurt to see who was up and about this time of night - maybe she'd even make a new friend.

Landing gracefully, she looked the green-clad figure up and down. Definitely a page, she decided, and the colors were promising. She'd need to look at the sigil to be sure, but Europa definitely had a feeling that she'd found another member of her merry band of Jovians. "Good evening," she called, smiling politely as she walked across the roof, placing her feet carefully against the shingles.

Drawing closer, she stuck out a hand to shake. Professionalism was Europa's best defense mechanism, but behind that facade she was evaluating the page. Definitely twenty-something, even if glamours made it hard to make an exact estimate. And handsome - glamour couldn't hide that.

Outwardly, Europa bit her lip for just a moment before adding, "I'm Eternal Sailor Europa of the Jovian Court," she introduced herself, studying the sigils on his chest. There it was, the familiar four shape. "And you are...? Of Jupiter, I presume?"

Sessrumnir remained where he was as he felt the other energy change direction and head towards him. A grin grew on his face as he realized he recognized her from the city meeting incident, but he held back on making mention of anything like that.

"Good evening," he greeted in return, his eyebrows raising curiously as she held out her hand and introduced herself. Interesting. Another member of the 'Jovian Court'? He eyed her hand for a moment before deciding to ignore it, lowering himself into a sweeping mock-bow. "Eternal Sailor Europa of the Jovian Court! What an honor it is!" he said in exaggerated enthusiasm. "Your fame has reached as far as the suburbs! I have been looking forward to this day!"

Okay, maybe that was a little over the top, but with the way she introduced herself, she must at least think she was pretty important. "Of Jupiter?" he paused, making a curious face as he raised from the bow, lifting a hand to rub at his chin. "No, I can't say I've ever heard of him... The name is Sessrumnir. I prefer the whole thing, and not some easy abbreviated version like 'Sess'. Tongue-twisters can never be overcome unless practiced." Yeah, as if he cared about being called 'Sess' or anything, really. He had a really strange name, but she didn't know he wasn't too attached to it.

Maybe he should go around introducing himself as Bob?

"Pray tell, what do I owe this honor, Eternal Sailor Europa of the Jovian Court?" he mocked again, but only half-bowed this time.

Eh, he was just having fun. It was amusing to see how quickly some people got worked up.

Europa lowered her hand, trying to brush it off by smoothing out a misplaced frill on her ruffles. Clearly she'd come off a bit too strongly, because now he was mocking her. Or at least she strongly suspected he was. Some senshi and knights were all about pomp and circumstance, or else just pretended to play along. But this one, with his low, fake bow, was just stomping all the air out of her. "Oh, come on," she groaned. "Get up."

That was better.

"Sessrumnir," she repeated, going slowly to catch all of the syllables. Well, there were bound to be mouthfuls sooner or later - the Jovian court was especially full of them, though, once you factored in that it also had people with names like Euanthe, Kallichore, and Vindemiatrix. "Sessrumnir Page of Jupiter, isn't it?" she asked, gesturing to the pair of buttons inscribed with the stylized Jovian four. "You wear the planet's sigil."

And here she was, pretty blatantly pointing at his chest. Europa wrung her hands as he bowed a second time. "No, no," she said, trying to remain upbeat. "You don't need to bow to me, please stand up." It sounded more sheepish than anything.

"Not to anything, I suppose," she added, smoothing her hands against her ruffles. "I was just patrolling and sensed you. I thought I might come see if it was anyone I know, but this is... it's almost even better, because you're of Jupiter, and the Jovian court-"

She shrugged, thinking the name was fairly self explanatory. "We're of Jupiter as well. Its moons and its knights."

A bit too strongly? Yeah, just a little. But that was okay because Sessrumnir didn't mind having a good laugh. She seemed to be flustered by his mocking, and that was fine by him. She'd introduced herself as this powerful Eternal Senshi, so of course he's going to tease her a bit.

"Jovian court...?" he repeated dumbly. "I don't think I received that invitation, Eternal Sailor Europa of the Jovian Court," he told her, doing his best to hold back a grin that was starting to shine through his mockery. He paused to glance down at the symbols on his tunic, making a small gasping noise. "Oooh, that's what these mean? Jupiter? I didn't know! Amazing..."

Okay, yeah, he was pushing it a bit, but he was just having fun. Nothing wrong with that, right?

As for the Jovian Court... he'd already been told about it by Super Sailor Ganymede, but he supposed stringing her along wouldn't hurt anything. "Why would I want to have anything to do with this... 'Jovian Court'?" he asked, using air quotes with his fingers now that she'd somehow convinced him that he was really a knight of Jupiter.

Sorry. Page. Just a lowly page.

Europa tried to hide that she was a bit stung, even if she truthfully was. She was more than bright enough to know when she was being strung along, and clearly this Sessrumnir wasn't impressed by her attitude, nor by her buttwings. Which was understandable because most nights she wasn't terribly impressed by them either, but she'd earned them god damn it and if they couldn't win her respect from people older than her then what the hell were they even good for?

