When he arrived at Amityville High, the first thing Gale Gentry noticed was that he was, mercifully, still male.

This was followed by the inevitable "What the bloody hell I have ears and a tail."

He was taller, at the very least - tall and lanky, and wearing a pair of worn jeans and a teeshirt. At first he had thought he was relatively normal - at least, until he caught his reflection in one of the windows of the school.

Pointed, pale ears protruded from the top of a head of tousled black hair that was tied into a long (very long, reaching most of the way down his back) ponytail at the base of his neck. A thick, bushy tail swung behind him, curling around his leg and ending with a black tip.

A dog? thought Gale, eyebrows drawing together in confusion as he stared down at himself. Just a dog?

<< I think you're an Inugami, actually. >> came Jinhai's voice in his head. << A type of demon. >>

Hmmm...

He tried flicking his tail. Obediently it swept to the left.

Strange...

<< Get used to it. We have a week to recover information. >>

Got it.

The mission Gale had been assigned to was to find out as much information as possible about the events that had just occurred not even a week ago. The instructions were to be on the lookout for any "suspicious activity among the students or teachers," as well as gather any sort of useful knowledge.

It would, perhaps, be a slightly tedious mission, but still a good one. Gale pushed some of the black bangs away from his face and adopted a casual stance.

Here goes nothing.

Striding with his hands in his pockets, Gale kept his eyes open for any sign of life among the empty grounds he was wandering about. Finally, just ahead, he caught sight of red hair and a fluffy red tail.

Aha.

Casually, as though it were merely accidental, Gale passed the girl slowly, then brushed his shoulder against hers, staggering a bit into her.

"Oh, pardon me," he said hastily, turning to face her with a surprised expression. "I didn't see you there."

She had finally gotten out to run again this morning. It had felt so wonderful to shift forms and just run. No particular place in mind to run to. Just let her legs carry her wherever while the wind racing along her fur teased and delighted the she-wolf. She was unsure just how long she ran as well. Only that by the time she had wondered back to her room for a relaxing shower sans minipet ambushes, it was afternoon-ish. The time just seemed to fly when she was lost in the blissful state of running.

But she had stuff she wanted to do today. People to check on. Which was why she was not curling back up on her pillows and instead getting ready to go visit (some long overdue visits at that) a few certain boils. The demon dorms as well as the ghost dorms would be receiving a visit from this female monster!

LW had to admit, she was still quite worried about Jove. The pup had not been himself when they returned home and she had yet to see him since then. Ren had, but that didn't make her feel better. The she-wolf wanted to see for herself the puppy was alright. Or well enough. Plus, she could peek in on Tybalt too. Maybe chill with him for a little bit. Then go see Gabrian.

Lost in her thoughts of events she was still trying to forget, working out a plan for the day, and deciding that she was going to spend the evening with her boilfriend, LW missed that one particular minipet of hers had snuck to follow her. Until he clamped 'lightly' on her tail. With a small startled sound, the she-wolf lifted her tail up to find BB glaring at her. Really? He was being ridiculously clingy! Although...it was kinda cute. In a non-terrible way.

"BB..." LW sighed and plucked the mimic off her tail, shaking it out behind her while she held her minipet...and was bumped into. She stumbled with a small squeak before regaining her balance.

She twisted around to face whoever had bumped into her, smile spreading when she realized it was someone new! "It's alright. No worries." LW eyed the boil. Ears and a tail. That distinct canine scent. But it was definitely not one she was familiar with. "I don't think we've met before. I'm LW." She offered him that kind smile of hers. "Are you new to the school?" If there was one thing she loved, it was meeting the new students around campus!

BB on the other hand, glared at this new male. He didn't like him (no surprise there). And he had a fluffy tail. His own little tail flicked as he let a toothy grin spread. That tail would be his! Sooner rather then later if this stupid boil tried anything he didn't like.

He didn't recognize this creature; she was short and slender, with a head of brilliant red hair, a thick, bushy red tail, and bright purple eyes filled with mischief and lightness.

And she was carrying - er, something. Something not exactly pleasant looking.

What, ah...is that?

<< The thing with the eyeball? A mimic; basically a pet of sorts. >>

Gale eyed the thing again. It was giving him a ferocious stare.

That...THING...is a pet?

<< Well, we here in Halloween have risen above just having pet rocks. >> came the sarcastic reply, and it took quite a bit of Gale's self control not to roll his eyes.

He looked back at the redhead.

"Ah," he said, one ear flicking experimentally towards the girl, then back again. "Yes, I, er...just arrived this morning. My name is Ga - er, Gallant."

A pathetic excuse, but it was the first thing that had popped into his head. Ignoring Jinhai's laughter, Gale smiled at the wolf-like creature in front of him.

"So, er...d'you think you might tell me a bit about what's been going on lately here at school?" he asked her cheerfully. "I'd like to get settled soon, so it'd be helpful. You know," he added. "Just anything I should know before attending classes and whatnot."

LW shoved the mimic into the crook of her arm so she could hold out a hand to this new boil. Her smile was as friendly and welcoming as it ever was. So he was new? Fantastic! It was always nice meeting a new face around campus. Actually, come to think of it, most of the people she met were from such accidental run-ins like this.

