But the title certainly wasn't on Mortimer's mind when he was walking. No, on his simple little mind was the thought that he should check up on his teammates - he hadn't really seen most of them since the Boo room, as they had begun to separate once they had changed back to their regular selves. It'd been several days since the portal had allowed them all to come back home, and Mort thought that was a good enough space of time before his visit.
After all, he didn't want to look too clingy. Just a little.
Using those days to his advantage, the zombie had managed to find the monster dorms with less difficulty than before. Now the issue was actually finding her door.
o3o;;
And thus began Mort's several minute spree of knocking until eventually one of the students was nice enough to point out the werewolf's dorm. After some profuse thanks, he shuffled over, paused at the door, and then hesitantly knocked.
Nah, probably not loud enough.
He tried again louder. Thunk thunk thunk.
What if she was sleeping? Meep . . . Well he'd wait a minute and if there was no answer, he'd just try later. Mort wouldn't begrudge anyone trying to sleep off all that stress, even if it had only been a day long.

She didn't remember when, exactly, Ren had wandered down into her room. Just that she was grateful he had. Having the presence of the other allowed them both to find sleep a little easier. And, go figure, sleep was not coming easy at all. The days had seemed abnormally long from being so tired and wary that something else was going to suddenly happened. Things in general at Amityville had seemed duller and gloomy. LW found that she'd not been able to run in the mornings quite so easily unless she had at least four of her minipets with her.
Four. Ironic number? Not at all. The she-wolf was worried about how her teammates had been doing. But she hadn't managed to actually go hunt them all down and check on them.
Okay that wasn't true. She'd checked in with all the monster ghouls, padding around to each of their rooms to see they were each doing well enough. Tired, like most of those that had been on that day long trip from hell. However she still hadn't checked on Whisper. Or Mortimer. Nor had she seen to the rest of team Skulker either.
She failed when it came to venturing out of her dorm right now.
The first soft knocks gained a tail twitch and a small shift as she tucked her head closer to Ren, letting his cinnamon-vanilla scent surround her. A few of her minipets (mainly BB) were woken right away. The mimic - who was somehow snuggled between the she-wolf and the gryphon - pushed against LW's stomach. She ignored it, until the second, more insistent knocking.
Oh Jack, that was knocking! At her door. Blinking, suddenly wide awake, LW twisted carefully and slipped away from Ren, BB rolling after her. She padded lightly over to the door, snatching up her mimic so he didn't try and bite whoever it was before opening the door...and there was Mortimer!
"Mort!" LW grinned and stepped out to hug the boil. "What are you doing here? Come on in. There are pillows around and don't mind the minipets. They're all friendly." Did it dawn on her that the boil might think it strange (or other things) at seeing Ren curled up in her room? Nope. LW was just too used to having her best friends wander in and out like that.

At first in the dim lighting Mortimer thought that LW had somehow grown a third boob. Then he saw the eye. Then he noticed the purple color. And the tail. And the toothy grin.
Don't blame him if the werewolf also was known for having the same sort of color! Or having boobs easily come to his mind! It was a dangerous combination with imagination.
"Heyo," Mort greeted cheerily, his eyes back up to where her face was as they hugged. "Wanted to see how you do. Also wanted find room. And have number for phone for later." His travels had made him realize how big the school really was, and his mother had said to get people's numbers for easier contact . . .
He looked around for a moment, noting the sheer amount of pillows and the spotted walls with a blink. "Did wake up with knock?" he asked as his eyes saw a strange incongruence in the mass of pillows.
Pillows didn't have tails. Or wings. Or faces. Familiar features.
"Could . . . comes by later?"