"Well then," she answered, forcing herself to maintain her composure, "Consider this your official invitation. I'm sorry if I missed you before, things have been a bit hectic - Negaversers blowing up buildings, a civilian crisis on the Surrounding-" Europa stopped herself and looked him up and down again, finally placing the forest green tunic. The mention of the city council meeting had jogged something in her memory.

"Wait," she said. "Why am I telling you this? You were there. You know this." If she was remembering correctly, he'd called her Sweet Cheeks and she'd been pretty sure he wasn't referring to her face. It was still rather up in the air whether Europa was flattered or disgusted by the nickname.

Crossing her arms over her chest, the senshi continued, "Well, now that we've formally met - think of the Jovian Court as a resource. We have experience, we have strength in numbers, connections to other teams- Really, no one makes it very far in this by playing lone wolf."

The fewer connections you had, the easier it was for the darkness to ensnare you. Europa had her reasons for fighting - did Sessrumnir know what his were?

Sessrumnir's bright blue eyes sparkled mischievously as she looked him over again, finally placing where she'd seen him before. Ah, now she was catching on. And sorry, he she would get his respect once she earned it. Hell, it went both ways, but he wasn't wearing his Naval uniform with his bars and medals. He'd seen plenty of action but she didn't know that, and he wasn't about to go around sharing it.

"Do I know this?" he blinked innocently, amused by how flustered she seemed to be getting. Still, he wasn't sure if he was done messing around with her just yet. "I thought you'd never recognize me," he said with a wink at her.

"And I've already been invited. Some kid named Ganymede called me to the Surrounding. I met him a week or so before that," he said with a little shrug, figuring he could at least give her some slack. He had no intention of getting killed, but he wasn't sure how much he wanted to hang around and babysit teenagers.

"How old are you, exactly...?" he wondered, looking her over. She couldn't be older than twenty...
PostPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 8:10 pm

"Ganymede's my second-in-command," she nodded, suddenly wondering why Ganymede hadn't seen fit to tell her there was a second Jovian knight running around when he'd briefed her on the situation. "He's a good Senshi. Someone I'm proud to be on the same team with." Europa would never turn down an opportunity to talk up one of the Jovians. Their reputation could use all the help it could get, and she couldn't have someone underestimating Ganymede on the basis of his flamboyant fuku.

Europa made the split-second decision to round up. "Nineteen," she said, because she would be at the end of the month. If he was about to judge her for being a kid then she needed to get as close to the drinking age as truthfully possible.

"I vote," she asserted, feeling inadequate. "I pay for my own groceries."

Because this was a sure sign of maturity if there ever was one.

"Oh! So you are the leader of the Jovian Court!" he gasped, his leniency with mocking her quickly thrown to the side. He wasn't really sure he liked the idea of following a -- nineteen-year-old? Somehow that seemed generous. But he wasn't going to question it. Either way, she was much younger than she was, and he wasn't all that enthusiastic about that. Even if she did have nice legs.

"My apologies, Your Grace," he bowed again, just because it seemed to bother her. "All powerful leader of the Jovian Court. Babydoll must have forgotten to mention that to me. I humbly implore your forgiveness!"

He remained in the bow for a few moments, before slowly rising again, giving her a look that probably seemed more judging than he meant it to seem. "Congratulations," he mumbled, clearly unimpressed. She was nineteen, older than a bunch of the children fighting, but they all knew very little about the consequences of war, he was sure.

It wasn't that he judged her for being younger than drinking age... it also had to do with him not being able to see what she was capable of. Just standing around and talking instead of teaming up for taking out a youma like he'd done with Ganymede, well... it left a lot of gaps in his list of 'qualities of a leader'. Sure, she might be taking the initiative of talking to him, but what else was there?
PostPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 8:47 pm

On a scale of one to Castor, Sessrumnir was batting a thousand. Europa gave him a singularly nonplused look. "If you're holding out for someone older," she informed him, "You're not going to find them. This is a children's crusade - at least on our side." Sometimes it hardly seemed fair, especially when you factored in chibi senshi or even regular senshi who were Callisto's age, that they were all compelled by destiny to fight an enemy made up at least in part by adults.

Maybe that was part of their public image problem: Adults had influence. Kids just had to shut up and keep their heads down. Or else they got scolded and talked down to. Like she was being talked down to right now. Europa felt positively deflated, but she couldn't show it. The Jovian Court had a mission, and if it couldn't even unite the knights and senshi of Jupiter under a single flag then the court had failed.

A car backfired at the end of the street, and Europa glanced in the direction of the noise. She'd been pulled into the conversation, but now the Senshi of the Deep was once more aware of her surroundings. "We should move," she said, after a moment of trying to sense the area. There wasn't anything on her mental radar, but that didn't mean they weren't attracting attention.

Europa gestured to another roof, some four houses distant. "That one," she said, giving him an 'are you coming?' glance before breaking into a trot. With a series of graceful jumps, she made her way to the indicated rendezvous point and glanced back for the Page.

If anything, she felt she'd proven herself an accomplished roof-runner. That always took newbies a few weeks to perfect.

