Heze peeked from behind the bush, she often snuck over to watch the protectors and teh want to be protectors train. She couldn't help but grin whenever she saw her father training. In fact he was probably sick of telling her the same stories, she knew him and her mother exchanged a funny smile when it was her time to pick the story for the foals and she always asked for one of her favourites.
Her favourites were limited to the quest for the star, she had badgered her mother to show her it afterwards, after that every story her parents told was ghospel. She liked the one with the skinwalker fight... that had started as a warning to the foals, but wit her it had had the opposite effect, much to both parents dispair. But then she didn't ask for that because her sisters got scared. The other she asked for was the story of how her dad became a protector, that was her most favourite.
Heze watched through the bushes, and tried mimicing some of the moves, but mostly she watched and tried to commit everything to memory. She WOULD be a protector, and if she had to she was going to rock the boat to do it being a girl be fudged!

Crown had worked up quite a sweat with all the exercise. He was the youngest of the protectors here, and he was only allowed to do some of the duties closer to the herd.... a protection for himself and for the herd's future. He knew that when he proved himself on the field he would soon be able to take on more challenging duties... but until then he was happy to do his part for his family. Simply being here was a sign that Maion trusted him completely, after all Crown knew first hand that Maion was very protective of them all and would gladly scarifice his own life for any of them. It was for that reason that he worked hard to be the best he could.
Although the session wasn't completely over Crown had to go get a drink, his mouth overly dry from his work out. He backed away from the group, bowing his respects to Maion, Sonnet and Drashi alike as he took his leave. The trainings were optional but always fun.
Not looking where he was going his rump struck a bush, he jumped, spinning around before realising what he had done. His cheeks flushed red instantly, and he couldn't help but feel like he had just made a fool of himself infront of the stallions that meant the world to him. With a nervous cough he took one last look at the bush before making a move to go around it.... it was then he saw a flash of purple. He blinked. Stopped again and focuses on the colour.... sure enough it was there. Joined with.... black and white wings? He smiled, only just stopping himself from laughing in amusement. "Hello Heze." He said to his younger cousin.

Heze looked up, blinking at her cousin, going pink at being caught peeking as she giggles nervously. "Hello... Crown...." Fidgiting a little, admiration in her eyes as she looked at him, he was living her dream and though still learning he was much closer than she was. Glancing back at the others before turning to him again. "Please don't tell..." The wings on the head drooping a little.

Crown looked over his shoulder to see the other protectors working away. With a smile he nodded, "Agreed.... if you don't tell anyone about my collision with a bush? It was a mean bush but still.... I have a reputation." He teased and winked at her. Noticing her little ear wings flopping on her head as if in defeat Crown found himself drawn to help her, and no matter how thirsty he was he always had time for someone who needed him. "Come on you.... I want to tell you something." Crown had never told Heze about how he had become a protector, of how he had practically ambushed Maion after every training session he had spied on.... much like Heze. He couldn't help but see himself in her.

She looked at him, her pail eyes thinking for a moment. "I won't tell about the bush." She looked round and stoped a low branch. "There it won't do it again!" Grinning up at him. "You look hot, lets go get a drink and you can tell me anything you want." Almost bouncing, hoping for more protector stories.

Crown couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction, she was definatly a sweety... and Crown had a feeling she would break some poor guys heart one day, well... if they could hold their own against her that was. She was definatly more stubborn and tough than most of the mares in the herd. "Sounds like a plan." He started towards the lake, the water was always so much more refreshing in his mind.
Before he told her about his story he was curious about just how alike they were.... "So Heze..... why do you watch the trainings?" He glanced over at her.

She trotted after him, catching up and keeping pace, her smaller legs havign to work more but she had energy to burn. "I'm going to be a protector when I get big!" No I want to be or I hope, no wishes and middle ground. I'm going to be, emphatic and decisive, she had decided her path and was going to walk it till she made it.

Crown found himself heartly chuckling, she really was.... just like he been! "Good." He said, not trying to turn her away from her dream, after all that wasn't the Miakoda way. No if she wanted to do it, Crown would be there for her every step fo the way. "You know.... I was once like you?" he said, looking down at her with a smile. "I used to hide and watch as well, then I would sneak off to a secret area that I had scouted out with my sister Eden." He remembered the area well, a small break in the trees, surrounded securely on every side by trees. "I would try and copy all the moves." He found himself laughing, remembering all the injuries he obtained, and the number of times he went home covered in mud -much to his mothers dislike.
The lake was coming into sight, his mouth was begging for a drink so with a playful n** of her mane he said, "A protector must be strong and fast..... catch me...." He started running, "....if you can!" The pace he set wasn't overly fast, after all he wanted to give her a fighting chance.

Heze had a moment to grasp what was going on, she had been listening and then he was running. Fast... Right... Breaking into an all out run, hr smaller wings flapping now and then to give her an extra burst of speed. Small hoves drumming she didn't call out for him to slow down, or call him a cheater, she focused and ran as fast as she could.

Crown could hear the pounding of hooves, they were getting closer and he couldn't help but feel proud of her for it. The smile refused to leave his face, even as the edge of the water came into sight. He didn't slow his pace, knowing that she would consider that allowing her to win, though he had a feeling she was about to match the pace he had set. Impressive for someone so small and young.
With a splash of hooves he entered the lake, turning slightly to see that she was with him. "Draw." He happily declared with a smile, though part of him expected her to fight and tell him that she had won.

Running into the water right after him, but being much shorter she was soon out of her depth and swimming, her head popping up. Paddling around. "I'll beat you next time!" Splashing towards the shore, wading out and shaking herself off, shivering a little, the water having left her a little chilled.

Taking a few mouthfuls of water he turned to join her on the shore once more. With a quick shake of his mane he send a spray of waterdropplets around him, before focusing once more on Heze. "So...." He said with a smile, "how can we help you become a protector one day?"

Sitting on her rump, shovering a little. "I don't know." Standing and prancing around a little tring to get warmer. "I don't know what mommy, daddy, granma and grandpa will say... Knowing for her to have a chance she would need to get all of thme to agree with her choice.

In a way Crown was a little jealous that Maion was Heze's grandfather by blood. Sure Maion had always treated him like an adopted son, but his father was Rune the brother to Maion's mate Sengdroma. The alpha pair were so strong and caring, always seeming to have room for everyone in their hearts. Without even thinking about it he knew they would accept whatever Heze wanted to do, though he could see Maion being extra protective of her... not because she was a girl, but because she was his blood. "If you want to do it..." he found himself saying, "...I am sure they will all stand by you." Noticing that she was shivering, her body so much smaller to his own he walked towards her, wrapping his wing around her as best as he could as he pulled her towards him to share his heat. "I know you can do it."
Deciding it was something she needed to figure out in her own head he dropped the subject and turned back to his story. "You know... I used to follow your grandfather around, copy him, bombard him with questions over and over again." He chuckled, "He probably hated me for it, though he never said."