Ren had tried to sleep on his own, but it had, as usual failed. Sleeping in general had turned into a chore, especially when he was alone. By himself, Ren's mind seemed to never shut down, running a mile a minute, going over every little minute detail of anything and everything. And then, when he could sleep, it was always nightmares.
Burning. Drowning.
For several hours he had twisted and turned, trying to will himself to sleep, to lose himself in the throes of slumber, but nothing seemed to work. The few brief moments of sleep he did manage were black and choking, Ren awakening suddenly and unpleasantly, sweat beading on his brow.
Finally, after quite a bit of this, he dragged himself mindlessly from his bed and left the room, heading down the hall and below a floor to the room directly beneath his. Stepping into LW's room, Ren had all but collapsed onto the bed beside her, wrapping his arms around the shewolf and closing his eyes in a desperate attempt at sleeping.
And it had worked - for a short while, at least. His ghoulfriend's presence calmed him when nothing else could.
Which was why he definitely notice when she was no longer next to him.
Ren had not heard the knocking; or, if he had, it had been muffled in his head. The bed shifted and suddenly the warmth had gone, a gust of cool air brushing against Ren's face as a familiar voice could be heard, as if from far away.
Slowly he opened his eyes.
"Did wake up with knock?"
That voice was familiar as well, though Ren wasn't entirely certain why. Where had he heard that before?
Groggily he pushed himself up, the blankets tangled around his torso as he blinked sleepily over at the two figures in the door.
"LW? Mort?"

The mimic that was totally not a boob (he was to rough and mean to be considered one anyways) narrowed his eye at the boil. He didn't know this boil and it wasn't the other ones that his lady master was always with. BB growled huffly until the she-wolf set him down on the ground, giving him a small kick with her foot.
Did she notice his gaze linger somewhere other than her face? Of course not. It probably didn't help the poor boil that she was in customary tank and small boxer shorts. Her preferred sleeping wear (or general 'I don't give a damn' wear). She was too focused at seeing that Mort was alright and here. Really, he was adorable with how he cared and was checking in on them all. It was sweet!
"Well, I'm doing quite fine." LW said warmly, a small giggle escaping. "And this," she gestured to the room beyond, "is my room. You're welcome to stop by anytime to visit. I never lock the door. It's always open for friends." She stretched, noticing a few of her other minipets lifting their heads to glance at the undead boil. But none of them cared. LW hadn't told him to leave and they were used to people showing up unexpectedly. Austin, her hazmutt (who had been snuggled adorably up against Ren as well) woofed and got up to come greet Mortimer. He liked meeting new people!
"Huh?" The she-wolf blinked at Mortimer, thinking it was only the fact he'd woken her up that he might want to leave. "No...no, you don't have to leave! Grab a pillow and plop snag a spot. I bet I have soda's or something still..." Actually, she had no idea what she had food or drink wise hidden away.
Giving Mort that friendly and welcoming look, LW waved Mort in and shut the door so her minipets wouldn't sneak out. She glanced towards Ren, giving him that special smile. "Mort here stopped by to say hi. And make sure we're all in one piece still." Moving towards to half awake gryphon, LW looked over at Mort.
"And what about you?" She asked, close enough to Ren now that she gave his ear a little tug. "How are you doing, Mort? Have you seen the others as well?"

"I-Is fine. Malodore stitched up good. Has not seen anyone else yet, but Nata was with in tent; she's okay."
Sizing up the situation went as so:
LW was showing more skin than Mortimer had ever seen - not including the time she shifted into her natural form during the trip. The room was nice and dark and coolish. There were pillows. The not!boob had growled, and other minipets had simply perked up save for the mask-wearing dog who had come up to greet him itself. Close up: the pillow mass shifted and revealed a certain gryphon.
You know, the one who had given the most polite and congenial threats about keeping his ghoulfriend safe. Which, try as Mort had, had not ended so spectacularly once he had died as quickly as a weed gets crunched underfoot. Had the others seen that?
He had a thought to make up an excuse to come back later, but the door was shut before he could so much as take in the breath needed to speak.
Ho boy. Mortimer hoped Ren had a good nap. He was not nervous so much about their relationship part so much as Mort knew how things tended to . . . spill out when he was in heightened states of emotion. Word vomit. Information overload. That sort of deal.
And the things Mort said . . . Oh Jack, keep it together.
Swallowing, the boil nodded at LW's offers and took up the nearest pillow to hug to his chest. "Er . . . G'dafternoon?" he greeted Ren.
Even sleepy, the knob looked intimidating to him.