The she-wolf didn't catch the almost fumble over a name. "Gallant? It's a pleasure to meet you. Oh and this little guy is BB. Don't mind him. He glares at everyone." Said mimic was indeed glaring impressively.

"I'd be happy to. I can show you around, if you like. It's always helpful knowing where each of the dorms are." She gestured to the structure she had been heading towards down a path that seemed to split off from the one they stood on. "Like down there, for instance. That's the ghost dorms. They are pretty cool of you don't mind the cooler atmosphere. Oh and don't mind being underground. And that one there," she indicated the building next to it on the right. "Then that one farther down next to it is the monster dorms." The she-wolf gave Gallant a grin. "My dorm. I know that one like the back of my hand just about.

"That large building there, across from us is the reaper dorms. The undead and demon dorms are beyond that, on the other side." Her tail flicked as she eyed Gallant. "What dorms are you in, by the way? Have you found them?" What else had he asked? Something about classes. LW glanced over her shoulder, back towards the school building.

"As for classes..." she shrugged, with a mischievous look about her. "It really depends on the class and teacher. Do you have your classes figured out yet?" Maybe that would help her give him more of an idea of what to expect?

meez
...BB?

<< I told you - Mimic minipet. Nasty little buggers, so watch out. >>

He listened carefully while she pointed out the dorms, nodding at each one in turn.

Ugh, monster dorms. Undead dorms. It's like being in a horror movie.

"Ah, could you actually point me in the direction of the office or maybe a notice board of sorts where information (and a map) might be posted?" Gale asked, offering a sheepish smile. "I wanted to see if there was anything up about classes yet, since I'm not quite sure. Or would one go to the office for that?" He tapped his chin as though deep in thought.

<< ...the notice board? Why would you go there? >>

I dunno. Maybe there's something there that'll help out.

<< Or maybe it'll be filled with grafitti. >>

Either one.

kyributt
LW unconsciously started to run her fingers along the mimic in a 'petting' sort of motion. He was growling, though it probably sounded more like grumbles. The she-wolf gave Gallant a surprised look, almost shy even. Why hadn't she thought to recommend the notice board in the main school building? She even had the grace to have a blush form against her cheeks.

"O-Oh! Yes. The notice board is in the main part of the school. It occasionally has stuff about classes on there. I know I've found some good notices on there from a few of the Professor's I enjoy taking classes with." She gestured behind them at the large structure. "There. That's the main building. All classes - or most of them - occur in there. The office is in there as well. Though..." LW hesitated here, an image of a fight breaking out between the schools secretary and...Red.

"I-I'm not...one hundered percent sure the office has been, umm...repaired." Or if Arel was even in there. Skulls, this was probably a really bad time for new students to arrive. Things were...not quite at full calliber.

"But umm, the notice board would probably be a good place to start. Usually we just hear things over the ickycom about classes being open. Typically a day or less before they actually start. Have to be quick sometimes." The she-wolf gave him a kind smile. "I can show you where it's at, if you like?" She offered as BB narrowed his eye. Couldn't they be done with this boil?! Where was his lady master's boil anways?

meez
Clearly this creature was one of those perky, cheerful sorts. She had a mischievous sort of air about of her that made Gale a bit uneasy. However, she seemed to not mind his request, at the very least, and pointed out a large building just beyond the way. Gale imprinted it in his mind, then turned back to the creature, giving her a greatful smile.

"Ah, thank you," he said, and then asked, hopefully in an innocent way "What sorts of professors are your favorite? Just so I have a general idea of who to watch out for, who'll throw things at me if I fall asleep. You know," he added, grinning sheepishly. "That sort of thing."

...repaired? Gale's brows furrowed together. That's interesting...

"Repaired?" he echoed, tilting his head. "Doing some remodeling, then?"

<< Things are not the same; they're being cautious. >>

What the devil is an Ickycom?

<< A sound system for announcements. >>

Oh, an intercom.

<< A what? >>

Never mind.

"Ah, no thanks." he brushed off her offer with a smile, waving his hand. "That's not necessary, I can find it. But have there been any announcements lately? You know," he added quickly, realizing that might have sounded odd. "Anything I should know before I start here?"

kyributt
Oh curses. She didn't want to turn this boil away from any classes just because she may not have liked the Professor! And again, something tightened in her, tail flicking behind her. "Well, I personally love Professor Malcolm's minipet training classes." She grinned, nodding at the mimic, who flashed shiny fangs at Gallant. "It's great if you have any problem minipets. Or just want a class with a good Professor. Though, never trust how simple things might seem in his classes." The she-wolf snorted. "Nothing is ever as it seems."

Tilting her head a little in thought, a canine-like gesture, LW thought through her other Professor's. "If you like botany, Professor Cadmus is fantastic. He's usually late to class so you run just a tad behind and be fine. Hmm...who else, oh! Professor Savage usually has...interesting classes. She teaches Human Studies." She paused, hesitating and her eyes briefly flickered around. "Umm...I would be wary of...Headmistress Hellma's classes. I've never taken one myself. But, it's the Headmistress!"

