It was seven am the next morning all too quickly.

All the trainees, even the ones that were not assigned on the Haunted House mission had received a text requesting their immediate attendance to the training exercise by the fields at said seven am sharp the next morning. It was raining lightly said morning, a fair bit of wispy fog covering the ground. Though the training field itself as comprised of several smaller segments, including housing some of the famous division challenges, it was also very empty: it seemed not a lot of Hunters were early risers, or they had much more important matters to deal with. Standing at the entrance of the fields was a single figure.

They were turned around, but the marking on the back of their coat was unmistakeable, the two scythes crossed over for the Death division. Some of the more observational trainees might have noticed how Caelius however, seemed to have picked up a new jacket, this design was far more simpler than the usual. He also seemed to have shrunk. And grown red hair. And, as the figure turned around, some of the slower trainees might have finally put two and two together to realize this was not Caelius at all.

"Benjamin." The stranger helpfully supplied, giving them a rather generous nod, missing entirely the blank look on the trainees faces for reasons other than not knowing his name. "But you can call me Ben, I usually help run emergency tactics for the Death division. You are the trainees I have been assigned to practice sparring with right?"

-All trainees are invited to this sparring session, though only those in the mission follow up ORP managed to chat with Caelius post HH mission

Red hair? Okay, no, that definitely wasn't Caelius, which meant this was some bullshit. Madison groaned inwardly. She'd gotten up early, she was slowly getting soaked, her awesome shoes were muddy, and she'd put on pants underneath her flowing white coat, which looked stupid. Also, her coat was definitely going to get muddy too. Whose idea was it to use white coats anyway?! Stupid.

At least Kouki was excited. Practice, practice, the weapon hummed in four-part harmony. Maybe we will get to eat?

"Maybe," Madison mumbled, then stifled a yawn and straightened as she came up to stand with the rest in front of... Ben? That was a normal name! Okay, she kinda liked this guy now based solely on that. "I think so, sir - what do we need to do?" Madison asked. She summoned Kouki, the bracelet vanishing from around her wrist; a moment later, the swords and scabbards appeared on the belt around her waist.

Practice, practice~ We're hungry.

Shh.

Bix had been prepared this time. The last time there was an early training session, there was only a vague indirect note. This time he was ready and much like when he was still in school, he arrived on time and fully dressed. He may have been bleary eyed but you never got scored on that.

It didn't take more than a second to realize that Caelius wasn't actually here. This new death hunter was smaller and so far less intimidating. Bix was a bit disappointed that the new face was not a fellow Sun hunter. He'd yet to meet his own squad leader!

"Hi Ben." Bix gave a small wave. "I'm Bix.. umm Sun trainee. Oh hey Madison!" He gave her a bright smile, glad that it wasn't saaaay.. Marcus.

Following her lead he pulled out the marbles, clutched between his fingers, and his bow formed in his hand with a flash of light.

******** his life. Seven am getting up in the morning, got to be fresh, got to go eat. Got to have his bowl, got to have cereal; seeing everything, time is going. Tickin’ on and on, everybody was rushing. Got ot get down to the training field. Got to catch the class, he saw-
Some dude.
Talk about disappointment. And a healthy mix of relief. Caelius was bitchtastic the other day, and Marcus had had his helping of b***h for the week thank you. Some new guy? Oh well, anybody was better than the Crazy doctor and the hair horror. The guy had red hair and for a split second Marcus wondered if it was a dye job. Red hair threw him for a bit sometimes. Oh well. Aside from hair being this week’s flavor of distraction, Marcus yawned as he arrived, a small wave to the death hunter replacement. “Good morning sir.” A roll of his shoulders as Dis starting singing about something stupid in the back of his head. “I am pretty sure we are? Caelius said to be here at seven AM. So…” The moon trainee shrugged. “I am guessing you’re filling in for him?”

Eyes looked at The other two who arrived. "Morning Mads." A half awake semi 'I dont even give a ********' look was given at Bix. "Bix."