Still half asleep, it took Ren a few moments to comprehend the situation. He didn't really acknowledge the fact that there was another boil in LW's room until the shewolf stepped back to him and he felt her fingers tug gently at his ear.
"Afternoon...." he murmured, stifling a tired yawn. The dark circles beneath his eyes were clearly visible as he wrapped an arm around his ghoulfriend's waist and pulled her down to sit beside him. Leaning over to press a kiss to her cheek, Ren sighed.
"Thank you for letting me sleep over, my love," he whispered, so only she could hear, then let go, reaching his hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose between two fingers.
Mort...Mort.....right.
Mortimer. LW's teammate. The one that was with her when I found her in that room.
...why is he here now?
Ren was not the jealous type at all, but right now he was quite curious. Mortimer seemed like a good enough boil, at the very least, if not a little shy and awkward, if the way he was hugging LW's pillow to his chest was any indication.
"Good afternoon," Ren replied with a smile, beginning to comprehend things a bit better now that he was slowly growing more awake and less groggy. He pushed back the covers and stood up, dressed in a teeshirt and a pair of shorts. Padding across the way, he held out his hand to the patchwork.
"We can finally meet officially," he said brightly. "Mortimer, isn't it?"

Well, at least he had seen Natalia and she was alright. LW gave a small sigh at that. She'd only caught a glimpse of the ghoul in the monster dorms but hadn't actually spoken to her yet. "I'm glad she is okay. And you are okay too!" She didn't mention she too had to suffer through stitches. LW had not liked that. At all.
Austin was quite happy to pad over to the new boil and wag his tail. The hazmutt did love attention. He bumped Mortimer's hand and gave a muffled whine before playing cute and collapsing to the floor so he could roll on his back and expose his tummy. Pets now please? Yes yes!
LW felt a little bad that Ren had woken up. He needed sleep. The stubborn boil! She knew, or suspected, he'd held out as long as possible before finally wandering down to her room. It wasn't like that would be unusual. And really, LW was just happy that he'd come down at all. She smiled at him when his arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her down next to him. The she-wolf gave his leg a pat after he kissed her cheek.
"Anytime, dear heart." She leaned over and placed a quick, sweet kiss on his forehead before slipping away to go hunt down those sodas she was positive were hidden in here. Most likely in a drawer to her desk or dresser. She kept one ear trained to the boils while the other was on the soft rolling sound of her mimic hiding next to her foot. Apparently he was feeling clingy and didn't like being too far from his lady master. That was fine. He could roll around her feet while the boils mingled and she hunted.b

"Y-Yes. Sir."
Where that came from, he wasn't sure. Adding titles was always good, no? But was "Sir" even a title? Maybe that was just being polite. But. Um. Being polite was still good! So it would be fine. Oooooh Jack, it probably looked so weird that he was right there, able to watch the couple do their couple-y things that made Mort inwardly wriggle with awkwardness added atop his already innate awkwardness.
Still grasping the pillow to his chest, he met Ren's hand and shook once, though it was quick to retreat back to its plushy barrier. He was aware that living things touching dead flesh wasn't the most pleasant of experiences.
What he needed was something to . . . to calm himself. The hazmutt provided such a service by offering his belly up and, with a smile, he sat down by the minipet and began to scratch gently.
Mort had never actually hung out with people before, not really. Occasional house guests, sure, or with his brother, but . . . that was family. He'd done what he set out to do, and now he was here with the socializing to be done. Socializing. Oh, Mama would be proud. "So, um . . . feel better from trip?" the boil asked them both.
Well . . . that was bad phrasing. He tried again. "Body be okay?" Though one look at Ren's dark circles told him otherwise. Meep . . . Mort was suddenly glad he didn't have to sleep; he could only imagine what he would be greeted with the next time he tried.
"Know that, um . . . That peoples has bad trouble with sleep." Scritscritscrit went the belly scratching. "No blame too. Was scary . . ."