The last Professor she couldn't bring herself to bring up. And it wouldn't have done much but make her feel that sadness again. It wasn't like Gallant could take Red's classes. Something she'd never been able to do. Only detentions with Red. And...all the other interesting things that had involved their werewolf professor.

His question on 'repairs' pulled a small, shaky laugh from the she-wolf. "Remodeling. You could...uhh, say that. There was a minor...dispute that took place in the office vicinity. I don't know if it's been repaired yet." LW gave him an apologetic look.

At his last question, a rare spark of anger flashed in her eyes before she glanced towards the school building. For a long moment, LW couldn't get out an answer. What did she even say? There was indeed an 'important' announcement posted. But it was Jacking lies. "You could say there are probably a few announcements worth reading." She murmured right before BB decided that this talking thing was boring and launched himself out of his lady master's arms to latch onto the tail of this boil that was not the gryphon boil.

meez
Nodding his head as though memorizing the teachers within his brain (which he was, just not in the way the werewolf might have thought), Gale rocked back on his heels, absently twisting the long hair in his hands.

Malcom. Cadmus. Savage. Hellma. The names ran in Gale's head like a continuous loop.

The falter, the way her voice shook - Gale's eyes flickered a little, tilting his head as though confused as his brows drew together. "A dispute?" he repeated, attempting to sound as thouhg he were concerned. But internally interest was piquing. "Not between staff, I hope!" he added, with a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of his neck and then twistng his hands together like he was suddenly uncertain.

...was that...what was that expression?

<< ...she's angry. Over what, I'm not sure. >>

"...er, all right," said Gale a little uncertainly - then promptly let out a squawk of surprise and irriation as something clamped down on his tail.

"ARRGGHHHHHH WHAT THE - "

<< I told you those mimics were nasty little buggers. >>

Gale grabbed the pet and yanked. Hard. It didn't do anything at first, but after a great deal of pulling, grunting, and swearing, he finally managed to pry the thing off.

He held it out to LW.

"I do believe this belongs to you?" he said with a nervous laugh, then stepped back a few steps. "Thanks for your help; you've been really great. I should go check out the notice board, however."

A pause, after which Gale added "Thank you, really."

kyributt
She gave a laugh of her own, though she didn't exactly disagree. It had been staff members. But she didn't feel like bringing up that. Or who it had been. So she simply laughed and added, "You'll find that disputes are not necessarily uncommon. And unexpected things happen to those not prepared." The she-wolf didn't elaborate though. Just offered a little bit of friendly advice. Really, especially with that Jackdamned announcement, she didn't want to taint any new student's view of the school!

Stupid boogiemen! They were covering their asses or something...more. Those of us that were there will never forget. And will know the truth. "Just...don't believe everything you read. There seems to be a lot of..." LW searched for the right word. "Miscommunication." She settled on. But nothing about the brief moment of anger or the vague reply were touched upon again. LW reluctantly would admit later that BB had been a big help in this. Just an embarrassing one as well.

"BB!" LW squeaked in something close to horror. "Jackdamnit, BB! Let him go!" Why? Why did her mimic have to go after this boil? He hadn't done anything! She outwardly winced, tail curling around her legs as he cursed and tried to pry BB away.

"I-I am...s-so very sorry about this." The she-wolf stammered, holding out her hands to receive her pet. "So s-sorry!" Once she had the mimic in her grasp, she just hugged the minipet to her.

She managed to give Gallant a warm smile, still feeling absolutely terrible and embarrassed over her mimic. "I'm glad I could be of use to you. P-Please feel free to come find me if you have any more questions! Or...if you want help learning the campus." LW nodded in the direction of the monster dorms. "You can always find me there. Good luck finding classes. And," she gave the boil a strange look. "Remember what I said when checking the board? Don't believe everything you read." For only a second, her voilet gaze turned towards the direction of the gym, a small tightening in her features. But just as quickly it was gone and she waved to the boil. "It was nice to meet you, Gallant!"

meez
LW's answers were slightly cryptic, her laugh sounding forced. Gale scrutinized her carefully for a moment, trying to read between the lines, but when that didn't yield anything, he relaxed his stance, nodding as he gave a wry smile.

"Isn't that always the case," he said, and laughed a little.

"Don't believe everything you read."

<< That's a cover up if I ever heard one. >>

I'll say.

The creature was now clearly frustrated, her cheeks burning with embarrassment as she took the mimic back into her arms. Gale waved his hands quickly, as though trying to reassure her.

"Really, it's fine," he said, and laughed, shaking his head. "It was a little...unexpected, definitely, but he seems like the type of pet to, er...be a little feisty."

Nodding at her, Gale said "Thank you. I appreciate all the help you've given me" and started to walk away, tail flicking behind him. He stopped, however, when she spoke again, he expression something that Gale could not read. Anger? Frustration? Irritation? Whatever it was, it was...different.

He nodded again. "I'll keep that in mind," he told her seriously, and then lifted his hand in a wave, ambling off towards the main building.