Sadism. Definitely sadism. Come to think of it, the sparring session would have come out to being a punishment either way. But Jordan was quietly relieved that they weren't going to have to face off against Caelius after all. This way they might actually learn something, rather than receiving a simple beatdown. He nodded to Benjamin and followed the other trainees' example, summoning his weapon.

Are we going to get a proper fight? Even if Ferros was still in a bad mood, he definitely sounded more cheerful at the prospect of sparring.

Looks like. You ready? Jordan studied Ben with interest. Melee weapon, he was guessing, most likely. He wondered, very quietly, if Ben was also some kind of crazy, or if that was reserved for section heads.

"G'morning Bix... hey, Marcus," Madison added, a little surprised that the older Hunter actually knew who she was. Then again, she knew who he was, so... it was probably fair?

We're getting wet, Kouki said, suddenly.

... That's because it's raining, genius.

We don't like it.

Deal. "G'morning, Jordan," she said with a wave.

"Marcus." Bix didn't even turn his head for the other. His eyes simply slid to the side in the other guy's direction. He did turn when Jordan came up though and Bix gave him a wave.

What's that word you use? Douche?
I can't believe you just said that.

"So.. where's Caelius?" He may as well ask. I think a few of the others wanted a good shot at their fearless leader. Bix was indifferent but he was curious. He was also curious to see Ben's weapon.

They were obviously the coolest part of the job.

As expected, the message to get to the field was given at an ungodly hour that wasn't even what the Boxer considered morning as he jogged his way onto the meeting place. The sun's light barely hit the landscape as he let out an uncharacteristic yawn and stared at the obviously not Cael person standing there greeting them. Must have been getting his beauty sleep he mused quietly to himself.

Is it time for breakfast yet?

and one yawn was followed by a sigh. "No Nid, its time to get to work, you can eat later." he said quietly as he fiddled with his coat and gloves that was still hanging haphazardly over his shoulder. "Right, I suppose Ben." he said sternly and turned around to give a little pat on the shoulder to Marcus and Jordan. "Glad to see you two made it, wheres Cass and his royal bitchiness, Jude?" he asked soon afterward, watching the two hunters with mild interest.

"Morning," Jordan said, nodding back to Maddie and the others. He'd had time for half a cup of coffee; expecting coherent verbal conversation out of him at this point was futile, though he wasn't deliberately ignoring anyone. Early morning, rain, and insufficient caffeine. It wasn't the best way to start a day, that was for sure.

"Filling in for.... Caelius." Ben repeated, giving the trainees the oddest look. "Caelius has been bedridden ever since he came back, considering how severe his injuries are, it is a miracle if he could even walk. You expect him to just magically pop out of his bed and-"

And then a lightbulb seemed to go off for the assigned instructor. "Ah. I see, you are 'those trainees' aren't you? The ones who came back after the backyard incident, the strays, or what's what everyone's been calling you guys." He snorted. "Special circumstances indeed. All right, everyone, weapons out, take a stretch first, breathe deeply, and get used to being up at these ungodly hours. I'll give you guys a few minutes to get warmed up before we really get the party started."

It was much too early in the morning to be awake.

<< You are not a morning person, are you. >>

"Not...in...the...slightest," came the grumbled reply as Gale dragged himself down to the field to meet with the other trainees, stifling several yawns in the process.

There were already a few others on the field - Bix, Madison, Jordan, Marcus and Leon - and Gale slouched over to them, a very grumpy look on his face.

"You're quite bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning," he said, giving the albino hunter a somewhat disgruntled look. Rather than wear his uniform, Gale was in a pair of sweats and a teeshirt, his hair pulled back into a rather messy ponytail.

He gave Jordan a lifted hand in greeting, nodded to the rest, and then turned to face Caelius.

...who wasn't actually Caelius.

"Benjamin?" said Gale bluntly. "Who're..."

He trailed off, eying the redheaded man with a look of mild suspicion. "The - excuse me - what? Strays?"