Ren's brows contracted together in confusion. ...sir? he thought, looking Mortimer up and down with a bemused expression. Why is he calling me sir?
The undead's handshake was brief and startled, Mort looking as if he would rather be anywhere but where he was. Ren wasn't entirely certain why he was so jumpy, but he shrugged, taking a few steps back to sit on the edge of the bed, drawing one leg up to link his fingers together at his ankle. He still felt exhausted, considering he'd barely even slept at all, but he wanted to talk to this boil anyway, since he was a friend of LW's.
And had been with her on the field trip.
"Feel better from trip? ...body be okay?"
The inquisitions were hesitant, clearly uncertain. Ren felt himself relaxing a little. He's kinda shy. I think I'll like him.
"Not quite better yet, but thanks," he said lightly, and reached out, taking a soda from LW's hands. His tail flicked upwards, curling around his ghoulfriend's in an almost subconscious gesture.
Lifting the drink to his lips, he said absently "I always have trouble with sleep."
There was a slight pause while he swallowed the mouthful of Spite and then turned his gaze towards Mort.
"You took care of my ghoul during the trip didn't you?" Ren asked him gently. "You helped her out?"

"Oh."
Scriscritscrit went the belly scratching. Awkward pause.
"D-Do too."
Another awkward pause.
"'Cause don't s-sleep," Mort explained, just in case. "N-Not really."
Scritscritscrit. He might've been accidentally digging his fingers a bit too much into the poor minipet's skin, the mindless action not currently being monitored.
Ren's next questions caused him to stop the scritscritting, though the zomboil's eyes did fall upon the hazmutt. "Tried . . ." did he really take care of LW? He wasn't sure. Half the time he was flailing about, either in a nearly one-sided Boo fight, or lost in the chaos that swallowed them all halfway through. Despite the gryphon's gentle tone, Mort was sure it would turn hostile at a moment's notice when it came to his ghoulfriend.
"L-Lost team when stuff s-started . . . C-Couldn't save ghouls. D-D-Died." He swallowed hard at the memory of blue fire engulfing him.

Sodas succesfully discovered and mimic still trailing along by her feet, LW moved back over to her boilfriend. She held out her hand with a second soda to Mortimer, warm smile encouraging him to take it. Her tail flicked and curled against Ren's when his twined with hers. Something done mostly in an absent minded manner. She was aware that Mort seemed to be slightly uncomfortable, and she didn't like that at all. It wasn't like she or Ren were going to do something to the boil!
Her gaze flickered to her boilfriend for a moment, a small frown forming at mention of his sleeping trouble. Not that she didn't already know this. LW leaned a little into the gryphon, silently reminding him she was and always would be there.
Austin was practically in a hazmutt's equivalent of heaven right now. His tail kept lazily wagging and a contended canine moan escaping. Oh he was eating up this attention, yes he was. Attention whore was one of his nicknames, after all! He didn't notice the boil's scratching getting rougher at first. In fact he really didn't notice until the boil stopped and his belly hurt slightly. Not that this kept him from rolling over and plunking his head on the boil's leg with a sigh. He liked this boil!
"Nonsense!" LW immediately argued. "You were always there, making sure I was alright. Even when we got separated from the group, you called for me and the others until we responded." Her gaze was soft. "Thank you, by the way." And she meant it. The boil had been on of the solid things she'd been sure about during all of...that. A sign of hope that her teammates were in one piece as well. "And...you weren't the only one that died." LW added softly, holding back the shiver that tried to race along her spine.

