It had been a couple of days since the attack on the field trip. Night was feeling...Odd. Like he wasn't all together himself anymore. He walked around the dorms like a true ghost, silent, floating and a little foreboding. It was unusual for the normally cheerful attention seeking cat.
His fingers played with the piece of Red's horn, a memento for him to forever remember the professor who had died protecting them. It had, in some lights, changed his perspective on his school like.
And it haunted him in his dreams, even being around Simone was hard, she had been badly hurt during the battle as well. It was like so much had come crashing on the little kitten that he couldn't take it all in at once.
With that note though, He heard of a female ghost in the school, one with the powers to help him? Perhaps should could, Perhaps she couldn't. He'd leave that all up to luck but, given his whole bad luck thing, it probably wouldn't end up well.
"Come on Ghoul...What am I looking for here?" Night snorted. Just who was he looking for after all?

As per usual, Amarus wasn't really resting, nor was she doing anything particularly important. She played idly with the metal lotus attached to her long hair, trying not to cut her hands with the edges. She stretched, and wandered down the hall in the ghost dorms, looking for somewhere to sit down. A comfy chair, maybe? She didn't like to rest, but she did fall asleep when she was bored, and so that was seeming like an increasing possibility.
She had maintained her visibility; even though she was a ghost, some part of her wanted to be as tangible as possible, as close to being "alive" as she could. Was it a weakness or a strength, to be able to fluctuate in tangibility? Was it comforting to remain in one form? Or two tangible forms, she supposed, in the case of those whose natural forms were altered by the pin. She picked at hers idly, where it rested on her sash.
She heard someone else wandering around, and instead of lowering herself onto the couch she just found, she searched for the source of the voice, wishing she had brought Jin out with her. Jin was always a comforting presence. She couldn't very well keep a pet with her all the time, however. "Looking for someone?" Amarus asked the boil, once she was able to -- or at least she assumed she was looking at another ghost -- see him.
Her aura, once he was within earshot, would soothe him. That was the nature of the lotus-eater spirit: a heavy narcotic, when processed by her ghostly essence it could envelope anyone nearby and take their worries away. Kind of counter-effective, perhaps, but Amarus was not the kind of ghost who thrived on scaring others through violence, or shock value. She was the kind that could net the unwilling, convince them to stay, and they would feel as though they had lost something important if they were taken away or left her presence. Lotus eaters were dangerous in that they made reality feel tenuous. But Amarus wasn't out to use any of that on this cat-like ghost. He seemed sad, and she thought vaguely that he was cute. "What's got you so grim?" she asked the boil, motioning over one shoulder for him to follow her. She simply took the extra bit of walking back to the chairs and couches, and rested on the couch. When she walked, it was as though her feet still touched the ground, even if she was hovering.

Night jumped at the soft voice of a female but instantly calmed down. It was like a haze had gone over his senses as he turned slowly to face a pretty little flower ghost. He never really kept up his ghost phasing ability and rather....walked around like a normal creature. Most mistook him for a demon or a monster until he actually phased through walls or something. No, he didn't like to NOT be seen, how were you suppose to get cuddles then?
He blinked at her before coking his head, "Well yes actually. I heard there was a new ghost that had the ability to help relax certain sense." He put lamely. In truth he didn't really know what the ghoul could do, at least the one he needed to find. "Your new here too huh? Well I'm not new but it seems we have a lot of new ghost students popping up everywhere." He smiled at the thought, usually the ghost dorms we're pretty abandoned. No pun intended but, it did feel a little like a ghost town in the dorms.
He was slowly starting to feel a soothing effect, his body seemed so much lighter and heavier at the same time. Like floating on the ground. His worries didn't seem all so bad the longer he was in her presence and he almost forgot to answer her question, lost in the relaxation of whatever the ghoul was giving off. "Wait...your the ghoul!" He said in a loose voice, "The one I was looking for." He nodded and followed her to the couches before sitting on the ground. It was obvious that neither of them were going to probably move anywhere fast, Night was too much bliss to ever leave, especially since all that waited him were morbid and saddening thoughts.
"Grim?" he sighed before resting his head in his hand, "Your new so you probably don't know her but, one of our teachers died recently. It was pretty traumatic event. We had to fight, and a lot of people got hurt." Night looked at the girl. "I haven't been able to sleep well since then, I'm always on edge, like I'm going to get attacked again. Even now..." He shuddered on slightly as he felt the odd wariness he had developed. "I don't mean to unload like this though on you, with you being new and all. Something is making me really relaxed. What is it?"