It wasn't really a tone of outrage or accusation; more one of bemusement, Gale's eyes sweeping the Ben's face for any indication of what exactly he was talking about.

Except this was Deus Ex - no answers were given freely here. At least, no answers that weren't cryptic and took six hours to figure out.

With a resigned sigh, Gale held out his left hand. The ring glowed brightly for a moment, the vanished, the sniper rifle appearing in his fingers.

"It's too early for this."

A small wave to Jordan, and a smirk for Leon. Bix was just given mental stares and glares of 'yeah up yours'.
At his a**.
No Dis.
Spoil sport.

Aside from Dis and Bix, the cool air was starting to give him goose bumps. Rubbing his hands, Marcus shrugged at Leon's question. "No idea. My guess would be they slept in. Can't really blame them." Especially considering how he'd crashed after filling out the report. Something Ben said though-
"Bedridden?" He'd been up the other day. "We say him in class but he hardly looked bedridden. His hair was s**t but he didn't look like he was the type to be bedridden." oops. Maybe saying the hunter's hair was s**t. OH WELL.

"Anyway", just breeze over that please, "What do you mean- Oh Morning Gale." Congrats you all were discovering Marcus could be a morning person. "I am going to make a shot in the dark, but I think that we're going to have to used to morning." A smile. "Store away some coffee before bed. It'll help."

It was becoming clear that not many people here had a early morning session as the droopy eyed teammates around was any indication, point proven by when Gale trudged his way up to the group. "Think they might need to invest in a timed coffee maker for some people, or make one." he said in an even tone before whirling back around to the substitute instructor and his interesting choice of words.

"Those trainees?" he practically sputtered before continuing on. "The strays? Care to enlighten some of us to what that's supposed to mean?" and what does this Ben do first after greeting them? Of course, he didn't respond to that, which was yet another tick to his eyebrow for the day.

Why insult and mock them, yep. He worked with Cael all right. With an irritated growl, the boxer struck out his arm and the tooth necklace began to glow and twitch when the chainsaw materialized into an open gloved palm and goggles were nestled comfortably over his eyes. "guess there's nothing like heavy machinery running to wake everyone up." he grumbled out as he gave Nid a few revs in the air, for warm ups of course.

"It's never too early for a healthy workout Gale."
Or for BREAKFAST
PostPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:26 pm

Bix flashed Gale a smile, his friend seeming pretty miserable. He was about to open his mouth when Leon summoned his chainsaw and started to rev it. His winced visibly and his smile fell when the noise ripped into the morning air. It reminded him of when his dad would decide to cut firewood in the early morning hours only a few yards away from his bedroom window. Bix, despite being good in the morning, found no reason for it to be noisy.

Mornings should be peaceful.

He didn't quite appreciate that their group of hunters was already known and had a a questionable nickname. The other guys seemed to have the questioning covered though. Bix simply sidled nearer to Gale and idly ran his hands over the feathers on his bow.

"Coffee," said Gale, with as dignified a voice as he could muster while looking like the walking dead. " - is a vile drink."

He had never really understood the desire for the blackened drink that tasted of styrofoam and burnt plastic. Perhaps it was the whole British tea thing, though Gale had never really found a particular desire for that drink either.

Marcus got a nod in greeting, Gale stifling yet another yawn - which turned into a wince pretty quickly when he heard a loud, obnoxious roaring sound much too close by.

"Must you do that?"

<< Someone is clearly not a morning person. >>

Please tell me it did not take you this long to discover that.

<< No, I just thought you were perpetually grumpy. >>

That's you, actually.

<< Say what you wish. >>

Gale rolled his eyes, leaning both hands on the rifle with his hand on top of them as he yawned for the third time, eyes fluttering tiredly. He still, of course, had no answers as two this Benjamin person was, but he was starting to not care, itching to either get started or go back to sleep.

"Sleep well?" he asked Bix, for lack of a better conversation topic.