"Oh," said Ren, blinking a little as he looked at Mort. "You don't sleep?"
He wasn't sure whether to be envious or disappointed. Sleep had once been his favorite thing, after all; and even now he still craved it, his body needed it, and yet...he didn't want it. Not if it was going to be filled with black, bloody nightmares that made his head spin and his chest ache.
Mort was looking away from him now, down at the minipet as though he didn't really want to look at Ren, though he wasn't entirely certain why that was. He seemed like a decent guy, after all - though one had to wonder, considering that he'd been the only boil on a team full of ghouls.
"I'm sorry," said Ren quietly, with a glance up at LW, putting his arm around her waist in an almost automatic gesture and pulling her closer as though this was something he needed to do. It was not an awkward movement, nor was it more than it should have been, especially since there was another person in the room, but Ren just needed to feel LW next to him.
"I...I know how it feels," he murmured, rubbing his hand along the shewolf's back to ease some of the tension that was there, her face pale at the memory.
He tried to change the subject to something less morbid.
"At any rate," said Ren quickly, adopting a gently teasing tone of voice."You were with Natalia, Whisper, and Mei as well, weren't you? Lucky boil, getting to be with a team of such beautiful ghouls."

Mort took the soda with a nod of thanks, opening it as he listened. "Mrr . . . Not sleep l-lots, no. Just sometimes." The zombie glanced at the cuddling going on and nervously downed a gulp of Spite. Perhaps he shouldn't have brought dying up in the first place. Stupid. Of course he wasn't the only one who had died! Oh, why was he sitting there interrupting both naps and cuddle times! Although the hazmutt's head on his leg was kinda nice . . . He gave the little guy a few more scratches, this time behind the ear. Maybe he should consider getting one . . . The gas-mask mouth looked fitting for someone of his class and smell.
In the least Mort lessened his awkwardness by a bit by, for a moment, focusing attention on Austin, smiling slightly at the minipet as he scritscritscrit'd away.
He was taken aback by Ren's choice of topic change, however, and his answer reflected this in that he spoke without thinking. "Yes, w-was dream come true. Saw lots nakeds a-and boobs on trip. Was a-amazing."
. . .
He couldn't even garner enough self-shame to facepalm, so suddenly busy he was giving the hazmutt attention. Mort's blood was very, very slow, and thus the most he could do for flushing was look as if someone had bruised his cheeks.
"M-M-Mean, ghosts messed w-with clothes, n' water m-mint, n' spookies g-g-get wet n' -"
And then he stopped himself before the hole he was digging became an inescapable pit.

((I'm so sorry guys D: I honestly didn't know this was even tagged! I don't get notices for guild quotes ;__; Forgive me for taking so long to reply.))
LW smiled, leaning against her boilfriend as he pulled her closer. The arm around her waist was comforting. As was just his presence there. Her body relaxed piece by piece, her leaning into him becoming a much more companionable thing that was completely innocent. She needed that feeling as much as he did.
"I know." She said softly, one arm draping across his leg.
Watching Mortimer and Austin, LW felt her lips twitching. Her hazmutt was such an attention whore. And a good one at that. He always knew who the best people to beg for attention from were. And also seemed to have an annoying habit of those same people being individuals that could use a little bit of adorable minipet distraction. "Careful," LW giggled. "You might not be allowed to leave at this rate." Austin was definitely in agreement with that! Oh yes! He leaned this way or just slightly that way, directing the boils fingers to juuuust the right spots. He gave good scritches, yes he did!
Like the undead boil, LW was slightly surprised by Ren's choice of topic change. And then busted out in laughter hearing Mortimer. O-Oh dear Jack! Did she just hear him right?! Not that what he said was any surprise, oh no. It was just the fact that the shy boil had actually said it. His sudden very focused fascination with giving Austin attention made her laugh even more, leaning much more heavily against Ren.
"T-That totally.....w-was a dream come true...for several boils, I'm sure!" The she-wolf got out brokenly through her laughter. She had been one of the more...fortunate ones, having been in her wolf form pretty much the entirety of the time.
