Sailor Nyx entered the field light on her feet, if only because she was still on a high from winning her last match-up. It wasn't the same thrill as practically cheating death as this sailor-suited job was wont to entail, but it was a kindlier one to remember. She adjusted her ornaments into the same slots as last time: at the shoulder and the waist.

Looking across the field, she saw that her opponent was a fellow senshi this time -- a rather impressive one, at that. Were those wings instead of a bow behind her? Nyx had seen those before and the one thing she was certain was that it meant big power.

"I'm Sailor Nyx, senshi of phantasmagoria." She paused, taking a stance and giving a moment for her opponent to introduce herself if she was inclined.

But that was the last moment she was willingly giving up, and Sailor Nyx charged ahead. She feigned left and then slid to the right at the last moment. It looked rather sloppy, with Nyx barely keeping herself from tumbling off somewhere else entirely, but she thought she had felt an ornament in her path nonetheless.

Hit: 1 Damage

Whether her blow had done much damage, Sailor Nyx had no time to tell. A rather glaring flaw in her attack was revealed the minute she skid to a halt: though it had put her in a good spot to attack Sailor Maia's ornament, it had also left her on the ground and without the wherewithal to get up effectively. Meaning a foot was coming right for her ornament! Her eyes widened in the desperate second, but thankfully her brain put her reaction on autopilot.

Scrambling out from under Maia's assault just in the nick of time, Nyx decided on her next attack. It was time to be direct!

"Not that easily!" she taunted, hoping it made her sound more dangerous than she felt, and grabbed at Maia's legs with her arms.

... Okay, so it wasn't the most dignified move ever.

Hit: 1

Sailor Nyx had used up most of her luck getting this far in the battle with little actual injury, but her inexperience really showed in how she was surprised that simply holding around Maia's legs would not get her into more trouble. (Little did she know of how her opponent was mercifully holding back!) Though Maia's smile was genuine, only a part of her could appreciate it -- while the other was berating herself for not fighting harder. She lost her grip and was hoisted up by the collar of her fuku -- feeling a bit like a petulant cat about to be scolded.

And scolded she was, tossed away and back to her good friend, the ground. One of the ornaments definitely cracked with the impact, holding on by a thread. However, Nyx wasn't going to make the same mistake again, and she stood quickly.

"For a senshi of song, you're tough," she admitted, brushing off some dirt. Then Nyx was back into the fray, sending a hook punch to the remaining ornament on Maia's upper forearm.

Hit: 2

The hit wasn't solid, but Nyx did think she was able to rattle it up, at least. Her opponent's kick that followed up was another close call and, in truth, half of what allowed Nyx to dodge was her own imbalance after the throwing the punch. She took a second to collect herself physically, while her mind mulled over what Maia had said.

"Eternal," Nyx repeated, allowing the word to settle in her mouth as well as her mind. Well, that was certainly an impressive title. And explained the power she had seen the winge'd type display before. Suddenly, Nyx was quite aware of the various brushburns from the grass and the aches in her muscles. All of her efforts seemed futile against Maia, who had stood her ground and done the same amount of 'damage.'

Though it would have been understandable to lose, she desperately didn't want to appear weak out here, in front of eternals and such. Forfiting was, similarly, off the table. There was one move the senshi of phantasmagoria hadn't tried yet, but... she didn't like it.

"Nyx Timorous Shadow!"

With her distraction up, she went in close for a desperate play at Maia's last ornament.

Nyx may not have liked having to use her power, yet she couldn't argue with the results. After she broke the last of Maia's ornaments, the bit of guilt (and shame, for Maia hadn't needed her attack) that had welled up from the reaction to her magic was blunted by the elation of winning her second match. Just about everything on her still ached and she thought she would fall over immediately after leaving the field... but now something could be claimed for her efforts.

"I think I had a lot of luck, too," Nyx said, taking up Maia's handshake firmly. "What you said about experience is true."

When the other senshi's phone popped up, Nyx was reminded of her own and copied the action. Her own was such a small library -- if only there had been time to catch more of their kind during the Surrounding.

"Rematch?" she said, thinking it over for a quick moment; there wasn't a downside to getting training from someone who had the title of 'eternal,' though. Punching youma in the face couldn't be the answer every time, and her magic was not really any offensive help. Not to mention the whole falling over occasionally thing. "That would be great! Just don't hold back anything," Nyx answered with composed excitement.