Sessrumnir frowned at her comment, deciding not to respond. He wasn't interested in her, per-say. It was just something to pass the time with. The fact that she was confirming his observations on the ages of most of the people fighting, though... he couldn't say that he was all that thrilled.

When the car backfired, the page glanced in the same direction as Europa, before realizing that she was getting ready to head out, or at least change locations. Well, of course that was a good idea. He hadn't thought conversing while letting off their strange energies was very smart to begin with, but at least she wasn't proving herself to be incompetent by not realizing that.

While he'd trained in high energy situations, such as jumping out of helicopters and planes and badass s**t like that, he certainly couldn't claim to be very graceful about it, so at least Eternal Sailor Europa of the Jovian Court had that going for her. He watched as she took the lead, but eventually followed, although making sure to take his time since he was still getting used to being able to jump a much farther distance than he was used to. Eventually, though, he was fully expecting on knowing his limits.

"So are you?" he finally asked, dropping the attitude for at least a short while, once they'd reached their destination. "The leader of the Jovian court?" Not that he knew much about it. How many members, what their goals were, all that jazz, but at least there was some kind of structure going on.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 04, 2011 10:34 am

Europa watched him land, trying to gauge his experience based on his movements. It was tricky to be sure, though. He certainly wasn't as graceful as she was, but then again... that was always the case with men, wasn't it? (She felt bad for thinking so, except experience dictated as much.)

"Yes," she replied, as she circled the rooftop checking for security cameras or youma hidden in the shadows. "Interim, at least," she added bashfully. Europa was still trying to guide the Jovians to self-sufficiency, instead of a team that relied on their captain to bring them together. Ultimately she hoped that they would develop strong enough bonds to work together unprompted.

"More like a union representative than a supreme general," she settled for describing herself as. "We're trying to run it as a democracy, really. To make sure no one is forced into missions they think are wrong."

That what where the Blood Moon had gone wrong, wasn't it? Europa couldn't help but frown slightly. Was being forced into situations no teenager should have to face what had broken Leto?

"Everyone has a voice. And everyone's got the whole team behind them," she assured him. "Being a Jovian means you never have to be alone."

Sessrumnir made his way over to her, his arms crossed over his chest, snorting lightly at her hopes for the Jovians working together. "You expect a bunch of unruly teenagers to be able to come to an agreement on something and work together?" he wondered out loud, although he had his own opinions on the topic. He just wanted to see what she would say. It wasn't impossibile, but if there was one note of discord, well... it would break the entire symphony attempting to be played.

"It sounds like you've got some basics down, at least," he pointed out with a small nod to her last comment. "Did everyone agree on that moto, or are you using your place 'union representative' to decide that?" From when he'd spoken to Ganymede, it had seemed as though they were really new, and didn't know what they were doing besides rounding up people with Jupiter attached to their names. If anything, it was a nice idea, to be able to work together in a war like this. It was unrealistic that everyone would agree on something, though. And the words and mottos and phrases being used were too flowery for his tastes.

But everyone was a critic, right?

"I'll tell you what. Next time there's one of your little... meetings or whatever... have Ganymede give me a call. He's got my number already," he said, trying to look on the bright side of things, and not the fact that they should all be asleep and getting ready for school the next morning.

"We haven't got an official motto," sighed Europa, feeling distinctly misunderstood. She'd break him of his condescension yet - nearly nineteen and if that wasn't old enough to not be treated like a child then there was no such thing as a responsible adult. "And I never said it would be easy!" A group of unruly teenagers, indeed - but she had her hopes up. Wherever there was a willingness to cooperate there would eventually be cohesion.

At the very least, she was getting the impression that Sessrumnir felt some kind of fondness for Ganymede - and as far as Europa was concerned, that was going to be invaluable. "I'll have him keep you posted," she nodded. Hopefully being invited would be synonymous with showing up, but she had her reservations as well... Sessrumnir seemed keen on picking her arguments for unification apart, and she wasn't sure if she wanted him at one of their meetings if all he'd do was sow discord.

It was a work in progress - he was right about that much - but Europa was still determined to not show weakness in the face of this older (but far less experienced!) page. "You shouldn't be so keen on knocking us down," she assured him, by way of what she meant to be a parting comment. "After all, there's safety in numbers. It was... interesting to meet you, Sessrumnir."

The Page gave the young woman another glance over, feeling as if he'd done enough to be a jerk that night. He hadn't really taken much time to get to know her before jumping down her throat about little things, so backing off a little seemed to be okay for the moment.

Besides, she wasn't too affected by his nitpicking.

"It was interesting meeting you too, Europa," he said with a small incline of his head, laying off the Jovian stuff at least for a little bit.

And since their conversation seemed to have come to a close, Sessrumnir took a few steps back from the senshi, giving her some space. She could have taken it a lot worse — his attitude. But she almost surprised him. Maybe she was fit to claim 'lead' of this little group.

"Stay safe," he added, lifting a hand to give her a small wave before turning towards the opening to an alleyway below. He wasn't all that sure if he wanted to be involved in any kind of group effort just yet, but it was nice to see some of these people at least trying to make something work.

How long it would last, he was sure now one really knew, but it was the thought that counted. Usually.