Amarus didn't mean to make him jump, but at least she was able to soothe him afterwards. Amarus didn't know, herself, how it worked, but she was beginning to figure it out. After all, she always felt such great calm in herself, how could she be surprised when others were calm as well? It just made sense. She was so calm, it should rub off on anyone interacting with her. It was hard to mistake Amarus for anything other than a ghost, as even if she tried to remain solid, her feet tended to fade into semi-transparency. Like Night, however, she preferred to remain tangible and solid: probably some last vestige of living, a reflex to cling to solidity. Unlike Night, she wasn't doing it for cuddles. Amarus was neutral to cuddling.
On the one hand, she felt incredibly calm. On the other hand, she wasn't able to feel emotions very fully. Yet, at any rate; perhaps with practice, she could unlock them, but that was yet to be seen. She could feel the emotions there, but they felt so far away. Maybe she could reach them. Right now, however, she felt that same sense of detachment. It was a little like sleep-walking. Amarus smiled as Night described her own ability. "Yes, I'm new. Well, new to the Academy. I've been around for a long while." Vague memories of her painting-home. "Are they? That's a shame. So far you're the only ghost I've really met," she said.
She could kind of see the effect taking over. He seemed like he was learning to relax, a little. But her effect wasn't all-powerful: if he could embrace it, and understand the feeling, he could follow through. Without it, his worries would keep coming back. Amarus' voice was useful for that; she was so calm that if she kept on speaking, usually she could lull others into a sense of security. It would be terrifying, if she applied it for anything harmful. Like being caught in a spider's web. With Night, and so far, she had no desire to do any such thing. But even without trying, she would steal time, make someone miss her. The Lotus Smoke was addictive. Amarus sat on the couch cushion with her legs folded under her, as if about to medidate, and stroked one hand across Night's hair without thinking twice about it. A comforting gesture, not an affectionate one. "It probably is me, yes. Unless there's another Lotus ghost around," she said, her voice hinting at amusement. Would be strange to have two of her wandering around.
"Mmm... I heard something about it, but no one will explain." She tilted her head as she looked down at Night, her bells jingling. "Did you get hurt?" she asked. Her voice, when she spoke, was soft and rhythmic, even though her eyes seemed to vary between degrees of chilly silver. "I don't mind at all... hmm, what's your name? I'm Amarus."
She paused, thinking about how to explain an ability which was not yet fully clear to her. "I think it has something to do with my essence, with these--" she raised the purple-pink glow of flames on her skin, letting higher flames lick her hand. Painless, soft light. "I feel an immeasurable sense of calm. I think that, somehow, anyone near me feels the same. It has its downsides, though." She smiled, slightly, and closed her eyes to lean back against the couch, unfolding her legs.
"You can lose track of time more easily, and it might hurt when you try to leave. Not physical, just... well, you know it's nice to feel calm, right? It's unpleasant to face your full emotions again, I imagine. But now that I've told you, just try your best to ignore it when you have to go. Shouldn't be too hard." Amarus didn't usually tell anyone about this, it just didn't occur to her, or some part of her was sadistic. She, like anyone else, would surely want her friends to return to her.
"Maybe you can get some sleep; tell me anything you want, let go of your worries?" Amarus kept her voice low, soft, rhythmic. Every so often, she would tilt her head, ringing the bells again. It almost sounded like a temple ritual.

"Ah." Night looked at her again before cocking his head. "I suppose that's true. I think I just woke up....in the academy one day. I don't remember much of anything else before that." His head shifted again, loosely lolling around before raising an eyebrow at her, "Really? Well I am honored my lovely. I'm the first cat right too?" he smiled again before winking at her. That would double make him happy. Her first Ghost AND her first Cat! Score? "Oh...Yeah, Just the other day I saw two kids walking around somewhere. They would've looked identical had one not had some acid green eyes." His ears flattened before rising up again. He hadn't got a good look at the two after all.
"Ah...I haven't seen another Lotus girl..." He sniffed before looking her over again. Yep, he would recognize if he did. Rocking on his sitting place on the round, he continued to peer up at her.
"Yeah it was a pretty traumatic event for all of us around, and more so people who were involved." He sighed before shrugging, "Not so bad. Some walked away with scars, other walked away with a lot less. I think it was more....discouraging for us then anything. Oh, Name's Ngihtengale XIII, though you can call me Night or Kitten for short." He smiled happily. He wasn't energetic just...loose.
His eyes widened at her explanation for nodding understandably. "Haha, Okay well, If I just think of it like Catnip, it won't be too bad right?" He frowned before looking at her. "Sure you want to hear it all?" Whatever she was doing now was making the kitten even more relaxed and well, he just wanted for a brief moment to be able to express how he felt. He was a carefree cat after all, not one to mind things, it just seemed after the Red event well....Face Your Demons LONG OVERDUE TAG IS LONG AND OVERDUE OMG I AM SO SORRY

Amarus smiled, her bells ringing as her head tilted. She regarded Night curiously, for a moment. It was true, he was the first cat she had met, as well as the first other of the same species. She didn't get out a lot, apparently. "Do you know of many other cat ghosts?" she asked. Hm, two kids that looked the same? Perhaps this was more common in Amityville than she may have expected. It would be troublesome for her to differentiate between twins; unlike Night, she had no animal sense of smell, so it would pretty much be based on mannerisms and appearance. Appearance, having failed her, would fall back to mannerisms, but she'd actually have to get to know them in order to recognize the differences... perhaps she would just treat any such sets as an entity in and of itself.
Well, at least there wasn't more than one of her wandering around. "In that case, nice to meet you, Night. Kitten," she added, her smile spreading. She wondered what had happened that had harmed some, not others, discouraged all... what could have been so overwhelming? Reflexively, she reached into the bank of her Lotus Eater calm and used it to ease any of her own apprehensions.
"Yes," she agreed, "Catnip is exactly what this is like." As far as she knew. Given she had just met him, she had never actually seen what catnip did, but she imagined it would be similar, knowing what it was from colloquialisms.
Amarus petted Night's head again, stroking a hand through his hair. "Of course I'm sure,"she said, "nothing can ruffle me, so why don't you share, and maybe soon you will sleep again?"
